BREAKING NEWS:

Boater discovers body in Columbia River near Rooster Rock. Multomah County River Patrol confirms.

think I'll start a thread. :praying:

okay, maybe I'll wait. Rooster Rock - State Park - 22 miles East of Portland. Thinking river runs east to west? Wrong direction? I mean from Sauvie Island.

It's a park. It's summer. Calming self now. :blushing:

The problem with that is it is upriver from SI. The Columbia River flows from Rooster Rock down past Portland, then past SI and continues all the way to the Pacific Ocean. There is no way a body could work it's way upstream against the current IMO. xox

I am so worried! I wish there would be a presser. :(

Perhaps Sauvie Island is a red herring.

Rooster Rock State Park:

In the Wikipedia article you can click on the coords in upper righthand corner for a map.

Note that Rooster Rock is 40 miles upstream from Northwest Portland, and on the Columbia River, not the Willamette River.

A spokesperson for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office tells us Multomah County River Patrol has confirmed the report. However, the patrol also has determined the body must first be turned over to Skamania County Sheriff's Office.

On June 25 we reported on a Stevenson man presumed drowned after his small raft capsized near the Stevenson boat launch on the Columbia River. The man, identified as 26-year-old Jordan Jaco, was described as "loved by everyone" and has yet to be found.

Interesting you would say that Faenorwyn, The other day in studying up on SI, I ran across a link dealing with the Lewis & Clark voyage. The Indians had a different name for it, Wappatoo Island, but did pass by it. And there was a comment made there were allot of places to hide a body in that area. I know, lol, I did a double take on reading that too xox

So there was a boater lost and presumed drowned in the area where the body was found. It could very well be the body of the boater. Did any news say if the body was male or female, adult or child?

I strongly suspect it is the boater..

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Jaco.

But I feel relief that it likely isn't Kyron.

Yep. I think everyone in this forum is just hyper alert to the words "body" and "river" right now.

The weather finally got (sort of) sunny here in Oregon. People are going to the rivers to recreate. Drownings happen. :(

I think there's a term for this sort of thing, but I'm having trouble finding it. It's like when you know a friend has a Subaru, and suddenly you notice Subarus everywhere, when before you didn't pay any attention to them. JMO

No it hasn't been confirmed, however, the recovery team did send the body to the county coroner where the 26 y/o male rafter was reported missing.

I personally don't believe it is Kyron's body. JMO.

My comment was simply in answer to a description of another missing person reported in the area where a body was found on the river.

Thank you for your post.:blowkiss:

My heartfelt prayers go out to the family also. We have to remember that un fortunately:praying::praying::praying::praying: bad things happen everyday and the families need love and prayers even if sweet Kyron is still missing.

KOIN6 Local confirming that the body is NOT Kyron.

Snipped

"However, law officers stopped short of confirming that it was Jaco's body which was recovered Saturday afternoon. They did say it was definitely not the body of Kyron Horman, the second-grader who disappeared from Skyline Elementary School more than four weeks ago."
