ok i was on the doenetwork at the guest book and this guy wrote a little about him self his name is mike and i belive is living in californa but i could be wrong. he was taken by strangers when he was young was passed on to varius family members of the strangers he was brainwashed and had hipnosis to forget about his past life in 97 he started to remember stuff and went to the missing childrens website and found a guy to look like him. he gave dna but the family of the missing is not cooraperating with him or le the person he thinks he is is dug champan missing from maine, he said they also picked up varuis other people along the way including Maryanne Wesoloski missing in 71 from ny and he also said they went to ct in 73 and may have taken janice pockett if u go to doenetwork and get the guest book look for his posting with a link to his webpage. what do you all think about this?

SMILE22, I cannot locate the guestbook information on this poster. I went through the entire guestbook and there is nothing about this. I am assuming doenetwork deleted the post?! Let me know if you have a link to this.

Smile22, through investigating this, the National center for missing and exploited children have confirmed that this guy is a hoax. Stay away from him. You are welcome to contact NCMEC yourself to confirm this. This guy's no good. Neither is his website. He has one very poor quality picture of himself as a child? He should be supplying all kinds of pics.

Any rate, LE's are looking into this and may charge him.

omg he sent me a mail saying that some nasty person sent him an email and he sent them nasty reply thanks for the warning i should have waited a while before i contacted doe on a tip he seamed so credible with his storys and crap, i actualy belived this man i cant belive i fell for it hes prolly deranged and sicko who prys on people he even had me so convinced that the person that took him took janice pockett now i feel so bad so did the ncmec have dna from him like he said that they did? or he didnt give dna? when he talks he dosent make sence half the time im gona foward u all his emails so u can read and seee what he has told me ok

Don't feel bad for anything at all SMILE!!!
There's cons out there all the time. The MOMENT I read that he was asking for money, my hair stood up. If someone is TRULY a missing child, the police, NCMEC and all LE would do their hardest to solve it and help him out. Him saying that NO ONE will help him only shows that he's a fraud. Police know better.

We've all been "taken" sometime or another. It just takes time and experience to weed out the freaks.

this thread is worrisome to me on several levels. but i cannot comment any more than that. not being coy, you know i speak my mind. smile...this is all i can say...stop talking to and getting involved with strangers online. :hand: this is not the first time. stop. :hand: just my opinion. i will not come here and give you my advice again, it's not my business. i hope , for your safety, you will listen to me. if not, good luck.

this time i duno what i was thinking i just saw his page and was feeling sorry for him i didint give him any info cept what state i live i am now going to block his email from my mailbox so i have no futher contact with him next time i see a story like this i will execute all resources like the ncmec and other places to check out his story

I agree LINDA. This guy is crazier than anything. LE is looking into this already. So hopefully he won't hurt anyone else with this crap

This guy is very scary. He needs a lot of help. If you get any messages at all from him, I suggest you contact TRICIA here.

I have spoken to the police about him and the NCMEC. They've all warned me to stay away from him.

His name is Mike Paradise and he claims to be a missing child from the 70's.
Just be very careful.

Yes boyexploited, THIS Douglas Chapman IS VERY MUCH a registered missing child. The person claiming to be him is NOT though. THAT'S what LE and all is warning about.

Just clarifying that there is NO dispute here about Douglas Chapman missing. The concern is others being EXPLOITED (excuse the pun) by this guy Mike Paradise.

It actually looks like this guy might be the real thing not only does the younger pic look similar, his current pic does resemble the age progressed photo provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. I don't see where it would be a problem even if he was asking for money.

Well we all have different opinions. Wouldn't it be wonderful if that was true. The sad thing is that the law enforcement and even the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children don't believe that at all. One of the key reasons is that the child "Douglas Chapman" was actually a victim of foul play. According to the police file, one of the parents was / is a VERY strong suspect and they have some evidence. However, back in the 70's, there were no convictions of cases without a body.

So this is very sad and cruel what this person is doing. I tend to rely on the Law Enforcement and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. If they also feel strongly that this child is deceased and this person is a hoax, that is what I rely on.

Enough said. I believe most people here have good intelligence enough to make up their own minds.

I checked around really good.......wouldn't they have this listed as unsolved homicide if there was evidence......is there some story about his father molesting him? I heard something from a friend of mine that lives in Biddeford.
I'm thinking about reviving my old website as well and I was really interested in these older cases from the early seventies. Only problem was this was too addicting. I had heard something about this case a long time ago......somebody had reported seeing him walking through Portland or something????? was surprised to see a listing here and I only check this site out as a secondary source anyhow......If they think Douglas Chapman is dead why haven't they cut this guy loose or bring him in and find out what he knows.....I am going to e-mail this guy before I go to work.....

When they don't have a body, they cannot label it "unsolved homicide". In the old file regarding this case, they have very SPECIFIC reasons as to the evidence they have to suspect one of the parents but could not go any further until a body is found. Many many cases of "missing" people are labeled that until further evidence.

I don't believe at the time the law enforcement ever spoke publicly about their theories and evidence. So, even though the LE had suspicions and evidence, there was not enough to charge that parent until the deceased child was found.

At any rate, I don't care to discuss this any further nor can I give anymore info either on this. My opinion is to stay away from this person Mike. I am fully convinced this poor child is dead based on everything I have in front of me.

If LE even thought this guy was for real, all they need do is take DNA samples from him and the family to compare. Obviously, they have enough information that they believe this guy to be a "fake," so the fact that he's asking for money should be cause for alarm.

LE does have his DNA and they are considering FRAUD charges. The difficulty at this time is that he (Mr. Paradise) lives in California near San Francisco and this child missing/murdered lived in Maine.

Because this fraud was caused through the internet, it becomes very difficult as to which state could charge him. They're researching further "INTERNET" laws...
