Police Seek Florence Girl Missing For Days

Police have issued an alert Friday for a teen missing from Covington for more than a week.

[snip]

The Florence girl's mother said her daughter always checks in on a daily basis but has not been doing that.

Police said the situation was now critical because the leads they have followed have not checked out.

Witnesses said Johnson was dropped off in Covington by an undisclosed male, but police said he "is now being less than 100 percent forthcoming."

I pray she just ran away and is found safe and sound soon.

I found at least 4 different my space pages for Paige.

2 of them used her middle name, Valisa...which is pretty unusual.

One has her mood as "Highly Ammused" (her spelling NOT mine, along with Paigee and Valisaa..we like to add extra letters it appears) and last logged in on 10/02/10 I don't know if that was LE, her family or her... but that's when it was last used.

All are set to private and have her age as 18-20.

Here are the two Paige Valisa Johnson my space pages.

Nancy Grace

They had the law enforcement officer on tonight.

The guy who dropped her off stated simply that...then hired an attorney. He is supposed to be an "acquaintance" so not her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend was rumored to have hired an attorney, but the LE hadn't heard that.

The 2 year old child is being raised by her grandmother. (I don't know if that was Paige's grandmother or the child's grandmother.)

Paige goes to see the 2 year old child "every weekend" and she has missed those visits.

Paige is not in school and does not have a job, so she didn't have anywhere to be the next day...as far as being out so late at 1am.

Paige's mother "has other children to take care of" and that's why she isn't out there more.

Paige's father is incarcerated.

What's the story on the male who dropped her off and is now being uncooperative with authorities? What is his relationship to Paige? What was his first "story"? Is he the father of her child and if not, where is he?

I caught this on NG tonight, She is such a beautiful girl....
Seems no one is picking this up because of her background, having a 2 year old. That is ridiculous just because she was young when she had the child doesn't mean she doesn't need coverage someone may have seen something, the local stations need to report this.

This is 4 hours from Covington where Paige was supposed to have been dropped off...and would sound eerily similar to Alicia Debolt's case to me considering they cannot be connected.

Prayers for the family of this UID victim.

If this turns out to be Paige I'll be very surprised, even though it is a pretty straight forward drive down I75 that is an 8 hour round trip. It would be a peculiar twist for sure.

There is a 15 year old girl, Amber Simpson, who went missing from Middlesboro (which is right beside the park where the burning body was found) a couple of days ago. While it could be someone else, this would be more likely that it is Amber rather than Paige.

Amber Simpson would be even more eerily similar to Alicia Debolt. Creepy.

They haven't even said if it's a man or woman. I just figured I would find any of them within a few hours and look at them.

Police have received a steady stream of tips about a missing Florence teenager, but so far they haven't located the girl.

Witnesses said Johnson was dropped off in Covington by an undisclosed male, but police said they found reason to doubt his account of events.

However, police said, they have found no evidence that a crime has been committed in the girl's disappearance.

A Covington police spokesman said they had no evidence that Johnson had been kidnapped or abducted, and the teen remained classified as missing.

I'm glad to see she has a facebook for her being missing. The generation that she belongs to does utilize facebook as a social networking source for the most part. I asked to be added.

I read the 4 comments that were posted under the article covering her being missing (the link to which was posted in post number 17 by MsFacetious, TY BTW! :))

They seem to me to be half-a22ed comments we see posted by those that could be percieved as participating in knucklehead type behavior, when there is nothing else to do but log on and post wise-@ss comments about missing children.)

The bottom line is this is a missing child.

I don't care if she is voluntarily missing.

I don't care if she is out and having a h3ll of a time and can't be bothered to call home to check in. She is a missing child.

She is 17 yrs old. I have a saying..."If you can't be a blessing in my life...move the h3ll out of my way". Those that are participating in that knucklehead behavior by commenting on MSM articles and accusing her of being found on a maternity ward after nine months...well, there is such a thing as Karma and something else which I believe even more---the energy you put out in thoughts and words---comes back to you triple fold. I'd hate to be in your sneakers dude. JMHO

Come home sweet baby. My gut is telling me you can't come home. My gut is telling me that you won't be coming home to your Momma or your own child---as they want you to come home.

Prayers.

I agree, it doesn't matter WHY she is missing...as far as her family is concerned they still don't know where she is. It just affects the search effort, how and where they search if they know she is voluntarily missing.

Even IF there was confirmation of a pregnancy that we have not heard about... that still doesn't determine for me why she went missing.

Yes, she could run away because of a second pregnancy she didn't want discovered...

She could also be taken by someone who didn't want it discovered.

That could explain the boyfriend lawyering up if he really did....I would LOVE to know his age. In Kentucky, the age of consent is 16. Unless the older person is over 21. So, 16 or 17 and 22+ would still be illegal. If she WAS pregnant and that's the reason she's gone, it happened when she was 16 or she wouldn't have known yet.

I don't know what the odds are it would be prosecuted in Kentucky, but it would be illegal if the boyfriend was 22+ and so it could be a motive. I wonder what happened with the father of the first child?

Also, she didn't get pregnant at 15, she got pregnant at 14.

If she had gotten pregnant at 15 she would be really close to 18 with a 2 year old. She JUST turned 17.

She had to have gotten pregnant when she was 14 and probably had the baby at 14 as well... unless the baby was born after Paige's August 29th birthday in 2008 and so turned 2 in the last month.

http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20101008/NEWS010703/10090346/

From this news report.

Paige's daughter's father's family has custody of the child.

Her child's father is not thought to be involved in her disappearance.

Paige lives with her mom in Florence about 10 miles away from where she was last seen.

She left home without a cell phone or credit cards.

Investigators brough search dogs to a house Paige might have visited in Taylor Mill...but there was no sign of her.

Prosecutors are concerned that the last person to see her just said that he dropped her off and he immediately got a lawyer.

There is no credible evidence that Paige has been seen since her disappearance and 'the fact that prosecutors are involved is not a good sign'. :(

That article also mentions a second male friend who lawyered up.

Her boyfriend perhaps?

There is a guy in the county, who was arrested on a technical parole violation, by an actual officer, not the "court" and is being detained. J is a friend of Paige on facebook and he appears to be kind of the resident driver for all of the girls. Dropping them off at friend's houses and things like that.

Paige is also in his top 4 friends on my space. They appear to have been close friends for several years, there is multiple pictures of her and they don't appear to all be from the same time frame.

Even though he is 5 years older than she is and almost triple her size...he would not be my top suspect to have hurt her. It's weird...he almost seems like a big brother type figure. I could understand why all these girls hang out with him...he's likely their protector. But at the same time it's too weird for me...I'd have to actually see more than just pictures to get a better feeling about him.

Regardless...I think it is pretty safe to think that the police have him there on the parole violation trying to pressure him. He probably isn't the only one... I just didn't have time to go through them all when you can't sort by age or date of arrest.

The cousin that went on Nancy the other day has also commented on news articles. She said they have been told Paige may have cut and dyed her hair. Red, black and brown.

http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20101008/NEWS010703/10090346/

Investigators became more concerned when the male acquaintance who said he dropped Johnson off hired a lawyer and refused to answer further questions. Nally said detectives wanted to know anything else Johnson might have told him about her plans for the night.

Nally wouldn't release the name of the man who dropped off Johnson.

"We haven't even been able to confirm a crime has been committed so to call anyone a suspect I think would be premature," Nally said.

Investigators were further concerned when another male acquaintance they tried to question hired a lawyer and refused to cooperate. Nally would also not release that person's name.

The family of a missing teen from Covington, Kentucky continues their search, hoping to find 17-year-old Paige Johnson alive.

"We want Paige home," said her mother, Donna Johnson.

Donna says search dogs may canvas the area this week.

http://www.wave3.com/story/13303421/search-continues-for-missing-covington-woman

From the video in the article:

Paige Johnson was reportedly last seen at 15th and Scott in Covington... dropped off by a friend. Now that friend and Paige Johnson's boyfriend have hired attorneys and are not being as helpful as they were at first.

Johnson has been missing 18 days. The fliers have given police some tips, but nothing specific about her whereabouts.

"Do you feel like you're getting full cooperation from people who may have some knowledge of what's gone on with her?"

Lt. Col. Spike Jones, Covington Police: Well we have received a lot of cooperation from some folks. As you're aware an individual we were speaking with obtained an attorney...in that respect that's really all I can address as far as that. He did obtain an attorney."

That was the last person known to have seen Paige Johnson, reportedly here at 15th and Scott in Covington.

Mother: "That's supposedly. We don't even know if she made it to 15th and Scott. That's just the friend who gave her a ride and said he dropped her off there. But we don't know."

Jenny Roderick, Paige Johnson's Grandmother: "We don't know they're getting lawyers. We don't understand why they're getting lawyers.

Mother - "We're kind of curious ourselves why they did get lawyers. That scares us, too. We don't know."

Covington police are still handling this as a missing persons case. There is no criminal investigation.

"We're very confident that we're going to locate Paige."

The anchor said it's interesting that Lt. Col. Spike Jones says they are confident they will locate her.

The reporter says he was baffled by that as well and doesn't know what it is that gives them so much confidence that they will find her. The reporter asked him specifically why they feel that way and Lt. Col. Spike Jones said he could not share that information.

The reporter feels the police know a great deal more than they are telling the public and that is why they are confident they will find her.

Personal opinion, speculation and theory:

I am still 99% sure that the "friend who dropped Paige off" is the same friend who usually dropped all the girls off, the one who beat stage 4 cancer a few years ago. His own family says he saw her the night she disappeared. So if he didn't drop her off, he was still one of the last people to see her.

This friend was one of the ones arrested on a parole violation...(still being detained over a week later) which would obviously mean he would have an attorney. My first instinct still isn't on this friend to have hurt her. He is kind of the defender of all of the girls...that is his "violent" history. I do not know why he was on parole, I haven't felt the need to look that far.

I really wonder if the police are thinking along the same lines that I am...that perhaps she was assisted in hiding for a period of time? Maybe they have verified she had a reason for leaving? Which gives them reason to be confident they will locate her? Maybe that's why her boyfriend and friend hired lawyers, because they know where she is and are trying to allow her the time she needs? (I know, I'm being very optimistic!)

I also think with all the tips they are getting about people seeing her in Cincinnati, her being with some much older guy, her saying she isn't coming home because her mother will call the cops, etc....that they may have real reasons to believe she is okay. Maybe even her on camera in a gas station or store somewhere? I just haven't seen tips that talk about her being dead.

I don't know, it just didn't sound to me like the Lt Col. was talking about locating Paige's body...he sounded more optimistic than that. But I guess we will find out if they bring out cadaver dogs.

I hope she took off... I really don't want to see another Jodi Powers.

A public facebook set up for Paige...

COVINGTON, Ky. - Everyone involved in the Paige Johnson case is on Facebook … everyone except the missing teen herself. And police said that could be cause for concern.

While the police still have no concrete leads about what happened to the 17-year-old who dissappeared nearly three weeks ago, they continue to search for her around the clock. The search has even extended to a check of her social habits on the Internet and that's where police have come up cold -- no e-mails sent; no Facebook status updates; no MySpace chats or messages.

Police consider the teenager’s lack of social network activity as a possible concern.

Prosecutor Rob Sanders is using the same media to spread the word about Johnson. He says cases like this often are broken when an innocent person overhears a conversation or stumbles into something. “If somebody that stumbles across that information happens to have seen the poster come across their Facebook page or Twitter account they'll know they're talking about this missing girl and we need to call police. And that's what we're hoping happens. “

Sanders says they are also monitoring Facebook to see if Paige logs in. She was an avid user and her last known contact was a message sent on Facebook. “There was, close in time to when Paige went missing there was a message left on a Facebook page. I don't know that that person got a chance to return that message.” That last message was essentially, “Call me, it's important.”

Police are not sure if she was in trouble and aren't speculating.

The prosecutors office has subpoenaed phone and internet records of the last few people to interact with Paige Johnson. They are gathering information but have not opened a criminal case.

If they don't know if the person got a chance to return that message...then one would think that person isn't cooperating with them. Otherwise, they would know, right?

You just ask "did you have a chance to call her back?" The person says yes or no. It's quite simple. Unless they are not cooperating or you don't think they are being honest.

So unless whatever she wanted them to call about would make that person look like they had a motive.... you would think LE would already know. :waitasec:

COVINGTON – The last person to be seen with missing 17-year-old Paige Johnson was arrested on a parole violation 11 days after the girl disappeared.

Jacob Thomas Bumpass, 22, has been at the Kenton County jail on the parole violation since Oct. 4 after investigators found what appeared to be dried blood and two latex gloves in his sink.

Just saw this on the local news...

http://www.local12.com/content/breaking_news/story/Last-Person-To-Be-Seen-With-Missing-Teen-Is-In/rrUiWvCit02sNhCKkOsOvg.cspx

"Bumpass says he dropped her off at 15th and Scott about 1 a.m. The cell phone records show he, or at least his phone, was somewhere else. The affidavit says at 1:03 that morning Bumpass' phone accessed or pinged a cell phone tower on Tanner's Lane in Florence, a few blocks from Johnson's home. At 1:32 it pinged from a tower in Wilder... the one closest to Bumpass' home. Just before 3 a.m., his phone pinged on a tower in Edgewood and at 4:13 a.m., it pinged on a tower on Filager Road in Batavia. Five minutes later there is a hit on a tower on Half-Acre Road near the entrance to East Fork Lake State Park. At 9:43 the phone was back near the Wilder tower. All on the night Paige Johnson was last seen with Jacob Bumpass."

BBM

I am local to this area. Filager Road is near the county jail and the sheriff's office. The animal shelter is also on that road. Once you pass all of this though the road becomes very "woodsy" and somewhat rural. The East Fork of the Little Miami River is also close to where Filager meets what I would call a main road...St Rt 222. This is practically my back yard and there are LOTS of woods in this area :(. East Fork State Park is huge, also with a lot of thick woods and the lake is very large. What doesn't make sense to me though is that the pings between Filager and Half-Acre were 5 min apart....you would have to drive awfully fast to make it there in 5 min. Part of it is highway (SR 32) and not heavily traveled at 4-5 am so it would be possible to go way over the speed limit on this road for a short amount of time, I suppose but 5 min is still quick. I may try to drive it this weekend to see.

This area is a great distance to the Florence, KY area a little over a half hour. (Batavia is in Ohio) I'd be curious to know if he was friends with someone in this area because these are pretty random places to be if you don't know the area (and people from Ky generally do not) The other entrances to East Fork are more commonly used. I don't know that this entrance is even signed very well from the main roads. I'll have to venture out and take a look.

I'll keep my ears open and definitely eyes since now I know he was in my area. Paige, hopefully you are okay and hiding out somewhere here in Batavia and we can bring you home to your family!

ETA: This does not look good. At all. From the same news story...

Bumpass ran when police announced who they were but they caught him. He let them inside the home, where Frodge says he saw what he thought was dried blood on a sink and a latex glove. Bumpass refused to talk.

WOW. That's strange. I can't imagine someone getting from around Filager Rd to Half-Acre in 5 minutes. Even at that time. You'd have to go incredibly fast.

Batavia is a random place to be. As is any place around that area; Owensville, Williamsburg, Milford, Amelia, whatever. Especially at 4 in the morning.

Hopefully she's just hiding. I'll be looking for her!

Great info in this article. Ping information is interesting. I grew up in and near the areas listed. Interestingly enough, the Filager Rd. location is where the clermont county jail and courthouse is located, Half Acre Rd. is just a few minutes from there going eastbound on 32, eastfork entrance is on old st. rt. 74. Return trip from eastfork state park in OH to wilder, KY approximately 45 minutes.

A name was mentioned in the article from my previous post... this is the indiviual's FB page. PJ is listed as a friend. If you cannot get to the P's, click on the drop-down window next to the word, show, select "no networks" she will be on pg. 6.

He is currently in jail for a parole violation. The comments made from his mobile on Sept. 22 in light of the cell ping info doesn't look good. I should mention the park has a huge lake.

Paige was on my mind today so after work I took a drive, paying particular attention to the cell phone towers. It turns out the towers on Filager road are definitely visible from SR 32 as is the tower on Half-Acre drive. Given that, it's entirely possible to drive between these two towers in 5 minutes. It would be a bit longer if he was actually ON Filager but I don't think he was. I think he drove down 32 on his way to the park/lake and the tower pinged him from there and then the other tower pinged him at Half-Acre. I'd love to see the record of all the pings.

If anyone is interested I can map this out for you and try to figure out how to post it.

I also drove into the East Fork Lake area. It's about 3 miles from the cell phone tower to the actual lake with LOTS of woods in between. Three weeks ago those woods would have been much thicker than they are now as of course trees are losing their leaves and the brush is dying here. I'm curious if he was familiar with this area at all if this was a common place for him to come camp or boat. Considering if he was coming here to dump her body I'm wondering if he would chance taking that entire drive down to the lake at that hour and risk someone seeing him or if he would have dumped her in the woods somewhere along the way. Surely they are or will bring dogs out there to search. The optimist in me wants to believe that he was just helping Paige hide here and she's there camping at the campgrounds. At this point someone else would need to be helping her though because I'm sure she would not have had 3 weeks worth of supplies.

Going to read Facebook to see if there is anything there that was not reported on the local news. If I find anything new I will post.

Please let someone find her soon.

Somehow I don't think she is camping. This case has been on my mind too (even though I am in Florida). It doesn't look good. And the longer it goes without any further news makes it worse.

Yeah that's why I said the optimist in me wants to believe he is helping her hide at the lake. The sleuth in me knows better.

I've been doing more thinking tonight. He would have come up Interstate 275 from Kentucky. There is a sign on the highway for East Fork that tells you the two exits for the park/lake. It tells you what exit to take for the beach and what exit to take for campgrounds. I think it's a fairly new sign. The exit for the beach is first and the camp exit is about a mile down from that. Once you exit the Park/Lake is several miles from both exits. Anyway, what I was thinking is if he was unfamiliar with the area and strictly wanted to dump her in the lake I think he would have taken the first exit. Why go to campgrounds if you want the lake? So I think he was probably somewhat familiar with the camping area and dumped her in the woods there. Someone unfamiliar with the area and just wanting to get to the lake would take the first exit. Also, he crossed the Ohio River on his way to the lake, if he wanted to just dump her body in water somewhere why go to the lake? Why not dump her in a huge river that has a very swift current? She is in those woods, imo. Another report said his cell pinged on a tower near Kellogg Ave at 5:00AM. That's near the bridge on 275 that goes back to Kentucky. That puts him in Ohio for just about an hour. About 20-25 min to and from East Fork each way...that's 10-20 min of non-drive time. An awful far drive to spend such a short amount of time doing anything honest.

I found another news link that gives info about Bumpass's brother's car...

"According to court documents, the roommate told police Caleb Bumpass had extensively cleaned his car two to three days after Johnson went missing. The roommate said that he found it odd because Caleb was "a trashy person" and he had never known him to clean his car

The roommate told police he had heard Jacob asked to borrow the vehicle, according to the affidavit. After the car was cleaned, he saw spilled red paint in the trunk area."

There is supposed to be a group of her friends and family searching at the lake tomorrow. The police are being so tight lipped (I understand why) but surely they have been to the area with dogs or something? That park is 5000 acres though and a lot of woods, so would take some time to search. I hate where my mind is going with this.

ALL IMOO of course.

There was just mention on facebook of somebody possibly hearing on the scanner that Paige had been pulled over in a vehicle...so I immediately ran to the scanner forum... It's not there... so obviously somewhere else in the world they listen to the scanner. :waitasec:

Since Paige's "boyfriend of a few years" has also been named in the media....

I don't think he hurt her either. I think he's just young and immature. I can see him helping her hide as well. Paige's family has commented on there, so their facebooks are on there as well.

Jacob is the friend I have been talking about for a week that was in custody.... thank you very much. I feel vindicated. (Can we please call him Jacob... I feel evil every time I giggle at his last name.) :innocent:

Now I can share my links with all of you.

If they can't get him to talk, I would vote they send his best friend T in. But that's just me...

I agree with Paige's sister that he simply does not strike me as the type to hurt Paige. He has known her for years and he is the protector of the group. He doesn't appear to have a motive to hurt her, though I can see motive to HIDE her. The only thing that makes me pause, is that one comment on his my space about someone carrying his child. But I think that was sarcastic or something.

Paige having alcohol was not unusual and she often had it with Jacob at the parties she attended. That doesn't even raise an eyebrow for me, completely normal for Paige.

If they found blood in his house, they should know by now if it was consistent with Paige's. At the very least they could have blood typed it.

If his cell phone was pinging at this place that is perfect to dump a body...why has it taken 3 weeks to search it? It doesn't take 3 weeks to get cell phone records.

If this place his phone was pinging was out of state... did they consider that it would have been a violation of his parole to be there? So that may be why he lied about it? We all know what stupid things people will lie about in the middle of a much bigger investigation.

Jacob is also a stage 4 cancer survivor and seems to be a very relaxed type of person. He is quite close to his Mom, but not so much to his brother. I don't think he would help him cover anything up.

I also considered that his brother is engaged and his girlfriend may not take kindly to the messy car. My ex lived right down the street from Destiny Norton. He had his car cleaned out and detailed the day after she went missing... because he was sick of hearing me complain about it being messy.

Jacob's brother's facebook has always been private, his mother's just went private recently.

Okay... I think that is all that I had on people that have now been named in the media.

On Sept. 21 Johnson chatted with Bumpass on Facebook. Just after 2 a.m. she posted on his wall to come and get her, her sister and her friend to “party ASAP!” He declined because, as he posted, he had a job interview the following morning and needed to get some sleep.

More than 30 people gathered Saturday morning on Decoursey Avenue in Covington before starting the search.

Among the places they combed were an area off Locust Pike in Taylor Mill, near the Licking River and in Covington, around 47th and Decoursey, near Banklick Creek.
They also looked in a scrapyard near the railroad bridge that crosses the Licking River between Covington and Newport.

Praying for Paige today. Not much in the news about her last night or this morning, just that some friends and family searched around in Kentucky and also a few at East Fork. There was some confusion on FB that a local search and rescue was going to search at East Fork. A S&R member finally posted that they will search but are working with LE as to when and where so they do not destroy evidence. They urged everyone to follow the police request. I just wish that LE would come out with something. To me, a lot points to that she could be in that park and I don't understand why they would not launch a full scale search.

If she's there I don't think she would be too far off from the road. It would have been pitch black at the time of night Jacob was there and I can't imagine that he would have bothered to carry her far in. Vegetation would have been thick. I don't think he was there long enough to dig much of a grave so if there is one, it would be very shallow. Thinking about driving over there later today just to observe from the road to see if I can see anything that stands out as unusual.

I know that in other cases, there's been questions as to the accuracy of cell phone pings - do we know for sure that these pings were accurate?

It's sad this case isn't given more coverage - unfortunately, just another example that the media will only cover cases with certain types of victims.

I followed this case from the beginning when Paige was first reported missing. I thought it would just turn out that she wanted to get away for awhile, but it looks like there is more to it, sadly. It appears this JB person dropping her off may know more. It seems like everytime a statepark with a lot of woods comes into the picture nothing good comes out of it. There really is no good reason for this guy to make a trip like this in the middle of the night (4am) to a desolate area such as this other than to hide something or someone. From the online map, it appears that the approx distance between the Filager Rd. tower and the one off Half Acre is only 7 miles so it seems he would be able to cover this distance easily with no traffic. I also bet the ping was from traveling on St. Rt. 32 past the tower, not actually being on Filager Rd. Of course I know cell towers can only give a general radius of location.

I pray that she is okay, but my brain tells me probably not in this case. East Fork State Park is huge and a great place to hide a body at night. I just hope that if something terrible happened to her that her family is able to locate her and not have this drag on giving them more grief. :( Here is a map of the approx cell tower ping locations.

Okay in addition to why they didn't have the cell phone pings earlier and the blood ruled in or out as matching Paige.... there are a few other things here that make no sense to me.

If his phone pinged near her home at 1am, I would think someone would have known she was there... rather than already gone for a couple of hours.

Paige left a facebook message on her sister's facebook at 12:12am saying she needed to talk to her immediately. (She says this wasn't an odd message from Paige, that's just how she talked.) Where did she post this from? It seems an odd thing to do at a friends house.

If she was on her way to her sister's house... why post that message at all? You will see her in an hour.

11 HOURS later her sister responds on facebook and says minutes aren't free, but she can text her.

If Paige doesn't have a cell phone, why is she telling her to text her? Not just email her?

If Paige was supposed to be at her house 11 hours before, why isn't she concerned? It was only a few hours later that Paige was reported missing.

(It is said by a family member that Paige doesn't have a cell phone on the Paige You Are Safe Here (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Paige-You-Are-Safe-Here/159025927454965) facebook.)

Paige's sister's facebook, remember facebook adjusts times for YOUR timezone. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001640020055#!/profile.php?id=100001640020055&v=wall

Paige was supposed to be dropped off at Brittany's house around 1 a.m.

The teen, who is a mother to a two year old daughter......

From the video and article here: http://www.kypost.com/dpp/news/local_news/missing-teen-%E2%80%98friends%E2%80%99-with-jailed-man

After she is reported missing... usually in a missing person's case you hear "Well I don't think she would ever run away, but I hope that's it!"

In this case... any "rumor" that would result in Paige being okay... they are getting angry about! That is just astonishing to me. I am not getting the impression that the police are doing a whole lot if the family is out searching a possible crime scene. So the family really does need to be checking out these tips.

Example: A woman said that she worked at a hotel... that a woman there had a grandson who introduced Paige as his new wife, they had just gotten married. She had a picture of Paige and possibly one of these two together. The entire staff, not just one person, recognized this girl and discussed how to handle it. They did contact police but didn't hear anything... so they wanted to contact the family. They took the time to follow up with the family after not seeing the police follow up.

The family's response was "Paige can't get married, she's 17!" and "She wouldn't do that, she has a boyfriend."

What?! Seriously?

I can pretend for a minute they are correct and Paige did not run off and get married to another guy. (Tiffany Tehan anyone?)

They could have lied about the marriage. If Grandma knows they are living together and wouldn't approve. I've been the "wife" since 2002 and I'm still not married!

However, much more critically... she could be there against her will.

Elizabeth Smart was "married" and Jaycee Dugard was the "daughter"!

I was just stunned to the point of tears... that they are just completely disregarding a tip that would be so easy to prove or disprove.

The thought that she could be being held as someone's "wife" and her family disregarded it... makes me sick. I am not sure why the tips of her being alive are being disregarded. Those would be the ones I would want to check out...rather than searching the trees and water.

Paige isn't my family member though... so how to handle tips is simply not my decision. I just really hope they don't disregard the tip that would lead them to Paige. :twocents:

This beautiful girl with so much personality, so full of life....deserves to be found. Regardless of what that might mean.

I now believe LE is actively involved in this case and is just playing VERY close to the vest. I went out to the park today and there were water rescue units from the sheriff's department of both jurisdictions (one from the county where the park is, in Ohio and one from the county where Paige is from, in Kentucky.) I do not know if they found anything or not. I also saw two different cars with "Kentucky official" license plates. One where the water search was going on and one stationed by the woods up near the entrance.

This park is huge (5000 acres- 2,000 of which is water) and it's entirely possible that they have been searching since the cell phone pings put him in that area. The media only picked up on the pings on Thursday. No one from the media was at the park today while I was there so I do not expect to see it in the news that there was an official search today.

But if law enforcement is searching, would they also allow the family to do their own searches... and risk destroying evidence?

Or are law enforcement searching in a completely different area than the family?

Generally, when they have an area pinpointed due to cell phone pings or other specific evidence... police don't allow private citizens to search that area. I guess it just seems odd to me?

The park where the cell phone pinged is 5000 acres, 2000 of which is water. That's a huge area to search. It's a state park not just a city park that takes up a few blocks. It has woods and a lake and many trails where people hike and horse back ride and also is open to camping and boating. Without shutting the whole park down they can not really keep people from searching. If they can get into the park they can search if they really wanted to. I could have today, but I would like to wait until there is a full scale official search if I do. Not sure why they didn't just shut it down and search but they didn't. According to FB there was supposed to be a meet up at a high school in Ky yesterday and a search from there. It is also posted that the police told them to stay out of East Fork Park. I believe that group searched areas in Kentucky but there are people posting that said they went to EF.

It's a 25+ mile distance from the area where he lives to the park and each are in different states, if that helps.

I would guess that LE has done searches at the park prior to today since I'm sure they had the ping records long before the news got ahold of them on Thursday. But they are still searching there now...I saw them with my own eyes today. Boone County Kentucky Water Rescue was there. I can't think of any other reason they would be in a park in Ohio searching. Also some sort of unmarked cars with "Kentucky Official" plates were there.

Yeah a lot of this does not make sense but remember, we do not know everything that LE does. Hopefully they are just keeping this very buttoned up. There was a case here a few years ago where foster parents murdered their child and then set up a ruse that he went missing. For weeks we did not hear much from LE but the entire time they were working and were just quiet about it.

Someone on FB suggested that the family contact TES. I hope they do. Paige needs to be found!

Thanks for posting info on the search efforts. It is great that they are searching for her and ruling out any possibilities. The media hasn't reported any search efforts yet, so it is great to hear firsthand what is going on. :)

The 17-year-old disappeared on Sept. 23. Police said Jacob Bumpass was the last person to see Johnson before she disappeared.

Bumpass has been arrested on unrelated charges and police have not named him as a suspect in the case.

However, detectives said they found what appeared to be human blood on clothing and other items found in his home.

On Saturday, people focused their search at the park because they said Bumpass' cell phone showed he was there hours after he said he dropped off Johnson.

When parole officers went to Jacob Bumpass’s Taylor Mill home on Oct. 4 to arrest him, they found what appeared to be dried blood and two latex gloves in the kitchen sink. Police dogs searched the area around that home on Friday.

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20101014/NEWS010703/310140033/Man-tied-to-missing-teen

Not that this is a big deal or anything, I thought I read that someone posted on here that there was ONE latex glove found, not two? To me that is REALLY suspicious that that was found in his home if you ask me.. You would think that if he was guilty he would of gotten rid of the gloves and cleaned out the blood in the kitchen sink?? That to me is just plain weird that someone would leave incriminating evidence out..JMHO..

The first thing I thought of is my friend often has bloody latex gloves in her sink...because of her son's Broviac Line for his cancer treatment.

However... Jacob's treatment was a few years ago so this shouldn't apply to him.

I also had bloody latex gloves in my sink a few months ago, when my daughter cut off her finger. Bloody paper towels... latex gloves... the floor.... the clothes.... when combined with the red crayon/paint smeared all over the wall... anyone walking in at that moment would have definitely thought someone had been killed here.

If they have connected the blood to Paige, then that's one thing. But why would you bring that stuff back to your house and not just dispose of it with the body?

We are talking about 10+ days that those things would have been in his sink before they were found. Really? How practical is that? He didn't turn on the water in the sink at all in those ten days? Even for a single guy I find that hard to believe...if it was 24 hours after her disappearance it would be different.

I don't know... maybe they also found blood in his house and car. But just what they found in the sink... is a little too obvious for me.

I thought the same thing when I read it. It makes no sense to have evidence laying around your home for that long of a time period. Perhaps it is unrelated to the case at all. I hope so because you hate to think that a friend would harm you of all people. Hopefully more news will come out and it will be good news.

Hey guys...I haven't posted here in years! Not since the Maria Lauterbach case, but this one caught my attention because my hometown is right next to East Fork (Batavia) and I have family from Kentucky. We like to joke and say that Cincinnati is pretty much Kentucky. They should just draw the border up near Columbus. :)

It seems like everyone in southern Ohio has family or good friends just across the river. It doesn't surprise me that someone would think of taking her there. After high school, I moved to the other side of East Fork Lake. A stripper in Covington was picked up in Kentucky and dumped there just a few miles from my house. This was in 1999 (story here: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/1999/09/28/loc_probe_stalls_in.html ) What tipped everyone in the area off to her body was the smell. I hate to say that, but it's true. What someone might have mistaken as the smell of really potent roadkill could have been a very valuable clue if she were no longer among us.

In any case, the whole area out there would probably be pretty good for dumping bodies. My parents live right along Old 32, the two-lane road that runs parallel to 32...it's a heavily wooded area around there and there are many places where she could be. I've just been sitting here and thinking to myself of all the possible places around that area. East Fork Lake is not the only place to dump a body there. There is a little, creepy road called Greenbrier rd not far from there that we used to drive down just to scare each other to death...and a spot there we called the "doughnut hole" (because of kids doing doughnuts in the gravel with their tires) - a big gravel patch where kids would drive to make out, surrounded by woods...I don't even know if it's still there. Haven't been there since I was 18.

It sounds very probable that something terrible has indeed happened to this girl...and that this Jacob knows something. For all we know, it was an accidental death and someone panicked. Being that the guy was on parole, that would certainly be an "oh crap" moment having an underaged girl keel over in your presence. Maybe Jacob, the seemingly gentle giant panicked and thought of someplace remote to take her that he had gone once. I hope and pray that she is safe and in hiding from someone or some situation, but I'm not optimistic.

Very sad.

I still can't believe they are just now beginning to organize a thorough search of that park. I would think that would have started as soon as they got the cell phone pings! I hate to say it, but I really think LE wrote this off as a runaway more than a missing persons case for the first few weeks. That really makes me angry because Cincinnati police did the same thing a year ago when a teen did not come back on time from going jogging and it turned out the girl had been snatched by a serial killer. They have since changed their policies. You'd think others in the area would have learned the same. They haven't tested the blood yet? It's like they just happened to notice it and collected it "just in case this turned into something" but still didn't pursue it. I don't get it. :banghead:

The good news is that this case seems to be picking up steam in the media. It's the lead story or close to it almost every time I watch the news. Hopefully national news will pick it up soon. Someone knows something...and they may not even realize they know it.

Just a thought.

The blood on the gloves may not have been tested to see if they are Paige's yet because they would have to get a DNA sample and create a profile for Paige. Then test it against the evidence.

I'm not sure at what stage they are in that process if at all.

Thinking of you today Paige.

Guys here is a link to the map of the park if you're interested. A large area to search. The entrance where JB's phone pinged is at the top where it says "Afton" by the large green dot. My feeling is she's not far from that entrance. Just a theory.

http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/2/parkmaps/eastforkparkmap.pdf

Also, I discovered today that JB changed his cell phone number right after Paige went missing. He posted on FB that his SIM card fried itself (never heard of a sim card "frying itself"). Covering his tracks??? The article is here and says he kept the same phone but changed his number. ODD ODD ODD behavior!

From the article..
"According to the search warrant, Bumpass changed his phone number after Johnson's disappearance while keeping the same phone."

Link to article.. http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/region_northern_kentucky/florence/covington-police-looking-at-text-messages-exchanged-between-missing-teen-and-jacob-bumpass

Finally, there has been mention of another post on his FB page from just before she went missing. It says something to the effect of "I will kill this part of myself and hate that I see it in you" (Sorry I can't post the exact quote his FB page seems to be overloaded right now and won't load for me) Anyway I googled this line and it seems to be a line in a song called "Blacken the Cursed Sun" by Lamb of God. Possible it's something I suppose but my nieces post just lines of songs all the time on their FB. Most of the time I have to google those. Clearly I am losing my "hip aunt" status very quickly!

COVINGTON, Ky. - The disappearance of 17-year-old Paige Johnson of Florence is expected to hit national airwaves Tuesday night.

CNN's Nancy Grace has scheduled a segment to air on HLN formerly Headline News channel about Johnson live at 8 p.m. and rebroadcast at 10 p.m.
Covington Captain Teal Nally and KyPost.com (http://www.kypost.com/) reporter Jessica Noll are some of the guests.
A large-scale search is scheduled to take place first thing Wednesday morning.
Covington police said Tuesday afternoon that the search involving multiple agencies will begin at East Fork State Park in Batavia.
Fifty to 70 police and fire crews from multiple agencies will begin a ground search at daybreak.
"We're asking for people at this point to stay out of the area, cooperate with us, and let the specially trained search and rescue people do their job without interference," said Lt. Col. Spike Jones of Covington police."

It is great to hear about the large search for Paige Wed. I pray that some answers come soon, but I don't feel it will be good news at this point. NG will get the news out for sure.

Inch and USMC,
Hey there - I am a local too - on the NKY side! If you guys go out, let me know I will join ya!
I agree, seems they wrote her off day one but I am so glad TM and TES might be coming to help.

Hello to another local!! :) If TES comes I would definitely search with them. I'll let you know if I hear anything and you do the same, okay?

I would definitely come help out if I could...but I'm in Japan, right now! The husband is stationed out here for the next two years.

I was just perusing Google Earth, last night. The "doughnut hole" where we used to hang out is still there. Ha! Most people only know about that road if they have been there, though. It is right next door to a trailer park. For the most part, Batavia is a decent little town, but if what I've heard is true, there have been quite a few drug busts in that trailer park and there are a lot of meth dealers in the area. This is all just speculation, so don't take me seriously, but if Jacob, for instance, was visiting drug dealers in the area, they could have led him to meet in a secretive location in the area. The "doughnut hole" I mentioned would be perfect for this, actually.

I am just skeptical about East Fork Lake still...If you've driven back there, you will know why. Imagine that you are driving back there to do something highly illegal - it is one straight, long, road. There are no turn-arounds, no turn-offs for miles and miles, nowhere to hid if a patrol came through...and being that it IS a state park, you'd probably expect a patrol to come rolling through occasionally to check things out, right? Even though there are a lot of trees and lots of places to hide a body, there isn't anywhere to hide a CAR while you hide a body. You'd have to grab the body out of the car REALLY quick, haul tail to the woods, throw it out there and then haul tail back to the car just in case another car comes along. There also may be people coming and going to the campgrounds. It's not really a good place to stop.

Yet, the whole area up there is kind of country...The positive thing is that if this did happen and he left her in East Fork, they should find her relatively quickly with a very large search team, given the relatively short time it took him to get back across the river and ping the cell phone towers on the way back. That's not enough time to trek miles in the woods with a body...and possibly with no flashlight (people don't tend to think of these things in a hurry...unless he was the well-prepared type).

Disclaimer: This is just assuming that Jacob did it, which hasn't been proven. Just using him as the example since he seems to be suspect #1 and his behavior has been suspect as well.

But why would he lie to LE about where he was if he's "innocent"?

Why not cooperate 100%?

What is up with the blood in the sink and different items found in his house?
That's odd..

As NG stated they have sent those items off, but have yet to hear anything back on the results..

Why would he be at a state park wee hours of the morning? again ODD.

I heard on NG that he "supposedly" dropped her off 2 blocks from her sisters house..As NG asks "Why not drop her off at the front door?" again that is odd..Also..why would he change his number?? I don't believed that his sim card "fried itself.." BS!

To me he has G-U-I-L-T-Y stamped on his forehead..I mean I could be wrong, but it's not looking good at this point..I mean he was the last person to see Paige and he lied about where he was at..So many odd and suspicious behaviors on his end to make me think he is innocent JMHO

IMHO the only way anyone would lie to LE about their whereabouts if they were being questions as a POI or Suspect in a homicide case would be because the consequences of telling the truth would be worse than a murder charge/conviction.

I'm hard pressed to think of anything worse at this moment. JMHO.

Agreed...it just seems like all his behavior after the fact was suspect.

#1 he posts on Facebook from his phone at 5am that he has insomnia. I have only seen it mentioned in the media a couple of times but there is a cell phone ping at Kellogg Ave around 5am. That's right at the bridge he would have taken across the Ohio River back into Kentucky.

#2 his half hearted posts (2 of them within about an hour and a half of one another) the day after Paige went missing and then NOTHING. No mention of a good friend of his, who he was last seen with, missing from the say she went missing till the day he was arrested. A lot of BS about him being bored, his friends being fake and feeling things slipping away. As if others around him are questioning him. He seems more concerned with himself than Paige missing. "Normal" friends would be shouting from the rooftops if their friend was missing, yet he just seems to go on as if a friend missing was nothing.

#3 his sim card in his phone is "fried" yet he is still seemingly posting to FB FROM HIS PHONE??? Is this possible?? then there is the number change. Methinks he watched CSI that night and was trying to cover his tracks :)

#4 his brother, who is a known slob, all of a sudden cleaning out his car and "spilling" red paint in the trunk. wth???

I do think that the drive to the lake is just TOO long, though...and there aren't many turn-offs on that road...however, that side road which branches off the main road and is the only branch for a while is probably your best option...There is also a guard post on this rd not too far down from the other doughnut...You probably wouldn't want to go down that far just in case someone happened to be on duty there, would you? At this point, if she is in East Fork, I'd almost put money that she's near the entrance on the main road or she is on that short stretch of road right around the doughnut area and that little road that looks to be either dirt/gravel from Google Earth.

This "doughnut" on the park road #5 (that's what it's called on Mapquest) is .14 miles off the main road going into East Fork. The main road goes in about a half a mile before Cain Rd branches out on the left.

OK I see where you are talking about! I think that dirt road might be a horse trail though, IIRC from when I was down there last week nosing around about the cell tower. Hmmm maybe I will go back tomorrow night after work to take a look. My curiosity will get the best of me. I'll just drive by. I'm not getting out and walking around down there until they give us the all clear. I don't want to be the one who disturbs the evidence that could fry this *&^%$! If it IS a dirt road I think you are right on the money though. And I agree, he knew where he was going. See my post on an earlier page where I talk about the exit signs off of 275. If he was just wanting to go East Fork and did not know the area he would have taken that first exit, IMO. Also, East Fork is a random place to be for someone from Kentucky who has not been to the area before.

I also noticed a small pond in the woods just off the main road that I never saw before. I zoomed in on Google maps when I was looking for your doughnut.

I'm curious on how they are going to go about this search. Wondering if they will grid off smaller sections and take them one by one. They have their work cut out for them, that's for sure!

I'm not a psychic! I hope nobody thought that...I'm just thinking of most viable spots in the East Fork area that should be searched. The doughnut references were coincidental. The psychic stuff, I take with a whole salt shaker of salt. I did see someone wrote down these cell phone tower pings:

1:03 am Tanner's Lane Florence,
1:32 am Wilder, 12.9 miles, 17 minutes
3:00 am Edgewood, 5.2 miles, 10 minutes
4:13 am Filanger Road Batavia, 27.8 miles, 33 minutes
4:18 am East Fork Lake State Park, 22.1 miles, 33 minutes
9:43 am Wilder

But where is the Kellogg Ave one people were talking about? Anyone have an official source where to find this? Because if there was no Kellogg Ave ping, he had over five hours that were unaccountable. Just trying to get the facts straight...How much time he had could make a lot of difference as to where they find her body and where to search. This is why I ask. It's quite a drive back to the lake - especially for a very nervous person.

USMCWife

Still not finding evidence of the Kellogg Ave ping in any media sources, yet. Inch High, I think you said you heard/read this somewhere? Do you remember where? I did happen to look up the location of cell towers around the area:

http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b224/devildogs_doll/?action=view&current=towerpings.jpg

I have marked the pinged towers - one was at Filager Rd (easily pinged if driving down 32 past it) and that one was pinged at 4:13 a.m. Just a few minutes later, another tower was pinged at 4:18 a.m. down the highway a bit - some said this tower was at Half-Acre Road, but I place it a little further to the East at McKeever Rd. It looks like Sprint was Bumpass' cell phone provider. Sprint is the provider who has towers in those locations.

I mapped the tower locations in this area so I could see where the signals may overlap. For instance, if he drove much further than Williamsburg, he could have pinged the tower on the far right. If he drove too far to the north, he could have pinged the tower near the top of the page. East Fork Lake is a big park...if he had gone on the southern side of the park, he would have pinged those towers. It gives a very definitive area of where searchers should look - a cone of possibility.

I would still like to know what cell phone pings occurred between 4:18 a.m. and 9:43 a.m. when he was back in Wilder. Thought I'd go in depth a little more about why this info is important...Right now, you could practically draw on a map a square of where she could be. That square could be significantly shrunk if there is proof of a tower ping on Kellogg Ave around 5:00 a.m. If that evidence does exist, it's unlikely she's in the lake. I've driven all those roads a thousand times. You can only go so fast. You can't defeat time and distance.

Thank God for cell phone towers - It's really amazing the stuff they can find out with cell phones alone.

Still not finding evidence of the Kellogg Ave ping in any media sources, yet. Inch High, I think you said you heard/read this somewhere? Do you remember where? I did happen to look up the location of cell towers around the area:

I heard it on Channel 12 a couple of times, but only there and I haven't heard it since. My ears perked up because I knew he had posted on FB around that time. I will try to see if I can find something on their website. I originally posted about it on the 15th and the story about the pings broke on the 14th so it had to have been one of those two days I heard it. NG had the pings mapped on her show last night and I was trying hard to specifically look for that one since it seems to be a possible missing link but they kept showing the shot too fast. I wish we could get the entire list of pings because that could help tremendously.

If I can't find anything I will email Joe Webb because I think he was the one covering the story at the time.

I'll let you know!

USMCWife

Thank you! I swear I thought I heard it somewhere, too! But I haven't seen it in writing anywhere. If that's true, I hope they search the woods around the entrance or some of the side roads off Old 32....because if you look at that cell phone map, if he drove all the way down to the lake, he could have pinged other towers (which he may have and the media/police may have thought this information was only vital to the investigators so didn't think it worth mentioning), particularly if he took the road that went all the way down to the lake. It's a pretty decent drive, he could have pinged the tower in Amelia driving that distance.

However, if he took the campground route (the road that runs parallel to Cain Rd. and that connects via what you were thinking might be a horse trail?), then he would stay in range of the cell phone tower at Half-Acre Rd the entire time. (Actually looks like it's located at McKeever Rd.). I hope someone out there is thinking of all this stuff. If she doesn't turn up in East Fork or some of the deserted side roads, it's always possible she was dumped over on the North side of 32. Nothing but rural homes and farms over there. I just hope they find her today. If not, remember Carrie Culberson? Never found her body either and they still prosecuted.

I just shot Joe an email. The way the web stories update all the time it's nearly impossible to find an old report! I'll let you know what I hear from him.

Looking at the map I just had another thought. (I'm looking at Google at the park entrance off of Old 32) there is a road that runs parallel called Afton-Elklick Road. Now when looking at this map it appears that the two roads merge however I can tell you they do not. There is a guard rail at the merge and Afton-Elklick dead ends there. Possible that he parked his car there and then went into the surrounding woods from there? Might be easier to go undetected at 4am on that road rather than the actual park road.

Also, you mention the possibility of him dumping her north of 32 and I agree. There is a fairly large pond right off of 32 heading west, just after you pass the Half-Acre Road entrance/exit ramps.

Okay I'd better quit playing detective and go to work! Good thing I have somewhat flexible hours! I heard the search was going to start at 7am so they have been searching an hour already. Praying for those men and women and hopefully they will find something quickly. Channel 12 says they will be out there (all stations will I'm sure) so I will be glued to their website at work!

I agree that the "authorities" have for the most part been treating this as a runaway. After reading an article on October 8th in the KY Enquirer, I called the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children to volunteer. I was told the volunteer co-ordinator didn't work on weekends, but I could leave a voice mail, which I did, complete with phone number. I then called the Covington Police said I would like to volunteer to do anything, put up/passout flyers of Paige. The person I talked to was Douglas. He said the family was responsible for putting up the flyers. End of discussion. To this date, I have not heard anything from the National Center.
Two other pieces of information. Facebook page called: Paige you are safe here Currently has over 8000 people associated with it.
There will be a benefit for Paige at Paint Yourself Silly store this Friday between 7 and 10 pm in Covington on Decoursey St.

It stinks feeling helpless, cpatz. I completely understand. If I weren't in a foreign country, right now, I would be out searching the other areas around East Fork. My mom lives right down the road from there.

What's weird is that just last night a friend of mine posted that her dad was missing on Facebook. This morning, he still wasn't home so she started a Facebook page for him. About an hour ago, they got some bad news about her dad. All we know is that he is gone...I'm wondering if we're going to get more news like that, today. It's a big area to cover. I hope they find something to give her family some peace.

sorry if this was already mentioned but if I'm not mistaken, cops have checked JB's cell phone pings which show he was not where he said he was.

I thought someone also mentioned that LE has pings from Paige's cell phone.

to anyone's knowledge have the two been cross-referenced to see if they were in the same locations?

I mean if JB's phone was pinging 20 miles away from where Paige's phone was pinging then it would seem to me that they were not together.

at the same time if he was posting on FB by mobile, there should be a significant electronic trail of where he was that night/morning.

There are no Tolls; but there are Artimis cameras if that footage is stored somewhere that might be something LE could review but most likely they would only see his car, but not passengers or useful info.

They will decide later tonight what is next.
No sign of Paige and recovered "only a few items that might possibly be evidence"
No major breakthrough.
Briefing tonight with all the agencies and they think we will know by 9pm - if and when the search will continue.
We should also know tonight if search will move from the land to the lake.

if they get an image of his car going into OH and then coming back to KY later, it would narrow down the window of time.

for instance, if he was only in OH for say one hour, it did not give much time to do much so if there is a body (not accusing anyone of murder), it could not be far inland. the longer the time he was in OH obviously expands the universe of places he could have gone.

Yes, the pings I listed were from Jacob Bumpass' phone. Paige didn't have a cell phone, according to her family. She did leave a message on her sister's Facebook after midnight, that night, saying she needed to talk to her immediately and her sister said something about how she should text her. That seems to be the last anyone officially heard from her. I'm wondering how Paige was supposed to text her if she didn't have a phone, though? Maybe it was common for her to borrow other's/Bumpass' phone?

In any case, just saw the video on WLWT's website. Looks like they are doing a wonderful job with their search. They are searching the exact areas, in the park, that we've all been talking about.

The "like a fish" comment, I automatically assumed he meant that he was "drunk like a fish". It could have been posted through adrenaline because he had just hid her somewhere he thought she would never be found and because he needed to give himself an "alibi" - "No way, I couldn't have driven that night. I was drunk...see, I can prove it..." The cell phone pings would prove him wrong, though.

I'm assuming that she would of used her grandma's phone or JB's phone to text her sister. I assume this because she was with him..

I have a question though..Why would he think that changing his number he would erase the evidence?? I mean when you get your number changed it doesn't erase texts/call log that I know of..Even though he "fried" his sim card they were/are still able to pull up texts/calls/pings via the phone company so to me it just seems weird that he would change his number..

simple answer. he thought he was being smart but not smart enough. he should have left the phone at home. however, he figured if he had it with him, he could make it look like he was doing something rather than having a huge gap in time between uses.

http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/region_northern_kentucky/florence/covington-police-looking-at-text-messages-exchanged-between-missing-teen-and-jacob-bumpass

I thought about this myself. He probably thought that they wouldn't be able to look up his cell phone data if he changed numbers. I really don't think this guy is the brightest bulb if you know what I mean. Esp if that really turns out to be her blood in his place.

Wow, what a mix of emotions I feel right now. Sad that they didn't find anything but at the same time glad they didn't find her dead, you know? I know the chances are very unlikely she's alive but part of me wants to hold on to a small glimmer of hope.

USMCWife, I am sorry to hear about your friends father.

On the Artimis cameras- excellent point that they could see him coming and going. At that time of morning, not too much traffic to worry about so would not be hard to narrow down which car was his. I'm curious if those are cameras that are recorded though or if they are just strictly to monitor traffic as it is happening. Going to try to figure that out. I'm thinking a friend of mine has connections at Artimis- I'll ask him.

So, I just got home and I stopped by East Fork on the way home to make a couple of observations. I wanted to check out the dirt trail we were wondering about last night, USMCWife and also time how long it would take me to from the bridge to EF. The drive was 23 minutes at 6:40 in the evening, so a little bit of traffic but not significant. Less than at 4:00 in the morning though.

The dirt road we were looking at is definitely a horse trail. Not large enough for a car to pass through.

Several Mobile "command center" type vehicles were still there- one huge with a satellite thingie like the media have on their trucks. At first I thought it was the media. I didn't hang around long or get too nosy. Needless to say there were a lot of LE there and I didn't want to be questioned as to why the heck I was there when it was nearly dusk! :)

I did not hear back from Joe yet about the tower at Kellogg. I'm taping NG tonight though so I can pause the DVR this time and get a good look at that dang map of the pings!

The other thing I was thinking about was the abandoned Ford Plant. Kind of think it's unlikely but who knows. UC has taken over part of the building but I believe most of it, and the area around it, is empty. I'm wondering if he would have had some connection where he would have had knowledge of that plant- a friend/relative that worked that who he had visited there in the past maybe. I don't know...just thinking out loud. There are a lot of large ponds in that area too.

Exactly! And honestly, I don't think the general public realizes how much information is available from cell phone records. We were talking about this at work a few months ago and people around me were shocked (and some appalled) when I told them that pings are traced and text messages are saved and can be subpoenaed. We know it because we are interested in this kind of thing, but I don't think it's general knowledge, honestly. I would bet my home that IF he is guilty he thought he was covering his tracks with the number change and the sim card thing. He probably realized AFTER the fact that his pings could be traced and thought changing his number would solve that problem. Of course he needed his phone with him so he could post from FB and make it look like he was just at home unable to sleep. Hell he probably didn't even realize that FB shows that you are posting from your phone and thought he could use that as his alibi. "How could I be on my computer posting on FB if I was not at home?" We could definitely change the first four letters of his last name into something else and that would fit him just fine...if you know what I mean ;)

I'm SORRY for the multiple posts. Nancy had a MUCH larger map of the pings tonight and she had it on the screen for a while. I was able to pause my DVR long enough to take a picture of my TV set (don't laugh!)

The 5:00 AM Ping at the bridge is on her map! It is not labeled aside from the time. It's not real obvious where exactly it is if you're not from the area so I added a line and label to the Ohio River to give you an idea. The river is the boundary between the states. This bridge is approximately 20-25 minutes from East Fork via SR 32.

Link to my pic at the bottom of the post.

Now, given he was at the river at 5:00 AM if we back up ~ 20 min from that that puts us at 4:40 AM at East Fork. Assume the ping at 4:18 is when he arrived at the park that gives him 22 minutes to do whatever he did. Given he was pinged near Paige's house just before 3:00 this gives us about and hour and 15 min unaccounted for. Factor in approximately 40 min drive time from Paige's house to the Filager Road tower this leaves about a half hour.

Then you have the whole FB post shortly after 5:00 AM when he would have been right around the bridge. Was he posting while diving, did he pull over or was someone driving him?

OMG I just went back to look at his page to view the times again and I found another post that I have not seen mentioned anywhere. He commented on a "friend's" photo at 1:38AM on the 23rd. He had a ping at 1:32 in Wilder. Thank good these fools leave their FB's wide open for us! Man does he get around and post to FB at the same time.

So what do we make of all of this sleuths?

methinks if there is a body to be found, it is at that state park.

a very unusual location for someone to be at that hour of the night.

I didn't know about the 5:00 am ping at the bridge. I didn't see that in the media. Was that on NG or someplace else? That is the most important ping of all to me. Given the short time frame of around 20 minutes once you subract the 20 min drive back to the bride that gives him 20 minutes to get whatever done.

A bit of random info about East Fork. It is a med sized lake with two main public access points. The northern side (where they have been searching) has hiking trails, camping areas (swiming beach is enclosed), boat ramps and horseback riding. The southern entrance has hiking trails, boat ramps and a swimming beach.

Since the alleged POI isn't from this area it might be helpful to know what his frame of reference for the area is. For instance would he have used the area for camping, horseback riding or boating? That could point to which areas he might have had some familiarity with. For instance a person who used the park for boating might be more familiar with the roads and trails nearer the boat ramps. If he used the park for horseback riding he might be more familiar with the horse trails, etc.

If you have remains in a car and are entering a state park that closed at dusk, you wouldn't want to be driving around aimlessly because you might attract more attention to yourself. You would most likely drive to a familiar area, drop off your package a little ways off from a trail and go back to your vehicle and leave.

Thanks for the info about the park. That is what bothers me. I wonder if this person knew about this huge state park or if he just took off driving out into the country until he found a secluded spot far away from home. If he did go into the park, I would think he got in and out like a bat out of hell because it's risky even if it's night. He could have chose a woody spot off a dirt road near the park, but not in it. I hope that they extend their search if she isn't found in the park to include some other areas around here.

I wish I could see a better map. LOL, great effort though! It is hard enough to make a copy from a TV broadcast. From what I can tell it looks right for a body dump, although he did more driving around than what I would have expected.

Last Ky ping was 2:58, first Oh ping was 4:13. That makes it about an hour and 15 min between pings. It would take about an hour to get there. Ok next Oh ping is 4:15, about 15 min later. And he was moving as the pings are fairly wide apart. Back at the river about 5 am.

Now considering he had to find somewhere out of the way, at night/stop or park his vehicle where it wouldn't be noticed. Remove things from the vehicle, and carry a dead weight along with a flashlight. Remember he would be walking on rough terrain, with bushes, brambles and fallen logs or grass clumps. From that I am thinking not too far off the road. From the amount of time he was in the area, I am thinking he may have dug a shallow grave or maybe hacked some brush to cover the remains.

Alternative is that he parked, got out the flashlight and her remains and walked quite a ways into the woods. He would have been fighting the terrain and the plant growth all the way. I don't think he would have been likely to do that unless he had a particular place in mind.

Unknown factors: I don't know if there are any caves in the area. Or wells. Also in nearby Batavia there is some old growth trees, I think Sycamores, that are still growing, but are completely hollow in the middle. I don't know if there are any in EF.

I also don't think he likely walked too far to dispose of her body. I really doubt he knew the area that well, but it's possible. He couldn't have been there more than 20min since he was back at the bridge at 5am. Plus, the further he walked from his vehicle, the greater chance somebody could come along and catch him in the act. I think he was in and out as quickly as possible with a quick cover up.

How about during the 1:32 to 2:58 time frame?

I think that was probably reaction/recovery/planning/preparation time.

Ok, imagine you had killed someone. First there is physical exertion, there is also an emotional reaction (whether it is coming down from adrenaline or guilt and sadness there is always some type of reaction). All make it hard to think at first, unless you are practiced at this. And I don't think this was someone with practice. So they would have needed some recovery time.

What to do what to do. Is there anyone available to help you? Do you call police or cover up? What will you need to cover up? Where to go, anyone you can call to help? What will you need?

Then there is preparation. Do you need to pack shovels, pails, body covered or not. Then getting remains to the vehicle.

I'm really impressed with the search they are doing. They seem really on top of things. I wish I could see Nancy Grace! The only TV I get out here is an Armed Forces Network satellite and we only get a few watchable channels. I may as well be living in a well!

Searchers returned to East Fork State Park this morning to look for evidence that could indicate what happened to Paige Johnson, a 17-year-old who went missing Sept. 23 in Northern Kentucky.

This will be the second day of the coordinated search of the park that encompasses more than 10,000 acres spanning three Clermont County townships.

The search concentrated on the park because Jacob Bumpass, 22, of Taylor Mill - who police said was the last person known to have seen Paige - sent a text message from the area about 4:18 a.m. on Sept. 23.

I mean maybe he/someone made Kool Aid (doubtful) and they wore gloves so they didn't get Kool Aid on their hands/fingers (gloves found in the sink with what appeared to be blood on them)..I mean Kool Aid does stain hands red, I mean maybe that's all that was??:waitasec: But with all the odd behavior like lying to LE, not cooperating, and the cell phone pings I'm starting to think that isn't Kool Aid..:(

I was amused by her statements about being a guy who defended women, who fought other men because they were harming their women. That really doesn't tell anyone how he was with his friend, only that he either liked to appear as a big shot or he liked to fight. Or he thought the woman was hot.

OK, so if you are a stage 4 cancer survivor and part Indian that means you can't be a murderer? Huh? I'm sorry he had cancer but so did my grandpa and he was one of the meanest people I have known. Cancer does not make someone a saint.

I have seen posts on FB and the news sites from people who knew him who say he (and his brother) both have terrible tempers. Granted, who knows if these people are telling the truth but I would say what mom says about the McD drive-thru speaks for itself.

And I'm sorry, if you're on parole and they say no weapons, that means no weapons, period. Last time I checked a tomahawk was considered a weapon. I don't care if they are supposed to be "decorative" or not. Someone could put a gun in a framed glass box and call it a decoration, it's still a gun. What were his priors? Am I correct in thinking one of them was robbery? I wonder if he had a weapon then? Oh and she conveniently overlooks the fact that he also violated his parole by having marijuana and alcohol. :waitasec:

I read a comment on a news site that I want to research a little further. I'll be back if I find something. :)

ETA: Forgot to say, it was hard to see for sure but it looked like there might have been a red stain in the sink. I could be seeing things, the reporters hand was in the way and after trying about 500 times to pause it in the right place where I could get a good look at it, I gave up. And how weird is it that that landlord let the press in his house? Note to self: make sure house is always clean in case you get arrested and it ends up on TV. :D

I thought I read that they "thought" it was blood and was doing tests on it to determine it then I looked it up and they said that they "did find blood" in the sink and traces of blood on the latex gloves in the sink..

http://www.fox19.com/Global/story.asp?S=13340198

~(Snip)~

"Captain Teal Nally with Covington Police says that earlier this month, parole officers found dried blood and two latex gloves in Bumpass' kitchen sink. Police say the blood has not been forensically tested to see if belongs to Paige."

http://www.eaglecountryonline.com/news.php?nID=869

~(Snip)~

"Investigators obtained a search warrant for Bumpass’ Taylor Mill home. Inside, the say they found dried blood and latex gloves in a sink. Test results on the blood are pending."

How long does it take for DNA test to come back to determine who's blood that is? Can't they do a preliminary test to get faster results?

This! Yes IN the sink. Not ON the counter. I would not describe what that reporter was pointing to as "in the sink." And that LL could have planted the "kool-aid" there for all we know.

Meh, it didn't turn out to be much, darn it. Someone had posted that there was a video on FB from a while back of him driving from Ohio to Ky 80MPH at 4 in the morning (at least according to the time on the clock on his car) I wanted to see if he was driving on 275 (the highway he would have taken going to/from East Fork. Wanted to see if there were signs on there that would tell us that he had been to EF or at least the area at that same time of the morning in the past. It was not 275 though. At least not the part of 275 that runs from Batavia to Ky.

It was posted on July 3rd if anyone is curious. The caption is "Pretty good dd. LOL" DD=drunk driving?

I wonder if the entrances to East Lake State Park have hidden cameras that record vehicles entering and leaving the park?

Also, are there any traffic lights that have traffic flow cameras next to the traffic lights between the state park and I-275?

There are no traffic flow cameras on 32 but there is one on 275 AT 32. Here's a link. The 32 one is on the far right of the map (east). We don't have red light cameras here.

If there are cameras at the lake I'm not aware of them. I have seen car counters, but no cameras.

Yes, it's me again. Sorry, just thinking about this A LOT while working tonight and I just came up with a potential new angle of looking at this.

Suppose his first idea WAS to dump her in the lake or in the park. He gets out there and for whatever reason decides not to. Maybe he gets spooked by a ranger patrolling or whatever. So the next ping we have is at 5:00 AM at Kellogg Ave and the next one is not until 9:43 back over in the area where he lives. (This is assuming we have all the pings) All this time I have been ASSUMING that he pinged at Kellogg because he was crossing the bridge, but what if he DIDN'T cross the bridge? What if he got off 275 at the Kellogg Ave exit? Kellogg runs parallel to the river and there is a small amusement park there and a amphitheater, etc. It's closed for the winter, of course. There are also plenty of other places down there to access the river, or even wooded areas to dump her along Kellogg. God if she's in that river she may never be found.

Remember he was posting around 5AM. If he was driving anything like he was driving in the video I saw there is no way he could post while driving. Did he pull off at Kellogg and post real quick for an alibi, then dump her? And then did God knows what until the next ping? There are Artimis cameras in that area. Still need to find out if they record or just monitor. My friend is out of town and I have not heard back from him to see if he has a contact there.

How about another possible angle here. Let's suppose that he took the back roads rather than the main roads on either side of the river to dump a body.

The thinking here is that the back roads would have a whole lot less traffic than being on the main roads. And a whole lot less chance of being noticed.

Are there any back roads say where he could have parked his vehicle on the top or the side of a hill to dump her down a heavily wooded embankment or ravine?

Or an area along the back roads that very few folks would go to?

Yes, so Kellogg Runs parallel to the Ohio River but it's not right next to the river. In most spots there is a decent distance between. That's where the amusement park is there is also a horse track there, marinas, many areas to access the river. Just west of 275 there is a town called California..handful side streets that dead end at the river. Further west Kellogg crosses the Little Miami River, a smaller river, a tributary that empties into the Ohio. West of that is a municipal airport north of kellogg and some marinas and industrial areas south, next to the river. All good places, some woods there too. Then as you move further west you get into what's called the East End. One of Cincinnati's oldest areas. More side streets there. It's not the best area of town, certainly not the worst though. My take is that people would mind their own business around there and not be too concerned about a car out of place. East of 275 you have the amusement park, the race track a little bit of industry, then it starts getting a bit rural. There is a park, but there is no entrance from Kellogg, you'd need to take a few back roads to get to the entrance. However he could have entered on foot from the Kellogg side. It would be all woods. Trying to picture...I think it's pretty steep there though.

The Kentucky side I'm not as familiar with. I grew up here in Ohio and work over there but people tease me that Kentucky is like a foreign country to me. I know how to get to about five places over there and that's it. And one of those is my office and one the Cincinnati airport. LOL Anyway, the next exit is a ways down and he would have had to have gotten off at that exit and then doubled back to the river area. I'd need someone from Kentucky to weigh in on that. News Junkie are you familiar?

I read that, too, Laddsy...Seems to be some kind of beef between Paige and Brittany and that Tawny girl. I don't know what that was about...but the mystery surrounding all that probably holds a very big key as to why this happened. Bumpass seemed VERY protective of Tawny. I wonder why...I wish Brittany was talking a little more about what the hell was up with this Tawny and why they seemed to dislike her. She knows. There was some bad blood there. Nobody is saying what is was over. There could be a ton of reasons for that - illegal activities not the least.

I hate to say it, but when you read about their circle of friends, there are a lot of drugs involved, several references to cocaine. I'm almost wondering if Paige's death was purely accidental. Here's where I start thinking of scenerios...She OD'd at Bumpass' place. Bumpass, whom, by every indication seemed to be trying to get his life together (he was even going to go into the Army, but then he got arrested for the charges he was on probation from), did not want this on his hands. Maybe he liked Paige, but she OD'd and died...and that ticks him off because it was at HIS house...maybe from HIS stash. He knows this means jail for him, again, for many major violations of parole and is even wondering if they can get him for murder for providing the drugs/alcohol that killed her. By dumping her body, he sees it as making her not HIS responsibility anymore.

If this scenerio were true, he probably wouldn't dump her body in East Fork, would he? He'd probably dump her body somewhere near where he told police he last saw her. Maybe he thought about dumping her there and realized it would make it look like he killed her so he thought it would be best to take her somewhere where a drug-addicted girl would likely keel over and die after over-dose. Somewhere urban where dealers hang in the streets or in a location where people sneak off to do drugs. If I were her friends, I'd be thinking about this. Bumpass was their friend, too. Likely they knew the hangouts nearby that people went to when they wanted to be alone.

There is also another scenerio that he bought some drugs off a dealer and they were laced with something she had an allergic reaction to, etc. Being the protective guy he is, he went and beat down the dealer's door (out near Batavia) at 4 in the morning to show them what their laced drugs had done and to threaten him/her. Fits with the personality of the McDonald's story and with every other account of his character by friends. The gentle giant defending one of his ingenue friends.

Of course none of this paints Paige in a very positive light...however, I withhold judgment on her. She was/is only 17, beautiful, and from the comments I read by her, very sweet. I can't see her making anyone mad enough to KILL her. This sounds like a case of her being a troubled girl with a ridiculously rough life for her age, but an innocent bystander. Maybe she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe she was into drugs with some of her other friends or just getting into them and something bad happened. Bumpass changing his cell #, claiming his SIM card was fried, etc. proves to me that he had SOMETHING to do with taking her to wherever she is, now.

They're tracing all these pings...what about pings in the days following the last time she was seen alive? Maybe he drove all the way out there and realized he couldn't do it. He drove around half the night, couldn't do it, so he went back home...and did some research, thought about it, and dumped her the next day? Sorry...brain working overtime again. All just speculations.

It's rural in this area, so there are a lot of back roads. Not real hilly, but there are hills in some areas. And there are a lot of deep ditches. But for all of those, he would need to be real familiar with the area prior to that night. Because at night, it is harder to differentiate between the beginning of woods and the beginning of a brushy or overgrown field.

LOL, if I were thinking to dump something, I would probably would have chosen somewhere other than than EF to do it. At EF you would have hikers and rangers and horseback riders roaming around. You couldn't be sure that someone wouldn't across remains.

Okay, need your help. Tomorrow is the national "Make a Difference Day" What better way to make a difference then to find Paige. I would be ecstatic if it were a happy endiing, but it has been over a month since her disappearence. So far, by accounts, the Clermont and Boone County and Covington Police searched for two days at East Fork Lake, by foot, horseback and ATV with no results. The Doe Run Lake area and the road leading to the lake area have been searched. The area around the vacant VFW in Latonia and the Banklick River in that area have been checked. And last but not least, the woods at the corner of 32 and McKeever and in the creek before that area on 32. checked the other side of McKeever near 32 and another bridge over there, sorry about the last part after Doe Run Lake, I cut and pasted from the facebook Paige you are safe here. Any suggestions? My weekend is free. I don't think East Fork Lake is even worth going to, most of the tracks will have been made by the LE's efforts in the past couple of days.

Ha! That's ok...I'm actually not far from East Fork at all. Grew up in Cincinnati, lived all over the area and live in Batavia now.

You could see signs and overpasses. I paused several times to see the signs but the video was too blurry. He was in Ohio though for at least some of it because I could make out the shape of the state on one sign that showed another highway off the exit.

There was a wall down the median. 275 has wires and not a wall out here. I know 71 has a wall, and I think 75 does in places too. I never could tell when he crossed the bridge back into Ky. There was some awful, angry music playing in the background. I ended up muting it because it was so awful. Not my taste at all! :)

I'm not familiar with a Route 6 around here. Not sure there is one? Was it in Ky or Ohio? In Ohio all the State Route signs are a black number with a white background in the shape of Ohio with a black frame around it.

If it was the same colors but round instead of the shape of Ohio, that is Kentucky.

I was just finding several convos about drugs on August 31st on his MySpace. He knew dealers. It's so obvious. And he knew them well enough that he was probably a customer. There are a lot of drugs manufactured out in Clermont and Brown counties. You're always seeing busts going on in the news.

Agree that they do seem to be involved with drugs in some way- or at least are very familiar with the lingo. Tried to find something on 3s and all I could find was what you said- Tylenol 3. I have heard that there is a trailer park out by EF that is well known for meth and drugs. Not sure how true it is, could just be gossip. But yes, USMC, you're right about the drugs out here. Part of me wonders if she was with him when he drove out here (alive) and they got drugs together, then, like you said she, OD'd or had an allergic reaction later. I wish someone would have seen them at a gas station or something. Obviously the dealer would not come forward. To him/her Paige would just be collateral damage. Ugh, that kills me- how can people live with themselves?

I was looking over his FB page this morning and came across two things that were interesting to me. First, he mentioned visiting his parole officer and being subjected to a random drug test. Stupid that he would be doing drugs then but I'm sure he thought he was invincible and wasn't worried about it. Second, he made some comment about liking nature but not being out in it. This leads me to believe he wasn't a camper, hiker, etc. So if he did know EF...how did he know it?

Yep, that's the Greenbriar trailer park right there...I lived in there for about a year when I was a little girl, but had plenty of friends that lived in there. One friend's mom gave her a huge bag of marijuana for her 18th birthday. Drugs were everywhere around there and some of the isolated houses out there make growing and manufacturing illegal drugs easier.

I've been wondering if Paige could have been alive when he made the trip out there. Maybe she nagged him for some drugs and he drove her out to his supplier to get them...and then she overdosed or had some kind of reaction to whatever she took. His talking about "knowing a guy" who gave him the Oxycontin info tells me the guy knew dealers pretty well. That doesn't mean HE took them himself, though. He does say several times that he doesn't take them...and in an earlier FB post, he knocks on friends for taking drugs. Yet, he also has a post telling people he is NOT their drug dealer and to quit calling him whenever they want drugs.

Paige's comment leads me to believe she took 3's at least once and really enjoyed her experience with them. I'm wondering where and if Paige worked. How would she get the money for that stuff? It's a terrible, terrible thing to think about, but sometimes girls will trade certain favors for drugs. From everything I read, Paige seems to have kind of idolized Bumpass. Almost like a father figure. She really cared about his opinion of her. It's still hard for me to imagine him killing her. It would be like drowning a puppy dog.

If it weren't for lawyers and trials and all the complication that comes with, Bumpass probably would have already admitted this if it is true, but lawyers are probably telling him to keep his trap shut so they can figure out how to get him out of this with the minimum sentence.

I'm not in the habit of visiting drug dealers, but was wondering what the reaction of a dealer might be for a customer to show up at that time of the morning? I mean he was in Ky at 1:30 am, so the earliest that he could have gotten to EF would have been about 2:15 am to 2:30 am.

Are you saying your google map exit pic and the exit in the video are the same? I disagree. The google pic is 71-s at Ridge (took that exit for 10 years of my life :) ) In the video the highway sign on the right has state route signs or some other highway signs at the top of it. BUT you have a good point...I was not thinking of him being that far up 71 heading south so I am going to watch it again and see if anything looks familiar. Now I am curious and have to figure it out!

I think I figured out where he is at from photos of the interstate signs and exit #9. Plus, look at the overpass he goes under with the lights right after exit 9. It matches this photo identically, even the concrete pillars on the overpass sides. See what you think.

I looked at the video on FB. I took screen caps and enhanced the images. He goes by an exit for route 6 on the right during the video. I am not from the area, but could he be on 75.

I found a link that lists all the highway numbers for Kentucky and Ohio:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_numbered_highways_in_Kentucky

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_numbered_highways_in_Ohio

I also found a link that list the exit numbers for I-71 and I-75 in Ohio:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_71_(Ohio)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_75_(Ohio)

What I found to be interesting was that there is an exit 6 for both I-71 and I-75 in the Cincinnati area.

Exit 6 on I-71 is the exit for Edwards Road, Smith Road and State Route 561 in Norwood.

Exit 6 on I-75 is the exit for Mitchell Avenue in St.Bernard.

Now there is a interchange with U.S. Route 6 and I-75, but that's way up in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Heh- I was just coming here to post! That is exactly where he is...good work!! I watched the video again a min ago and realized he went under the Paddock Road Bridge (the one in your google pic) it says "Cincinnati" in lights. So he's definitely on 75 South. He does not cross the bridge into Ky yet- he's too far north when the tape stops.

Pretty impressive for a non local! :)

yep! I-75 and I-71 connect down in Kentucky and then split once you cross the Ohio River. Both start with Exit 1 there and then go up as you move North.

I should have known from the amount of traffic at 4AM that he was on 75. That is probably the most heavily traveled highway here. It runs from Detroit to Ft Lauderdale. I hate driving on it...too many trucks. I wonder where he was coming from that time of night?

I went for a ride just to get a feel for a few areas.
When I get a walking buddy - I will look at these spots more.
Here is a link to pics I took today.
Start at the bottom:
http://s158.photobucket.com/albums/t105/LifeCoachOnTheCouch/Derby%20Ridge%20and%20Points%20of%20Interest/
Derby Ridge apartments he spoke of on FB - lots of Dumpsters and woods with drop off's.
I also took pics of the last few exits in KY before the bridge off I-275. I got off on Kellogg Road - went both ways and really didn't see anyplace convient and hidden except one road that runs by Coney Downs and by exit ramp getting off highway.
Also took pics of the GAP I think he was working at.

Last sentence - but your right, the focus was not on who it should have been in this article or video.

"I’m waiting on the investigation to run its course. I know they will find nothing because Jacob would never have harmed his friend, Paige. He takes up for complete strangers, and she is his friend," she wrote.A $1,000 reward (http://www.nkyyouth.org/e-mail-alerts/missing-teen-family-support/) has been offered for information leading to Paige Johnson.

I do know that Cincinnati is in the tri-state area. So how about Indiana?

On the night that Paige disappeared, I have to wonder if he could have turned off his cell phone and went to Indiana, maybe somewhere along the Lawrenceburg area.

If he was on 75 South, he could have been coming from 74 or 275. I'm not from the area, but I'm down there a lot, so I'm trying to remember where that exit is in relation to other things - he could be coming from Colerain, perhaps - he could have taken Cross County over to 75. Colerain isn't a bad part of town, really, but I do know drugs can be common in some parts. Or maybe from some part of 275. Hard to say - on maps it looks further away, but everything in the Cincinnati area is pretty close. He could even have been coming from West Chester - hard to say, other than a party, what would have him out there at that time.

If he was on 75 South, he could have been coming from 74 or 275. I'm not from the area, but I'm down there a lot.

I'm not from the Cincinnati area myself, but I have been through Cincinnati and the tri state area many times myself.

I-74 does go into Indiana. On I-74, it's 17 miles from the Indiana-Ohio border to the junction of I-74 and I-75 in Cincinnati.

And I-275 does go into Indiana, right outside of Lawrenceburg.
everything in the Cincinnati area is pretty close.
I just took a look at road map of the Cincinnati and tri state area at Mapquest. I found the travel time for the following areas:

Florence, KY to Lawrenceburg, IN 28 minutes / 22.71 miles

Covington, KY to Lawrenceburg, IN 33 minutes / 25.74 miles

Batavia, OH to Lawrenceburg, IN 51 minutes / 46.13 miles

According to Mapquest, the quickest way to get to any of the above areas means that he would have to travel on I-275 in Kentucky to get there. So yes, everything in the Cincinnati and tri state areas are pretty close.

Now I do realize and I do fully understand that his video was taken several weeks before Paige Johnson disappeared.

As for where he could have been or what he was doing on the interstate during the middle of the night in his video, anything is possible.

Hmmm...what to make of that? An abortion? A threatened suicide? Running away for whatever reason? Then again, if she was threatening suicide, it would have been all over. Her boyfriend would have said something, Bumpass would have said something...

Running away? Why? And where? Would she run away and leave her child and her boyfriend behind? Or are they talking about a different 'her'? Man, to be a fly on the wall in the PD...I thought those people on that Jersey Shore show had drama, Northern Kentucky has enough drama to be its own reality show.

COVINGTON - When Paige Johnson went missing Sept. 23, Lisa Little wondered if the 17-year-old Florence girl may be in trouble.

The 37-year-old Little didn't want Paige to think she couldn't reach out for help because of past differences. Little once banned her own teenage daughter from hanging out with Paige because she was a "trouble maker."

Here is a useful link that has a map to show the locations of cell phone towers in a given area.

http://www.cellreception.com/towers/

Just type in the area that you're interested in. It loads a map with red pins. Click on the red pin and it tells you where the cell phone tower is located at.

You can also pan the map to your left or right to see the locations of cell phone towers in a wider area. You can also click on the comments regarding how the cell phone reception is in a given area.

From what I was able to understand about cell phones, the cell phone towers can ping your cell phone if it is turned off. If your phone has GPS capability, it can locate if the phone is turned off. However, I don't think it can ping if the cell phone battery is dead or taken out.

The biggest question I have about cell phone towers is how many miles does one cell phone tower cover?

On the night that Paige disappeared, I just wonder if it's possible that he was somewhere between the AA Highway and the Ohio River in Kentucky, but his cell phone pinged a tower in Ohio.

Just saw on FB that money raised at a fundraiser is going completely to Paige's mom. First, it was just part of it (the lion's share) and the rest to the Foundation that has offered the reward so that the reward could be increased. Now an individual form the foundation posted that Paige's mother asked them for the rest of the money. Something about all of this is not sitting right with me. I realize that people react to things differently, but I have barely seen or heard from this woman since Paige went missing, I have not heard of her actively searching or anything yet she's collecting funds? I don't have kids but if one of my nieces was missing you would not be able to get my mug off of the TV. According to the paper here, Paige's daughter is with the father's family, so the money certainly did not go towards that. As a matter of fact, that family refused money and stated they would like it to go towards the reward. Then Paige's mom swoops in and grabs it.

Flame if you will, this is just REALLY bothering me. It reminds me of other greed that showed itself when people were missing in other cases. I understand this woman may have fallen on hard times, even before Paige's disappearance, but believe me- there are PLENTY of organizations within the Greater Cincinnati area that provide assistance. Why take it from reward money to find your missing child????

I understand this woman may have fallen on hard times, even before Paige's disappearance, but believe me- there are PLENTY of organizations within the Greater Cincinnati area that provide assistance. Why take it from reward money to find your missing child????

I just read where Ryan, director of Northern KY Youth Organization will be interviewed by channel 12, more than likely be aired at noon today concerning what went on yesterday. In addition to the reward money, six volunteers going to do a search in a wooded area in Wilder were ordered to go home by the sheriffs dept. Said there has to be a 24 hour notice prior to a search.
I do have one question that I hope someone can answer. IF Paige is found safe and had run away, at the age of 17, what are her options? Or is it mandatory she be returned to her mother?

If your blood pressure is rising right now, better take a double dose of medicine prior to the news at noon. Providing the interview is aired at that time.

It's Wednesday morning in Over-the-Rhine.

Bonnie Sartin goes from pole to pole. She pulls a small, notebook-sized poster out of a simple blue folder. She smoothes it flat, and places a piece of tape on each corner.

Okay, so I recorded all of the 12 News reports (ongoing) and on the Local 12 First @Four report they talked about there being a dispute over the money raised and that the police were called today. Then they said more at 6pm.

Nothing yet on the search team being sent away. I will update as I hear anymore stories.

Edit to say the video story was almost word for word of the print story. If I see a link to the video I will post it.
Anchor did add: NKYouth Foundation has boosted reward to $1500.00 and they will use the remaining $225.00 on printing flyers and assist in any searches for Paige.

What is wrong here? Priorities need reevaluation?

The search for a missing Northern Kentucky teenager has been temporarily side-tracked by a squabble over money. A fundraiser last week for Paige Johnson's family raised about 17-hundred dollars. But now, Johnson's family is angry with how the money has been split up.

Thanks NewsJunkie! I just now got home from work and was not able to check in to any of the news sites all day. Honestly I did not think the media would pick this up so quickly.

Poor Lisa, she was just trying to do something good and ends up being on the receiving end of controversy.

It still does not make sense to me why someone would not want that money to go toward finding Paige. Well, it is what it is, I suppose, and if these people are indeed being dishonest about setting up a trust fund or whatever, they are the ones that have to live with themselves, IMO. In the end what matters most is that Paige is found.

This is a good question cpatz! I would imagine that if she is a runaway there will be some sort of ramifications. By the time all that is sorted out she will likely no longer be a minor (not sure when her bday is?) We have juvenile court/detention in my county in Ohio and I would imagine it is the same in Kentucky. I'm not certain though and I hope someone can answer that for us.

HOPEFULLY there is someone who would take this poor girl under their wing, give her support and show her how to make her way through life as a productive adult. It seems up to this point she has not had a positive role model in her life, but it's not too late to turn this around if she is still with us.

Here is a link to a newer video than the one that went with the Fundraiser Flap story. (That video is on this link too -- hover mouse on top of screen to see it)

Comments show that there is outrage at the dispute over funds......

Wish something would break in this story before the families do.
