Despite pressure from police and the public, Josh Powell has remained tight-lipped about why he thinks his wife disappeared or how she might be found.
But this week the husband of Susan Cox Powell broke his silence to say his wife is “extremely unstable,” and that he believes mental illness drove her to leave her family behind.
Only reduced scrutiny from her family and the public, he said, will speed her return.
“She knows she will be chewed up like hamburger when she comes back,” Josh Powell said in a Wednesday interview here with The Salt Lake Tribune.
He complained his wife’s family have created an image of her that puts her under too much pressure.
“She can’t come back with them treating her this way,” Josh Powell said. “They want her to be perfect, a saint with no fallibility.”
FOUR more pages of interview, each page more unfreaking real than the next. He more or less calls Susan a crazy slut!

I stopped reading at the "She knows she will be chewed up like hamburger" because my it made my head start throbbing. UGH! What a choice of words...I swear, IMO, he must be a sociopath because he really doesn't seem to understand how to use the right words.

That agent, and others from the U.S. Marshals service, were there to retrieve a GPS tracking device secretly attached to Susan and Josh Powell’s Dodge Caravan. Two court orders, signed by a federal magistrate in Salt Lake City and reviewed by The Tribune, indicate the device was attached to the van in January.

I read it all - finally...I hope one day soon that all that stuff he said about Susan & her family comes back - with force - to bite him in the backside.
I also feel really sad for her sons....JP & his dad seem like they are cut from the same cloth...it's hard to imagine that the only thing they say to those little boys about their mother is that she's missing.
I've been around inlaws that talk about the ex-husband/wife of their offspring to the grandkids, and it was mean, vicious stuff....every weekend they had some new mean thing to say to the kids.
I feel bad for the Susan's family & friends...I'm sure they're all just reeling over this...must take all the goodness they can muster to not drive to Pullayup & mete out their own justice.
What a bunch of garbage from Josh after saying *nothing* for almost a year! :mad:

I'm wondering if this was not the first GPS they recovered. Remember when Josh came back to town in early February to get his house ready for rental? The police met him at Walgreens, where he'd parked his van, and towed it away. It was gone for three hours. Perhaps they had one on it already and were checking and/or replacing it with this other one which they retrieved in May.

What's SP sticking his :twocents: in for, anyway? How does he know about what Susan told her friends...and him yakking about the wet spot on the carpet really bugged me, too!...how the heck would *he* know what happened? Was he there?? I mean - really, was he there?
He seems to know sooooooooo much & the way he & Josh are sticking to some story, it sure makes me go 'hmmmmmmm'....I know that this was discussed early on - but now, it *really* doesn't seem too far-fetched.
Oh - another thing that really chapped my hide was Josh saying Susan ran out in the street to yell at him in her underwear. :furious:

A spokeswoman for Susan's family reacted to Josh's comments in an interview with KSL News Friday night.
"The notion that Susan would have left like that is absolutely preposterous. There's nobody who knows her who would think for a second that she would leave her children. She may have been unhappy in her marriage, and she may have been willing to leave Josh, but she wouldn't have left her children under any circumstance. If you know the first thing about her, you know that she was a mom first and foremost," Shelby Gifford said.
Gifford said the Cox family would be happy if Susan returned today under any circumstance, and she casts doubt on Josh's claims.
"The public is going to consider the source in this matter," Gifford said. "If Josh was really concerned about where Susan was, he would have looked for her, he would have interviewed with police, he would have done everything that he could have done to find her; and so far that's not happened."
The Tribune article quotes Josh as saying the Cox family needs to be treated as an investigative subject. Still, Josh remains the only one listed as a person of interest in his wife's disappearance.

Yes, it seems obvious that SP holds a great amount of resentment toward women. I wouldn't be surprised if him and JP talked about harming Susan before it happened, and if SP helped goad him into it. What an awful environment for the boys to be experiencing. I guess the good thing is that the more SP talks, the more he ensures that he won't have any chance at custody once JP is finally arrested.

And the idea that she was leaving her husband and boys for some sexy, rich man, but had to be sure to clean the carpets and set up the fans right before she abandoned them, well that is just ridiculous. Mud slingling is not what I think of when I hear someone stand up for a crime victim.
I hope JP and his dad saw the broadcast this morning. Even Ashley Banfield doesn't believe these two!
I personally would like JP to keep talking to the press. His dad too!
Have her parents applied for custody of the kids? It's obvious by this latest publicity stunt, those two children are NOT in a healthy environment. Who knows what these people are telling these young boys about their mom.
Oh, and is the brother that's determined mentally ill in the same home with these children? :eek:

Although I agree everything we have seen and heard from JP points to his guilt, her being a crime victim is still speculation since we have heard nothing from LE of there being actual criminal foul play involved. They should have had a tracker on his vehicle the day they searched it. It's frustrating; but I'd still like to know what exactly stirred this up for them to come out and comment. Wonder if the Cox's have started to do something about the boys? I think that would do it.
Also agree that the children shouldn't be with them......how controlling and spiteful not to let the Cox's see them. Seeing the grandchildren and having reporters asking if they have seen them is not talking about the children. Powell's are the ones using the children via their website and the using them for their own vindictive purposes. Cruel to the children to withhold the grandparent love and relationship. I'm sure no counselor would agree with them doing that.

OK EVER SINCE THIS CASE HIT THE NEWS I HAVE :banghead: BECAUSE THIS CASE HITS A PERSONAL NOTE. I WAS ONCE MARRIED TO A CONTROLLING , ABUSIVE HUSBAND. MY FATHER IN LAW AT THE TIME TOLD MY HUS. THAT YOU NEVER LET YOUR WIFE HAVE MONEY,HAVE ONLY YOUR NAME ON BANK CARDS ETC, AND THAT WOMEN DONT KNOW HOW TO 'HANDLE' MONEY. IN FACT AFTER WE HAD SEPARATED (MY 2 KIDS AND I LIVED IN OUR HOME AND MY EX MOVED IN WITH HIS PARENTS) ONE VALENTINES DAY (BEFORE MY HUS. ALWAYS BOUGHT ME LOBSTER FOR VALENTINES DAY) HE CAME OVER WHEN MYSELF AND MY YOUNGER SON HAD GONE GROCERY SHOPPING, AND MY OLDER SON WAS AT HOME ON THE COMPUTER. WHEN I RETURNED HOME THERE WAS A BAG ON THE COUNTER W/A LOBSTER IN IT. I ASKED MY SON WHERE IT CAME FROM AND HE SAID DAD WAS HERE. I FOUND THIS WEIRD BECAUSE WE WERE GETTING A DIVORCE AND NOT EXACTLY ON THE BEST OF TERMS. MY SON SAID MY HUSBAND CAME IN PUT THE BAG ON THE COUNTER AND IMMEDIATELY WENT DOWN CELLAR, WAS THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN LEFT QUICKLY. WELL I COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT, SO I WENT ON WITH PUTTING THE GROCERIES AWAY AND TOLD MY SON TO TAKE THE TIDE DOWN CELLAR TO THE WASHER. HE WENT DOWNSTAIRS AND STARTING YELLING FIRE! YES THE ELECTRICAL BOX WAS ON FIRE AND THE FIRE HAD GONE UP THE WALL AND WAS BURNING THE BATHROOM FLOOR ABOVE. LO AND BEHOLD MY EX WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND FOR HOURS AFTER THIS HAPPENED. WHEN I TRIED TO FIND IF HE WAS RESPONSIBLE I WAS MET WITH YOU CANT PROVE THAT NOW . SO I AM LEFT WITH THE FEELING THAT YES HE COULD HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE AND MY GUT TELLS ME SO. POI should not rest. It was good to watch the GMA clip, where Susan's dad says they are in contact with LE on a weekly basis and are told the case is progressing. I have no reason to doubt this.

OK EVER SINCE THIS CASE HIT THE NEWS I HAVE :banghead: BECAUSE THIS CASE HITS A PERSONAL NOTE. I WAS ONCE MARRIED TO A CONTROLLING , ABUSIVE HUSBAND. MY FATHER IN LAW AT THE TIME TOLD MY HUS. THAT YOU NEVER LET YOUR WIFE HAVE MONEY,HAVE ONLY YOUR NAME ON BANK CARDS ETC, AND THAT WOMEN DONT KNOW HOW TO 'HANDLE' MONEY. IN FACT AFTER WE HAD SEPARATED (MY 2 KIDS AND I LIVED IN OUR HOME AND MY EX MOVED IN WITH HIS PARENTS) ONE VALENTINES DAY (BEFORE MY HUS. ALWAYS BOUGHT ME LOBSTER FOR VALENTINES DAY) HE CAME OVER WHEN MYSELF AND MY YOUNGER SON HAD GONE GROCERY SHOPPING, AND MY OLDER SON WAS AT HOME ON THE COMPUTER. WHEN I RETURNED HOME THERE WAS A BAG ON THE COUNTER W/A LOBSTER IN IT. I ASKED MY SON WHERE IT CAME FROM AND HE SAID DAD WAS HERE. I FOUND THIS WEIRD BECAUSE WE WERE GETTING A DIVORCE AND NOT EXACTLY ON THE BEST OF TERMS. MY SON SAID MY HUSBAND CAME IN PUT THE BAG ON THE COUNTER AND IMMEDIATELY WENT DOWN CELLAR, WAS THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN LEFT QUICKLY. WELL I COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT, SO I WENT ON WITH PUTTING THE GROCERIES AWAY AND TOLD MY SON TO TAKE THE TIDE DOWN CELLAR TO THE WASHER. HE WENT DOWNSTAIRS AND STARTING YELLING FIRE! YES THE ELECTRICAL BOX WAS ON FIRE AND THE FIRE HAD GONE UP THE WALL AND WAS BURNING THE BATHROOM FLOOR ABOVE. LO AND BEHOLD MY EX WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND FOR HOURS AFTER THIS HAPPENED. Does Utah still have the Firing Squad? Everyone and their Dog knows this man killed his wife. It really is a no brainer.
We do not. It is lethal injection only I believe. Hopefully the other prisoners take care of him before that happens.

The reason Josh P. is not in jail is because it takes time to make a case against anyone especially when you dont have a body. I have faith that LE will one day be at JP"S door with a warrant for his arrest . I cant wait to see his face on the perp walk ya know all sad. LOL:dance:

Josh has become over-confident since there have been no developments and he has not been charged. The risk is though that this backfires because it is outrageous and is bringing the focus right back on him and makes LE want to go after him.
How does he explain the crazy alibi of taking the kids camping late at night on a freezing cold period even hardy campers aborted their plans and ... with a 'work day' the next morning?
GMAB. You are not fooling anyone Josh ... maybe your conscience or desire for another 15 minutes of fame got in the way of either keeping quiet and/or being respectful to your Wife.

In Utah? Yes we do. Someone was just executed last June by firing squad.
