Police in two states are searching for a missing Mercyhurst College student. The 20-year-old junior left the school in Erie last Thursday to drive home, only to vanish several hours later.
New York State Police say Jenni-Lyn Watson came home from college for Thanksgiving. She was home visiting her family when she disappeared Friday morning.

Town of Clay (WSYR-TV) - Sheriff's investigators are attempting find the driver of a pickup truck seen near the Watson home the day 20-year-old Jenni-Lyn Watson disappeared. A tip about the pickup truck was phoned in to the Sheriff's Department tip line, leading to Undersheriff Warren Darby calling it, "a vehicle of interest."
They're looking for a dark-colored pick-up truck that was reported to have been near Donegal Way on November 19 between 7:00am and 3:00pm. Onondaga County Sheriff's Detectives are hoping the driver of the vehicle could have information that could help them in their investigation.
Anyone with information on the truck or its driver should call the Sheriff's Office at (315) 435-3081.

The search for Jenni-Lyn Watson has been suspended for the night, but crews will be out again on Thanksgiving Day.
Undersheriff Warren Darby says the search effort will be smaller because of the holiday, but it will still be going on. Darby says his department has been getting lots of tips from the public. He says there have been so many callers that some people are getting busy signals. Darby says if you know something, don't let that deter you. Either call back, or leave a voicemail.

Jenni-Lyn Watson, a Mercyhurst College student, has not been seen since Friday morning.
Watson, a native of Liverpool, N.Y., was last seen at her home early in the morning on Friday, according to a report from WSYR-TV of Syracuse, N.Y.
She is a junior dance major at Mercyhurst standing approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 100 pounds. Watson has blonde hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black North Face jacket and black pants.

Through interviews with friends and family members, deputies now believe they may know what Jenni-Lyn was wearing on Friday - the last day she was seen. Deputies believe she was last seen and could possibly still be wearing a tan sweatshirt, a pair of blue, green, and white colored pajama pants with white socks.

In the day after Thanksgiving, the search for Jenni-Lyn Watson continues.
Onondaga County Sheriff's say detectives are finishing up the areas already searched and are expanding their search to east of Henry Clay Boulevard. Detectives have also setup a road-side canvass in the area of Donegal Way in an effort to gather any additional information from commuters.
More than 100 local law enforcement personnel are now searching for Watson.

More than 100 people searched new areas for any evidence of missing Liverpool woman Jenni-Lyn Watson Friday.
Onondaga County Undersheriff Warren Darby says the number of people on the search team has tripled. Right now, the crews are made up of all law enforcement personnel and professional search and rescue teams. Investigators were considering asking for civilian help this weekend, but decided not to after the professional teams agreed to continue searching through the weekend.
Darby did ask people who own property in Clay to check any buildings like sheds or garages. He said people should be on the look out for anything unusual.

21-year-old Steven Pieper has pleaded not guilty in Clay Town Court to charges of second degree murder, in connection with the death of 20-year-old Jenni-Lyn Watson.
The Liverpool man, and ex-boyfriend of Watson, was arraigned just after 7:30 Saturday evening in front of Clay Town Justice Brian Lauri. Pieper did not have anything to say, but did answer routine questions from the judge.
Judge Lauri also read the court document to Pieper, which says that he intentionally caused the death of Jenni-Lyn Watson by a manner that has yet to be determined. It goes on to say that Pieper removed Watson's body from the family's home along Donegal Way in Clay and then transported and dumped her remains in the Clay Central Park.
Pieper, dressed in a track suit, showed no remorse during the court proceedings.

The Onondaga County District Attorney has confirmed that several elements led to the Sheriff's Department focusing on Jenni-Lyn Watson's ex-boyfriend in the investigation into her disappearance.
District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick says that a cell phone belonging to Steven Pieper was found at the Watson home the same day the missing girl disappeared. They believe he used Watson's cell phone to generate an alibi by texting friends.
Investigators believe that after Pieper allegedly killed Watson, he backed his car up into the family's garage and placed her body in the trunk before hiding it in Clay Central Park.

According to the YWCA Mohawk Valley, the recent murder of 20-year-old college student Jenni-Lyn Watson, of Clay, at the hands of ex-boyfriend Steven Pieper has brought the issue of dating violence into the spotlight.
“Her friends have described her ex-boyfriend as being obsessed with her,” said Gabrielle Danovitz, a community educator for the YWCA Mohawk Valley’s violence prevention program. “They say he wasn’t physically abusive but was controlling, jealous and would text and call her constantly when they weren’t together.”
For those familiar with dating violence, Danovitz said, these behaviors are red flags.

Syracuse musicians will step up in a big way Sunday in the memory of a dancer.
Fourteen bands and acoustic acts will perform at Sharkey’s Eclectic Sports Lounge in Liverpool on Sunday to raise money for the Jenni-Lyn Watson dance scholarship fund.

Jenni-Lyn Watson had a passion for ballet and her family wants to make sure other dancers’ dreams can come true, her father David Watson said.
Two events this week will raise money for dance scholarships in memory of Jenni-Lyn Watson.
“These scholarships will honor Jenni-Lyn by providing the means for the dancer with the same passion that Jenni-Lyn has for dance to be able to continue their pursuit,” her father said.

The Liverpool man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend has been indicted by a grand jury. Steven Pieper is charged with second degree murder in the death of Jenni-Lyn Watson.
Pieper will be arraigned in Onondaga County Court before Judge Anthony Aloi at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. That's according to a news release sent to CNY Central from the Onondaga County District Attorney's office.
The DA's Office also says that they know how Watson was killed. The indictment against Pieper says Watson was strangled on November 19, 2010, about a week before her body was found.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick told CNN that although investigators were unable to recover Watson's cell phone, they were able to review calls and text messages made by the 20-year-old victim, as well as by Pieper.
While reviewing text messages sent from Watson's cell phone, investigators say they came across the shorthand "GTG" or "got to go" which is an acronym not typically used by the victim, but frequently used by Pieper.

It was a celebration of Jenni-Lyn Watson's life. Thursday would have been her 21st birthday and friends held a celebration in her honor.
"It's special because she couldn't even survive for her 21st birthday and this way, at least she gets a celebration. Most kids look forward to their 21st birthday and going out. At least this way, she gets a celebration in her honor," said Samantha Lawrence, a classmate of Jenni-Lyn.
Kimberly Foody, a friend of the "Jenni-Lyn Watson Team," added, "I didn't know Jenni-Lyn myself, personally, but she's touched my soul. She's touched my life. And she will always be a part of my life."

Steven Pieper, the man who admitted to killing 20-year-old Jenni-Lyn Watson last November, was formally sentenced in Onondaga County Court this morning to 23 years to life in prison.
Watson's parents and sister spoke in court prior to Judge Anthony Aloi issuing his sentence. Watson's mother called Pieper "the scariest of killers," while her father talked about the intense pain the family has suffered.
Pieper also spoke. He told the court that he accepts responsibility for his actions and apologized to the Watson family.

Standing before a judge, a family at the center of a tragedy finally speaks out.

With Steven Pieper standing just feet away, looking down, never in their direction, Jenni-Lyn Watson's family was telling a judge Pieper must pay for the co-ed's killing.

"I was brought into the case the day after she was reported missing," said Onondaga County Sheriff's Detective Keith Hall.
Hall has worked for a decade as a detective for the Onondaga County Sheriff's department. He was on call the weekend in November when Jenni-Lyn Watson was reported missing.
"Her purse was still at the residence. Her shoes were still at the residence. That just was not a normal thing," Hall said.
Investigators were told about a former boyfriend who had visited Jenni Lyn the morning of her disappearance: Steven Pieper.

Murder victim's father joins ride in honor of his daughter, Jenni-Lyn Watson
David Watson watched last year as about 150 riders from the Syracuse Ride for Missing Children made their way past the Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, in Clay, to honor the memory of his daughter, Jenni-Lyn Watson.
"It was very powerful," Watson said. "We got that sense that they were there with us and for us."
Jenni-Lyn Watson, a 2008 Liverpool High School graduate, was murdered by her former boyfriend in 2010, while she was home from college for Thanksgiving break. Her body was found eight days after the 20-year-old went missing.
