Should a rose garden replace Kiesha Abraham's toy memorial? (http://mt-druitt-standard.whereilive.com.au/news/story/should-a-rose-garden-replace-kiesha-abrahams-toy-memorialr/)
A SEA of colourful toys, candles and flowers once covered the front of missing Mt Druitt girl Kiesha Abrahams’ home on Woodstock Ave.
But, eight months since her disappearance, most of the tributes have been cleared and the remaining items are only a fragment of the grand community shrine that once existed.
Ahead of Kiesha’s seventh birthday on April 22, some residents want to install a living memorial in the form of a flower garden in place of weathering teddy bears and letters.

Magistrate appeals for calm in community as trial date set for Kiesha's mother
A WESTERN Sydney magistrate has called on the community to restrain its anger over the death of six-year-old Kiesha Weippeart so the girl's mother can be fairly tried for murder.

Kristi Anne Abrahams, 29, and her 33-year-old partner Robert Smith are accused of killing the girl on or about July 13, 2010, in their home at Mount Druitt.

It is alleged the pair killed the child, buried her in bushland in nearby Shalvey and, two weeks later, called police to declare her missing.

Charges were laid after human remains were discovered in bushland in April last year - on what would have been Kiesha's seventh birthday.

A PLACE where six-year-old Kiesha Weippeart often played will become a community memorial, to remember the much-loved youngster.

Her aunty Flora Tiitii, 31, said Kiesha often played in Elizabeth Jonsson Reserve at Mt Druitt, and her bedroom window faced the park. The community has been invited to the park this Sunday from 10am, to mark what would have been her ninth birthday and celebrate the new memorial.

The man who stood by and watched as his six-year-old stepdaughter, Kiesha Weippeart, died from violent injuries, and then burned and buried her body, has been sentenced to at least 12 years in jail.

Fruity I will want to bow out because... I now just post links.

Why did a government department hand over KWs care to foster care? The dad made the first report but why wasn't ANY family member given custody then? Grandma is organising tshirts and the grandfather said that he would take KW.

Info for foster carers below.

Foster care is provided to children and young people who are unable to live with their own families.

http://www.community.nsw.gov.au/welcome_to_docs_website.html

Whether you have been in care for a short or long period of time, whether you have been placed with a relative, a foster carer or in residential care or independent living — you would have strong feelings and opinions about decisions which affect your life.
http://www.community.nsw.gov.au/docs_menu/parents_carers_and_families/for_young_people/are_you_in_care.html

That last link is for kids in care ala KA.

Why did KW get put in foster care and then taken out of it when apparently the grandma was more than happy to help?

By the way I was shocked to find out group homes still exist for Aboriginal kids.
