JB will prolong this just like he did in the states case to get the answer he wants then the state recrosses this could go on until Monday.

Wow- I had to go out today and just tuned in for the afternoon session- I can't believe this witness is still on! I suppose I didn't miss anything interesting, right? Things sound tense b/n the atty's and JP.

You didn't miss much in the DT questioning, but you GOTTA watch Jeff A. mop the floor with this guy on cross. Must see TV!

JB can try and rehabilitate this witness as much as he wants to to,but I don't think it will work-I think he should just call it a day!

But he won't. He never does.

BTW. The State would NEVER be allowed to have an expert stray so far afield from their expertise.

If I was the court reporter I would be madder that seven hells having to carry the typewriter thingy over to the bench 73 million times a day!

I think they should just have two court reporters. One for court and one for sidebars. Just park one over there on the sidebars... have the other court reporter note SIDEBAR in her transcript and then combine them later. That'd cut an extra couple minutes off the time it takes her to get settled at the sidebar and back at the stand.

That's it. To me if he thinks the trunk liner stain doesn't LOOK like decomp fluid staining, then Jeff Ashton should be able to open the can containing the stained trunk liner, since the witness claims to be an expert at smelling and differentiating it.

Let the super entomologist who wears so many different hats smell it.

Katprint
06-17-2011, 04:34 PM
OKay this guy just p****d me off by trying to be snarky. This particular defense entomologist creeps me out in a way that the other "we work with dead people" professionals didn't, even the ones who testified for the defense yesterday. A large part of the creepiness is his choice of examples - like suggesting he would prefer to march a live person out and murder them at the experiment scene in order to replicate the circumstances in this case, prior to eventually explainingthat donated human cadavers have already passed the moments-after-death decomp period thus they could not be used to study that period, whereas pigs could be slaughtered and their moments-after-death decomp period could be studied - which are unnecessarily offensive. IMO experts are most effective when the jury LIKES them. This guy isn't really very likeable IMO.

I think if I were riding alone in an elevator and he got in, I would get out. And I have a pretty thick skin in this regard - I have contact with accused killers, robbers, rapists, etc. on a regular basis. But this guy = creepy.

Is it just me..or is JB trying to get from this witness that his test even tho not even close to circumstances, of Caylee's that he can ASSUME the his results precludes the results of his mentor and Dr. Vass who has over 2 decades deealing with human bodies and decomp??..

I am sorry..Thats not even close to putting any dint in the States findings and results IMO...:banghead: I do hope that JB never represents another client in any courtroom again..I really do question alot about his abilities and ethics.. but in the end..Who else believes he will go on to write books and become a TH (paid) on Talk Shows????..never again for any Judge have to tutor him on how to ask questions and many other items..

Four people riding in a car several days after a body had been in the trunk of the car???? It sounds like JB is inferring that Casey drove her friends in the car AFTER Caylee's body had been in the trunk. But it was established by the testimony of Maria Kiesh that the four people rode in Casey's car on June 4th - long before Caylee died.

I've been watching this trial from Day 1, every day, all day while I work.

I actually think the SA is in trouble. Baez comes across to the jury as very "layman", unfancy, jokey, and dare I say it... likeable. The SA had excellent testimony and witnesses, but everything was very, very dry. The DT's so far have been more chatty, breaking-it-down-for-the-layman, and approachable. The jury is going to be exhausted by dry facts, they will appreciate a bit of chattiness.

Also, God love him, JA is going to come across as a hard-a$$, and unlikeable for jumping on Baez like a pitbull constantly and with such furor. He's doing a great job, but he's *got* to do it in a way with what is percieved as a slightly softer touch.

Justice for Caylee.

Hopefully the jury will see a team who is trying to find justice for Caylee Marie Anthony and not give a darn about JB's likeability.

I personally think JA is a little much with the emotional aspect sometimes, but he's been very successful doing this for a very long time so I'm hoping he knows what he's doing. While I personally wish JA would tune it down (so that he doesn't come across as a bully), I also wonder if both the way he treats JB and the way he is treating this witness is an attempt to show the jury that he has no respect for them. At the end of the day, we won't know how the jury takes JB's smirking and/or JA's emotion until we hear the final verdict.

There is a very successful prosecutor here in Atlanta, Sheila Ross, who has a similar style as JA and she also has been very successful...so you really just never know how it's going to come out in the wash...

Based on your experience or study can you look @ this stain and see if this stain came from a human decompostion...no it doesn't look lik the numerous homicide and suicide and natural causes scenes...is this photo good example of decomp fluid would look like on a carpet...this photo look like decomp....

given smell of decomp body would be in trunk of car for 1 to several days...someone ran out of gas...day or 2 after body removed...would someone be able to smell human decomp (object sustain based upon hypothetica)

would 4 people be able to ride around in a car the smell object -sustain

given - Jb asks for a moment -----Cm consulting w/JB

You never rendered opinion chew tobacco smells same as decompose body....no....trash dried is same smell as decomp -= no...any insinuation of such would you consider mislead? commentary of counsel!

RECROSS

Dr. H what was condition of garbage when it was in the trunk? based on evidence ...he has no knowledge of that ...doesn't know if wet or dry...nothing added to bag from time in trunk and time obtained by LE - NO FOOD in bag...object overrule...something wet non-food items don't all the sudden become food...unless dehydrated food...no food...wet or dry still not food..

adipocere- appearance of stain of decomp....not a forensic anthropologist got your PhD in 2008 yes....Masters in 2005 3 yrs before that.....study adipocere or decomp stains for bachelors degree? witness process of adipocere but did not study it....this experience comes come from your work from the last 3 years since PhD...no well before that...began before...began working in Hancock County as an assistance in highschool worked for a mortuary studied as .....ever in your experience as identity of a stain...first time ever asked to look @ a photograph to determine it is adipocere or human decomp.....first time ever in court of law you asked to identify from photo to identify human decomp....either way...when JB asked the question he didn't qualify about human decomp he asked bout stain...either way yes this is the first time whether human or other......no qualification exists to knowledge.....

every opinion related to this case in your report (object- beyhond the scope - impeachment Judge - overrule)....asked again...that report doesn't contain any opinion about identifying a stain by it's appearance object overrule - it is not in that report!

acknowledge on redirect photo was not intended to be a recreation of events in the case...presented to jury...didn't tell them it is not a representation what happened in this case...no but I also didn't tell them it was a representation...

JB - you are the youngest board certified entomologist (object) forensic correct....PhD certified thru the Am. Boad of Forensic Entomology certified before PhD...worked many death investigations....how many ...how much experience ...in the field consuted on approx. 75 death investigations in forensic entomology....

even though didn't put it in your report still render that opinion to this jury?

when you work as forensic entomologist work with photos....many cases come strictly as photos as no examples .....very common way for insect evidence and decomp stages of the body....vary in any way the photos you saw for this report....would expect any forensic entomologist would have the same answer....

JA I thought you said you never been asked to look @ a stain ...never in a court law....outside court of law it is something done all the time....discussed your opinion back in 2008 didn't you? why didn't you put it in your report? object -overrule....discuss with counsel didn't put in report? specifically discuss insects recover from trunk....it wasn't from medical, legal, nature ...weren't you instructed that every opinion in this case must be included in your report.......those boards....
