LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas jury acquitted former lovers Sandra Murphy and Richard Tabish of all murder charges Tuesday in the death of casino mogul Ted Binion.

Murphy, 32, and Tabish, 39, were cleared of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and robbery, but found guilty of three other counts — conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, and grand larceny — for their 1998 plot to steal Binion's millions in silver and cash.

Murphy, dressed in jeans and a gray T-shirt, wept and hugged her attorneys when the verdict was read. Moments earlier, she was seen holding her head over a garbage can next to the defense table.

The pair face up to 16 years in prison when sentenced Jan. 28.

The seven-man, five-woman panel deliberated for about 19 hours before the verdict was read Tuesday at noon to a packed courtroom.

The first trial was really something.
Heroin, gambling, affairs, buried treasure, murder!

16 years possible...they will get credit for whatever they have served so far I guess :waitasec:

Well, there are two people who just got away with murder. I just hope that she doesn't have any rights to his estate.

...i watched that trial from start to finish. it was so interesting. i am suprised they won this. thanks for the update!

Utterly amazing... The verdict spread like wild fire over the casino floor...

I wouldn't give :twocents: for either of their lives...

I watched the verdict on CTV...she was a wreck!!!! what a difference between her and Scottie!!

Well, there are two people who just got away with murder. I just hope that she doesn't have any rights to his estate.
She does have rights to the tune of 1.6 million dollars. HOWEVER there is a lawsuit by his family in civil court and chances are good that they'll get the money!!!! I HOPE.

I have always thought that Binion accidently killed himself. I don't think that Sandy Murphy would have killed him, regardless of the fact that she was having an affair with Rick Tabish. I think that Sandy put up with a lot of abuse from Ted Binion, and probably wanted to feel "normal" and that may be the reason she had the affair with Tabish. This is just my opinion, I'll go hide in the corner now.
