Okay everybody - LISTEN UP! We are not bashing, accusing or blaming Tori's family here. It won't be allowed.
Children walk home from school every day without incident. Parents are not perfect, it's just not possible. Tori's parents DID NOT do this to her. TLM and an accomplice DID. That is where the blame goes.
We had a lot of family bashing in the early parts of this investigation after Tori went missing and a lot of baseless accusations - NONE OF WHICH PROVED TO BE TRUE. Victim and family bashing will not be allowed during this trial.

my favorite picture of Tori! Thanks for posting. Her eyes just sparkle, and her scarf looks so fun and whimsical. A child with so much promise. It is hard to fathom how someone could harm her; that evil such as that exists in the world. MOO

Good morning! This is my very first post here, although I've been reading for the past few days. I too have been following this case since Tori went missing. While I don't live in the Woodstock area, I do live in the same city as Kristen French was from. Fortunately, Tori's case has been widely publicized here as well. Members of our community are following closely & praying Tori receives Justice.
I am a mother. I am a mother to one daughter who was born in July of 2000 as well. I believe EVERY school-aged child has the right to walk to & from school without fear. I believe Tori was abducted by people she did NOT know (even IF she met TLM in passing at some point, I believe she was still a stranger to her). I believe she was taken for the purpose to be brutally raped. I believe evidence shows TWO people were involved in this crime. My interpretation of the facts & evidence shows MR & TLM were both into this up to their eyeballs.
From my little time spent here reading, Otto, I believe 100% in statements you have made. The black & white of this case involve a missing child, a 28 year old man & a body of a mostly nude 8 year old child. I cannot even fathom what today will bring in court.
I guess I've read enough to include these are MOO.

Thank you for sharing your views with us. We will all be watching what the defence does from here. Whatever the outcome...it's Tori in our minds, first and foremost.
I agree with you that every child should be able to safely walk to school and walk around their community. The community should take care of each and every child.

How does this work, is there a warning, or does defense just announce when jury is brought in...this is the next witness to be called.
I pray that all those who are directly affected by this trial and of good heart, are ok today, have support after the trial and life is kind to them in the future...those from each of the families. I also hope that justice is delivered with a thud to those involved of evil intent who destroyed this innocent child. God Bless TS and her family. MOO

Agreed! I'm open to hearing from the defense, but to date, the evidence supports the charges, IMO. Thus far, there appears to be no rational explanation for MR's presence in that car with that child on that day, other than that he was involved in her kidnapping, IMO. Hence, I believe that knowing which of the two actually wielded the hammer is not necessary to find him guilty of murder. And Tori's naked lower body and that spot of blood mixed with semen, in addition to how well the evidence supports the general gist of TLM's account of the events, convince me beyond a reasonable doubt that he is also guilty of rape. To me, it does not matter if TLM or MR knew TS - or which of TLM or MR was the 'mastermind' - or if it was pre-planned or opportunistic - I don't so much care why it happened, I care that it happened. I believe that there were two people who crossed the line that day into some kind of evil madness and that the life of an innocent 8 year old child, stolen away from her home, her family and safety, was ended by their combined actions - even if the 'actions' of one was simply to walk away and turn a blind eye.
MR's lawyer will need to introduce some evidence which has not even been hinted at thus far to convince me otherwise.

Well if MR does decide to get up on the stand today, I'd like to know why he spent 3 years in jail for something "he didn't do". I'd call that very bad legal representation.
And of course I don't believe for a minute that he had bad legal representation so what does that say? He waited until he knew what evidence LE had against him before formulating whatever story we're going to hear today.
Nothing else makes sense to me.

I wasn't referring to his appearance on the stand as representing him being innocent, quite the contrary. It would actually show his extreme narcissism in my opinion. Maybe actually believes he can BS his way out of this with a majority female jury. I just wanted to put in my two cents of what I want the Crown to ask him. LOL

thank you for the link, it was very interesting. I agree with the lawyer 100%. I do believe some of the evidence is he said/ she said and that it comes down at least to me the forensics as we stand right now( before defence side) .
MR needs to take the stand in my eyes, he needs to be able to look those jurors in the eyes and explain the days leading up to Tori's abduction, her murder and the days following.
His side of the story is very much needed, up to now, we have not heard his side. If he doesn't take the stand his credibility is now going to be based on his ex's and tlm version. Him not defending himself in a case like this would speak volumes.

If I were innocent, I would have told whatever story we're going to hear from either the defendent or his attorney 3 years ago. And I would have told it to LE so that they could get the evidence to prove my innocence. The fact that he didn't and has sat in jail for 3 years instead pretty much sums up for me how much of this story is going to be truthful.

I have to go to the LFpress this week and was going to go today and swing by the court house to see how packed they were but decided against because I had a feeling it would be busy. I think i will wait till tomorrow to go especially since i want to know as soon as possible which way the defence was going with their case and if MR would take the stand.

I also believe i would take the stand in my own defence if I ever was brought to trial for anything. But then again, I would also want to take the advice of my lawyer who has been probably doing trials much longer then I and knows what would be in my best interests, so i could see someone not taking the stand when they are innocent. Its a hard call for anyone guilty or not, it can backfire against even the innocent and that would fear anyone.
I can also see someone protecting themselves (even though they are digging them selves into a bigger hole) by denying a crime they had committed or been involved in when questioned by the police.
I have personally only heard one side of this case and have left my verdict for the end of the case once the defence has told me their side. But if we were deciding the case on what we have heard up to this point, I would say there is a very good chance he will be found guilty. But the defence can turn this case on its head and we just dont know it yet.

Good morning everyone, I am already a little teary eyed. I wish that VS's family did not have to be subjected to this trial. I can not imagine how they will feel if he does take the stand today and try and charm the jury (he is a snake charmer except he is the snake too!). I still feel he will not take the stand. I believe if he does it may allow for the crown to bring up stuff that they were not allowed to before as it would besmirch his character.

Well the only side that I am listening to is Victoria's version. The evidence of her broken little half naked body found under a pile of rocks and her blood, mixed with sperm found on the frame of his car, right beside the missing seat where he assaulted her, transferred to the moulding when the door was closed is telling her story for her.

I don't think she can "prove" anything, really. She may say what she remembers. I've seen way too much research on the unreliability of eye-witness testimony to place much faith in this kind of recollection.

Also here in Sudbury all schools are locked and you have to bee buzzed in. Their is also cameras at all enterances. I would assume it is the same down south? So why would their not be video of her in the school???
