Forgive me if similar thoughts have already been shared (I'm still catching up from page 25), but I'm trying to envision Rodney's next steps, regardless of the verdict.

Rodney has evolved into a Canadian cross-border twin of Marc Klaas through the tragedy of losing his beloved little daughter, Tori.

The man never wallowed in despair publicly. Instead, he pedaled his hiney off to raise awareness for missing children across the country. Rodney epitomizes the definition of 'change agent'. He got up, got busy, and got himself and others moving to turn a tragedy into an education for many.

I can't imagine that much of this 'new' news about MR's behavior was news to RS, so I have to give Tori's Dad extra kudos - once again - for respecting the system and the process by not alluding to it in any way before the jury got instructions, no matter how frustrated he must have been when the computer evidence was ruled out. I know with certainty that I wouldn't have done nearly so well.

Rodney has once again put the best interests of victims, families, and justice ahead of his own emotions. In this instance, he did so by holding his tongue until the jury was sequestered. I can't speak for anyone else, but I believe that has been one of the toughest tasks that Rodney has taken on. I know I would have wanted to share, SCREAM, and pummel and the jury with these relevant details, but Rodney is a far smarter and better person than I; he knew that would be interpreted as 'working against' the very same justice system he is relying upon right now.

It's hard enough for many of us to temper our own words in posts here. WTH has it been like for Rodney to have potentially known this for many months, then to have all of this out in the public domain - AFTER - the jury has been excluded from that knowledge? His interview about the excluded evidence was poignant and shared articulately in a way that only a victim could express so well.

After witnessing Rodney's strength in undertaking his (emotionally and physically) painful bike journey to raise awareness, I won't be shocked if Rodney now digs in to raise awareness about how Canadian evidence/search warrant laws are changing, and the impact that has with current trials. Doesn't really matter which way the verdict goes - Rodney has a singularly unique perspective (unfortunately) to share in regards to what jurors should be made aware of - and shielded from.

Bad enough that the families suffer so deeply and have to relive it all, but then they have to bear up while Judges worry more about establishing new case law than they do about ensuring that justice is not blind by adhering to laws 'on the books' at the time of the crime and investigation. If Rodney challenges this and takes it up as a new/additional cause, I won't be at all shocked.

Most politicians annoy the caca out of me, but if Rodney takes to lobbying for a review of evidentiary rules, or runs for office on a victim's rights platform, he's got my vote.

Rafferty, formal sentencing on Tuesday, even though 1rst degree murder carries life no chance of parole 25 years. but other charges.

Rafferty found guilty http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/article/1177482--tori-stafford-trial-michael-rafferty-guilty-of-killing-tori-stafford?bn=1

On CityNews Channel, lawyer Calvin Barry says jury can have problem when accused doesn't take the stand. #Rafferty didn't take stand.

It is so telling that #Rafferty showed no emotion during the trial of the little kid he killed, but teared up when learning his own fate.

Rafferty's lawyer Dirk Derstine would not comment on the possibility of an appeal.

Guilty!!! sentencing to happen Tuesday at 10am #Rafferty

Thank you to each and every journalist that covered #Rafferty and #ToriStafford trial, it has not been easy for any of you, great job!

Michael #Rafferty gets an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years. The stiffest in this country

<modsnip> :( Just wanted to say that I have discovered something about myself. I am very naive and trusting and have not been exposed to the seedier side of life, therefore, have a difficult time seeing evil in others. I truly wanted to believe that there was no rape because I couldn't bear to think of a little girl, the same age as my nieces being tortured in that way. It was the lack of motive for me, I had posted that if there were any indication of MR being interested in child porn, etc then I would have no problem finding him GUILTY but I just couldn't get there with what we knew. After the jury was sequestered and the info about MR released, I cried. I got it wrong. I could not imagine such debauchery, evilness, depravity, cruelty..... I was so nervous that the jury would come back with something less than 1st deg because of the withheld info, but they got it right. It is difficult to follow a trial via tweets, I think a lot is lost. I followed this case because it happened in my backyard (figuratively) and it truly touched/penetrated my heart. I am so glad that justice prevailed.

Christie Blatchford: Journey to Michael Rafferty guilty verdict went through a sewer of evidence

The verdicts came Friday night after about nine hours of deliberation.
As the jury foreman, one of only three men on the jury, stood and said “Guilty” for the first of three times, the 31-year-old Rafferty closed his eyes.
He remained standing even after the foreman finished, taking his seat only after his lawyer motioned to him.
It was his only visible reaction, in stark contrast to the murmurs of relief and tears in the courtroom.
The little girl’s mother, Tara McDonald, sobbed uncontrollably while a large group of her paternal relatives, and father Rodney Stafford, held hands.
It was the final chapter of the story that could be called The Dog That Wasn’t There.

Queue the 'Dueling Banjos/Highway to Hell' remix. Just for MR.

Question I read he will get a minimum of 25yrs, what does that mean? I thought that it didnt matter how many counts as it will only be 25yrs with no chance of parole? Well at least these three are on his records and he isnt getting out of jail after 25yrs those family members and all of us will be waiting at that hearing shouting out for justice and hopefully this sick SOB never gets out. We can only hope he tries to hang himself, but I doubt it as he thinks too much of himself

Woodstock Police Chief live on AM980:

Woodstock police in frantic days immediately after reported missing...off duty staff, fire crews, civilian staff, everyone wanted to be involved in looking for Tori.

Police service took unfair criticism. Much was happening behind the scenes, strategies that couldn't be discussed as it would defeat the effectiveness of those strategies.

Won't discuss the problem with the search warrant. In the 30 day appeal window.

Thanks the media during the investigation. Had problems with the media in early stages, but it was through them that they got out the information that solved the case.

No chance of parole until the sentence is up. Trust me he will never get it. Especially now that there are 3 convictions. They may even apply for Dangerous Offender just to cement the deal.

But the jury probably did notice his attire on one of the trial’s most unpleasant days, when pathologist Michael Pollanen detailed the frightful wounds inflicted on Tori, who was kidnapped, raped and beaten to death with a hammer. To the distress of Tori's relatives, seated at the front of the public gallery, Mr. Rafferty sported a crisp new purple shirt – Tori's favourite colou, and the family emblem.
As the awful autopsy images were flashed on to the screen – Tori’s skull was cracked, 16 of her 24 ribs were broken by being stomped upon, and her liver was lacerated – he looked bored, and at one point yawned.

Back from a T/O :( Just wanted to say that I have discovered something about myself.

Justice for Tori

By RANDY RICHMOND, The London Free Press
Last Updated: May 11, 2012 11:41pm

I wanted to scream, scream something in the courtroom," Tori's father, Rodney Stafford, said.

"Happy, excitement. But at that same time there's a sense of loss," Stafford said, his voice breaking, "'cause Tori's not coming home. But we got it. We got the justice."

Stafford waved a photograph of Tori, her school photo taken the day before she disappeared.

"It was all for this little girl right here."

That bracelet is beautiful, see Tara smile like that and hearing Rodney's voice break as he spoke brought me to tears. I am so so happy for all of them and DS, their impact statements are going to be so emotional, I bet rafferty will be yawning or rolling his eyes, sick B...... he is.

Wow I got all that out without swearing (almost)

In March 2006, Rafferty also used his MySpace account to send multiple emails indicating that he wanted to marry an Asian woman. He wrote: “Hey, I’m Mike from Canada, I’m looking for a girl who really wants to move to Canada but needs to get married to do so ... I have a good job and a place of my own ... I am willing to marry someone just so they can move here and obtain a green card

I listened to part of her testimony for the first time today ... it sounds like it was an extremely violent attack that ended with a garbage bag being placed over Victoria's head shortly before she was tossed onto the ground outside the car. MR then proceeded to stomp and kick her.

Where did you listen to it at?
i don't know if I want to hear it. at least not tonight, but I am interested to know.

all three salem! That will more than likely classify him as a dangerous offender and he will never be free to walk free again. Thank god! Justice is served. Tori made sure of that and now she can rest in peace.

Had a very serious emergency crop up right as the verdict was coming in. Won't go into detail about me, but I had to forego all the celebration of justice for Tori. I did manage to catch a snippet of Rodney talking with the press. I'll read up and mentally have a glass of bubbly with y'all :)

What a day it's been, but we got the answer we needed to hear !!

Hugs to all from sb

I know a few who would gladly watch....

It wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that those slow-pokes who jumped in line behind me are pushy.

*grumble* *grumble* I did call 'Shotgun', dangit!

Salem, I'm so sorry you missed it. I know how much you cared.

It was a true moment of joy. The people in the courtroom let out a cheer. When Tori's family emerged from the courthouse, the crowd let out a cheer. When the Crown came out of the courthouse, the crowd let out a cheer.

I heard an audio feed of Rodney's comments outside the courthouse. He yelled out "VICTORIA!!". It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.

I'm glad you're here to savour the moment with us now. (Although I have to go to sleep soon, but I'm sure the others will keep partying with you!! )

Thank you for keeping this motley crew in check over the last looooong while, during such an emotional ride. ;) It was much appreciated.

SB, I hope all is better now! I was worried about you.

Also, we had the baby delivery emergency as well. Has anyone heard if we have a new little WSer around yet?

i don't know if I want to hear it. at least not tonight, but I am interested to know.

I did a search in the London Free Press site, but between watching it and now, I did a clean up of my computer and don't have the link anymore. It was a bit tricky to find ... but it's there.

Rather than give you the answer to your question, I will give you the analytical tools to answer it yourselves." - J. Heeney

Instead of answering question 4-judge gives #Rafferty jury analytical tools to answer on thier own

Acts to demean for sexual pleasure are also sexual assault. If removal of clothing violated sexual integrity of the child, that occurred.

Just home and catching up. Heard the verdict and am so happy.
Thanks for all the information.
Rest in peace Tori and family.

Man I am having trouble getting caught up!

This has likely been posted already, but just in case it hasn't...

CityNews cameras caught Michael Rafferty leaving the courthouse with police after being found guilty on all counts Friday night.
http://www.citytv.com/toronto/citynews/videos/205270

EDITED TO ADD: I see this was posted, but it's worth watching MR hang his head in defeat in the back of the Police van!

Do you think TLM was informed of the verdict yet?

If so, what you think her reaction was?

Here's a really random, bizarre thought that just bubbled up: It is highly possible that the hugs shared while MR visited her in custody are the last physical contact that TLM has had/will have from a male for decades to come.

(guards tugging on cuffs & shackles don't count)

Well guys this has been a long journey filled with so much emotion. Tears, anger and joy. I spent many nights on this board over the last three years and I am just happy right now.

I thank the mods for all the hard work, throwing me on a T/O when I got too emotional.

This is just a great day for Canadian justice. They really learned from the mistakes of PB and KH.

May they both rot in jail for the rest of their sick lives.

Off to bed finally after a very long tiring day.

See you all tomorrow....... If I'm allowed lol

Part 1 of MR interview on night of arrest at approx. 3:19 minutes.

LE states they have been to home depot and have the video. Than he says they have been to the other side of guelph where Tori is.
Confused because she was not found until Mid July. Or is this an interrogation
Technique?
Will continue watching...
