Story still developing, but these two events may be connected. A suspicious package that turned up at Conservative Party HQ in our nation's capital seems to have contained a human foot. On the same day a torso was found in a suitcase in Montreal in a garbage skip. Political wags are already homing in on the symbolism of the act, but something far more serious may in play here.

Hello fellow WSers! Such great news today!
I don't have enough time to catch up on all of the details (over 1400 posts in just over 24 hours??!), so I was wondering if someone would be willing to give me the Coles Notes version.
What I know so far from spending a bit of time reading the headlines:
- LRM was caught in Berlin after taking a bus (train?) from Paris to Berlin. Someone on the bus (train?) recognized him.
- LRM went to one of the nearest internet cafes upon arriving in Berlin...spent a couple of hours reading about himself (and commenting on Youtube and other social media sites no doubt). Someone there (an employee?) recognized him and contaced the police. LE arrived and arrested him with LRM offering no resistance.
Are there any other highlights that I've missed?
In quickly looking over some posts here I saw mention of a video from the internet cafe. Is there a link?
Was he traveling alone?

Just have to add....that I love the fact that so many of tonight's news articles refer to LRM as a porn actor, as opposed to a porn star. They are finally getting their facts right!

This is kind of embarrassing to share with everyone: The images seen on this previously linked Photobucket page (http://s1187.photobucket.com/albums/z385/guantanamera/) of the person in the pink and white striped shirt and white NY Yankees hat that are purported to be Magnotta are definitely Photoshop creations. Now the embarrassing portion of this posting: I know they are not Magnotta because I immediately recognized these images from an adult film I really enjoyed (I'm a fan of a good plot line) and said adult film was shot in the UK circa 2003/4 and Magnotta was not a performer in this film.

I noticed that, too, and was quite pleased! Mwwhahhaahahaaa...I'm glad they got him! Everyone was right--dude is too narcissistic to stop writing and reading about himself, as fake and hollow as it all is, and that narcissism is what got him caught! It's hilarious that he was caught when he was literally at-that-moment going through his self-obsessed habits. :floorlaugh:

I hope he understands how unspecial he is when he doesn't get his very own specially-made-Paul-Bernardo-twin cell.

Just wanted to let you know that isn't the Twin Towers. It is a pause sign as that appears to be a framegrab from a video. Notice how you can see the tree through them and the video bar at the bottom. Hope that helps.

What is interesting about that is the way he is holding his cigarette in one of those shots, then. Exactly how he was holding it in the "Luka just saying Hi" video we saw on YouTube last night. Are you absolutely sure? Perhaps he was mimicking that movie?

I noticed the cat background last night and it weirded me out. I didn't look at any of the videos though, can't help with that query.

Jeanne if I wasn't 100% sure do you think I would share that nugget of information as to exactly how I knew it was not Magnotta? I could probably get you the name of the film and you are welcome to do the cigarette comparison (it was the cigarette, Pepsi and the pose which stood out as definitely from the adult cinematography title I was referring to).

The background and the photos did change, or the account posted changed. I noticed it immediately, but hesitated to mention it b/c there are so many accounts and I figured it was "just me" and I had missed one. But that cat looks just like my "Sammy cat" and makes me want to rip his freakin' head off. And there definitely were new photos added if it's the same account. I think I noticed this Sat. night. I could be wrong about that, though.

I really hope that the trend of referring to folks in pornography as porn actors or porn performers continues; I think porn is the only industry that you can do one scene in one film and you are immediately and forever a star.

I know CatrelStevens originally posted about ripoffreport.com and all of LM's aliases, but I wanted to outline ALL the findings since there are lots from May 24/25. This seems to be one of LM's fav places to run his smear campaigns against those who have wronged him and he's done it as early as Nov '11.
Here it goes:
Nov 14, 2011 - Poster "Lorenz S" (LM's pseudonym) accuses Tony Minakakas of cheque fraud. If that name sounds familiar it is - it's the guy who says LM tried to pull him into his fraud case in '04 (http://www.ottawacitizen.com/mobile/news/latest-updates/20says/6714700/story.html). Interestingly, LM's rant talks about Tony's brother Niko (who is also referenced in the next citation), talks about Georges Vanier high school. The real Tony Minakakas rebutts and mentions that this hoax poster has copied and pasted the same message around the web. LM's sock puppets, Madeleine Mccann (yup not kidding!) from Vancouver and Linda R. from the US respond in favour of the original post.

May 24, 2012 - Poster Chris (LM's pseudonym) posts about what a horrible trainer NE is, how he's probably on steroids and how he isn't interested in LM's thoughts. Tony Luciforia (LM pseudonym) from L.A. responds May 25, 2012 saying he went to high school w/NE at Georges Vanier (2nd mention of this school). Throws in he's dating a guy named Niko (as in Minakakas??) who also went to Georges Vanier and was asking him about Nader (weird 'cause he just finished saying how HE went to school with him). Basically uses the rest of the post to call NE's sexuality into question.

May 24, 2012 - Poster Mario Fucatti from L.A. makes a post about how dangerous, sick and sadistic Luka Magnotta is. Calls him a serial killer. Says he's heard he sells tapes on the black market for lots of money. Cites TONS of links where his animal abuse is discussed. Responds to himself under the name Michael Fox (Back to the Future, anyone? Maybe some Family Ties?) from L.A. that he believes Luka is also the Vancouver Cat Killer and provides links (4 cats mutilated between July and Sept '11 - can we place him in BC at that time?). Then he posts again on May 24 under the name of Dima Starikova from the U.S. playing devil's advocate...you know, typical Luka - are you sure? maybe people are jealous, blah, blah, blah. NOTE: there are some photos here I haven't seen and I think the mystery guy is in 2 of them?? On May 25, Tony Luciforia makes 2 more posts - 1 directs to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Find-Serial-Killer-Luka-Magnotta/391887607519568 which was opened May 24 (WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THIS FREAK ON MAY 24th??) and the other says he thinks most people are obsessed with Luka's celebrity and not interested in his alleged victims or the kittens. He pleads for people to visit http://www.facebook.com/pages/Find-The-Python-and-Bathtime-Kitten-Killer/253972761328659 because it's the only place to get the true facts and this one looks like it's legit (now I'm confused...this sock puppet can't decide if he's pro-LM or con-LM).

May 24, 2012 - Another post without a name with location listed as Ft Lauderdale, FL pretty much the same as above. It lists Luka's address as 12305 fifth helena dr which is Marilyn Monroe's home and lists a NY phone #. Tony Luciforia responds and this time says about Luka "This ***** is SICK"

Like I said, it was a good piece of cinematography... some actors are Shakespearean-trained, others adopt Stanislavsky's method, many utilize the Meisner method; and Magnotta apparently studied obscure British adult cinematography from the early 2000s.

Because - Given that we are really busy here at WS and my attention has been diverted by other things -- I was not cluing into the fact that many of the pictures with Luka and others are not real. He has photoshopped himself into pictures he basically stold from others.
What would you think if your picture showed up in this thread with Luka sitting right next to you? I'm not sure we should be exposing innocent people like this. I have put in a request to Admin and Management to please review and provide some direction. This is basically a first for us, so we need to figure out how to handle it.
When we get it all sorted out, we will let everybody know.

Hey Everyone! I'm just settling in for the night and went to the media reference thread to get a quick update since I don't have time to wade through 50+ pages that I've missed since last being here earlier today. No media updates since 4:30 AM today? Or did I go to the wrong place? I know he was arrested, but has anything else newsworthy happened? Hey everyone. I am new here, but I've been following this thread since last night. I went to bed right before it was reported that he was caught. I was thinking he'd be caught very soon though :)
Anyway, I am not sure if this has been posted as I didn't read the 30+ pages after he was caught.
People have been wondering what his new YouTube account is. It's a foregone conclusion that he was on YouTube or at least to me it is. He was caught on a computer, and he is obsessed with himself.
It was reported that he was caught at 8AM EST.
If you go to the account "Anna Mansfield" you will notice that all of this account's viewing history is only within a 1 or 2 hour period. Right now all of the videos were watched 15 hours ago. (It could be 15 hours and 1 minute ago.. or 15 hours and 38 minutes ago, it just depends).. It is currently 11:45 EST.. The videos were viewed 15 hours ago. There is a 15 hour and 45 minute difference between when the videos were last watched and now.
The "Anna Mansfield" account was created today. It watched only 9 videos. ALL OF THE VIDEOS WERE OF LUKA MAGNOTTA. The owner of the internet cafe said they connected the dots by noticing Luka was ONLY looking at news based on the murderer. So that fits with this YouTube account. Also, "Anna Mansfield" posts on videos that were created before the murder (created by Luka), and says that Luka is innocent. That is more than likely Luka saying that. He is well known for posting on his own videos and just basically creating false drama and information.
His plan was to either drive up interest pre-video or to create some type of weird alibi by saying the video was created before the news was reported so he was setup / framed.
Every video he posts on was uploaded by one of his shill accounts other than HollywoodLoveLetters. I am not sure if HollywoodLoveLetters is his account. HollywoodLoveLetters was last accessed on June 3rd. He could have used that account while he was in Paris. It was created on June 1st. It was last active on June 3rd. A new account is created on June 4th. Only accessed for a few hours, posts on previous sock puppet accounts made by Luka. It's weird that "Anna Mansfield" would post on all sock puppet accounts except HollywoodLoveLetters. That makes me feel like HollywoodLoveLetters is Luka's Paris account..

I have to agree with others, myself a photoshop expert, i do it as a living...the pictures you are mentioning are not photoshopped!
Tineye.com reported no photos that looked close to this one. Previous photos that Luka had photoshopped showed up on Tineye.com.

when i viewed it yesterday there was no cat background (there is now), there were no frames around the photos (there are now) AND there were no videos (there are now) DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEOS - they are of the kitten killings! although im not sure it shows the actual killing...in 1 vid you see them alive. the next vid you see the stiff dead kittens...i didnt watch the 3rd in case it shows more :(
did he access that account yesterday???
I assumed that photobucket account was a place where one of the groups who have been tracking him since the kitten video's were released stored all the pictures they could find of him. It seems like the albums are all collated pictures of him linking him to that crime. The VKK thing at the top is what LM was known for: the Vacuum Kitten Killer.

So he was in the cafe for an hour and half before the police arrived? If so, that fits along perfectly with my suspicions that "Anna Mansfield" is a real Luka Magnotta account and not a troll.

I was viewing that Anna Mansfield YT exactly 9 hours after they liked some of the video's. I know it was exact because 1 minute it said 8 hours ago and the next 9 on some of them.
I am in the UK and this would have made it between 1 PM UK time (or just after) when the video's were liked. LM was arrested at 12:37 PM UK time
EDIT - If you look now (time of posting this) most of the video's that were liked have just changed to "16 hours ago". This would have made it 1 PM UK Time - Around 20 minutes AFTER LM was arrested.

I hate that picture, and I still hate LM!!!! I am hoping a lot of guys in prison will hate him too. I can't wait until he is placed into Gen Pop.... Jeffery Dahmer didn't fare too well, and I predict LM won't fare too well either.

WHOA !! I am in BC and sometimes helping someone I know look for work. About 2 weeks ago, I saw an ad on Craigslist (Vancouver) for someone who was making a movie, and said same thing ... no $$
Will try to find it if it's still there.

Says he's heard he sells tapes on the black market for lots of money. Cites TONS of links where his animal abuse is discussed. Maybe some Family Ties?) from L.A. that he believes Luka is also the Vancouver Cat Killer and provides links (4 cats mutilated between July and Sept '11 - can we place him in BC at that time?). Then he posts again on May 24 under the name of Dima Starikova from the U.S. playing devil's advocate...you know, typical Luka - are you sure? maybe people are jealous, blah, blah, blah. NOTE: there are some photos here I haven't seen and I think the mystery guy is in 2 of them?? On May 25, Tony Luciforia makes 2 more posts - 1 directs to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Find-Serial-Killer-Luka-Magnotta/391887607519568 which was opened May 24 (WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THIS FREAK ON MAY 24th??) and the other says he thinks most people are obsessed with Luka's celebrity and not interested in his alleged victims or the kittens. On Michael Fox's comment, if you follow the link to the San Francisco cat killing story (or, "Fransisco" as LM repeatedly spells it everywhere), Luka left a comment on that page too, on May 24th. It's under the name "Patricia Kravitz" (btw- I read that Patrick was Justin Lin's adopted Francophone name). Just a small addition.
It seems he couldn't stand that he did these crimes but nobody knew, if he did them.

I know CatrelStevens originally posted about ripoffreport.com and all of LM's aliases, but I wanted to outline ALL the findings since there are lots from May 24/25. This seems to be one of LM's fav places to run his smear campaigns against those who have wronged him and he's done it as early as Nov '11.
Here it goes:
Nov 14, 2011 - Poster "Lorenz S" (LM's pseudonym) accuses Tony Minakakas of cheque fraud. If that name sounds familiar it is - it's the guy who says LM tried to pull him into his fraud case in '04 (http://www.ottawacitizen.com/mobile/news/latest-updates/20says/6714700/story.html). Interestingly, LM's rant talks about Tony's brother Niko (who is also referenced in the next citation), talks about Georges Vanier high school. The real Tony Minakakas rebutts and mentions that this hoax poster has copied and pasted the same message around the web. LM's sock puppets, Madeleine Mccann (yup not kidding!) from Vancouver and Linda R. from the US respond in favour of the original post.

May 24, 2012 - Another post without a name with location listed as Ft Lauderdale, FL pretty much the same as above. It lists Luka's address as 12305 fifth helena dr which is Marilyn Monroe's home and lists a NY phone #. Tony Luciforia responds and this time says about Luka "This ***** is SICK"

Can anyone confirm what timezone Ripoff Report uses? The last ripoff report says it was posted at 10:15 AM on May 24th.. The craigslist post was made at 9:39am EDT (same as EST basically..)
Notice that the other ripoff reports are around the same time.. 1:54 AM and 2:14 AM.. Maybe he went to sleep around 2:30 am.. posted at 9:39am when he got up..
We could probably compare his writing on Ripoff Report to the Craigslist post to see if there are any similarities..
(Btw, if WS's summary is extremely detailed, are we going to send it to LE in Canada where this took place?)

This article has some information I haven't heard before - well the interview does. Apparently, he visited a hardware store in France to try and 'buy a pair of pliars'. :what: I still want to know what happened to the guy who was with him in Paris. The interview also says that he was trying to print a new identity card in Berlin at the Internet Cafe where he was arrested. Finally, one of the most awesome, and most troubling, tidbits from the linked interview: French police received over 8000 phone tips while he was in Paris! GREAT JOB WORLD WIDE WEB!!!!! Good news: A LOT of people were tuned in enough to notice this guy!!!! :clap::clap: Bad news: 8000 people called to report a sighting of LM, who had his cell phone, and who used his credit card, and he managed to LEAVE Paris??? Why wasn't LE tuned in as well??? :waitasec: Good job to the German police who marched in and got him!

He also comments recently about "his" LM defense fund being taken down, death threats, a plea for rational thinking (ha!) and discussion about this etc. He also has a video posted claiming that LM was set up (haven't watched it yet).
Has it been determined that this YT channel owner is only a troll or ?? The date the channel was created is Oct. 2011. I'm confused about why a comment from a channel called Shane Taylor will show up as Eric Newman being the commenter.
Long time lurker finally posting. I would have done so a few days ago but I am another one who didn't want to be suspected of being LM.

It could be that those videos only appeared as "liked" on his page 20 minutes (or more) after he actually liked them. Youtube is notoriously slow at updating viewing statistics on videos, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I just wanted to post my generalized thoughts, and thank you's. I've been following the case on this forum since accidentally coming across a still photo taken from "the" video. Some idiot on a forum completely unrelated to crime thought it would be a good idea to post a huge shot of poor Jun Lin's disembodied head in the very first post of a thread. I audibly screamed and clicked away, but that split second view of that photo etched into m brain and has haunted me for days now. I've been glued to this forum since then, and thank you all for your wonderful work unearthing LM's internet life. LM is possibly the single most bizarre person I have ever come across. I was about halfway through the previous thread when it was pulled for review, so I apologize if this has been dealt with, but I also believe Eric Newman was here on this forum, and most active in the third thread. If it wasn't Eric, it was someone whose trains of logic was quite horrifying.
I have been scrupulous about avoiding seeing any of the videos. I'm thankful to this forum for being a safe place to follow this case without the risk of seeing something that would no doubt traumatize me. I am grateful to those of you here who have watched it so that I didn't have to, however. Also, many thanks to Kadir Anlayisli, the Berlin internet cafe owner, who recognized and turned this lunatic in. :rocker: :cheer:
Although I breathe a huge sigh of relief that LM is no longer out there in the world to stalk another victim, I am still left with feelings of unease about the sort of people that this personality brought out of the woodwork. Tonight, I'm still walking around my house with a feeling of paranoia and unease. The Youtube poster Beavis Butthead is apparently NOT Eric Newman, and neither are many of the other alleged sockpuppet accounts previously attributed to him. There was also a thread on the Bodybuilding.com forum about the killvid, in which members watched and joked around about this macabre account of Jun Lin's last moments of life. There are people out there who don't seem to register the horror of what this video portrays.
This monster exploited an innocent, kind, beautiful man's life, and essentially used this human being's body as a vehicle for his own infamy. I am horrified at the thought that there are people out there using this video for their own kicks: in the same way "chili-heads" go after the hottest chili peppers in the world to get a rush or test their mettle. Now that Magnotta has been caught, there is no reason for this video to remain online. Enough people have seen it (and been scarred by it). It only does harm -- disrespecting the memory of Jun Lin. Unfortunately, as a card-carrying member of the "Facebook-generation" I know that once something is put online, it's impossible to remove all traces of it. Were that we could expunge all traces of Luka Magnotta's viral delusion from the web for good. :please:

Derek MacKinnon, LM's neighbor/landlord, has been interviewed by the Toronto Sun. He wonders if LM was influenced by a role he (Derek) played in a horror many years ago.
Derek MacKinnon played a serial killer who cut a young victim to pieces in the 1980 film Terror Train, and now he wonders if his former downstairs neighbour, Luka Magnotta, made life imitate art.
The 56-year-old actor told QMI Agency that the similarities between his film and Magnotta's alleged crimes are too close to be a coincidence.
"(My character) killed 11 people, my appearance was always changing and I dismembered a victim," MacKinnon said of his character in the film, shot in Montreal 32 years ago.
"The similarity is pretty significant."

Click on his name and it takes you to Shane Taylor's YT channel who is commenting about LM and the arrest - after the arrest. He also comments recently about "his" LM defense fund being taken down, death threats, a plea for rational thinking (ha!) and discussion about this etc. He also has a video posted claiming that LM was set up (haven't watched it yet).
Has it been determined that this YT channel owner is only a troll or ?? The date the channel was created is Oct. 2011. I'm confused about why a comment from a channel called Shane Taylor will show up as Eric Newman being the commenter.
Long time lurker finally posting. I would have done so a few days ago but I am another one who didn't want to be suspected of being LM.
I saw a comment by that person last night saying that he had renamed his account to be "eric newman" using google+. I don't know what it was before the change, but it's only been eric newman for a day or so.

I hate that picture, and I still hate LM!!!! I am hoping a lot of guys in prison will hate him too. I can't wait until he is placed into Gen Pop.... Jeffery Dahmer didn't fare too well, and I predict LM won't fare too well either.
In Canada they keep the freakier prisoners segregated for their own protection. Luka would never be put in gen pop.:moo:

Now that Magnotta has been caught, there is no reason for this video to remain online. Enough people have seen it (and been scarred by it). It only does harm -- disrespecting the memory of Jun Lin. Unfortunately, as a card-carrying member of the "Facebook-generation" I know that once something is put online, it's impossible to remove all traces of it. Were that we could expunge all traces of Luka Magnotta's viral delusion from the web for good. :please:

Just MO, but I think LRM took bits and pieces of many horror/slasher flicks into consideration during his violation of dear Jun Lin. It pangs me to say that.. but I truly believe he stored every visual he could from every horror movie he saw and acted it out on Jun Lin.

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I just wanted to post my generalized thoughts, and thank you's. I've been following the case on this forum since accidentally coming across a still photo taken from "the" video. Some idiot on a forum completely unrelated to crime thought it would be a good idea to post a huge shot of poor Jun Lin's disembodied head in the very first post of a thread. I audibly screamed and clicked away, but that split second view of that photo etched into m brain and has haunted me for days now. I've been glued to this forum since then, and thank you all for your wonderful work unearthing LM's internet life. LM is possibly the single most bizarre person I have ever come across. I was about halfway through the previous thread when it was pulled for review, so I apologize if this has been dealt with, but I also believe Eric Newman was here on this forum, and most active in the third thread. If it wasn't Eric, it was someone whose trains of logic was quite horrifying.
I have been scrupulous about avoiding seeing any of the videos. I'm thankful to this forum for being a safe place to follow this case without the risk of seeing something that would no doubt traumatize me. I am grateful to those of you here who have watched it so that I didn't have to, however. Also, many thanks to Kadir Anlayisli, the Berlin internet cafe owner, who recognized and turned this lunatic in. :rocker: :cheer:
Although I breathe a huge sigh of relief that LM is no longer out there in the world to stalk another victim, I am still left with feelings of unease about the sort of people that this personality brought out of the woodwork. Tonight, I'm still walking around my house with a feeling of paranoia and unease. The Youtube poster Beavis Butthead is apparently NOT Eric Newman, and neither are many of the other alleged sockpuppet accounts previously attributed to him. There was also a thread on the Bodybuilding.com forum about the killvid, in which members watched and joked around about this macabre account of Jun Lin's last moments of life. There are people out there who don't seem to register the horror of what this video portrays.

Respectfully bolded by me: the exact same thing happened to me. When the police released Magnotta's name, I choked on my coffee (came across it in 2009, before the kitten videos even showed up...), then started sleuthing. THAT came up. It might just be the worst thing I have ever seen... that image... the look of horror on the poor man's face.... will ever be imprinted in my brain.
I also wish that we could just give the internet a good bleach-and-peroxide bath and scrub it of all traces of Magnotta. I don't hate much, but I HATE that nasty maggot for what he has done. There are so many other things he could have done to get attention... why this?!?!

I agree. He deliberately copied several movies or games..
His new last name (Magnotta) is the same as the last name of a character in a video game called Ripper. The character was a lead detective on a case where the Ripper sent messages to a reporter for a newspaper detailing his murders. (The wiki of Ripper (Video Game) explains this.) It's just assumed the letters are from Ripper since it was never proven to be him sending them.
(Magnotta changed his name to a character in the game, and he also sent letters to The Sun with the name John Kilbride.) (John Kilbride is a Moors Murder victim)
In the video game, Ripper sends a threatening letter to the reporter investigating..
(Magnotta did send a scary letter that was threatening to The Sun reporter several months ago)
In that letter, Magnotta says "Killing is different than smoking... with smoking you can actually quit."
(The movie Basic Instinct, this quote is used "Killing isn't like smoking. You can stop".. The character's name is Catherine Tramell. Magnotta uses an account named Katherine Tramell on a site.)
The murder video has a song from American Psycho.

I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure that most inmates do not have internet access, but can purchase news papers.
Can somebody confirm or deny this?

Ugh, I am so sorry you came across that image as well. It truly is probably the most horrifying thing I've ever seen as well. I, too, rarely hate anybody, but I just cannot bring myself to feel anything other than utter revulsion and enmity for people who can exhibit this level of cruelty. There are other cases where I've had this level of hatred (certain despots and genocidal leaders, Josef Fritzl, the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs), but this one was so bizarre, Magnotta's image so ubiquitous, and that image so gruesome, it reached new levels.

Hey everyone. I am new here, but I've been following this thread since last night. I went to bed right before it was reported that he was caught. I was thinking he'd be caught very soon though :)
Anyway, I am not sure if this has been posted as I didn't read the 30+ pages after he was caught.
People have been wondering what his new YouTube account is. It's a foregone conclusion that he was on YouTube or at least to me it is. He was caught on a computer, and he is obsessed with himself.
It was reported that he was caught at 8AM EST.
If you go to the account "Anna Mansfield" you will notice that all of this account's viewing history is only within a 1 or 2 hour period. Right now all of the videos were watched 15 hours ago. (It could be 15 hours and 1 minute ago.. or 15 hours and 38 minutes ago, it just depends).. It is currently 11:45 EST.. The videos were viewed 15 hours ago. There is a 15 hour and 45 minute difference between when the videos were last watched and now.
The "Anna Mansfield" account was created today. It watched only 9 videos. ALL OF THE VIDEOS WERE OF LUKA MAGNOTTA. The owner of the internet cafe said they connected the dots by noticing Luka was ONLY looking at news based on the murderer. So that fits with this YouTube account. Also, "Anna Mansfield" posts on videos that were created before the murder (created by Luka), and says that Luka is innocent. That is more than likely Luka saying that. He is well known for posting on his own videos and just basically creating false drama and information.
His plan was to either drive up interest pre-video or to create some type of weird alibi by saying the video was created before the news was reported so he was setup / framed.
Every video he posts on was uploaded by one of his shill accounts other than HollywoodLoveLetters. I am not sure if HollywoodLoveLetters is his account. HollywoodLoveLetters was last accessed on June 3rd. He could have used that account while he was in Paris. It was created on June 1st. It was last active on June 3rd. A new account is created on June 4th. Only accessed for a few hours, posts on previous sock puppet accounts made by Luka. It's weird that "Anna Mansfield" would post on all sock puppet accounts except HollywoodLoveLetters. That makes me feel like HollywoodLoveLetters is Luka's Paris account..

I was sure last night that Anna Mansfield was him and have said it on hear a couple of times, a couple of others have agreed..............so thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining in good detail why I was suss of this account.
Another poster noted that Anna is his mums name, and Jayne Mansfield was decapitated in a car accident....
He just couldnt keep away from the net could he!!

There were reports that he had stayed with two people.. One person for 1 day, and another person for 2 days (Please correct me if I'm wrong).
Notice on the account HollywoodLoveLetters, the avatar is of Hollywood. He had enough time to post an avatar so I'm guessing he felt pretty comfortable wherever he was. (Like inside someone's house in Paris.. or his hotel room)..
Can someone who has looked at most of his pictures confirm if the two videos posted on that account are previously unreleased photos?

The other video on the account refers to Luka and the account creator (probably Luka) as his fellow "WeHo" bro. We know that Luka has hardly an friends. Every picture of him with other people has been photoshopped. I can picture Luka (doing anything lol), but I can definitely see him typing about himself since he is narcissistic.
The account HollywoodLoveLetters was watching videos about the Hollywood Sign Murder. I'm thinking this account (possibly owned by Luka) was trying to somehow link himself to the Hollywood Sign Murders..
The other account, (the one I believe he used in Berlin for only 1 hour~), is "Anna Mansfield"..
That account uses the same type of writing as the HollywoodLoveLetters' account, and the account name is closely related to a less popular sock puppet account he had used previously.
I already mentioned this before, but this account was used right around the time he arrived at the internet cafe, and it stopped being active right after he was arrested. It also does the stuff Luka normally does and that is just make up lies about himself, and try to make Luka Magnotta appear like a god. The HollywoodLoveLetters account even mentions that Luka is so great because he is invaded Interpol and is a millionaire. I believe none of those are true now :)

If he is in the same type of custody as Bernardo, Rafferty and Williams then there is no internet access but can watch tv.
Was thinking of the comparison to Li the greyhound bus murderer. I am not sure this is the same sort of comparison. Seems as though LM knew that what he was doing was wrong and he made the choice to do it anyways and to evade capture. So not sure he would end up in facility such as Li is in but defo would think he would be in protective custody such as what they have for the likes of Bernardo etc. Hard to say which route his lawyers will take or LM will take. I am curious on if they have found the 4 videos and 2 forum posts that mention 1 Lunatic 1 Icepick 9 days before the murder was committed.. That shows a lot of preparation.
Thank you for all of this....I was posting last night (australian time) and a few people noticed this on this hollywoodloveletter account. I was sure last night that Anna Mansfield was him and have said it on hear a couple of times, a couple of others have agreed..............so thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining in good detail why I was suss of this account.
Another poster noted that Anna is his mums name, and Jayne Mansfield was decapitated in a car accident....
He just couldnt keep away from the net could he!!
Oh wow, awesome. Thanks. The reasoning behind the name now makes much more sense. I'm like 80% sure it's him. We will just have to wait. If it's a troll, it's a good one lol.

after sifting through all these posts and even reading a news article or two about..... I am thinking (as is probably many of you guys by now) that most likely LM was the Hollywood sign killer. Too many circumstantial yet highly obvious things pointing in that direction and I am fairly certain L.E. in LA and AZ should have this on their radar by now.
and yeah scattering pieces of your kill around the Hollywood sign area would make sense for a crazy obsessed with fame.
Trying to wrap my head around this onion of crazy as each layer is peeled back. I can't believe the direction this story seems to be going.

It is untrue that Jayne Mansfield was decapitated. How that rumor got started was that her wig flew off during the auto accident and a first on scene reporter thought it was her head and reported that she was decapitated. However, she was not - but the rumor still exists even though the coroner and funeral director have both come out publicly stating that that info is false.
Anywho....I'm so glad LM has been caught! I hope Canada can get him back quickly so that legal process can begin. I want justice for Mr. Lin and for all the kitties!! I also hope that if he is linked to other crimes that he will be charged and judged guilty. It's too bad Canada doesn't have the death penalty. Even if he is linked to a murder here in the US, I don't think Canada would extradite him if the death penalty were on the table. Too bad for that - cause I know I want this guy to fry for the evil things he did.
ETA - I wish I could link the article, but I didn't bookmark it. The other day there was a poll in a Canadian newspaper that asked if Canada should re-establish the death penalty. Last time I check it was up to something like 79% of people who voted thought they should.

There were reports that he had stayed with two people.. One person for 1 day, and another person for 2 days (Please correct me if I'm wrong).
Notice on the account HollywoodLoveLetters, the avatar is of Hollywood. He had enough time to post an avatar so I'm guessing he felt pretty comfortable wherever he was. (Like inside someone's house in Paris.. or his hotel room)..
Can someone who has looked at most of his pictures confirm if the two videos posted on that account are previously unreleased photos?

I already mentioned this before, but this account was used right around the time he arrived at the internet cafe, and it stopped being active right after he was arrested. It also does the stuff Luka normally does and that is just make up lies about himself, and try to make Luka Magnotta appear like a god. The HollywoodLoveLetters account even mentions that Luka is so great because he is invaded Interpol and is a millionaire. I believe none of those are true now :)
I don't know if other sites were talking about it, or whether LRM was reading here, but on the morning of May 31 I had posted about him possibly being connected to the Hervey Medellin case. The HollywoodLoveLetters account was established June 1, so yeah ... i think there's a very good likelihood that account is his.

SBM (Snipped By Me): First, Welcome to WebSleuths to ALL of our new members!!! I watched this horrible video, and I will always hold Jun Lin in the highest regard. He did NOT deserve this, and my heart breaks for his family. As a long time WS member, I have seen so much horror and grief that it could fill all of the oceans of the Universe. I have also seen sincere people who care, and who will demand justice. I totally know what you mean about photo's being etched into your brain and being haunted by what you have seen. That is when it is time to take a break, and CELEBRATE the beauty that life has to offer - not only celebrate it, REVEL in it!!! Go find something fabulous to enjoy and take advantage of the gift you have.. a free life. Personally, I am getting ready to go to bed, read a book until my mind blurs, and then tomorrow, and I am going to look at pretty pictures of home decor and recipes on Pinterest. You're right, it is good advice. I think tomorrow, I will take my daughter out for a walk... no idea where, just start walking and see where her ideas take us, maybe get some ice cream or pizza or something else equally as unhealthy (but enjoyable). Sounds like you had a great day :)
Between this case, and the Rafferty case, my anxiety issues have been acting up lately, and I just need to relax. And by 'relax', I don't mean 'binge drink' (as I have been doing quite a bit lately... used to be an alcoholic, been binging a bit too much lately... need to just take a break).... will still check in, but I will make it a rule not to check in until after 10pm now for a little bit.
Eric Newman gave me a headache in 2009 when I was trying to figure out if KH was living anywhere near me... and headache doesn't even begin to describe what he has done now.
Time to finish my whiskey, have a tea, and go to bed.
(not bragging about alcohol consumption... I have found that being open about it has helped me not completely relapse... and explains any bizarre typos and grammatically incorrect, run-on sentences I may have going on haha)

Take a close look at his MUGSHOT and some of his other recent pics and videos, he looks a lot of different in that mugshot, granted he doesnt have his make-up and eye shadow on but he really looks like someone who has had a psychotic break in that mugshot, they are lucky they got him when they did as I have no doubt that he was on the hunt for another victim on the internet when they nabbed him.

By 'different', I am guessing you mean his expression? Normally he has the exact same expression on his face (even when he was young, when he was still known as Eric Newman)... If Magnotta eventually pleads not guilty to first-degree murder, he will face a trial by judge and jury at the courthouse in Old Montreal.
Magnotta’s trial could be held in Room 5.15, which can accommodate a large number of media and members of the public. The room was used to hold the inquest into the death of teenager Fredy Villanueva.
The judge in the case could also hold the trial in a smaller courtroom and allow the many journalists expected to attend to have access to the proceedings via a video link, said a Quebec justice official, who spoke only on the condition that his name not be published.

Indeed it was Beemer ... indeed it was. Canada and Germany have a really strong extradiction pact so I am not expecting too much in the way of delays to get Eric Newman(birth name) into the Canadian justice system. Of course he could always try to fight the extradiction to delay the return.
Germany will boot his arse as soon as they can.

I am still pretty sure the HLL Youtube is his, and I believe the other account that is definitely his is the Darklillyangel account. HLL "Subscribed" to the DLA account, and the only video's 'liked' by DLA are about the Hollywood murder, with the exception of a video about "Most Evil Children In History" and one about some movie that I have thankfully never seen called "Cannibal Holocaust deleted Video graphic violence only for strong heart, not for children". Only the head and hands of Hervey Medellin were ever found. Is there some sort of abandoned 'school' or something associated with children close to where Mr. Medellin lived? I am also interested if there was any surveillance video of the guy with Eric/Luka. This article says that they "clearly knew each other".

It could be that those videos only appeared as "liked" on his page 20 minutes (or more) after he actually liked them. Youtube is notoriously slow at updating viewing statistics on videos, so it wouldn't surprise me.
I was watching an interview with the man who indetified Luka in Berlin. He said the YouTube channel he was looking at there was one of the French police. I think that rules out him being on any of these troll channels.

Agree with you that any links to Mr. Medellin need to be explored in relation to Eric Newman. Just don't know where to start looking to try and establish the connection. I guess it would first have to be established that Eric was in the area at the time Mr. Medellin was murdered.

What I see is barely suppressed rage. And from accounts he has a short fuse and used to pick fights on the street? I would say he is bubbling up with rage in that picture.

I sincerely hope someone from the German police went back and confiscated computer 25 at the Internet cafe. I suspect the authorities can learn a great deal from the browsing history, account/passwords, etc.
So far I have been less than impressed by the foreign (to me) forensics - throwing out the furniture, leaving the fridge in the apartment, leaving that Internet cafe computer.

I'm no techie. Far from being an Information Technology expert but why would one need to take the computer? Can't his online surfing be done with other tools?
Also, we have proof he was at computer station #25 and we have an eyewitness. We have him in the surveillance video being taken away by LE. We have his admission of who he is and he was fingerprinted for identification.
I'm not so sure the computer itself would reveal anymore than LE already would have on him. Like cellpone pings,wouldn't computer tracking be done in a similar way? The actual cellphone (as an example) is not always needed. As long as they can connect the suspect cellphone to the pings, I would think it would be more than enough evidence.
JMO from little knowledge I know of the topic. Thoughts?

From the interviews done with the employee in Berlin who caught him, they already know which sites he was visiting...apparently the YouTube channel he was watching, BTW, was one of the French police, which rules out any activity from the trolls being discussed being Luka. I too, don't see the need in taking the computer.

Good Morning everyone! What a great feeling to know LM is in jail today! I am still pretty sure the HLL Youtube is his, and I believe the other account that is definitely his is the Darklillyangel account. HLL "Subscribed" to the DLA account, and the only video's 'liked' by DLA are about the Hollywood murder, with the exception of a video about "Most Evil Children In History" and one about some movie that I have thankfully never seen called "Cannibal Holocaust deleted Video graphic violence only for strong heart, not for children". Only the head and hands of Hervey Medellin were ever found. Is there some sort of abandoned 'school' or something associated with children close to where Mr. Medellin lived? The two accounts (DarkLillyAngel and HollywoodLoveLetters) only watched one video in common. I was watching an interview with the man who indetified Luka in Berlin. He said the YouTube channel he was looking at there was one of the French police. I think that rules out him being on any of these troll channels.

Derek MacKinnon, LM's neighbor/landlord, has been interviewed by the Toronto Sun. He wonders if LM was influenced by a role he (Derek) played in a horror many years ago.

It's quite a famous horror flick and Derek was interviewed at length in 2010 at MonsterMania (possible horror convention) and he goes into elaborate detail about his character in "Terror Train", his only starring role and the one that is eerily similar to LM's actions.

It a very long interview and worth reading. Also worth mentioning is that Derek MacKinnon seems like an incredible man. He's led an interesting life and seems like a good egg. I wish him well.
I'm not so sure how credible DK really is and am skeptical of his comments.
Here's why:
- His initial timeline as to when Magnotta talked to him about wanting to get into mainstream acting and subsequently invited him over to discuss further implied that the conversation occurred after the murder occurred. When i first viewed his comments I was suspect because given the smell of death that permeated Magnotta's apartment, there's no way he would have guests over.
- DK is a failed actor, a one hit wonder whose comments strike me as opportunistic. The apartment complex where the crime occurred is a cheap, unappealing abode. I doubt Magnotta actually had a discussion about how to be a successful actor with DK-- No one asks cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch how to reach that pinnacle of success...
Not trying to sleuth a non-suspect, just attempting to raise some important aspects that directly relates to evidence and the timeline of events.

Besides information coming out that lead me to believe none of the recent accounts were him, there is the timeline of events that make it unlikely. We now know he was travelling without a laptop, which actually makes sense. He was on the run; one would assume he would be travelling light. Also, during the times when the accounts were most active, he was spotted in a cafe with a well built man, he was knocking on doors asking to be included in a party, he was at a gay bar picking up someone to spend the night with, he was making his way to the bus station...do you see where I am going with this? While internet sleuths were glued to their computers being led on a merry chase by various sick trolls, Luka was busy trying to find places to hide and making contacts. It will be interesting to hear from other bus passengers who traveled with him to Berlin.

When I read the comment mentioning "other clients" my mind immediately wondered if there is a possible escort connection.
I'd also speculate, and basing it on one's own experience from my youth, that sometimes when you're out and about, have a few cocktails, meet someone new that you click with and decide to have a sleepover party you tend to be feeling happy and chat up random people and just being pleasant-- whether it be a hotel lobby or elevator of a condo, sometimes in those situations you just become a chatty Cathy...

- DK is a failed actor, a one hit wonder whose comments strike me as opportunistic. The apartment complex where the crime occurred is a cheap, unappealing abode. I doubt Magnotta actually had a discussion about how to be a successful actor with DK-- No one asks cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch how to reach that pinnacle of success...
Not trying to sleuth a non-suspect, just attempting to raise some important aspects that directly relates to evidence and the timeline of events.

I read that the German police would hold him, but not do any investigation because it is a Canadian case. Could be why the computer wasn't confiscated. However, it does look like they are not allowing it's further use if the chair folded up to it is any indication. We really have no way of knowing what they are doing and IMO, we should be wary to make assumptions based on a few pictures.

Agree with you that any links to Mr. Medellin need to be explored in relation to Eric Newman. Just don't know where to start looking to try and establish the connection. I guess it would first have to be established that Eric was in the area at the time Mr. Medellin was murdered.
I'm really happy that the Medellin case has recaptured our interest. I posted in the Medellin thread months ago that I was very troubled by the way that all coverage of that case ceased in late January. It baffles me. About once a week I search Medellin's name hoping that there would be a new tidbit of information or follow-up, but there has been none. :mad:

Good morning fine people of WS :) I am new here too. I was lurking since this whole thing started, but signed up and posted my first comment ironically only about 20 mins before he was caught. It was very neat being one of the first people to hear he was caught.. as a member of WS who was also on at the time..was the first to say they heard from a German chat room he was arrested in Berlin (forget who that was ..but BRAVO and damn good catch!) A quick Google search turned up nothing...which goes to show how early the news was posted on here..about 10-15 mins after it had been announced on WS it started showing up on Google reported by somewhat reputable websites...and an hour or two before the news got to the US (where I am from). I have to say that alone was MOST impressive...good job guys!!! I am quite honored to be in this forum with such intelligent, tenacious and well spoken people. Oh the irony that LM couldn't even hold up to these ranks here....
As the founder/president of an animal welfare non-profit organization I have been following LM for a few years now..but unfortunately he is not the only person who has brutally tortured and killed animals...so until about a week ago..to me he was just another creepy murderer in the making. I did not see the kitten videos but I watched the "Lunatic" video in the very beginning when it was still thought to be fake. Even though it was reportedly fake...after watching it once..I knew it was real. That was when I couldn't turn away from this train wreck. I have no degree- but have years of Psychology from my college years, and the "why?" and "what IS really normal to him..what is HIS reality?" and "is this a physiological defect or a mental one...both?"...gosh the questions in my mind about this person are vast. From an animal welfare perspective, to me there has always been the link "it starts with animals, then progresses to humans" but this is not "just another" example. This one is different and just might start to make people open their eyes about the progression of a murderer. Its sad that his actions were ignored until now. IMO he should have been getting the attention he was craving a few years ago...from the authorities.
I hope that we can get some useful studies out of this case that can be implemented into the public's mind as to how to handle animal abusers and precautions that should be taken. In the US we are fighting to get animal abuser registries that would help in identifying were people like LM are, and enable people to protect not only their pets from them but their families as well. Right now laws are protecting the rights of the animals abusers..but we hope to start changing that...as I am actively involved in influencing legislation in my area.
What I am trying to say is.. I do feel some good can come out of this horrible event. This shocking event SHOULD open peoples eyes. Jun Lin's death can be the "line in the sand". I for one will be collecting all of this data and compiling a report that I will use in my work to get people like this more regulated here in the US. The fact is if he wasn't left to his own devices for these past two years this might not have happened. Its too early to really know much about what happened as there are still so many unanswered questions.
With all that being said...do we have a way of creating documents with all the definitive info we are gathering? (ex verified sock puppet accounts, comments he has made from his known accounts and others, photoshopped pics and real ones, timelines etc..etc etc) ..we have so much great info coming on this thread but it's be prudent if we organized and filed it for our investigation and for the authorities should they need it. In my organization we share google docs and also have a room on FB in which we share docs if this site doesn't have the capabilities.
I am new and don't fully understand all the functions of this great site yet, so any advice is welcomed :) patience with learning the in's and out's of this site is appreciated!
BTW- I took last night and reflected on Jun Lin's life and prayed for his family. It gave me great peace, and it's what is driving me make sure his death changes things. RIP JL <3

If he uses the same password for all his accounts, (I'm guessing he does, although I have no idea how he even keeps up with account names lol) then they could find out if the posts made by anonymousgirl4 and anonymousgirl33 along with alexisvaloranreich were actually Luka Magnotta himself posting. (anonymousgirl4 made a post on May 15th asking for the 1 Lunatic 1 Icepick video. anonymousgirl33 made a video on the same day with the picture of Magnotta with a Casablanca poster behind him and an icepick in his hand.) May 15th is 9-10 days before the murder occurred. I would say that could prove intent, although having a victim tied up and seeing him alive on the video, and his body chopped up right after on that same video, it kinda proves it wasn't a heat of the moment crime.
Also, if he has a personal diary, we could see if he admits to other crimes. You would need his password to find this information.

I think his testimony is legitimate. I heard his testimony right after the foot was found. He said that Magnotta was having a "bad hair day" He may have embellished it though, because I remember him saying that they were just friendly neighbors that didn't know each other that well. He said that he had mentioned to him that he played a murderer in that movie. I don't believe he said they were in one another's house. I thought he said it was outside. I never got the impression that this conversation was after the murder. It is known though that DK saw Magnotta after the murder. That is when he made the "bad hair day" statement.
Does anyone think it's odd that Magnotta was "not feeling well" and "crying" on the flight? You would think a guy that could do what he did to animals/people would have no emotions or feelings.

I think that if he were to get the option of either having a trial that would result in possibly life in prison or if he were to plea to a sentence that would allow him to spend the last 10 years of his life outside of prison, he would chose the trial. The thrill of attention is just too much. Although most murderers would choose that because they are bad at decision making.

I believe that bucket belongs to a member of the ForGreatJustice Facebook group that was tracking the Kitten Vacuumer. One photo in that bucket showed Luka posing with Toronto's Chief of Police. That photo has been removed. I wouldn't be surprised if the police clamped down on a few web sites concerning the publishing of certain photos.

For any American legal minds out there... what would happen IF the hollywood murder that happened in January was eventually linked and proven to be one of his deeds. Would the U.S. go after him for this and how would it work in the judicial system for things happening here in Canada. I understand the most he can get here in Canada is 25 years BUT if he were also found to be the individual in the hollywood murder how would that play out and would he be sent to the U.S. to stand trial after 25 years????

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I just wanted to post my generalized thoughts, and thank you's. I've been following the case on this forum since accidentally coming across a still photo taken from "the" video. Some idiot on a forum completely unrelated to crime thought it would be a good idea to post a huge shot of poor Jun Lin's disembodied head in the very first post of a thread. I audibly screamed and clicked away, but that split second view of that photo etched into m brain and has haunted me for days now. I've been glued to this forum since then, and thank you all for your wonderful work unearthing LM's internet life. LM is possibly the single most bizarre person I have ever come across. I was about halfway through the previous thread when it was pulled for review, so I apologize if this has been dealt with, but I also believe Eric Newman was here on this forum, and most active in the third thread. If it wasn't Eric, it was someone whose trains of logic was quite horrifying.
I have been scrupulous about avoiding seeing any of the videos. I'm thankful to this forum for being a safe place to follow this case without the risk of seeing something that would no doubt traumatize me. I am grateful to those of you here who have watched it so that I didn't have to, however. Also, many thanks to Kadir Anlayisli, the Berlin internet cafe owner, who recognized and turned this lunatic in. :rocker: :cheer:
Although I breathe a huge sigh of relief that LM is no longer out there in the world to stalk another victim, I am still left with feelings of unease about the sort of people that this personality brought out of the woodwork. Tonight, I'm still walking around my house with a feeling of paranoia and unease. The Youtube poster Beavis Butthead is apparently NOT Eric Newman, and neither are many of the other alleged sockpuppet accounts previously attributed to him. There was also a thread on the Bodybuilding.com forum about the killvid, in which members watched and joked around about this macabre account of Jun Lin's last moments of life. There are people out there who don't seem to register the horror of what this video portrays.
This monster exploited an innocent, kind, beautiful man's life, and essentially used this human being's body as a vehicle for his own infamy. I am horrified at the thought that there are people out there using this video for their own kicks: in the same way "chili-heads" go after the hottest chili peppers in the world to get a rush or test their mettle. Now that Magnotta has been caught, there is no reason for this video to remain online. Enough people have seen it (and been scarred by it). It only does harm -- disrespecting the memory of Jun Lin. Unfortunately, as a card-carrying member of the "Facebook-generation" I know that once something is put online, it's impossible to remove all traces of it. Were that we could expunge all traces of Luka Magnotta's viral delusion from the web for good. :please:

I was watching an interview with the man who indetified Luka in Berlin. He said the YouTube channel he was looking at there was one of the French police. I think that rules out him being on any of these troll channels.
I'm sorry but how does that rule him out to being any of the internet troll? He was in the cafe for over an hour and half which is a long time to have been on just one site. The interviews I have read were that the employee kept walking back and forth and saw he was on a french site, youtube sites, a police site and a site for applying (or making) a passport.
Another reason I believe at least one of the account is him is because he has done this before. People have been tracking him for 2 years since the kitten video's, he did exactly the same after those video's surfaced, hit the net with numerous alias's defending "Luka".

If he uses the same password for all his accounts, (I'm guessing he does, although I have no idea how he even keeps up with account names lol) then they could find out if the posts made by anonymousgirl4 and anonymousgirl33 along with alexisvaloranreich were actually Luka Magnotta himself posting. (anonymousgirl4 made a post on May 15th asking for the 1 Lunatic 1 Icepick video. anonymousgirl33 made a video on the same day with the picture of Magnotta with a Casablanca poster behind him and an icepick in his hand.) May 15th is 9-10 days before the murder occurred. I would say that could prove intent, although having a victim tied up and seeing him alive on the video, and his body chopped up right after on that same video, it kinda proves it wasn't a heat of the moment crime.
Also, if he has a personal diary, we could see if he admits to other crimes. You would need his password to find this information.
I think his testimony is legitimate. I heard his testimony right after the foot was found. He said that Magnotta was having a "bad hair day" He may have embellished it though, because I remember him saying that they were just friendly neighbors that didn't know each other that well. He said that he had mentioned to him that he played a murderer in that movie. I don't believe he said they were in one another's house. I thought he said it was outside. I never got the impression that this conversation was after the murder. It is known though that DK saw Magnotta after the murder. That is when he made the "bad hair day" statement.

Now that the monster is confined to a cage and will soon be extradited to Canada and put on trial for the murder of Jun/Justin Lin, today I am beginning to examine how and why Luka Rocco Magnotta was able to initially gain media attention and why, with no notable accomplishments, he continued to garner media attention.
When I linked to and viewed the 10 minute Naked News interview from 2007 I was perplexed. The Naked News is a well known website that in the past received over 6 million unique viewers per month, a feature story on such a site is something that anyone in the adult entertainment industry would yearn to achieve. How and why would Magnotta, who was not well known within the adult film industry or even viewed or generated a buzz which had him discussed as "someone to watch", garner this attention?
I'm beginning to research Magnotta's early media attention, including but not limited to mainstream media, GLBT media, adult industry-specific news and/or blog sites and local media. I hope to establish a clear timeline of Magnotta's earlier years so we can understand why he became someone who could walk into a major UK media outlet or major Toronto news organization and be deemed as someone they should care about.
I think it is important to note that I do not wish to focus on attention he received after he was publicly outed as the likely kitten killer, I think that coverage speaks for itself. However I DO find it important to include coverage of Magnotta after he was outed as the likely kitten killer that did not mention or refer to the crimes against animals (to me there is something very telling about those).
Regarding the media visibility related to Karla Homolka: We are well aware of the coverage Magnotta received in relation to this, I feel that it is important to understand WHY he his claims and/or speculation about a LM/KH relationship was taken seriously.
Magnotta's own writings, plagiarisms on his own blogs, etc should NOT be included in this project.
That being said, this is a big project which I hope will allow us to answer many still unanswered questions, I would be thrilled if anyone might be willing to assist with and/or collaborate with me on the development of this examination of Magnotta & the Media (The Early Appearances/Non-Kitten Killer Appearances).
Note to Mods: I would ask for your guidance on how this should move forward-- Might it merit its own thread? Should it be developed in the other facts only thread? Thanks, in advance, for your thoughtful feedback.

He can get Life with no parole for 25 years but then gets
evaluated for Parole every so often.

The main reason I am of the opinion that the majority of the trolls were not Luka is because so many people now know his M.O and it wouldn't be hard to 'fake' him for laughs. I really think there are some sick twisted people out there who were getting their kicks from the 'excitement' of the onine sleuths.

One thing I would like to point out is that we know LM knew about the Deep Web (Tor).
We know this because on many of his sock puppet account on the 15th May he was promoting the video before the murder even took place. In these he mentioned the video was floating around the Deep Web, obviously it wasn't because the murder hadn't even taken place but it shows he knew about it.
Also on the 21st December, under 1 of his alas's cutelittlenemo1 he posted a .onion address and asked what the best and quickest sedative was:

Also I have read in one of the interviews from the employee at the Internet Cafe where he was caught said that he was on a site for getting [fake] passports. I also read somewhere else he asked him if he could print one off (although I haven't seen confirmation myself about this). The Deep Web is notorious for things like this I believe, fake ID, fake passports etc.
I am willing to bet there is a wealth of information posted by him on the Deep Web that we don't know about. The troubleis finding that stuff, it's a dark place and the anonymity will make it very very hard finding anything.

All of the above are American criminals I am assuming? Here in Canada we have the 'dangerous offender" catagory which ensures those so labeled never see freedom again. Paul Bernardo is one, for example. I am betting, with the horrific details of this crime that Luka will also be labeled as such. I'm not a lawyer, but I just can't see how he can get off with that video as evidence, along with the blood splattered apartment. Kill shot or not, he is clearly implicated in the death of this young man.

The photobucket account I believe is not by Luka or anyone in favour of him, its by one of the groups who have been tracking him for 2 years since the kitten video's. They were gathering pictures of him to prove the kitten killer was him and posting them in that photobucket account.

LM has a proven record of being sloppy with leaving evidence behind so this tells me he left that apartment pretty quickly and didn't have any thought of hiding evidence.

No, NMK, it was a misunderstanding. It had something to do with the settings of the album. It got resolved...nothing was changed. Also, I believe the Photobucket account in question was actually one set up by the group FGJ to compile known pictures of him.

In these threads we've previously discussed that since the news of this crime broke, a plethora of worthless individuals began posting on various sites to create the illusion that they were Magnotta in a desperate attempt to be a part of a major global news story and/or garner their own 15 minutes.
In the "Look At Me! Look At Me!" or "Let's Make This About Me" environment that social media has fostered it is troubling when people essentially step over a body to make it all about themselves... Ahh, but Canada isn't the one that would be releasing him at midnight. Germany has him.
Anyway, I don't think it'll happen, and I really don't know how Germany treats situations like this. I just wanted to mention that sometimes the legalities actually allow a suspect to walk free while LE scrambles to find a way to get them back behind bars.

I was wondering the same thing as wangtangkiki...I'm having a hard time with this info. I agree his tears were probably for himself, though I'm not sure that it was about the jig being up soon. Shouldn't he have been riding a high? He was making his great escape! I struggle with him feeling sick to his stomach. There's no way this guy feels remorse. Right?!

LM tossed out the torso in his backyard, I'm thinking the ice pick he used was in that bag with the torso, his prints all over that bag too. Police I bet has other evidence we won't know until trial. LM has a proven record of being sloppy with leaving evidence behind so this tells me he left that apartment pretty quickly and didn't have any thought of hiding evidence.
While this is disturbing to mention, a key piece of evidence will potentially be Magnotta's DNA deposited in the victims body well after the medical examiner's established time of death.

Anyway, I don't think it'll happen, and I really don't know how Germany treats situations like this. I just wanted to mention that sometimes the legalities actually allow a suspect to walk free while LE scrambles to find a way to get them back behind bars.

Has anyone found anything that confirmed that Jun Lin knew Luka Magnotta before the day Luka murdered him? I know the police say they knew each other, but I really do think that Magnotta posted on craigslist or somewhere to get Jun Lin over to his house.
The main reason I am of the opinion that the majority of the trolls were not Luka is because so many people now know his M.O and it wouldn't be hard to 'fake' him for laughs. I noticed that as soon as suspicious YouTube aliases began being discussed in this forum and the other, the YouTube trolls swelled in number. I really think there are some sick twisted people out there who were getting their kicks from the 'excitement' of the onine sleuths.

The trolls may know of Luka's basic interests but I doubt they went to such great lengths to look up past Luka usernames, and add together his mother's name to create Anna Mansfield. Also Anna Mansfield is the only account we know that was only active during the time Luka was at that cafe, and it hasn't been active since.
Now that the monster is confined to a cage and will soon be extradited to Canada and put on trial for the murder of Jun/Justin Lin, today I am beginning to examine how and why Luka Rocco Magnotta was able to initially gain media attention and why, with no notable accomplishments, he continued to garner media attention.
When I linked to and viewed the 10 minute Naked News interview from 2007 I was perplexed. The Naked News is a well known website that in the past received over 6 million unique viewers per month, a feature story on such a site is something that anyone in the adult entertainment industry would yearn to achieve. How and why would Magnotta, who was not well known within the adult film industry or even viewed or generated a buzz which had him discussed as "someone to watch", garner this attention?
I'm beginning to research Magnotta's early media attention, including but not limited to mainstream media, GLBT media, adult industry-specific news and/or blog sites and local media. I hope to establish a clear timeline of Magnotta's earlier years so we can understand why he became someone who could walk into a major UK media outlet or major Toronto news organization and be deemed as someone they should care about.
I think it is important to note that I do not wish to focus on attention he received after he was publicly outed as the likely kitten killer, I think that coverage speaks for itself. However I DO find it important to include coverage of Magnotta after he was outed as the likely kitten killer that did not mention or refer to the crimes against animals (to me there is something very telling about those).
Regarding the media visibility related to Karla Homolka: We are well aware of the coverage Magnotta received in relation to this, I feel that it is important to understand WHY he his claims and/or speculation about a LM/KH relationship was taken seriously.
Magnotta's own writings, plagiarisms on his own blogs, etc should NOT be included in this project.
That being said, this is a big project which I hope will allow us to answer many still unanswered questions, I would be thrilled if anyone might be willing to assist with and/or collaborate with me on the development of this examination of Magnotta & the Media (The Early Appearances/Non-Kitten Killer Appearances).
Note to Mods: I would ask for your guidance on how this should move forward-- Might it merit its own thread? Should it be developed in the other facts only thread? Thanks, in advance, for your thoughtful feedback.
I like the idea, but I think it would be much more helpful if we could somehow follow the leads in the Hollywood case. I want to know if Luka was actually living in LA during January 1st through the 31st. He posted on FB in February that he was living there, but that's after the crime.

His trigger disrespect, perhaps his posting and people commenting back he knew they would disrespect him, and he needed that as part of his ritual to start. For any American legal minds out there... what would happen IF the hollywood murder that happened in January was eventually linked and proven to be one of his deeds. Would the U.S. go after him for this and how would it work in the judicial system for things happening here in Canada. I understand the most he can get here in Canada is 25 years BUT if he were also found to be the individual in the hollywood murder how would that play out and would he be sent to the U.S. to stand trial after 25 years????

No one will ever ask Jamie Lee Curtis (who starred in that less than successful 1980 film) about if she feels a film she was in 32 years ago that no one saw influenced Magnotta's actions, but the failed actor who appeared in the same film will almost literally step over a corpse to get to any and all cameras or reporters who might be covering this crime...

The interview I have seen with the employee at the cafe said (in German) that he was looking at a French site, youtube video's, a police site and a site to get passports (possibly fake ones).
He noticed these by going back and forth and taking a peek at his screen.

In your opinion, was the um, act simulated or do you think there is a good chance LM did leave his DNA inside the victim? It's just so sickening, but you bring up a good point.

From the interviews done with the employee in Berlin who caught him, they already know which sites he was visiting...apparently the YouTube channel he was watching, BTW, was one of the French police, which rules out any activity from the trolls being discussed being Luka. I too, don't see the need in taking the computer.

he was there over an hour, im sure the store clerk did not see every single site he visited. you can have multiple tabs open and be looking at a zillion things at once...

In the briefing going on right now, the police said they were waiting for 'biological evidence' that they now have. I am assuming DNA.
A hand, a foot and the head are still missing, according to police. No Indication they were mailed.

Time of death is always a variable ... and estimate, one of the most unreliable factors in a crime scene. There will probably be an 8-10 hour window of time when the murder could have occurred, so I highly doubt any conclusion can be drawn between time of death and DNA. However, since there is a video of abuse of the torso, I think that will prove that it happened.

to me it looked completly simulated,(warning graphic description!!) but he did use the hand to gratify himself with, they could have a pubic hair sample, or a dna sample on the hand.. he would have also showered after the murder(i assume, altho some reports are that he stunk on the plain) some human flesh was stuck in the drain, im sure this would have captured some hair..
edit: does anyone know how easy/hard it is to remove metadata from a video?

This article has some information I haven't heard before - well the interview does. Apparently, he visited a hardware store in France to try and 'buy a pair of pliars'. :what: I still want to know what happened to the guy who was with him in Paris. The interview also says that he was trying to print a new identity card in Berlin at the Internet Cafe where he was arrested. Finally, one of the most awesome, and most troubling, tidbits from the linked interview: French police received over 8000 phone tips while he was in Paris! GREAT JOB WORLD WIDE WEB!!!!! Good news: A LOT of people were tuned in enough to notice this guy!!!! :clap::clap: Bad news: 8000 people called to report a sighting of LM, who had his cell phone, and who used his credit card, and he managed to LEAVE Paris??? Why wasn't LE tuned in as well??? :waitasec: Good job to the German police who marched in and got him!

can you imagine being on that plane when they extradite him?
someone I'm close to is USAF and him and his boss had to transport a USAF officer who had been charged and convicted of sexually abusing his daughter from one state to another ....they had to go via commercial plane...the dude was cuffed at the hands and had a chain around his waste so that when he got into the car, they could cuff his ankles....but it was hidden from plain site. They were not in uniform, but civi clothes and were the first on and last off the plane. The airlines and crew new ahead of time as did Homeland Security. They also were escorted by US Marshals into the airport, on the plane, sitting on the plane then out of the airport. Nobody on the flight (other than crew) had a clue...at least not obviously had a clue.
I wonder if this is how it will be for when they had have to take him back to Canada.
Ive flown numerous times w/ celebrities sitting close to me....but makes me wander how many times Ive flown w/ that kind of group ^^.....

I suspect, in his delusions of grandiosity, he thinks he will get off. He didn't film the kill shot so he thinks they can't convict him of murder, (this is the logic of a brain who sits and googles his own name in an internet cafe while on the run from Interpol :tsktsk:).

Just watched the police news conference from Montreal. Here are some tidbits:
- police have "info", now their job is to proove it all
- not certain when he'll be back in Canada, no rush, lots of police work needs to be done, he's safely in prison so that's good
- paperwork is underway getting him extradited to Canada
- police have been in touch with the Best Gore site in Edmonton - police want Best Gore to help them make sure that the video doesn't spread any further (they seem to be saying they want the vid to be taken from the web)
- seemed to refuse to answer graphic questions (regarding body parts)
- I think more questions will be answered later on CBC Breaking (I had to feed my birds so I left the room)
