But tonight I realized I didn't get something "Moxie" was trying to tell me.
Here's a link to the updated version of the blog entry I wrote about Raven Abaroa's myspace.com site --
The Murder of Janet Abaroa... Raven's MySpace (updated 5/21)
Myspace distinguishes between your signup date, when you last updated your profile or site, and your last login.
1. Signup date for Raven -- 4/19/05. He made the account -- entered his e-mail, got a password, etc.
2. Last update for Raven -- 4/25/05. Again, the day before Janet's death; same day he created the blog, last time he updated the website. 4/25 was the last day he added to or changed anything at myspace.com, "updated" his information.
3. Last login for Raven -- 5/3/05. This means he only logged in. Likely to read a siblings journal. Had he updated anything that day, his "last update" would have been 5/3.
4. What this would appear to mean is that he did put his status as single prior to 4/26/05.

More myspace activity:
Regarding Raven's myspace buddies that were added, someone pointed out to me that the two new people listed LISA & ARTHUR were probably invited by Raven to become his friends. Which makes sense based on the fact that these folks probably didn't seek out Raven with his very minimal profile and no interests listed.
So, it just begs the question ... just when was Raven trolling around looking for people with similar interests to join his little *singles* club?

Info found by JerseyGirl
Phatry = Etymology: Greek phratria, from phratEr member of the same clan, member of a phratry —more at BROTHER
Date: 1833
1 : a kinship group forming a subdivision of a Greek phyle
2 : a tribal subdivision; specifically : an exogamous group typically comprising several totemic clans
If I'm not mistaken, this following information and table was on Raven's web site but I found it at this Web site - Early Menominees.
Ina’maqki’u wi’dishi’anun ---- Big Thunder phratry
Kine’u -----------------------------------Golden Eagle (principal clan)
Piwat’inot -------------------------------Beaver (former name Noma’i)
Shawan’nani --------------------------Fork-tail Hawk
Pinash’iu -------------------------------Bald Eagle
Pakesh’tsheke’u ---------------------Swift-flying Hawk
Pe’kike’kune ---------------------------Winter Hawk
Ke’shewa’toshe ----------------------Sparrow Hawk
Maq’kwoka’ni --------------------------Red-tail Hawk
Kaka’ke ---------------------------------Crow
Inaq’tek ---------------------------------Raven
Additionally I found the following:
In this system, each phratry was an excellent source of expertise and knowledge, in specific areas. Based on these areas of expertise each one performed a special duty. For instance:
Bear Phratry: speakers and keepers of the law.
Thunderer Phratry: freedom and justice.
Moose Phratry: community or individual security.
Crane Phratry: architecture, construction and art.
Wolf Phratry: hunting and gathering.

A reflection of his life that Janet is completely absent from?!?!?
If that's his mama, and the name does fit, I find that very disturbing.

Yes, she changes her name as well. Certainly sounds like her.. Raven seems to have had some kind of epiphany about his " goals" on April 25th, doesn't he? I bet his family was so proud...

Would a mama defend her son's actions, even if it was murder.....probably! Would a mama help her son embezzle by packing and shipping all the ebay stuff.....hmmmmm........maybe........as a mother, would you?
We really don't know much about his family, do we?

No, I've been all in favor of not sleuthing out the family, but if there is a connection that has been proven between Raven's illegal activities and a family member, the gloves come off.

Hmmm....maybe. Well there goes my idea that maybe she was fired from her jobs :) Of course, maybe they weren't on welfare the whole time. Raven stated in his blog something about they had tons of money and then they were on assistance. Where would the tons of money come from? Embezzlement? Could this run in the family? Where Raven learned it? THIS IS PURE speculation and we maybe grasping at straws, but maybe worth looking into?

Something about being on welfare--I've never been on welfare, per se, but have received section 8 housing assistance, and foodstamps and medicaid, when I was a recently divorced mom with two kids aged 8 and 4.
Moving from place to place is a real hassle. You have to reapply for everything, and every time you go in to the office for an interview, they want you to bring some other piece of verification of this, that, and the other.
Trust me, it would behoove the "welfare mom" to stay put!

And not keep changing everyone's name?
And not keep changing everyone's name?
There are enough hassles to go through without that.
Of course, if she were reapplying rather than trying to continue aid already established, that might fly; but you have to produce Social Security #'s, etc, every time.

Does anyone know if Raven ever used any of the various Instant Messaging services, i.e., AOL, MSN, Earthlink, etc.? I know he has posted contact info on his blog as " futbalrguy (MSN) "
It would certainly be an easy way to chat with others: friends, co-workers, family, accomplices, whomever...
And frankly, given his proclivity for handhelds, he certainly could STILL be using instant messaging to communicate, etc.
And if I'm not mistaken, don't we have info that Janet was "messaging" with someone that evening?
It might be worth digging into this IM world and see if we can dig up anything....

Can someone who has MSN or MSN Instant Messaging check out the screenname / user name:
ravenabaroa (all one word)
SOMEONE using this screenname has been logging onto the Instant Messenger services, via a "mobile device." Further, if you are at all familiar with these services, one feature some offer is the ability to associate a "buddy icon" with your screenname. For example, if I were a huge NY Yankees fan (NOT!), I might have chosen to use a Yankess logo as my icon. The icon would be visible to those with whom you are chatting, and to people with access to your particular service, ie., AOL, MSN, whatever, in their online directories.
Stay with me here... lol
SO, this "ravenabaroa," which presumably is THE Raven Abaroa we reference here, but, I suppose COULD be someone else... well, this person does indeed have a "buddy icon" associated with his screenname...and the icon is? Soccer balls! Coincidence? Doubtful I think...
I know there are various services, AOL, MSN, Earthlink, etc., BUT, unless I'm wrong, I THINK they all link together with certain capabilities anyway. For example, if I was used AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) and someone else used MSN Instant Messenger, we would both show up on one another's list of "buddies" (assuming we knew each other's screenname, and had added one another to our "buddylist").....
Now, all of that said (and I hope it was at least kind of clear??), my GUESS would be that Raven uses MSN, at least MSN messenger, as evidenced by his contact information on his blog, "futbalrguy (MSN)"
Thus, if someone has membership access to MSN, doing some searching on their online directory, messenger service, etc., would be helpful.
It might also be helpful in doing those searches to seach for Janet's name as well. We've HEARD that she was "messenging" that evening. Does this mean via IM? Who knows. Is it possible that Raven was "messenging" that evening as well? Who knows. As someone suggested to me as well, with someone with so many aliases, user names, etc., it might very well be helpful to search on them ALL (painful and tireless, I know...).... I'm plugging away at it myself.
But, we DO know that Raven loves his handheld/PDA, whatever you want to call it. And NOW we know, that he has the ability to connect to the internet with his handheld (mobile device)....
And, one last thing - once again it just RESONATES with me:
WHY DID LE NOT TAKE HIS PDA, JUST THE CHARGER???? (ok, so maybe it wasn't there, or whatever. BUT, hello, two + two here, if there's a CHARGER, then it stands to reason that there MUST be a PDA!!

It is such a "duh!" I can hardly believe the LE would not figure this out...I mean the detective has 18 years of experience (according to the warrant). I still go back to my question about whether there is more than two warrants out there.....what about searching the other vehicles and ceasing the computers. Maybe they did that in another warrant??
cappuccina
06-05-2005, 10:16 PM
...indeed, one wonders why there is no PDA, laptop, and/or desktop on the warrant, or why LE didn't detain "The Rave" for failing to produce, or hiding or destroying these items, which they could have almost immediately after asking him for them/putting them on the WARRANT...
...can you say "detaining someone for impeding an active homicide investigation", boys and girls?

I can say it! I can say it! When they ran Raven's name in the computer, wouldn't his arrest for embezzlement come up? That, I think, would at least give LE the info that there may just be more to this murder than a burglary that went bad or suicide (or whatever Raven told them at the scene).

I'm not one to complain for those who choose to part with their vehicles as I am selling my 99 as well. However, you need to do your homework before you start assuming that the VX is incapable.
First, as RT mentioned Tone has a custom hitch that fits really nicely in the VX. You can probably pay someone $60 to install it or you can follow Tone's very detailed instructions.... I believe Tone rated the hitch at 5k lbs.
Secondly, for $3.00 you can buy the little round mirror add-ons from Autozone to give you great vision and for an addition $10 you can get Van-Eyes to add to the rear window... Moncha has pics of this at his website.
Finally, spend $500 and get yourself a rear camera and monitor and have perfect VISION!!!!
Dude, I was in your shoes a dozen times thinking of reasons I made a bad choice. I bought my 99 brand new and a year later was thinking... Damn, I could have gotten a 4 door grand cherokee for the same price I paid for my VX.... Five years later I am now so glad I didn't get rid of the VX or go with a "traditional SUV".... Then again, I like being different.
ANYWAY... If you wanna sell, I'm sure someone out there wants to buy, but don't give the VX a bad wrap by saying it can't do what you want it to, cause it can, you just have to take the time to make it happen!

Apparently, Superbuddies are available to AIM users for a fee but if I'm not mistaken, you can get them as an AOL user for free. So Raven could either be an AOL subscriber or just an AIM user. I'm thinking he's NOT on AOL but just using the AOL Instant Messaging software to communicate with friends and family on different servers.
Using AIM on Windows (http://www.aim.com/help_faq/using/win/expressions_tech.adp?aolp=#four)
Q: How do I change my AIM SuperBuddy icon?
A: You can find SuperBuddy icons by clicking Change Buddy Icon on the My Expressions page.
Unlike most AIM Expressions, SuperBuddy icons are not available by subscription. You can buy them individually for $1.95 or by three in a row for $4.95. Back to Top (http://www.aim.com/help_faq/using/win/expressions_tech.adp?aolp=#top)
Q: I can see my SuperBuddy icon moving and reacting to my typed messages, but my buddy cannot. Why?
A: Your buddy may be using an older version of AOL Instant Messenger software. Only the newest version of AOL Instant Messenger allow the full fun of SuperBuddy icons. Your buddy can download and upgrade to the newest version of AIM by visiting http://www.aim.com (http://www.aim.com/). Back to Top (http://www.aim.com/help_faq/using/win/expressions_tech.adp?aolp=#top)
Q: How do I control what I see and what others see when using AIM Expressions and SuperBuddy icons? How do I control Expressions sounds? How can I turn off AIM Expressions?
A: The new AOL Instant Messenger software offers control over the way AIM Expressions are shown to you and to others. In the newest AIM, click the Setup icon in the lower right corner of the software, then click Expressions to see the controls. Back to Top (http://www.aim.com/help_faq/using/win/expressions_tech.adp?aolp=#top)
Q: Can I get AIM Expressions with a Macintosh computer?
A: AIM Expressions are available only to users of the newest AIM for Windows software. Back to Top (http://www.aim.com/help_faq/using/win/expressions_tech.adp?aolp=#top)
************************************************** *********
(I don't know when the newest edition was released but he's obviously either signed up just recently or he kept his AIM software updated; he couldn't use the Superbuddy otherwise. (It also means that he's definitely using Windows, (not that that matters at all)). I wonder if it's possible to find out when someone first got AIM.)

I'm trying to find ways to check out AIM users and came across this site that helps users to find more ways to make the most out of their AIM experience. Since it contains the words "dude", "stupidity", and "find love", I thought I'd share it with you. :) If nothing else, perhaps we can somehow find a way to determine with certainty if he's using AOL or AIM:

He tries to focus in on the clock on the stove (as he has just, rhetorically, "and what time did we get up this Christmas morning Janet?")...she replies 11:00am, as we tries to focus in on the clock. I know that the throw backs were very popular for a while - they were the older styled jerseys of various teams. They were also VERY expensive if you got an authentic one, (although I'm sure that knock-offs were available somewhere - I've never seen any but knock-offs always seem to be around somewhere).
IMO, I didn't see anything strange or selfish about Raven mentioning his presents in the video. It seemed like a typical "Here it is, Christmas morning, and these are the presents I got - aren't they great?" If anything, I thought of it almost like a video "thank you" card - like - I'm so happy with my gifts; look at this cool stuff my wife got me. YEs, that is exactly what he called it, a throwback jersey.
Oh, I wasn't really implying anything about him having made the video. I just had never seen it before. I you're absolutely right, Lord knows, we have gazillions of pictures over the years with every relative in the world holding up this gift and that gift... LOL
The ONLY two things that really struck me about the video, and this is just observations, but, they weren't ones to exchange inexpensive gifts I don't think. I mean boxers from REI are anywhere from $18-25 a pop! Not the end of the world maybe to some, but still, not your average 3 pack of Hanes or Fruit of the Loom either! LOL
And secondly, granted they apparantly had just gotten up, but Janet doesn't particularly thrilled in the video. He asks if she's having a good C'mas or something to that effect, and still looking at the scrambled eggs, she says in a sort of monotone, "sure." No big deal. Just an observation on my part....

Jerseygirl, one of the things that bugs me in that particular video is the statement about how he bought the knife as a Christmas gift for himself. It just bugs me because Christmas is about giving to others, not yourself.I agree but at the same time, my husband and I often joke about buying something for ourselves at gift-giving times. In fact, he once jokingly put a DVD of Tomb Raider in my stocking, and when I looked at it kind of sideways, he said "Well, since you don't like it, do you mind if I keep it?" So I got back at him for his birthday by giving him a new toaster oven, (among other things that he really DID want).

Yeah, I was curious once about it once you posted that site that sold them. $300 for a jersey? It better have some kind of gold thread running through it for that price.
Anyway, I was looking around and I couldn't find a picture like it. Are some throwback jerseys limited editions? Since he seem to have a flare for those types of things.

I'm guessing he bought a new 1999 VX in the year 2000 (the year he was married, correct?). Most auto loans are 5 years, meaning the VX would have been paid off sometime in 2005.

Thanks for ALL THE GREAT REPLY's
I can't thank you all enough for the pic's, details, etc. I have always heard that the VX Owners are like family. Although I have been riding my VX for 3 years, I have not taken the time to become part of the family and meet many of you at future Isuzu outings...(ramblings about parts here)...LAST NOTE: I live in NC and would love to follow someone wheelin' sometime. I have taken a jeep and truck through pretty narly trails, and have taken the Isuzu on small little test runs (like bouldering, for any rockclimbers out there). I can learn fast! IN ADDITION TO THAT< I will soon be moving to Utah> I hope to interact with you VX lovers in Moab or something. My wife and I are looking forward to all the fun.

I DID IT THANK YOU SO MUCH, EVERYONE, FOR THE GREAT FEEDBACK
Dude, I just picked up the VX. I don't have my camera with me (wife took it out of town) and so I Can't show you, but man it looks good. So, I have the O.M.E 912's, RS9000 shocks, and BFGoodRich 285/75R/16 A/T. I went with the All Terrains because of the high-miles I put on it in the city and travelign to fun places....
The shocks are so sweet. I feel like I am hovering, not driving.... I did have to shave a tiny corner inside the wheel well of the front, but that was it. I will post pictures soon.
Thanks everyone. I still have a lot of work to do, I can only wihs I would have done this years ago!!! My VX IS ALIVE AGAIN!!!! __________________

As a new member to the site... I ahve to say Ed, I would also like this on DVD or Window's Media. I would pay. This is an amazing video and really shed's light to the history of the VX. I have heard from many people on the site what the VX is and have also heard from the Isuzu sales guy when I saw it in a 1997 car show, but to have this factual, documented, and entertaining video gives me goose-bumps, their talking about my VX... that is awesome!!!
I am part of something unique, we are part of a one of a kind vehicle. After 6 years this vehicle is still not matched in its futuristic and functional use!!!! And with the knowledge, ideas, and solutions that have been created and shared by the users of this site, the VX will continue to be #1... Funny thing, I almost sold it cause I thought I made a bad purchase decision....!!!! __________________

More then 84,000 miles? Alright, who's got the record miles here? I've used my VX for an everyday vehicle, although I have 3 others, since 2000... I bought a brand new 99 VX with only 1,000 miles on it a year old, so since sep of 2000 I have put 83,000 miles on it and it runs great. I am thinking of getting a new engine, full block in the next 25,000 miles or when it dies... from other threads I have already realized I need to save up my money cause this VX will be in my family for the rest of my life, and as its life ends, I will build another (pay someone to do it of course) for it!!! 9 lives baby!!!
Anyway, anyone clocked more miles then that? If I drive to the Moab meet, thats 5,000 round trip .... and I have made the trip to utah in 29 hours both times in December.... so it rocks cross country, minus the 10-13 mpg it gets __________________

Thanks Jen! I was just hoping to get an idea what it looked like and price. :bang:BTW, throwback jerseys can also be custom-made. So if you can't find something similar online, it could be that it was custom-made to represent a favorite player of Raven's that wasn't available.
ETA: If that was an authentic throw-back (are they also called replica jerseys?), $300 is right. More if it's custom.

Billy, I'm saying the same thing as the others... However, someone who hasn't done their homework might think they are getting a great buy.
You may owe some on it and are hoping to get that back, but unfortunatly for all of us that got loans for the full value when buying new really didn't come out being able to sell. I was in your position until I found this site.... Decided I wanted to keep it and live with what I got!!! I fell in love with my VX after that!
Anyway, best of luck

North CarolinaI'm not sure I'm getting it. Is he asking if his VX is going to make the trip or is he trying to find out if he's racked up the most miles? Is there some kind of pride in that? ETA: Is this an example of Raven's alleged tendency to "one-up" people?

Playboy? Maybe, the short wasn't anything sexy, just realistic... Too cool how the facial features look so natural and the texture of the skin so real...
HOWEVER, I clicked on this thread from the main page and thought is was a 3D rendering of the VX....bummer!

So, I'm in Chicago next week for business, flying in Sunday and then staying through Wednesday afternoon.... Sounds fun, will enjoy the site seeing... Then I am turning around and driving to Indiana from North Carolina! I am crazy!!!!
I am leaving Thursday morning to arrive in Attica Thursday night I guess. Is anyone planning on being up there sooner or camping or anything? Just wondering cause my wife and I and my dog will probably be there (not sure about the wife, but for sure me and the dog!)
I need to read our 6 pages of thread to figure out the details again, I am getting excited!

4wheelparts.com.. grrrrrrrr
Ya'All, Don't know if I will be making it. I just got back from Chicago and my wife is giving me a hard time about leaving since we are moving next week!!!! Women!
If I don't make it, I will soon connect with some VX crew. I am feeling quite lonely out here in NC.
I wanted to say afew things about the quote that 4wheelparts is the best 4 wheel place. I know that there is one in Charlotte, NC and this is what I have to say.... I spent $2k on parts for my jeep, from springs, to seats, liner, push bars, pitman arms, steering columns, etc... All the accessories get in and I take the jeep in to have it all installed (because I don't have a garage to do it myself) and the freakin company calls me and said they can't cause the jeep has a spring over and they don't work on spring over lifts.... Holy Cow, it was their staff that came out, surveyed my car, recommended the correct solutions, and **** like that... And then they say they can't install any of it!!! PLuS, PLUS, PLUS, they recommended I sell the VX instead of mod it and spend the money I woud have spent lifing the VX and shiz to fix up my jeep!!!! F$*#&$'s
Just a few days!!!

not that this has anything to do with the price of eggs...but raven's language aobut being part of something unique sounds a lot like the lingo they use at Southern Virginia Univ. I mean, that's what the whole school is about. The first students there (in '96-99ish) were called pioneers because they were doing

The line that he's getting pressure from friends AND family just jumped out at me. I wonder who these friends and family members are that were pressuring him about his priorities, and what effect that would have over time. I wonder if he got better about prioritizing, if those pressuring him just let up at some point, or if he was being pressured from several different angles all the way up until the awful day of Janet's murder.

That's a very scary thought, ya know, its aleather couch from Ikea under there? Doesn't that qualify me for something other then a redneck?
I moved from California (15 years) to Utah (3 years) to Virginia (3 years) to NC (currently)... I still think I have Cali in me, but my friends from back home say I sound like I am from the south, but people from the south say I sound like I am from Cali... Since it was a tie, maybe this damn couch on the car is the proof that I did become a redneck. .. Holy Crap, I actually watched the NASCAR race (last 45 laps) over last weekend too.... Thanks for the bump... Yeah, the bikes got low miles and only ridden a few months out of year. I just need to unload it so thats why the low price...
As for the R1... I like the R1. They had an 03 model at the dealership brand new for 8k. I considered jumping on it but my next bike has to be a cruiser because OC Choppers got me interested and I've driven a few and I love the ride... I've got my eye on a sup'd up, stripped down Yamaha Roadstar Warrior. The thing rumbles like a harley and has the computer chip of an R1, which makes for a hellishly fast cruiser!
I'm sorry, but wasn't this guy unemployed, facing financial troubles and criminal activity? Why is he spending time going to car shows and looking at a Chopper???

Simple: ego and narcissism
Remember, "The Rave" ahd been on those boards a long time. These were his buddies, as far as the Big Boy Toys of vehicles, etc. Sure, at one point he references losing his job. But obviously he doesn't tell them WHY. He has established an "online IMAGE" with these folks... one he doesn't want to sully. And keeping up the pretense, "I've got my eye on a sup'd up, stripped down Yamaha Roadstar Warrior" is surely part of that egocentric game. When, IMO, what he SHOULD have been focused on, was not his online life, but instead, bringing home a paycheck!

FWIW, while doing a search just now, 25 year-old Raven S. Abaroa has independent addresses in the following cities/towns in Virginia:
Arlington
Buena Vista
Fairfax
Fredericksburg
ViennaHow long did Raven live in Virginia, and was it a back and forth thing? Five towns sounds like a lot of moving around but I guess it would depend on how long he lived there.

Another question would be did he have a different job everytime he moved? IF so, that would be a lot of job hopping. Did he quit the jobs? Resign? Fired? Was he just building his resume? Did he owe the companies any money when he left? Just trying to speculate.....We have been told he owes Newkid's husband's company $50.00 :)

Five towns sounds like a lot of moving around but I guess it would depend on how long he lived there.I think when you're living in rentals and don't have kids or tons of stuff, it's easier to move. When I was first married we moved quite a few times for school and different jobs, all within the state. Also I know sometimes addresses can show up that aren't residences but maybe locations where credit card bills were sent for work.
edited to add: or maybe where credit card bills were sent that he was trying to hide from his wife

I don't read too much into his moving around alot - when I was in my early 20's, I moved every six months or so because apartment complexes were always offering sweet deals to sign a six month lease, so I'd just hop from deal to deal.
Of course, I'm a ferocious bargain hunter - he doesn't strike me that way, but who knows?

Help Please- Cylinder misfire and Timing Belt
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, I've been off the website for a few months now, only checking back a couple times here and there. My wife and I had our first child. You can check out pictures here.
Second and most important. I took my car into a repair place Monday for an oil change, tire rotation, and new Timing Belt. Looks like a half day's of labor turned into a three day project. Seems that the Water Pump they wanted to add was the wrong one, then the Timing belt wasn't "Timing" right and they couldn't figure it out. Then it looks like the gasget cracked and oil was leaking, then the timing was still off... Finally on Thursday afternoon I pick up my car. They only charged me for three hours of labor even though it took them forever.
I get my car and drive off into the sunset. Well, when I start her up she doesn't seem to be reving up right, the idle is in between 0-1,000 RPM's and just doesn't sound right (hell, I have a PV muffler if you wanted to know). I head onto the onramp of the freeway and it spudders a little bit as I floor it and the CHECK ENGINE light blinks rapidly twice or three times and then stays on. I take the VX back to the repair shop and they said that the computer code is "Cylinder 5 Misfire" and the code was reading this when I came in. I just drove the thing 700 miles this weekend for thanksgiving and the light did come on once and I figured it was for the timing belt or the maintenance. Anyway, my car doesn't feel right, I'm afraid I've got some engine failure going on and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me.
I feel kinda cheated here causee I expect to get my car back better then when I brought it in since I paid $450 for them to do all that stuff. What do you recommend?
Thx

I took my car into a repair place Monday for an oil change, tire rotation, and new Timing Belt...I really hope that he meant "most important" in regards to the nature of the boards because it doesn't sound good when you talk about your first child, and then say "most important, I took my car into a repair place ..." Oh Raven, why don't you think before you type??? :slap:

After reading his posts, I really don't think that he's saying "most importantly, above my new baby, I got my car worked on." I think he's probably using that lingo because he was on a VX board...and that's what they talk about on that site. If he had posted on a "New Fathers Site" I would hope that he'd say "I have a VX that just got some work on it but most importantly, I have a new son named Kaiden." Trust me, I'm not trying to stick up for him, but Jersey Girl is right when she says he should think before he types. I think this is the case. He's been quoted in other posts as saying how much Kaiden meant to him (not that he may have shown it in the best ways...but)...

This is from weeks ago...a find from someone where Raven had joined and posted to some board regarding IT testing/exams, etc.
But, if you notice, he registered for this site on April 4, 2005 (last post on April 19, 2005)... and I always thought it was strange that he listed his hometown as San Diego, CA.
Just a random thought...
(Can you tell I'm doing some serious digging into OLD "stuff" we've accumulated?? LOL)

LOL SES! It's good you're going through the old stuff though. I've found things looking backwards with a fresh set of eyes from new information.
I did notice the San Diego thingy. But, I think that he corrected it. It asks your home town and I think he responded to where he was originally from. In a little later post I noticed he had it changed to NC. I don't think he was doing anything stealthy here, just typed in where he was born and then realized that it should probably be where he lives.

All we have to do is go to Raventree.com and see that an entire block is devoted to "My VX". That VX could have been the cause of many, many problems in Raven's life, which we all know what problems those are! If that's the case, I hope it was the most important thing.

I went to check on something at ravenstree.com this morning, and it seems that the site is no longer up and running.
Pocketpcguy.com no longer works either, but, the domain appears to have expired on that one..
The domain on ravenstree.com does not expire until 2011 if I remember correctly from Mr. A's WHOIS post.
So whatever reason - someone took the site down, there's a techinical difficulty, something.... the site is not active (or was not about 15 minutes ago, today).

I just tried it too but to no avail.
YOu know a thought just occurred to me. What if all of our emailing tactics are working and Raven or his family were getting asked by the media if they, the media, could use pics or info from Raven's site? Perhaps Raven decided to shut it down instead of having the media (or us) pouring over his site.
Interesting...

anneshirley, what I found extremely interesting is that I can still see the thumbnails of most of the photos still EXCEPT the ones of Janet! I am very thankful I saved those!

Wow. Really? I can't get to any part of the site. What I don't understand is why they (Raven? her family? his family?) are trying to hide her from the media. I mean, I knew that it didn't make sense before, but now it really doesn't mesh.
OK...now, here's a random theory and I will completely profess to acting my hair color with this one....but is it possible that the emailing tactics DID work and that a major news story will break with say CNN or FOXNews...people magazine perhaps and they, the news station, bought the rights to the photos? I don't know...it's a huge stretch, I know...but there's always wishful thinking, right?

I was able to get in through cache, but I was told it was a fluke deal that I can't see the thumbnails of Janet's pictures.
I wonder too though the timing of Raven taking down the site. Does he not want to make it easy for the media to have access to photos of Janet?

Or, maybe they just dont want the whole world pouring over every word that was typed, or every photo that was posted.
Put yourself in their shoes for a minute. What would strangers think about you, if all they had to go on was things you have posted online?

I think you certainly make a valid point. But perhaps GM is right. The removal of the pics and website does seem to coincide with a massive emailing tactic by the WS.

Yes, I can see many different possibilities. There is also the possibility of someone trying to actually find the family in real life, or contacting them via email, telephone etc. Anyone can access these boards, and not everyone does so with the same motivation.

Another explanation could be, if the site really was intended to keep his family up-to-date on Kaiden, maybe he no longer needs it, if he plans to move closer to them.

Perhaps, but that's indeed a consequence of posting all sorts of personal information in the first place I think....whether on a personal website/page, on message boards, wherever. Raven appears to be at least somewhat computer literate, savvy, and accordingly, he must know/have known that starting a website, a web blog, etc., puts whatever he says/writes, "out there" for any and all to see, judge, analyze, etc.
And keep in mind, there is documented evidence of Raven's "online life," if you will, AFTER Janet's murder. Further, even the initial media reports referenced his ravenstree.com website. That said, it would have seemed if he were indeed disturbed by the attention, why wasn't the site taken down then, at the end of April? Who knows. Maybe the heat in the kitchen, is indeed, getting too hot....

Again, that could well be why. Im just thinking of all reasons. I know if people started accessing my personal site, then trying to disect every word spoken on it, I would remove it. Especially if I discovered people were saving pics of my family to thewir computers. If I noticed a site that had previously been accessed only a few times a day by family and friends suddenly started getting hundreds of hits a day by complete strangers, I think I would be a little upset and pull my site.

I would think he'd need to clear up the embezzlement charges before he could move closer to his family.
Does anyone know how that works? Is he free to just take off at will even with felony embezzlement charges hanging over his head?

As long as he shows up when he is supposed to, unless he is out on bail. If he is out on bail, he would need the court's permission to leave the area. Otherwise, he is free to come and go as he so chooses.

Well, we do know that he was arrested for the crime of embezzling (taken out of ES in handcuffs) so I would think that he's out on bail. Maybe LE doesn't have a problem with him going to the west coast.

I have no idea, legally, how that might work. But, it would seem odd, that until at least the embezzlement case is completely resolved, that he could move across the country. That said, apparantly he IS already living in Virginia. So, perhaps WHERE he lives would not matter, with regard to the embezzlement charges, so long as he made himself available for any and all court appearances that might be involved?? Purely speculative on my part.
In that same vein, IF he was considering a move out west...how that fact/information would impact the on-going murder investigation, if at all... Even IF Raven is considered a POI by LE, I suppose that unless they actually charged him, then he's free to come and go as he pleases, wherever??

Yes, the docket for the court hearing last Friday included the notation "WPA," designating per the Clerk's office, "written promise to appear." That said, obviously he did NOT appear last Friday. But, perhaps that's a blanket statement concerning the embezzlement charges - that anytime he would HAVE to appear, he's already agreed, per the "WPA." Just guessing on that really...

He may not be formally *living* in Virginia, but told LE that he was staying there temporarily. So he may have had permission considering the circumstances.
If he's planning on moving to Utah, I wonder if LE would be o.k. with him leaving the east coast? And if he's leaving the east coast I wonder if he has any interest in ensuring that there is JUSTICE for Janet!

Thanks SES, I thought I had read that somewhere. IMO the embezzlement charges arent serious enough to warrant bail etc. They obviously dont consider him a "flight risk", and if not for Janets murder, we would have never even heard about the embezzlement. Embezzlement is not a violent crime, and since (as far as we know) there is no criminal history, I would expect the courts to release him on his word.

From SES post:
- $1 WPA is just an internal note that designated no actual bond was paid. The WPA stands for "written promise to appear."

I'm going to give Raven the benefit of the doubt on this one. Maybe he IS just tired of people poking around. I'm also thinking that maybe he's in the process of revamping the site to make something for Janet. Maybe some sort of tribute or a plea for help in finding her killer. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

And I'm going to play devil's advocate here. Raven has shown absolutely no inclination to assist LE in finding his wife's killer. He's missed valuable time and opportunties here in regards to the website and I think he is just pulling it down to try to minimize the damage that has already been done to his reputation.
The only reason for Raven not to find Justice for Janet is to protect the killer. Just who is Raven protecting by not cooperating! From what we've heard refusing to take a polygraph! I know his family is on the other side of the country, but if he is leaving soon to move there it tells me one thing ... that he specifically doesn't want his wife's murderer found and that he wants to be as far away from this investigation as possible.

You might be right, gm, but how do we know that Raven hasn't helped LE? Is it possible that he's working with them behind the scenes? Might he be providing valuable info about which we have no way of knowing? Is there a chance that LE would ASK him to take down the site, I wonder?

I wonder too and I'm tired of shaking my magic 8 ball. But if he was indeed helping LE and wanted to find his wife's murderer you would think that there would be ONE public appeal in the media for help in the investigation.
You would think he'd leave no stone unturned! You would think he'd have a website memorial or a website plea for assistance in finding his wife's murderer! Unless he was protecting someone, who Kaiden? I don't think so ... I believe that he is motivated to protect only one person here ... himself.
