Both the rockhopper and p.3 are special mountain bikes. I'd never heard of them before either and had to pull out the magical google powers. LOL
I tried to look up price info on the buck knife and bear claw knife, but prices are all over the place depending on quality. One thing I know for sure tho, Raven wasn't the kind of guy to go to The Wal-Mart to pick them up.

The Ducati today would go for around $14,000 I believe. They are not cheap bikes!!!!

That is a shame. But I gotta say, there have been quite a few crimes coming out of North Carolina and making national news over the last couple of weeks. Maybe its a case where they're having to be ultra-selective on what's being reported, because there are so many right now.
I dunno . . . just a guess.

Good grief, the man didn't just RIDE his motorcycle, he MELDED with it. Look at the list of that clothing. I am ONE with my Ducatti.
I saw him doing the same thing with Kaiden in the photos. The expressions are absolutely mimicked.
I wonder if he sees humans as his possessions?

My kids ride dirtbikes so I knew the gear can really get expensive. But, when I buy the stuff I'm looking at protecting my kids so to me it's a good investment. When I see a $200 helmet cracked I sigh in relief ... that would have been my son or daughters' skull. So in other words, it's not how cool the stuff looks, it's how well it protects them.
When my husband and I were in our 20's we both rode street & dirt. We put the sport aside for many years to find more family friendly and less costly pursuits. As the kids got older ... my husband wanted to share his love for motorcycles with them ... sigh ...

Wasn't Raven charged in February? This could have been a way for him to pay back at least part of the $9,000.00 he took.

Our timeline has him charged in February. I know he had his VX up for sale locally, but I wonder how hard he really tried to sell his *toys*. Although 6,500 for the motorcycle and gear is a pretty attractive price. He was taking an absolute bath.

I had a couple of thoughts about that ... Keep in mind that the Jeep was listed as Ravens as well.
He mentioned on the board that he specifically wanted TWO VX's. One for off-road and one for everyday driving. He may have hung on to the white VX for awhile hoping to be able to keep both.
or
He had some old pictures of the white VX that he uploaded to share with his buddies.
Edited to add: I have been told that he drove the BLACK VX to the funeral.

..........You may owe some on it and are hoping to get that back, but unfortunatly for all of us that got loans for the full value when buying new really didn't come out being able to sell. I was in your position until I found this site.... Decided I wanted to keep it and live with what I got!!! I fell in love with my VX after that!

I'm not one to complain for those who choose to part with their vehicles as I am selling my 99 as well.
...............
Dude, I was in your shoes a dozen times thinking of reasons I made a bad choice. I bought my 99 brand new and a year later was thinking... Damn, I could have gotten a 4 door grand cherokee for the same price I paid for my VX.... Five years later I am now so glad I didn't get rid of the VX or go with a "traditional SUV".... Then again, I like being different.

I don't think Raven was serious about selling his VX. He parked it basically in the middle of nowhere with a for sale sign on it. He belonged to this club of enthusiast for this particular vehicle. He posted that he considered selling it, but that Janet now agreed with him that they had too much into it and it wasn't a good idea to sell.
This board is a very active community that gets together regularly for meets. Raven is the proud owner of the holy-grail limited edition for these folks. People regularly post that they want a VX and are having a hard time acquiring one. So, Raven posts that his motorcyle is for sale, but I can't find one posting saying his truck was for sale.
Why did he have his truck for sale on the corner instead of using the club members that would have actually put him in touch with serious buyers? I think it was strictly for show, and he had no intention of really selling.

I fall into the Jobless statistics that CNN reads out these days. SHIZZZ.
I'm looking hard, but its really difficult to start over.
So, I am asking $13,000 O.B.O for my pride and joy.
This 1999 VX has just under 110,000 miles, had the timing belt recently replaced, has regular oil and tire rotations and has been carefully cared for wiht no mud slinging, just rock climbing and enjoying some fun West Virginia Dirt roads!
The body is in perfect shape with a custom very nice Black paint job. I recently installed the Cobra CB radio with Firewire Antenna, but I haven't hard wired it to the car yet (cause I don't know how). I also have run the wires for the trunk popper, but again, not wired.
What the VX has is tinting around all windows, clearcorners on turn signals, PIAA Fog Lights and Horn lights with Bright white bulbs on headlights. I feature the custom VX decal and mostly debadged body. The inside has the Extended seat for passanger and trunk box in the rear. I also have the Subwoofer Spare tire mount, but no aftermarket system or speakers installed.
Underneath this bad boy is a PV2 Muffler, OEM 912 springs, RS9000 shocks and a heafty 33in tires. The latest add on was the beefy STINKYFAB links that are painted Red.

Thanks for the warm wishes. At the ripe old age of 25 I am learning to grow up. I guess a child and some bad turns does that for you! All in all, my wife and I are loving life and things are really looking up. Just the other day I got a job offer. While its not in the range I was hoping to make, I think I am going to take it because it is something I love to do and I ahve the potential of earning more money in the short term if I am successful.
My wife is working full time too. Its been h ard on her being away from our little guy all day, but we have a wonderful friend who is watching him and we are spending 100% of our time with hime when we aren't at work!
I may not sell the VX after all!!!

Thanks for the words of wisdom RT. You are right on with what it takes to get the job and I've been practicing those models.
I am now working for an IT training company out of Raleigh, however I am not making near what I need to survive. I am still steadily interviewing for some higher paying jobs and one job I am in as a finalist.
I've decided that parting with the VX is going to be what I need to do. I am going to go to the complete lowest I can go to hopefully sell within 30 days as I am a few payments behind as of today and don't think I can catch up in my current state.
With that said, I am willing to part with this guy for an unbelievably low price of:
11,900.00
This includes all accessories and a VX that is truly unique! Anyone interested feel free to call at 919-593-4535

So, at one point I was on the lower half of that pole. I started off loving every minute of it. I bought a S2000, and my Ducati and decided I wanted a Jeep instead. I hadn't listed the VX ever, but I started making (yes, I had to force her, she hated it from day 1, but it eventually grew on her and she was mad when I took it back) my wife drive it around since I traveled for work a lot. I dind't much care for the goofiness of the vehicle, like not having a trunk popper, hard to access rear seats, horrible rear view, sucky mileage.... I was looking at unloading it and realized I would have to take a sizeable loss to do that. I was STUCK with this freakin car..... BOOOM, one day I found this website. I only looked through it for about 30 minutes, mostly to see what "bad" stuff I could find about the car to add to my frustration with the huge loss I would take.
........blah, blah, blah ... figured out how to dump a lot more money into a vehicle he hated at this point so that he would now love it...........
Yeah, I'm 24 but I've owned 25 vehicles, including 6 motorcycles.
..................
I hated loosing money on cars, but I felt I had this disease where I lost interest, like a severe form of ADHD for adults.... But this was my medicine. It is so exciting to look forward to modding my VX and meeting all the other owners.... IN a nutshell, I WILL NEVER EVER SELL MY VX.. In fact, got a little one on the way (Oct due date). By then I hope to have a DVD screen in the front and a drop down screen in the back.... Barney, here we come!!!!!!

Interesting since many of you have speculated that he might have ADD. So the cars were his medicine? A compulsion; something compelled him to acquire more & more cars? I find the line about losing interest to be intriguing. Of course, it doesn't make him a murderer but I wonder if he only lost interest in cars or if that extended to houses, states, jobs, women ... he did move around quite a bit when he was young. Perhaps he's just not able to be tied down to any one person, place, or thing for too long.

Rooster, you may not think so, but we do look for the truth. I'm not going to ignore anything just because it doesn't fit what I think occurred. As a matter of fact, I take a lot of heat on another board because I believe that a defendant might be innocent. So, I know what it's like to be in the hot seat around here. Selling his VX probably isn't first priority right now...I mean common.I don't know how to ask this without upsetting you so I'm just going to ask it and hope you'll understand. I can totally understand that selling his VX is not his first priority right now. But what about 6 months ago? It sounds as if there were financial problems for a while so why even still have the VX? I know that they probably wouldn't have gotten back even close to what they paid for it but even to be free of the payments would have been a bit of a help financially.
Here's the part that might seem upsetting. If it is, I truly apologize. If selling his VX isn't his top priority right now, (understandable), was it a priority to log onto his MySpace account one week after Janet's murder? He's even updated the space and added friends barely weeks after Janet's death. People DO grieve differently but I don't know if I would have been able to go online for anything so soon after the loss of a loved one. I'm genuinely just asking because I don't understand; not trying to sound accusatory.

First off, I've been off the website for a few months now, only checking back a couple times here and there. My wife and I had our first child. You can check out pictures here (http://www.ravenstree.com/).
Second and most important. I took my car into a repair place Monday for an oil change, tire rotation, and new Timing Belt. Looks like a half day's of labor turned into a three day project. [. . . ] I feel kinda cheated here causee I expect to get my car back better then when I brought it in since I paid $450 for them to do all that stuff. What do you recommend?

Jess, I'm having a hard time finding a post in there ... something about Raven's wish list for future vehicles. I think he wanted like a matching 280Z or something like that. Anyway I thought that was the post that referenced the pay off info.
But then again ... I got a lot of info rolling around in there!

I one day will be in the market for VX#2, and I hope it is in as great as shape as yours. Mine will be paid off next year, and then I want to buy a street one, and get my 99 vx ready for the big stuff!!! Ya know, 4 mies to the gallon type of stuff.....
Anyway, dreams, dreams!! Maybe I will just get a 350Z, they look really nice next to the VX.. The Saint has one, cool!!!! they even match colors!
I am going through a D right now, so I know the feeling! Best of luck!

Ok, so that post was in January 2004. (when he going through a "d" right now.) And he said then that his VX would be paid off next year.
And then in February of 2005, he's trying to sell it, because he's already several months behind on payments.
Sound right??

Those images and short movie are amazing. Technology facsinates me. I also downloaded the image of the girl with red streaks as my desktop background! Hope the wife doens't get jealous of a computer image!!!
Playboy? Maybe, the short wasn't anything sexy, just realistic... Too cool how the facial features look so natural and the texture of the skin so real...
HOWEVER, I clicked on this thread from the main page and thought is was a 3D rendering of the VX....bummer! __________________

A Very Long Drive
So, I'm in Chicago next week for business, flying in Sunday and then staying through Wednesday afternoon.... Sounds fun, will enjoy the site seeing... Then I am turning around and driving to Indiana from North Carolina! I am crazy!!!!
I am leaving Thursday morning to arrive in Attica Thursday night I guess. Is anyone planning on being up there sooner or camping or anything? Just wondering cause my wife and I and my dog will probably be there (not sure about the wife, but for sure me and the dog!)
I need to read our 6 pages of thread to figure out the details again, I am getting excited! __________________

4wheelparts.com.. grrrrrrrr
Ya'All, Don't know if I will be making it. I just got back from Chicago and my wife is giving me a hard time about leaving since we are moving next week!!!! Women!
If I don't make it, I will soon connect with some VX crew. I am feeling quite lonely out here in NC.
I wanted to say afew things about the quote that 4wheelparts is the best 4 wheel place. I know that there is one in Charlotte, NC and this is what I have to say.... I spent $2k on parts for my jeep, from springs, to seats, liner, push bars, pitman arms, steering columns, etc... All the accessories get in and I take the jeep in to have it all installed (because I don't have a garage to do it myself) and the freakin company calls me and said they can't cause the jeep has a spring over and they don't work on spring over lifts.... Holy Cow, it was their staff that came out, surveyed my car, recommended the correct solutions, and **** like that... And then they say they can't install any of it!!! PLuS, PLUS, PLUS, they recommended I sell the VX instead of mod it and spend the money I woud have spent lifing the VX and shiz to fix up my jeep!!!! F$*#&$'s

After some hail damage I was determined to change my vehicle from a bright red to a darker red color. I never was really happy when all was said and done. I was warned too and was too thick-headed to listen. I'd have a heart-attack over the slightest ding because I had the risk of color problems It costs a lot more money to completely change a vehicles color like that. You have to take it down to the metal and take very single part off to repaint. If not when you open the car doors, jams etc. the previous color would show through.

Absolutely! He got so upside down on this vehicle, it was way better to repaint it and hang on to it than anything else.
Even if he sold it and bought a *beater*, he'd run the risk of it not being mechanically sound and being another poor choice. He was way better with sticking with the VX.

Even I'm shocked at the prices here and I've had 5-6 regular (not custom) repaints. Changing color will drive your price up, but the custom job he would have had to have done must have been astronomical!
http://www.allpar.com/eek/body.html
.............
If you're going to paint the car a different color, then be prepared to remove the engine, all parts from the engine compartment, entire interior, entire trunk, and a lot of other parts. Unless you just want to paint the areas that are seen. Then you don't have to worry too much. A good body shop can work around certain things to make the car look good.
..............
The only type of body shop that will spend the time to remove all of the mouldings and trim and put them away in a nice orderly fashion would be a custom body shop. These shops will totally take apart your car, rebuild it, and re-paint it whatever color you want. They'll do custom work like graphics, pin stripping, metal flake, sparkle flake, or candy. These places will charge around $7000-$8000 for a custom job and about $3000 for a basic paint job.

If he embezzled $9,000 worth of merchandise, that'd probably be wholesale value, correct? So if he sold that stuff even at a reduced rate over what the retail market would charge, he'd probably still get back more than $9,000 if he sold it all. I wonder if he sold it all, and what the $9,000 theft actually netted him after the sales.

So it wasnt solid black? I could paint my car "custom green", but it wouldnt cost me $8000 so long as it was a solid color. The price comes in when you add pin stripes, flames etc...or use any of the red, or orange paints.

Maybe I'm dating myself here - but, what's up with this CB radio deal. I mean do many people still buy/use them for personal use? I know, what 20 years ago or more that there was a huge CB craze...but I had no idea that individuals used them much anymore, for personal use anyway.
And, as I know NOTHING about CB radios....is there anything in that vein that would be worth spending any investigation time on, or not?

Ya know, we should do some writing analysis and then if we find another forum where we are seeking him out, find our how many of the words he has used in posts that he uses elsewhere... there are certain words he consistenly spells wrong and he uses Dude a lot to ...
I bet we could find an online personal of him somewhere by digging up some idiosyncracies in his writing.

Remember tho he had to take it from WHITE to BLACK. That's not an easy job, even if you go solid black and no metallic glittery paint or pin striping.
Right, but that still wouldnt put the price at $8000.00. $4000.00 would easily cover it. Still alot of money, but not what I would call a hefty price for painting a vehicle.

Maybe I'm dating myself here - but, what's up with this CB radio deal. I mean do many people still buy/use them for personal use? I know, what 20 years ago or more that there was a huge CB craze...but I had no idea that individuals used them much anymore, for personal use anyway.
And, as I know NOTHING about CB radios....is there anything in that vein that would be worth spending any investigation time on, or not?some people listen in on each other's conversations on CB. And people who talk on them sometimes think that it's less risky to track like home phones and cell phones, but what some fools don't know is that some people in little ol' towns with nothing better to do tape cb conversation all the time with special satellite devices.

Good observation (about the spelling, certain word usage, etc.), PrayersforMaura. Did you see his post about the image he downloaded to use as his desktop background or something? He was talking about hoping the wife didn't get jealous, and how the skin looked so real, etc. It was kind of creepy actually - lol. If he got that much pleasure out of some computer image, I really believe that he'd at least be browsing porn and pornographic chat rooms. I believe that he has been around the net in a sexual manner but whether or not he posted or chatted, I don't know. What are some of the more popular message boards for people his age and/or with his interests? As far as dating sites, I'm sure we can't get any information on him aside from stumbling onto his photo (if he posted one), based on our search parameters.

This includes all accessories and a VX that is truly unique! Anyone interested feel free to call at 919-593-xxxx

Did you see where he dropped $2K on accessories for the jeep and they told him to dump the vx and invest more in the jeep? Jeeps hold their resale fairly well versus the vx's which went for around $30K new to practically worthless overnight. He made the choice to keep dumping money into the vx. I agree with you I don't think it got as high as $8K, but probably was between $4-6K for that job.

A communication device you can put in the helmet, so as to communicate with other riders.

I compare it to upgrading a computer when one could easily buy a new one for far less money. I pour far more into my system than it would ever be worth, and I most certainly could have purchased 2 completely new systems for what I have spent. Why do I do it? I like my computer, no other reason at all.

No, for me it goes back to the financial insanity that was going on there and the embezzlement. How or if it'll tie in to the murder remains to be seen.
Even under the most normal of circumstances a new baby adds a whole new dimension of financial and marital pressure on a couple. Add in financial insanity and felony embezzlement charges and there could have been a very volatile situation that was brewing in that house.

THE RENEWED 1999 BLACK IRONMAN... My Baby!
Long awaited release of my new look! I get even more looks now, and I've only been sporting the new look for 24 hours. I stopped by an Isuzu dealership and they were paging everyone to come out and take a look (however, I am not a big fan of their mechanics, go figure) and I've had approval by a few girls who weren't sure if they liked it or not. I've still got some mechancil issues and some more buffing to do, but I think it will all be worth it.
The big Question is, do I want to take it wheelin' now? Sure I do, but I'm gonna have to be very careful!!! Check out the StinkFab bent links I've got tucked under the rear wheels... The clearance looks awesome now!!!!
Let me know what you think!

Liking it is approval; not liking it obviously isn't. Is there more to this; is this some sort of implication? Maybe I'm reading too much into it but this wording doesn't make sense.

We never saw a retraction, but if you think about my theory ... both stories of Raven being there and the co-worker being there work.
The co-worker was probably frantically worried about her friend. Police were around and reporters. Reporters started asking her about her friend ... where was her husband? I don't know? I don't see him? He's no where to be found! But, he could have been inside the house talking to police and the reporters in a rush to get the story of Janet out, ran with what information they got from her friend.

Very true. However, it's still sloppy journalism. At best the reporter should have SITED the friend, "according to a friend of the victim, blah blah blah." Should NOT be reported as fact, unless, it has indeed been verified, as a fact, by LE.

My :twocents: . That maybe this particular reporter was there early the next morning or later that day. Raven had already left the house by then (either at the police station for more questioning or released), the co-worker(s) were there and this reporter stated the facts that we was told at that time. Raven was with the police that night after the murder, there were no questions about his whereabouts.
On a different note, Raven had 4 cars/motorcycles at the time he was fired from Eurosport: An Acura 3.0 CL, a Dodge Durango, a VX (just 1 and it was originally white) and his motorcycle. The jeep he apparently owned, he gave to a friend.

All the accessories get in and I take the jeep in to have it all installed (because I don't have a garage to do it myself)

They bought the Durango right before they took their trip out west, so that was in late November or early December. Since the VX wasn't exactly a family car used for long distances and the Acura was a 2-door, they didn't have a "family" car I guess. The Acura was semi-new, I don't remember exactly when they purchased it, nor do I know if Janet had a car before that, but I am pretty sure it was within the last year or so.

The answer is Darius. In the photos there were lots of pictures of Darius and the Jeep. I thought it was his, but then Raven was posting that it was his ... so I was very confused. I eventually figured out that Raven must have SOLD his jeep to Darius. I never figure that he GAVE it to him!

I am pretty sure the car was given to a guy, who was supposed to pay him for it, but never did...sounded shady to me at the time, still does...All I know is that I never saw his Jeep and that Raven never seemed too upset that he didnt have the Jeep or that his buddy hadn't paid him for it. I guess it's possible that whoever he gave the jeep to eventually paid him...
Golfmom, I have heard the same rumors you have, that one of her coworkers, old or new, were at the house. I know that the next morning old coworkers went to the scene, but that's all I know.

Although I never saw the car parked there, i was told that he was trying to sell the VX on Hillsborough Road, which is a street, in Durham, with alot of fast food restaurants and gas stations (high traffic area).
Wouldn't the "highend, custom painted, tricked out, top of the line VX" be subject to break in or be stolen if he just left it out? Maybe he brought it home each night? Munch: Do you know if Raven had all of his vehicles (3 cars and a motorcycle) on April 26 or had it sold any between losing his job and Janet's murder?

I would not leave a vehicle out overnight in the area or anywhere in Durham for that matter. You would be lucky to come back and find it still there. And even if the vehicle was still there, it would probably be on blocks and stripped. :D

John,
thanks for the details. Right now it is just me and my dog coming on the trip. However, I have had a few friends express an interest, and may have one guest. For now, count me in for one VX and one tent.
I am considering coming up early too, but I am just thinking coming Thursday evening through Sunday... If I can be of assistance, let me know!

Wow, this is like goign to automotive school! I had to put aside the project until Tuesday due to going out of town this weekend. The guys are going to help me figure it out, but this direction also helps me appreicate the work they will put into fixing the problem! If I find a wire that has been damaged or exposed, can't I just wrap electrical tape around it and call it a day?

Lauriej, your posts made me wonder about something. Is it possible that Raven was dating during the separation, and met someone (his guest) that he really liked, and got back together with Janet out of a sense of obligation? Is it possible that he didn't break off that relationship right away (or yet even) after moving back in with Janet?
Also, does anyone know if he ever actually attended any of these VX events? It seems that I've seen a lot of posts saying "Oh yeah, count me in for sure!!!", only to be followed by something like "Looks like you guys are on your own. Wife won't let me come", and other such reasons. Is he just a talker on this board or has he actually shown up to participate in person?

That brings me to a point I've pondered about . . . Don't you think that someone would have mentioned something about Janet's murder on the VX boards? Something along the lines of "our dear friend NC_VX wife has been murdered our prayers are with him at this difficult time." These people got together regularly, it sounds like some of them might have even known Janet.

I thought that at first too, golfmom. But after thinking about it for awhile, I concluded that since he was VERY good friends with at least one of those VX posters (Darius, right?), I would expect that Raven would call him up to tell him - and Darius might have then called those folks on the board who were good friends of Raven's. Maybe Raven expressed his wish that the information be kept off the board?

True, and would they even pay much attention to him not being there? People come and people go online. Happens here on WS all the time. Someone will be posting for months, then just walk away. Most times we dont even notice...or if we do, we just assume they have other things to do.
In Ravens case, if he stopped posting on the VX board, and I was a member there, my assumption would be he lost his VX.

I heard a couple of times now that there was a 2000 Honda SE mini-coop that can be added to the big boy toys list, but that it mysteriously burned to the ground at 4:00 a.m. in Smithfield VA when Raven was living there and Janet was going to school.

Just an interesting update -
You'll recall that in the Durham County Property Tax records for Raven, there were two vehicles listed, one with a tax value of $2530, and one with a tax value of $8670. The tax bills on both vehicles have been in arrears for months (the taxes on the vehicle in Janet's name, presumably the Acrua, were paid in full when due).
I'm reasonably certain that the vehicle with the tax value of $8670 is the VX (based on Kelly Blue Book). The smaller tax valued vehicle is probably the Durango.
The Durango we are told is still with Durham Police (even though released, it's never been claimed). And presumably Raven is still driving the VX, or at least we have reports that he was driving it at the funeral.
Interestingly enough, just this week, on July 18th, a tax payment was posted on the property tax account for $131.62, the amount past due on the vehicle valued at $8670. Interesting, in that Raven is due back in NC this week for the embezzlement hearing. Seems almost like the tax was quickly paid prior to that vehicle presumably being driven into the area for the hearing - perhaps making sure there would be nothing to keep him from then leaving with the VX again? Or to make sure the vehicle could be registered in another state at some point in time? (Unpaid property taxes in NC can result in liens on the property, and also inhibit the owner from re-registering the vehicle elsewhere in another state.)
Note: The property taxes due on the other vehicle (the one valued at $2530) remain in arrears.

The following has been brought to my attention:
When we originally researched the tax records, Durham County Government : Tax Records Search (http://www.co.durham.nc.us/departments/txad/TaxDB/), there were two listings, one for Janet and one for Raven. Under Janet's, we had what was most likely the Acura, taxes paid. On Raven's, we had two vehicles - one valued around $2,500 and one valued around $8,000, taxes unpaid on both.
Upon searching more recently, not only did we learn that the taxes had finally been paid on Raven's vehicle valued at $8,000, (probably that damned VX), we also found a (new) third listing for taxable property valued at around $10,000. The taxes were unpaid and the item was listed jointly as Raven's and Janet's. We've never seen this item before now, nor have we seen any joint property before now.
I don't know what this new item is, when it was purchased, when it was listed, or why it is listed jointly as Janet's and Raven's. I also don't know if this means anything but found it odd that it never appeared before now.
Since they just bought the Durango prior to their trip out west in December 2004, perhaps the new tax bill, ($10,000-ish), is the Durango? So the $8,000-ish would most likely be the VX but what would the $2,500-ish one be? The Ducati's real value would most likely have been around $5,500, and even when you consider that taxable value is usually below the actual value, would it be that much below?
And is there any significance that upon buying the Durango in December 2004, for the first time Raven registered a vehicle in both of their names?
Well anyway - here it is. Whether or not it means anything, I have no idea.

Hi guera - Welcome! Sounds like that might very well be Raven's VX... all the facts seem to point in that direction. Perhaps Raven's having to liquidate some "toys" to raise some cash! As we discussed long ago, the Ironman is some type of limited edition vehicle that ONLY comes in white. No surprise that Raven had to have the limited edition. It's also not surprising to me that he had to paint it in order to have one of the very few BLACK Ironman VXes around. Me? I'd have been true to the car, and kept it in it's manufactured color. But to Raven, what would make him stand out even more than owning a Limited Edition Ironman? Owning a Black Limited Edition Ironman. One of a kind, dude. And now he's selling? So "The Rave" is attempting to sell his VX? Wonder if Talon had anything to do with it.
It has a phone number listed? LOL, bet Raven's looking for new friends to talk to on his new cell phone, because I have a feeling most of his old friends are starting to turn on the felon/murderer.
The trust money must have run out, wonder how many hours a week he works now, 5 or 10 lol. but he does have to pay his cell phone bill (considering he got canned from his last job - can you hear me now) but hey, on the bright side for "The Rave", he doesn't need the VX anyhow, he has a nice bike he can ride.
Thanks for the info Guera.

I've been thinking about the VX with NC tags. Isn't it nearly time for Raven to legally register the VX in Utah? Here are some rules regarding registration in Utah:
DMV - Nonresidents (http://dmv.utah.gov/registernonresidents.html#nonresidents)
Utah law requires you to register your vehicle in Utah within 60 days if you:
have established a permanent home for yourself and your family in this state;
live in Utah, continuously or non-continuously, for a total of six months, regardless of having a permanent residence in another state;
engage in a trade, profession or occupation in Utah, or accept other than seasonal work in Utah, and you do not commute into the state;
declare yourself a resident of Utah to obtain privileges not ordinarily extended to nonresidents, including going to school, enrolling your children in local schools without paying nonresident tuition or fees; or purchasing resident hunting or fishing licenses;
obtain a Utah drivers license.
The only exceptions in the law are for full-time nonresident students (http://dmv.utah.gov/registernonresidents.html#students) attending a Utah college or university, and for military personnel (http://dmv.utah.gov/registernonresidents.html#military) temporarily stationed in Utah.
Additionally, prior to registering your vehicle, there are a number of fees that must be paid:
Personal property tax for passenger cars and light trucks is a uniform fee based on the age of the vehicle. The fee is applicable to passenger cars, light trucks (including sport utility vehicles) and vans. These fees are due at the time of registration, even on new vehicles and when a vehicle is registered more than once during a year. The fees are:
2005 Motor Vehicle Assessment Fees
Model Year of Vehicle
Fee
2005- 2003 $150
2002- 2000 $110
1999- 1997 $80
1996- 1994 $50
1993 and older $10
Registration fees (http://dmv.utah.gov/registertaxesfees.html#mvregistration) also apply. All other vehicles are subject to the uniform fee in lieu of property tax, which is 1.5 percent of the fair market value of vehicles as established by the Tax Commission. Subject to the 1.5 percent fee-in-lieu are medium and heavy duty trucks, recreational vehicles, which includes motor homes, trailers, truck campers, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, personal water craft, ATVs, and vehicles registered for off-road use.
Utah Motor Vehicle Registration Fees
$21.50passenger cars and light trucks (plus $2.50 drivers education fee and $1 for Insurance Database Fee - making the total $25.00)
$1 - $10.00Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Weber counties also require an emissions fee (I/M or APC Fee) between $1 and $10, depending on the county and fuel type.
$23.00motorcycles (plus $1 for Insurance Database Fee - making the total $24.00)
$49.50motor vehicles or combination of vehicles, to transport passengers for hire or property for hire: 12,001 to 14,000 lbs. gross laden weight (add $2.50 Drivers Education Tax and $1 Insurance Database Fee for each)
plus: an additional fee (increased 7-1-97) of $18.50 for each 2,000 lbs. over 14,000 lbs. gross laden weight to 80,000 lbs. gross laden weight.
$21.50 farm trucks up to 12,000 lbs. gross laden weight;
$33.00 farm trucks 12,001 lbs. to 14,000 lbs. (add $2.50 Drivers Education Tax and $1 Insurance Database Fee for each)
plus: $9.00 for each 2,000 lbs. up to 80,000 lbs. gross laden weight
$11.00trailers over 750 lbs. (unladen)
$8.50commercial trailers that are under 750 lbs. (unladen)
Registration is not required for private trailers under 750 lbs. (unladen)
So maybe Raven can't afford all of these fees but realizes that if he doesn't register his vehicle in Utah soon, he'll be breaking the law. Not wanting to do that, he realizes that he has no choice but to sell his beloved "unique" VX.

Not cheap, to be sure, JG, but don't forget, he's got car payments on that oneofakind VX. From what I've heard, it doesn't sound as though he's making the income to support his beloved toys. I don't recall, is the Durango financed to the hilt, as well? It would seem the Durango would be more economical than the VX, although, with gas prices as they are, neither would be too inexpensive to be driving around!
I thought I'd do a little research of my own, and found that the gas prices in SLC average about $2.80 a gallon. Not quite arm/leg like they are where I live, but certainly not a buck a gallon I remember from not to long ago!

From what we've heard, Raven bought the VX new, and it's a 99. He mentioned something about it being due to be paid off "next year" and I believe that was in 2004.
The Durango, if I'm not mistaken, was just purchased last autumn.
So if he has payments left on either, I would think it would be the Durango. However, if he was behind on his bills, he might still owe on the VX as well.

I don't know how police work in Utah, but if a car was sitting parked out somewhere with tags on them from another State, especially a Vehicle for sale, I know where I live, the plates would be checked and a ticket issued. It's one way, in the sweeps, to make money by issuing these types of tickets.

I asked previously and if it's been posted online previously by the person then it's fair game. So, when Raven posted on the vx boards and his pocketpc website his home phone number we were able to transfer it over here.

I actually had driven by a while back and had seen both the Durango and the Acura there, but I didn't happen to see them this last time when I noticed the VX was for sale. I will try on the photos... to be honest I don't have a camera so I'll try to find somebody who does! I did look up the number on 411.com though and all it says is that it's an unlisted SLC number listed with AT&T... so my guess is that it's basically a Cingular phone.

Guera: If you don't want to call, maybe you could PM Term and give her the number to call. That way, we'll have the details...
Thanks for trying to get the pictures taken!

..you saw janet's acura as well ????
..didn't we have ( solid, unconfirmed) info that janet's family members had the acura ?
..how on earth did raven end up with all 3 vehicles ?? and get all of them clear across the country ?
...i'm not hating it though, that it's the "look-at-me-now-i'm-so-cool VX " that he's got up for sale.......

We were told that after the funeral, raven's FAMILY took the Acura, not Janet's. Nice, huh? God forbid Janet's family should get any of their daughter's personal belongings...when her cheating, lousy, can't support his own family, husband wants to keep them! Ya think raven and his family would be so low and sell them to make money???
We were told that raven was fired....guessing it's from the pesky background check.

Wow Ewwww how sickening.
Are you sure Karyn Bolton isn't really Jackie Peterson in disguise? Geez... this sounds so much like deja vu!
I am sick of waiting too and hope that LE will get off their duff and clip The Rave's wings asap if not sooner!

Does anyone know if Raven still has the Durango and the VX? Did the VX ever sell?

I keep thinking about that post Raven made about keeping the VX and the Durango if it were up to him. And after the funeral, as his mom drove away in Janet's Acura, Raven was indeed left with the Durango and the VX. Interesting how that worked out.

I was just thinking - if the VX wasn't at the house that night, would LE even have known that it existed until later? Could it have been at Raven's disposal for days even before LE even learned of it?

That's a really good question. One would hope that LE asked Raven that night about other vehicles, but who knows. And if they didn't, then that certainly leaves the VX AND the Acura possibly out of the picture for how long? Hours, days?
But again, let's hope that LE knew THAT NIGHT that the Abaroa's owned other vehicles, and, asked Raven about the whereabouts of those vehicles, that night!
ETA: Now that I think about it, the reward press release mentioned that Janet had come home from work, and that they had taken her car in for repairs. So one can safely assume I suppose that Raven told LE that story, if not that night, then surely within a short timeframe after the murder. The VX however, who knows when it first came into conversation.......

Would a judge not grant warrants on those vehicles (at least on the VX if it wasn't in a shop that night)?

So I notice that Raven only claims the Durango as a vehicle on his bankruptcy papers, with a net worth under $4000.
Did his family buy Janet's Acura?
And where oh where did his pride and joy the VX go? Sold? "Given" to a family member? Inquiring minds gotta know...... :)

Not sure about the VX....but he didn't list any "sales" as assets in 2006, but he does have one pending sale of 100 bucks on the bankruptcy. I believe the Acura was sold by Raven to Jim Bolton and it was driven back to Utah after the Memorial service, I could be wrong, but that's what I thought. I have to go back over everything to check for accuracy, and I'll let you know after I look around a bit.

Not sure about the VX....but he didn't list any "sales" as assets in 2006, but he does have one pending sale of 100 bucks on the bankruptcy. If Raven is the kind of guy that doesn't pay his taxes, embezzles from his employer, doesn't claim that as income even AFTER reading here that he could be charged for that alone, buys religious products and then doesn't pay for them, hasn't even paid off his restitution, etc., I find myself wondering why he would list this pending sale of $100. It just doesn't fit with what we've come to know of Raven. He'd play up his debts and hide any money coming in. So why would he list that $100 sale? If you or I were to sell something for $100, would we list it as pending income on our bankruptcy forms??? Doubtful - an amount that small, we'd probably not even think to list it and if we did, we'd think - who'd even know about that 100 bucks? So why would he list it? Is it something that's traceable (like the transfer of an automobile title), so he realizes that he has to list it but doesn't want to pay taxes on it?
ETA: To whomever mentioned Karyn's name in connection to this bankruptcy of Raven's - I agree. It really seems very suspicious that she just recently sold her house and now Raven goes bankrupt. Fishy, IMO.
And do we know yet if he will have to still pay for student loans and legal judgements?

here is a link to what is dischargeable under chapt 7, also some other good info
http://www.ndb.uscourts.gov/forms/DischargeInfo.htm#4
"...The most common types of non- dischargeable debts are certain types of tax claims, debts not included by the debtor on the lists and schedules the debtor must file with the court, debts for spousal or child support or alimony, debts for willful and malicious injuries to person or property, debts to governmental units for fines and penalties, debts for most government funded or guaranteed educational loans or benefit overpayments, ........"
So, does this mean his debt to ES will not be discharged? seems like the embezzelment was willful and malicious to ES, not sure about the ed. loans, were they gov. supported?

I appreciate the props . That was my one and only event so far and I loved it... I won't be off the VX train for long if I do sell. Right now I continue to job hunt hard and hope to make it through this!I'm looking for the story of Raven's original purchase of the VX. While I haven't found it yet, reading this thread reminds me all over again just how desperate Raven was to keep the VX. It seems like it really pained him to have to think about the possibility of not just losing the VX but losing all of the attention he felt he was getting at that site.

Looking through the stuff he posted on those sites, the VX was more important than anything, including his wife and child.
