From WLKI.com:
CONCORD, N.H. - (AP) - A mother whose two children were killed and reportedly buried somewhere in the Midwest plans to drive the route they took in hopes of finding their roadside graves and bringing them home. Terri Knight's ex-husband, Manuel Gehring, told authorities he shot the 14-year-old Sarah and eleven-year-old Philip in the family minivan soon after the fireworks ended in Concord, New Hampshire, on July fourth, 2003. Gehring was arrested six days later in California. The children have never been found. Gehring told authorities he buried them near Interstate 80 in the Midwest but he couldn't find the spot when authorities took him through Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania. The search included Steuben and LaGrange Counties in Indiana and Williams County in Ohio. Gehring killed himself in jail in February 2004. Knight plans to set out on the same route on July sixth, trying renew interest in the case.

This is one of the saddest things I've ever heard.... was the x-husband also the father of these children, did he kill his own children? I just can't even imagine.... Is there more information available anywhere?

The FBI posted the tape and a transcript on its Web site, hoping the shock of hearing Manuel Gehring's account might bring forward people who recognize the spot he described.
Gehring told authorities that he shot to death his 14-year-old daughter, Sarah, and 11-year-old son, Philip, and buried them by the side of the road after wrapping them in plastic, sticking duct-tape crosses on their chests and saying a prayer.
But Gehring could not remember the exact spot, and last year he strangled himself in jail while awaiting trial.
He told authorities he killed the children shortly after leaving Concord, then drove for hours, maybe days, with their bodies in the van before burying them along a 700-mile stretch of I-80 from Pennsylvania to Iowa.
On the tape, Gehring recalled walking through tall grass near an old-fashioned water pump and wire fence, within sight of a tan or yellow building. He said several concrete pipes standing on end were nearby.
"It looked like abandoned property," he said at one point. "It was like a dumping area."

I have taken pics of a site that match the description that Manuel gave of the Burial site. I sent them to info@concordregionalcrimeline.com about 2 weeks ago from the date of Sept 28th, 2005. I gave my name and where I lived. I'm just wondering how long it would take them to respond or do I need to get in contact with local authorities? I have been totally taken over by this story because I live right next to I-80, the last exit before OHIO.
I have e-mailed Teri Knight with pics also.
I have been in that area just looking around since the story appeared in the Sharon Herald this past July 24th, 2005. That was not my first site that I looked but my third. When I came up on it, I have'nt been able to think of anything else.
He refered to tall grass with seeds on top, 6 ft.fence with barbed wire on top, in a square or rectangle shape. Inside that fence is a water pump house, behind it is the tall grass with the seeds on top, and behind the tall grass is the area in question, which is an excavating business that deals with cement pipes, gravel and cement slabs all over the area. It's not a busy place at all. I never saw anyone going in or out in my many times I was searching. There is a tan or brown building in site of where manuel said he buried them. Across the street is a big swamp, past the swamp in view is I-80. They found pollen in Manuels van that could only have come from a near by wetlands area. I'm trying my best to find someone that knows how to deal with these situations, like a cadaver dog or a forensic knowledgeable person that knows what to look for.
Thanks,
Suepap

I don't think anyone could come close to imagine what it feels like to have both your kids murdered............that is far from imagineable and unrealistic in the world.

I would go to LE in your area and explain what you just told us. Offer to go with them to show them where you are talking about. If they are smart they will take cadaver dogs out there and check that area out. They can't lose anything by doing that and they may just find evidence to put a mother's heart at peace.

Good thought, I hadn't even thought of that. If the bodies are there, that puts the evidence in the jurisdiction of your local cops. So they should be contacted also.

I suggest that you call the State Police and explain who you are and what information you have. They are probably the ones who looked for the children before, have a knowledge of the case, and canl coordinate with any local jurisdictions necessary. Usually, also, they have jurisdiction over major highways and lands adjacent.
State Police usually have aviation units (helocoptors) with infrared sensors to examine the area. It is also the State Police who have K-9 tracking units, and possibly cadaver dogs.

Sue,
You could also contact a missing children's advocacy group and see if they can help set up a small private search. If you get the right publicity, some people may even volunteer their search dogs. Garrett Bardsley's father, sadly, has experience coordinating search and recovery efforts. I don't know him personally, but you can find out more at www.findgarrett.org (http://www.findgarrett.org).

HUDSON, Ohio (AP) — Two bodies discovered in Ohio may be those of two New Hampshire children whose father confessed to killing them and burying them somewhere along a 700-mile stretch of the Midwest 2 1/2 years ago, authorities said Friday.
Police and the FBI said a dog that bolted from its owner during a walk Thursday found two shallow graves with human remains wrapped in plastic near Interstate 80, also known as the Ohio Turnpike.
Scott Wilson, a spokesman with the FBI's Cleveland office, said he could not comment on the gender or age of the bodies, but added: "We're looking into the possibility the bodies might be linked to those missing kids."
If tests confirm the remains are those of Sarah and Philip Gehring of Concord, N.H., the discovery will end a long and frustrating search that ranged 700 miles across the Midwest.
Sarah, 14, and Philip, 11, were shot to death by their father, Manuel Gehring, as he fled across the country in July 2003. Gehring confessed to the slayings but strangled himself in prison before he could be tried.
He told police he buried the children somewhere along a stretch of interstate between Pennsylvania and Iowa, but he could not pinpoint the spot. He described the site as having tall grass, concrete pipes, a wire fence, an old water pump and a yellowish building.
Extensive searches turned up no evidence of the graves, and some officials despaired of ever finding the bodies.
"I'm numb," Gehring's ex-wife and the children's mother, Teri Knight, said from her home in Hillsboro, N.H., where she was watching news reports. "We've learned to take things sometimes week-to-week and month-to-month, and today it's minute-to-minute."
Gehring, an unemployed accountant, had been locked in a custody dispute with his ex-wife, who had remarried. Gehring's ex-wife and her husband said they searched within five miles of Hudson earlier this fall.
The children were last seen arguing with their father at a July Fourth fireworks display. Gehring said he pulled off the highway later that night and shot the children, then drove for hours with their bodies in his van.
He said he eventually wrapped his children in plastic and buried them with duct-tape crosses on their chests.
He was arrested in California a week after the children disappeared.
