Yes thank you for the information. I know that I will be writing to the Govenor of Kansas to talk about my feelings on all this. This just happened here in Kansas:

LAWRENCE -- For nearly a decade, Leroy Hendricks has undergone court-ordered therapy for being a sexual predator, the first person in Kansas to receive such treatment under a landmark 1994 law.
Now, he's on the verge of moving to Lawrence, and people can't learn from the state where he'll live because this time the law is on his side.

I don't know if the link will work to the rest of the story due to it being on our local papers site and I believe you have to subscribe to the archives to view them. However, I just find this really sick and sad. I do agree that some limits need to be put on these national registries. I know of one person who is on our local one that is on there because the girl lied to him about her age. Turns out she was 15 instead of 18. However, I do think that citizens have a right to know if an offender is living next door. No matter if they have been "rehabilitated" or not.

I took Steve's advice and wrote to the President, my congressman, and senators to take federal action regardign pedophiles. One offense and they locked up for life. When oh when are we going to learn that our children suffer the cost of letting this type of criminal to roam in our culture?

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_2842878

He was released last year after serving time for raping a little boy and a little girl. Within months, he was accused of molesting his girlfriend's son. He was brought in and confessed to the molestation. LE LET HIM GO AFTER HE CONFESSED TO MOLESTING AN 8-YEAR-OLD BOY. When they finally got the warrant for his arrest two months later, they couldn't find him (go figure). He ended up going on a rampage, raping a dozen people, including 11-year-old twin sisters and their grandmother, before he was chased down in the Rocky Mountains. One woman was beat so bad they had to remove part of her brain to keep her alive. This has definately got to change.

Thanks for this.....I knew he was to appear today for a plea. I am so glad that he will be off the street forever. Let's hope more of these vicious criminals will get sentences like this. Think that the number of years in his sentence, 1200 years will keep him in even if it's accurate that criminals serve about 1/4 to 1/3 of their sentence that lets him out in about 300 or 400 years. Appropriate sentencing I would think.....

I googled the guy as someone suggested and found another story about him: http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/jun/04/hendricks/

This talks about the legal case concerning the Kansas Sexually Violent Predator Act: http://www.ilppp.virginia.edu/DMHL/Issues/hendricksv16n1.html

Sentencing them to multi-hundreds of years are the only thing that seems to work anymore. If you sentence them to "life" they get out in 20 or so years for good behavior.
