I realize SOMETHING has to be done about these sexual predators AND many here have expressed their anger about the system & suggested writing letters to Congress to do something to STOP their release...This Duncan should have NEVER been out in the streets, he's a CLASS 3 sexual predator, I'm outraged that this judge claims he didn't know! :furious: :banghead:

What can we do? Where do we write to? HELP!!! Can we all get together on a (form) letter, maybe each of us can add to it...putting all these great thinking minds together here could help keep these animals behind bars for good & save America's children! I know what I'd like to say, but have a hard time putting it into words...Thanks in advance. :)

kpass...I agree!! There are several of us in the Lunsford forum who are talking about organizing a march on DC (which could be done in conjunction with a letter writing campaign). Can you imagine it? Thousands of angry mothers and fathers, families and friends decending upon DC in an, orderly fashion of course. Could they ignore all those faces?

That would be GREAT!!!!!! I can't guarantee I'd be able to participate in the march, no time off work til next year :sick: However, I'd be VERY interested in a 'letter writing campaign,' I'd pass emails along to everyone I know & ask they do the same, etc. & encourage more people to get involved. Becca and I are throwing ideas to each other via email right now...we were thinking next spring. But, this will take some organization. Thanks for that link rocky!! Right now we are just throwing ideas around...but we are determined to organize and be heard. Check out the thread in the Lunsford forum titled "Million Mama March" (http://websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25849)

I think being organized is important...we can all shoot letters off to our representatives, but imagine a campaign to do something. Not one or two letters but thousands saying the same thing. WE'VE HAD ENOUGH!

We can do it. Between the posters and the lurkers, WS reaches a large number of people in all walks of life. Between us we can reach out to all media and legislators, and in large numbers. The more people who are actively speaking out the better. So lurkers, Please join in and help. Your participation is welcomed and very needed. The more people participating, the more successful we can be.
Our laws right now are insufficient to protect our kids. And getting laws passed state by state, takes forever and each state waters the laws down a lttle bit more. We need our legislators to stand strong on this, and we need it to be uniform- no state needs an increase in their sex offender population, because their laws aren't as strict when it comes to sex offenders.
Homeland security was developed to make our country safer from enemies outside our country. But they don't accomplish much if our kids are dying from the enemy within our country.
The death of Jessica Lunsford and now of Dylan Groene show just how insufficent our laws are in protecting our kids. Both offenders had previous convictions of sex offenses. One offender was minimumly (sp) complying with the sex offender registration laws, and one offender was complying completely (at least until he got caught again). This has to stop. We have to stand up for our kids, because if we don't protect them, no one will (and they cannot protect themselves).

Pink is associated with Barbie. A little girl sees a stranger pull up with a pink license plate and thinks "how cool!" I think puke green is a better color.

Many of the threads also contain other articles and discussions. They may make you cry, they may shock you, they may make you mad. But I can almost gaurentee (sp) you that you will learn more than you ever want to know before you leave. There is a lot of info there.

I beg you to work with the congress and senate to write federal laws that will keep pedophiles off out streets after the first offense. Legislation of this nature is not partisan and would be welcomed all over the country.

If anyone saw the convenience store surveillance video showing Shasta and that sicko the day she was rescued, you can see a little frightened girl who is walking with her legs far apart, splaying from side to side. This child was probably repeatedly raped. I think she could barely walk as a result. If this is not injured, I don't know what is. Check out the videos on another thread here to see how absolutely, deranged this monster is. After viewing that, I think this kid was subjected to the worst. These vermin have to be stopped. I heard that Americans are more concerned with child molesters than terrorism. Despite the events this morning, I understand that. Florida has instiuted a law mandating 27 years to life for monsters who commit certain sex crimes against children. That's what every state needs. Better yet, how about a one strike, no possibility of parole? I am outraged. It's just got to stop. I agree with Tom'sGirl that most of these type of people don't own a car so the pink license plates wouldn't do much good in identifying them or making people aware of them. In discussing this subject with my neighbors, I've become aware of 3 registered sex offenders in our city and none of them have a car because they can't hold a steady job. One lives with his mother and is often seen outside the nearby convenience store using the pay phone. His elderly mother doesn't get enough pension to afford a phone. He doesn't work!

Another one, a younger man, has some kind of mental problem and can't hold a job so he lives with his parents. Another man lives alone but doesn't have a job or a car so he's a walker often seen around the neighborhood walking to the grocery store or the bus stop.

I suspect most sex offenders would fall into this same category and probably don't have a steady job or can't hold a job, and can't afford a car either.

But lets keep thinking, maybe we can come up with a better solution for identifying them. I like the idea of the computer chip shot into their heads with a nail gun.

I'm ... and have been following the Groene kids' case since the beginning, along with many other missing child cases. Too many times is a child abduced by a child molester/sex offender that has been let out of jail even after the reason they were in jail was because they molested/raped another child. Often times the child they just abducted is killed. Please, please, please, do something to keep these sex offenders off our streets after their first offense. 500,000 sex offenders have served their time and been released, however 100,000 of them are missing, having not kept up their information with their state, etc. Did you know 1 out of 4 people have been molested or raped by the time they are 18? Please work with the Congress and the Senate to create federal laws that help make the US safer for children. Make a federal law like Florida's that sentences a sex offender to 27 years to life in prison for their first offense. This legislation would be welcomed by millions of people. I honestly don't see any way that can be done. As terrifying as psychopathic sex offenders are, random acts of violence such as those committed by a creep like Duncan don't qualify as terrorism. I was just trying to point out how the government views terrorism. As the link I posted says, terrorism is politically motivated, and it is done in order to influence a government to take a certain action and/or in protest of that government's actions. I doubt that anyone could convince the government that anything Duncan did fit these criteria, but you are of course welcome to try!

Would putting terror in the hearts of every child in America so they had to sleep with their parents for a long time after the kidnapping/rape qualify?

Is anyone affected for a life time?

Did it affect people worldwide?

Did changes happen afterwards because of the terror that hit?

Is kidnapping, raping and murdering a child a heinous act committed by a monster?

Terrorism means putting terror into the hearts and minds of those affected by the incident.

The answer to all of these questions is YES, so I would classify these offenders as terrorists...

How many Duncan's are getting ready to strike, he's a terrorist, that laid his plans out online long before he struck so other terrorists could watch their hero.

How do we classify type 3 offenders as terrorists?

Do they really need a bomb strapped to their chest to hurt innocent children? …or affect families or communities?

They are terrorists, and it's time to start treating them as such. They are destroying our neighborhoods faster than Al Queda....and yes we need to stop them!

I beg you to work with the congress and senate to write federal laws that will keep pedophiles off our streets after the first offense. Legislation of this nature is not partisan and would be welcomed all over the country. Please help to ensure we have no more Dylan and Shasta Groenes, Jessica Lunsfords and so on & so on, God only knows. The list is so long and it's so sad our federal government is not involved in protecting children. Thank you for your consideration.

Feel free to make any suggestions as well, I have a few but I'd doubt they'll use them, but I'll throw them in anyways, ya never know...I'd like to see every SEXUAL PREDATOR with "PEDO" tattooed on their forehead; install GPS tracking devices into their head with a nail gun, that CAN work! ...OR if they own a car, putting a black & white picture of a skull & crossbones on their 'hot pink' license plate; maybe they can all be sent to an island like Alcatraz or somewhere other than our country!

Dear President Bush,

I am Karen Passarelli, an American citizen & registered voter and have been following the tragic Groene family case since the beginning, along with many other missing child cases. Too many times is a child abducted by a child molester/sexual predator/pedophile/sex offender, and has been let out of jail even after the reason they were in jail was because they molested/raped another child. Often times they murder these children. Please, please, please, do something to keep these sex offenders off our streets after their first offense, NO second chances!!! 500,000 sex offenders have served their time and been released, however 100,000 of them are missing, having not kept their information up to date with their state, etc. Did you know 1 out of 4 people have been molested or raped by the time they are 18? Please work with the Congress and the Senate to create federal laws that help make the United States of America safer for our children, they deserve it, they are our future! Consider passing a federal law like Florida's that sentences a sex offender to 27 years to life in prison for their first offense. This legislation would be welcomed by millions of people. These monsters are hurting and affecting everyone, almost anyone you talk to will have known someone that's been sexually abused. The nation is not safe. These monsters are to children just as like terrorists are to countries.

Also, everyone might consider contacting the national news stations (CNN, FoxNews, etc.) and their local radio stations to get them to cover more on missing children. I suggested they show a picture of a child right before a commercial and they put up links and have a missing child of the month-type feature on their websites. I've emailed my local radio stations and have already heard back from 2 that said talking more about child abductions was a great idea and they'd talk it over with their program directors.
