Did anyone catch the interview of Jesse Groene? When the reporter asked if he thinks Duncan should get the death penalty his crime, his response what to the effect that "if they don't give it to him, I will".

I am sure they are in the same prison system. I hope Duncan doesn't get any "protective custody" because of this.

Sometimes I think the lethal injection is way too kind. You simply go to sleep and "You are outta there". I am starting to believe life without parole is a better punishment (as long as your not in protective custody).

** This is not to open debate on the death penalty. I am just so outragged over this crime, I want Duncan to suffer.

I just want him gone. I don't care if he suffers or not, because, IMO, he will never connect any suffering he may experience with any actions of his own. It would just give him something else to whinge about.

He just needs to cease to exist, for the safety of our children.

Jesse Groene was moved to the jail in Wallace.Pending his move to Cottonwood to serve his rider.

You can rest assured Duncan will be in protective custody. If he doesnt end up on death row I would assume Idaho will house him out of state like we did Claude Dallas probably Leavenworth. He will never see General Population in Idaho I guarentee it.Which I feel is a real shame. But thats just me.

Sex Offenders usually get put into protective custody -- I am not sure why -- If they have done a crime (like everyone one else -- they should be treated like everyone else while they do their time) -- Why do we protect "sex offenders" over general inmates -- I KNOW WHY -- But, why? I say send them in in pink jumpsuits -- and let nature take it's course -- I am sure that you would not see so many early releases -- as they would likely never see that date. What does that say that even what society has deemed " the worst of the worst" serving time in our prison system -- despises sexual offenders (especially those whose victims are children) -- UNBELEVIABLE!!!

In the system I work in nobody is denied protective custody who wants it.

Partially out of its the right thing to do but also fear of the Dept of Corrections liabilty should it fail to adequately protect an inmate who requests protection.
What you might find strange is that the PC unit is usually one of the biggest discipline problems in the institution. And one of the more dangerous for staff.
Its almost as though in order to compensate for being too weak or cowardly to exist in general pop they misbehave in PC.
In my happy little world ,maintaining your protective status would be up to you.As long as your not a problem for staff and have no diciplinary write ups you can sit in PC and be protected, but if your fly enough to threaten other inmates or staff you obviously no longer need protection so back to general pop you go.
However that is not how it works.

I agree with your take on it. You want protective custody? Okay, sit in there and shut up, no problems from you. You give us a hard time, well, you know the consequences - back to General Population. To me, there would then be consequences to harassing the staff, etc. The inmate could then choose - ya wanna be a bad azz to the staff, then go play bad azz to the gen population. Pretty easy to communicate to the inmates!

I hope Idaho changes their polices, just for you and the rest of the staff's daily lives!
