Just saw on Fox News an interview with Frank McKenna, the Canadian Ambassador to the U.S.. I took notes as furiously as my little fingers could write....

Canada has sent 4 military ships, a 45 member Search and Rescue team, Divers, 20 thousand hospital beds and blankets, Canadian Red Cross personnel, plus monetary donations.

Ambassador McKenna spoke beautifully when asked by the interviewer (I don't know the guy, it wasn't O'Reilly) if the generous donations had anything to do with trying to make President Bush look foolish, I hope to find his answer transcribed word for word somewhere, but here's one portion I caught exactly, "We have been neighbors and friends for hundreds of years..." and then he later said, "it transcends everything..."

Thank you, to all of our Canadian friends. And to all of the other countries who have come to our aid, as well!

:blowkiss:

Your welcome :)

Did they say if they sent the D.A.R.T.?

It went all the way to Indonesia and I don't think it was even used there...maybe it is the 45 member search & rescue team mentioned...

Canada is "family" - the one thing GW Bush has ever said that I can applaud.

Unfortunately, I didn't catch everything that they said, so maybe they did send D.A.R.T. also. And oil and a convoy of something that I didn't catch either. Anyway, Canadians are opening their hearts, and wallets and I just wanted to thank our neighbors for that. I live about 20 minutes from the BlueWater Bridge to Canada (London, Ontario area) - I'd say you guys are DEFINITELY my neighbors and I appreciate you all!! :blowkiss:

Thanks for the recognition! We may not be a powerful nation, but we do like to help out in times of need.

I know my children's schools are doing fundraisers for Katrina victims, and our church is gathering teams of 20 to commit to 2 weeks of work with Samaritan's Purse. Also, at many of our retailers, we are asked at the checkout if we would care to donate to various agencies (like the Red Cross) in support of Katrina victims. Our news coverage has been heartbreakingly extensive.

We are hurting for you and trying our best to help out.

Neighbours help neighbours in times of need.

Instead of going to Boston in the fall, my son asked me to donate the money to help the Victims of the Hurricane.

He donated his snack and lunch money ($20) to the Hurricane Relief Fund at his school.

My Club donated the entire proceeds of an evening to the Hurricane Fund.

Remember we are cousins............neighbours and friends.......glad we could help

I saw a man being interviewed that said some Mounties (I think he said) rescued him before FEMA ever got in his area.

He was so greatful and laughingly said "I don't know how they got here, I know it wasn't on horses". I thought it was a cute remark and humor from someone who had just been rescued.

So far so good, but she was sick on the 3rd day - threw up in the school van  they called me at 8:45 and said 'come get her - she is covered in barf' :(

but other than that she is fine and is in love with a boy named Ryan :blushing:

Must have been dog sled....

I agree, it is remarkable to show humour in times of disaster.

Oh no, how awful for Noel, throwing up in the bus. She must have been so embarrassed. Wow, she is in love, how cute..:blushing:

Talking about throwing up....My husband and I went out to dinner today. He hadn't felt very well all weekend. But said I am feeling a little better, I'll take you out to dinner. So we went to Olive Garden, as we are eatting, he says I am feeling very hot, then cold. So we eat. As we are driving home, he is like I feel very sick, I have to throw up... So I said drive faster.. Or pull over..Well we pull up in driveway, he runs in house, and hurls... I am like, we should have saved our money!!!:( And, of course I have my ears plugged, because I can't stand to hear someone throw up...

That is a very bad thing. But I have held my hands forward to people that need to throw up. I will always show a resolve. Sometimes cancer victims cannot be themselves. And if my hands are the ones they need, then my hands are always available.Blessed be the victims and blessed be the ones that whole their heads up.

Its wonderful you can do that. It is bad, I will throw up if someone throws up in front of me... I have a weak stomach I guess. Hearing it makes me want to throw up too...:( I would make a terrible nurse. :(

Noel was very embarrassed :( but at least it was on the way to school and not on the way back (the boy she likes is on the van on the way back)

I would make a good nurse, I can handle vomitting and excrement while eating a sandwich :D
