Two men broke into a Channel Lane home Friday night but “fled immediately” when “confronted” by the homeowner, police said.

Sgt. Pat Sullivan said no further information was being released yesterday because detectives are still gathering evidence in the case. He would not comment when asked if the homeowner confronted them with a gun and would not name the homeowner.

In a news release, police said the men “fled immediately upon being confronted by the homeowner.”

A surveillance camera is mounted above and to the right of the main entrance of his beige sided home situated along the Piscataquog River.

A “No Trespassing” sign is posted on a white picket fence in front of the residence while a decal, with a drawing of a hand holding a revolver pointed outward at a caller, warns:

Neighbor Mary Lou Parker of 22 Channel Lane said she was working when police were at Boisvert’s home Friday night. Her son, she said, told her about it.

In another incident described as a home invasion Thursday, a Fremont man was shot to death at 80 Pine St. in Rochester. The Attorney General’s Office has not commented on reports that the man was shot after he broke into the home.

An autopsy revealed that Bryan Gaedtke, 21, died from a single gunshot to the chest.

The residence is the home of Geoff and Jocelynn Hamann and their two children.

The death was ruled a homicide, but Assistant Attorney General Peter Odom said that does not necessarily mean criminal charges will be brought; rather, the term means one human killed another human.

It's a sad state of affairs when homeowners have to resort to this. Is no one safe in their home anymore? We live in an upscale neighborhood. I was shocked to turn on the TV and read the paper to see that just a few streets over, a home was broken into. It was 6:00 AM, the homeowner, a 51 yr. old man, heard a noise downstairs. When he went downstairs, a man, dressed in a black Ninja outfit, confronted him with a gun. He tied the homeowner up with a rope(I haven't figured out yet how he did that) and held the gun on him, only making off with the man's wallet and a jar full of change.

The robber gained entrance by removing the screen on the sliding patio door, then smashing the glass completely with a rock. The police told me that if someone really wants to get in, they will. I can tell you that ever since, the entire neighborhood is lit up like New Year's Eve! My hubby leaves home at 5:30 AM, and believe me, all the lights here are blazing until the sun comes up.

Just a couple weeks before that, we had the DishTV people come and install their system. I had only been home from the hospital a couple hours. Hubby was upstairs with the supervisor. Unbeknownst to me, the "worker" was downstairs in our kitchen, supposedly setting up that unit. It wasn't until the next day that I discovered my entire wallet - and housekeys - were missing. That was a very scary thought - and I am still picking up the pieces of replacing what was in my wallet.

The following week, someone got into my hubby's car (parked in the driveway) and stole his cell phone, the entire hands free system, and some loose change.

Let's just say, we now keep the .38 in a convenient place!

 And in the earlier case in Rochester, the scumbag chose to break into a home that had a truck in the driveway with the following bumpersticker: "Gun Control means using both hands."
