Seventy-one-year-old Ann Bernice Taylor vanished from her home a week ago Monday, leaving her keys, purse and other personal items inside.

Happened upon this story on this poor lady while following a link on a Taylor Behl story. I pray she is found safe.

Is no one safe in this world? Not taking her purse is not a good sign. If she had gone somewhere with someone she would have taken her purse and keys.
Why would someone have wanted to hurt this lady? Why hasn't her picture been on Nancy or Greta or Catherine Crier. What an attractive lady she is. I wonder if she has family there? I sure hope nothing bad happened to her.

Body Found Last Week Identified as Missing Woman

Friday September 30, 2005

Danville, VA - The Medical Examiner says the body found in the Dan River recently is that of a 71 year old woman who had been reported missing. Two weeks ago, Anne Taylor's family reported her disappearance.

Then, last Friday, Danville police discovered the body of a female in the river near Camelia Williams Park. Police tell us there's no evidence of foul play, but it's still a mystery as to why Taylor's purse, keys, and debit cards were left in her locked home.

Did this lady have a vehicle? If so, where is it? If not, how did she get to the river? Did she have an illness that was terminal....was she depressed? If not, why would she take her own life? I hope LE doesn't just label this a suicide because there is no evidence of foul play. They need to find out what really happened to this lady. To often it is simplier to label a death like this a suicide when there is the chance it wasn't.

Bobbisangel,

After going through several news articles on this case I found one that said the body was found less than a mile from her house. I don't know how deep the Dan river is but I know that the water levels in all of the rivers in that area are very very low right now. It is possible that she could have been taking a walk along the river, slipped and fell in. Maybe hitting her head and then drowned. I can't understand why her keys were found inside of her locked house though. Perhaps she had an extra key and just stuck it in her pocket when she went for a walk, or maybe there is a spare key hidden somewhere outside of her house. It doesn't seem strange to me that her purse was found at home. Most people do not take their purse with them to just go for a walk in their neighborhood. Unless the autopsy shows a cause of death other than drowning I think that this is the theory I will go with.

I think it's possible she accidentally locked herself out of the house, then things unfolded from there.

Like, she went to a neighbor for a key, but the neighbor wasn't home so she decided to take a walk while she was waiting.
