The fourth-grader was at a bus stop waiting with other students for a bus when a car pulled up, officials said.

"She got into a car with him at that time," said Tom Rubel, Ottumsa superintendant. He said the bus stop is located less than a mile from James Elementary.

A police investigation indicates Gloria was taken by Brendan Bhavan Stanley, who had been driving a green four-door 1998 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was recovered this afternoon in northwest Van Buren County, located in southeast Iowa.

Police said Stanley, who is an acquaintance of the family, may be headed to New Mexico.

The Amber Alert for Ottumwa 9 year old, Gloria Bonilla Lopez, has been cancelled. Just got home & read the Ottumwa Courier....it states that Gloria & Brendan Stanley were found in Van Buren County this afternoon. Tomorrow's paper should have more.

:banghead: It never stops...it never freakin stops....something has to be done to put the fear of God into these "things". Actually, since that isn't working, maybe we need to put the fear of a pissed off John Q. Public into them.

Police said Lopez was going to be checked out at a hospital, and then would be reunited with her family in Ottumwa.

There is no word yet on what charges would be filed against Stanley.

I'm glad that she was found and is alright. Sounds like she got into the car with him because she knew him. It's a good thing they were found so soon or that little girl might have found out she didn't know him as well as she thought.

He doesn't have a record for being a sex offender....unless he just never got caught before. Why would a grown man pick up a 9 yr old unless he was up to no good? We know he wasn't giving her a ride to school.

I'm really curious about this one. He did ditch the car. Must have seen the Amber Alert or heard it on the radio. I don't understand why they cancelled the Amber Alert just because he ditched his car. By keeping the Amber Alert going but saying on the radio that the car had been found someone could still have spotted them in a store, fast food place, etc. They should still keep the pictures up. The guy could have gotten another car. He didn't but he could have and then just kept going. Everyone has to gas up at some point. Someone could have recognized them from the pictures if not the car he started out with.

They did send the little girl to the hospital before she reunited with her parents. Often that means that a sex assault kit is needed.

Those words, which mean "Thank you to the police and to God," came from a thankful grandmother, whose 9-year-old granddaughter was found alive after she had been abducted on her way to school Friday morning.

OTTUMWA - In a ruling issued late Monday, District Judge Annette Scieszinski upped accused kidnapper Brendan B. Stanley's cash-only bond to $500,000.
Wapello County Attorney Mark Tremmel filed the bond-review motion Oct. 10, requesting Stanley's $100,000 cash-only bond be increased to $500,000.
Tremmel said Stanley is "an extreme flight risk and if released would be a danger to the safety of the community."

"[Officers said] Stanley had his hands up her shirt ... and was on top of her," Matt said.
Matt also testified Stanley had given the girl some beer, and that he had a .44 caliber black-powder pistol with him in the tent.

Parents really, really have to teach their children to say no to even acquintances...too many of these girls and often Latino girls are way too trusting....parents need to be more proactive and aggressive in teaching their girls about boundaries.....no blame just an observation...so glad she is ok because often after this much time they are dead

My guess is that in another 24 hours she might have been. She was blessed this time.
