Authorities Search For Missing 13-Year-Old Girl In Foster Care

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Family court officials are asking the public to help find a 13-year-old girl missing from foster care, who authorities said may need medication attention.

Megan Jones is described as 5 feet tall and weighing 115 pounds. She has green eyes, a medium build and shoulder-length brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a school uniform: a white-collared shirt, black pants, black sweater and white Air Force One tennis shoes.

Judge David Gooding said that while the girl may have run away, authorities are anxious to find her because she has may need medical care.

Anyone with information about Megan is asked to call Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at (904) 630-0500 or Guardian ad litems Teresa Phoenix at (904) 630-1112 or Helen Spohrer at (904) 630-2708.

The search intensifies for a missing 13 year old Jacksonville girl

She's 13-years-old, and she hasn't been home in more than a month.

Police say she is in more danger now than she was then because she's been without her medication.

Megan Jones never returned home from school back on September 5th. Now police and others want the public's help in finding her.

The streets of Jacksonville can be cold to even the most hardened adult. Megan Jones turned 13 last Friday, but there’s been no celebration.

Jones, who lives with a foster family, disappeared nearly a month ago.

This is not the first time Megan Jones has run away. Judge Gooding says she is a habitual runaway. He said the reason it's taken on such significance this time around is due to her lack of medication and how long she's been missing now.

A missing local girl has been found thanks to a helpful television viewer.

Authorities say 13-year old Megan Jones was found after someone saw her picture on television and filed a report.
