Was the car her parents? Hopefully she is just afraid she is going to get into trouble and is with a friend.
We all pray that is the case.

I know nothing more than is posted on the net, as of yet I have not heard back from anyone, except the detective, who forwarded me the new links. I started with only a few details from an e-mail, that came from her aunt.
Originally, because of her age, she was considered a runaway. This is often the scenerio that LE would like to have us believe, and many times is just not the case....hence Suzanne's Law.
This is now being investigated as a possible forced abduction.
I pray she is ok. I know you are correct, MissMisty, no matter where Christa is, she is ok, because Jesus is holding her. I have to believe she is ok. Thank you all for your prayers, for Christa, and the family who searches for her. I was in contact with several friends in Virginia tonight. It seems they would like to join the search for her, if possible.
johnny, it is my understanding that was her car.
I will post updates when I have them, but also watch her websites.

Here's another article. Not much new, but the article is interesting. It gives information on why Christa was at the mall that day, her emotional state at the mall, and a lady who saw her getting out of the car at an intersection.

I pray Christa is o.k. and just scared to face her parents after skipping school and wrecking the car.

I personally was terrified enough of my mom when I was a child that I would have run away rather than going home. I pray she's somewhere just afraid to go home.

According to the article, Christa's parents have now found out through friends that Christa had boyfriends they didn't know about. Christa's boss at the pizza place says he has seen her with an older man. And whose cell phone was she seen talking on? Her parents say her cell phone had not yet been activated. Maybe her older boyfriend gave her a phone?
I'm wondering if she maybe eventually left because she was afraid to face her parents after skipping school and wrecking the car. Then everything just snowballed and now her parents know about her boyfriends, her cell phone, etc. On top of all that, she might be embarrassed to face her friends now, as well, after so much publicity.

Me too, I was way afraid of both Mom and Dad as a child and through my teenage years. It wasn't until I went away to college and knew I could make a really good life for myself and had a bright future that the fear left.

I don't know. Leaving the key in the ignition, door unlocked with the car on the side of the road seems like a indication that she might not have left of her own will. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.I'm sure the family has another set of keys so if she wanted them to be able to move it she still could have taken hers.

I started out thinking that Christa was just in hiding, afraid to face her parents after skipping school and wrecking the car. Maybe she is with this older boyfriend?
However, it is hard to imagine a girl who really hasn't been in trouble, good student, close to her family, staying away and missing Christmas with her family/ruining Christmas for her family.
LE needs to find out whose cell phone she was using and trace the calls. Who was she talking to when the lady spotted her talking on the cell phone at the intersection? Someone knows something and isn't coming forward.

I wonder why she would pull out her cell phone if it was not activated? that is so odd.
I hope she is a run away afraid of her parents being angry... but to miss Christmas? you think she would contact her sister or something.

has anyone including the police looked thru the neighborhood where the car was found? knocked on doors and talk to people to see if someone saw anything? have the police and other agencies put together a search and rescue team? I know when tabitha tuders went missing the police just said she was a runaway, it wasn't until 11 weeks later that the police and other agencies finally put together a search effort and did searches for about a week off and on. now at the 8 month mark she is still missing. so if the police there seem to be dragging there feet then the people should push and push for a real search effort, after all your tax dollars fund a lot of that. has any searches been done from the air over remote areas, maybe her dad knows of a person with a helicopter since he was a pilot and all that. it still is not to late to call in tracking dogs, even though asphalt areas may or may not have some scent remaining due to cars and such but areas that have grass and vegitation will hold scents for a little over a year. I sure hope she is somewhere on her own accord. to many creeps in this world looking to cause someone harm for there pleasures.. when a loved one goes missing the worst thoughts can consume you. keep the faith that this young lady is safe somewhere. if she ran away where would she go? maybe with the car in the ditch maybe an other motorist came along and saw she was in need of help and offered her a ride to get help. has the car been checked for finger prints to see if " maybe " someone that might have stopped to help her might have touched the car. someone said something about a cell phone, was that hers, or her dads, I did read that the family was going to activate one for her christmas gift. if the family hasn't already done so they should start to find a search and rescue group. the shawn hornbeck foundation in missouri may be of some help, team tabitha in nashville could be of some help, even though these are small groups they have lots of search experience and could offer alot of helpful info. free of charge. my prayers go out to this family and to all her friends and for the young lady herself.

The Rogaliner's have had some great folks helping them since Christa went missing. They have gotten more links in a few weeks, than some do in a few years. This still has not brought Christa home, again.
Please continue to pray for them, and for answers and soon.
If any of you can volunteer to help with anything, please let them know, or you can contact me on how to get in contact with them. All contact information was on her web site, last I looked. Thanks, y'all!

I have been looking and looking at the picture of the car, I am really puzzled about the skid mark, looks like her front left tire caused that mark. seems like I had read about someone saying that a neighbor remembered seeing the car roll into a ditch or something of that effect that was on saturday wasn't it, then was the car in that neighborhood friday night? seems like the sound of a skidding car would have alerted someone. I think that is real strange, unless someone tried to push her out and the tire lost grip. I just am curious, why was it so important for her to skip school if all she had to do was pick up a picture for her sister? I believe there is more to all of this than what we think. I read where she did not currently have a boy friend, maybe she had a friend that she did not say much about. did she use the internet alot at home or public library? It sure is sad that people can't go and do things and not have to worry about some sick minded person coming along to disrupt ones life.

Danny,
Here is a link from a post above. It talks about how her parents did not think she had a boyfriend(s) and now they are finding out from her friends that she did. Her boss at the pizza restaurant says he has seen her with an older man.

with that new info, I wonder if the trip to the mall that day was all orgastrated . maybe this older man put all this together for her to act out to make it look like an abduction. could the people at the pizza place give a discription of the man? it all sounds sorted to me, maybe that could explain her skipping school on that day. I sure hope for everyone involved that she has just made a hasty decision and that she will eventually come to a change of heart over what she has done. too many times these young girls are only thinking of what they want, not giving in to the possibility that an older more mature person could deceive one to thinking that everything will be just fine when in fact there is another side to the whole plan in general. for the parents of younger girls it is worth teaching them the harm caused by others. a good link to a true story of one such story of a young girl caught up in a older man was brought to my attention by my 14 year old daughter as she was surfing the internet. it can be located at www.netsmartz.org/flash/index.html this is a site for children, the link within the page is " amys choice "

Somebody knows something about Christa! Maybe the police need to appeal publicly for Christa's boyfriend(s) to come forward. I really feel like one of her boyfriends (maybe the older one the owner of the pizza restaurant saw her with) got her the phone. Even if they didn't get the phone for her, they surely know the number. I mean, she was talking to somebody that day she disappeared! Who was it? I can't believe none of these boyfriends has come forward. You really would think that whoever she was speaking with on the phone after she got stranded at that intersection (when the witness says she saw her talking on the phone) would have come forward by now if they did not have info regarding Christa...

I was also thinking of the cell phone which she was seen talking on, the phone in which her parents was going to activate for her christmas, did she have the phone already or was the phone itself going to be the gift? I was thinking that if she had the phone could she have had it activated at the mall the day she went to pick up a picture? I agree the older man may have given her his phone to use when ever she wanted? has any of her friends seen her with a cell phone? maybe at school or something? were there not any cameras in the pizza hut that may have her talking to someone by some stroke of luck? and the other puzzling think is about her dads car. did a neighbor see her on the phone when the car was already in the ditch? or was that like the next day for it to be found in the ditch, was there any reason that she had car trouble other than the tire out of balance . did any one see someone drive up to pick her up.? I'am sure maybe those question all may have come to mind, but I like most of us at websleuths the more thinking caps we use the better chance a missing child might be located. I really hope she is ok, with this much time gone by makes it hard to wonder if she is where she wants to be or that someone is keeping her from leaving. lets all pray she comes home soon..

I agree the older man may have given her his phone to use when ever she wanted? has any of her friends seen her with a cell phone?I think the phone is really important. The only thing... Cell phones can still call 911 even if they aren't "active" yet. Maybe this really was her own phone, the one her parents claim wasn't activated, and she was using that 911 feature. At least I hope so, because that way 911 would have a record of her call. ?

Here's a new article on Christa's disappearance. It doesn't have new info, but it does talk about how Christa withdrew $200 from her bank account - I believe using an ATM machine. Questions - First, if she did withdraw the money from an ATM, did the machine have a video recording of Christa making the withdrawal. Second, how did she pay for the picture she picked up from Bombay? If she paid in cash, how much was the picture? Did she really need to withdraw such a large amount? She only has $25 or so left in the account after the $200 withdrawal. If she did not pay with cash, or if she had a large amount left over after paying for the picture, this makes me think she might have been planning to run away to avoid a confrontation over wrecking the car, taking the car without permission, and skipping school.
The article does say that the police think the reason the keys were left in the car is Christa did not know that the transmission must be in park in order to remove the keys. This is the reason the car rolled into the ditch, they think.

after reading the article, I for myself can't really believe that if the car just rolled into the ditch I don't think it would leave the skidmark in the angle that it did. I think that she may have realized she was going the wrong way that she attempted to back up in a rush to turn around and then realized that there was the ditch, by that time I'm sure she hit the brake and the car slid on in the ditch. I really can't understand why if a neighbor saw her talking on a cell phone and it appeared she was in need of some help, why didn't anyone assist this young lady? if they had I'am almost sure she would be at home safe.. I sure hope that she is found safe. I may have overlook some of the news on her dissappearence, but is there any active searchs going on? and does anyone know how far from any part of the smokies mountains is from leesburg? and after reading here on websleuths about a man found in a grain silo, is there any of those around? is there any known abandoned property within the leesburg area that may have ground wells?

Reward Offered For Teen’s Safe Return
Dan**Telvock
Jan 22, 2004 -- A $5,000 reward is being offered by a private foundation to anyone who can provide information that leads to the safe return of a Leesburg teenager who has been missing for more than one month.
Christa Rogaliner, 17, has not been seen since Dec. 12, when employees at Bombay Company remembered her shopping at the Dulles Town Center mall. Rogaliner was driving her parent’s greenish Ford station wagon without their permission that day and it was found in Fairfax County near the Shaker Woods subdivision with the keys in the ignition and a present for her older sister on the back seat. The Leesburg Police Department is treating the investigation as a missing persons case and has stated there was no evidence of an abduction.
The Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation is offering the reward. Executive Director Kim Petersen said that the foundation was formed in honor of Carole and Juli Sund and Silvina Pelosso, the three woman who turned up missing and were later found murdered near Yosemite National Park in February 1999. Carole Sund’s parents, Francis and Carole Carrington, started the foundation.
“This foundation was established to assist families such as the family of Christa Rogaliner, who are in similar circumstances as the Carrington’s in that Christa is a missing person, ” Petersen said. “ ... We know reward money can make a difference because the foundation’s reward money has already assisted in the location of three missing persons and the apprehension of 18 murder suspects and one child molester/attempted murderer.”
Leesburg Today has reported to investigators two statements sent to the newspaper’s Web site claiming that Rogaliner had discussed with one or more persons the possibility of running away a few days before she disappeared.
“We are still treating this as a missing person and in no way are classifying her as a runaway,” Leesburg Police Lt. Jeff Dube.
Anyone with information on this case can call Leesburg Police Detective Sgt. John Smith at 703-771-4500, or if you wish to remain anonymous, call 703-443-TIPS.

I don't understand why police want to say " we are still treating this as a missing persons case" even if she ran away she is still missing and I feel that the person she contacted owns the cell phone and gave it to her to use whenever she needed. and now she has gotten into something that she can't get out of I am sure this person is keeping her from making contact and telling her that he will take care of her. I think by now she would get a little home sick and at least call a friend or even her mom and dad. runaway or abducted, she is still missing and could be in harms way. :twocents:

I can't believe that she would not tell her parents that she wrecked the car! What kind of parents would not understand that? Why the fear? I bet she ran away because of abuse. Just my guess.
