View Full Version : Huntley
Ian Huntley had been investigated 10 (yes 10) times by Humberside police for 3 rape allegations and 7 cases of having sex with underage girls.
As he was never convicted of any of these crimes they were nhot entered on the national police Computer that is used to perform background checks on workers who want to be employed around children.
despite this history he was able to get employment as a school caretaker. I am not sure how much of this you will get in the USA/Canada now the case is over but it is at the heart of the case.
Any decent police intelligence system would have had Huntkey banged up years ago and Holly and Jessica would still be with us.
It is High time that the UK had a national police force, we are only the size of say California and have 26 county forces that do not seem to speak to each other. Heads will roll over this starting with the chief constable of Humberside who was on TV last night trying to blame "inadequate systems".

Hopefully you do get some reform Hugh... Unfortunately, it takes a tragedy to get action.
As over here, and Alphonso Rodriguez, who allegedly kidnapped and probably murdered Dru Sjodin, a convicted sex offender, kidnapper, rapist, was released from prison and 4 months later committed this crime.
Balancing civil rights for people, and danger to other people is indeed very difficult.
here is some of what is going on over here..

The police must keep better records, the government has said amid calls for the vetting system to be overhauled.

I know Hugh its disgusting.
A fantastic teacher who got caught smoking pot in the sixties can't get clearance to teach in a school, yet creeps like Huntley slip through the net.
Its bloody disgusting, and something needs to change.

Huntley fails his 3rd suicide attempt!
HUNTLEY was stretchered out of prison as fellow inmates jeered: “Let the b*****d die.”
A source said: “The ambulance arrived around 5pm.
They tried to get staff to volunteer to go to the hospital with him because no one wanted to go.
Finally he was carried out on a chair stretcher.
“Inmates in the healthcare wing were shouting, ‘Let the b*****d die, let him die’.”

More abuse for Huntley I think!

SOHAM killer Ian Huntley last night faced running a gauntlet of hate after being put into the main wing of a jail.
He had been in a private cell for seven years to keep him away from other lags and give him round-the-clock protection.
But he is now in the regular maximum security wing at Frankland Jail near Durham.
It is the first time he has been close to normal prisoners since his arrest in 2002 for the murders in Soham, Cambs, of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
There have been two attempts by other lags to kill him.
Former caretaker Huntley, 34, has also been under special watch after three suicide bids.
In one attempt at Woodhill Prison, Bucks, in 2003 he downed 32 anti-depressants.
He took another massive overdose in 2006 in Wakefield Jail, West Yorks.
A source told The Sun: "He's now on his own. He's had it cushy for so long. This is going to be a shock for him."
A senior jail insider said: "We do not expect Huntley to be at any greatly increased risk of an attack."
