I can't find any of the books at Walden or at Hastings. May I borrow someone's books? I promise that I will keep them in perfect order and will pay postage both ways. :D

Try ebay for the out of print books. I think Hush Little Babies is still in print. You can order it from Walden or from Amazon online if you prefer.

I did look up the book her mother wrote on ebay about a year ago. It was out of print and someone wanted 80 dollars for it! I thought ...yeah right! :loser: Which are the best books to buy in your opinion. :D

I didn't know her mother wrote a book. What is it called and where can I find it???
I read all three and bought CWB's Media Tried Justice Denied for the photos. When you see them in the book, you can see how distorted the ones on the websites are from enlarging them too much.
Each book offers a different perspective. I liked Patricia Springer's the best, esp the last half because she gives the best look at what was going on in and around the courtroom. Some behind the scenes stuff, too. Barbara Davis quotes a lot of people that you can't get in the other books. It is written very well. Don Davis is the lightweight of the three but it too adds something unique to it. He is very objective and also very critical of the trial proceedings, but I think that is because the character testimony and the testimony brought to show frame of mind, financial stressors, etc. are only separated by a very thin line and even cross over in a couple of areas confusing the issues. However, he has more experience with trials than I do, so I have to at least allow that he could be right in areas I am not familiar with. I guess the fed CCA will clear that up sometime soon.
My advice is read all three of the books, and buy the fourth only for the pictures. (The writing is very poor and the theories out there in left field.)

I also heard about a book written by a guy named Dalton. Anyone ever heard of it? I think it might be self published.

The cheapest cost of Media Tried Justice Denied is 87.33 plus shipping. I won't be getting that book! I found Flesh and Blood for 3.75 plus shipping. Hush Little Babies for 6.99 plus shipping. Precious Angels is 14.19 plus shipping. I guess I will start with the Precious Angels and Hush Little Babies.

I can't stand to have them out of my sight though. They are right by my computer at all times. For some reason I had 2 copies of MTJD. I gave one of them to cami. Too bad I didn't know you needed one before. I could have started a great big bidding war between the 2 of you. Hee hee..check every now and then on Ebay for MTJD. I've seen it cheaper on there at times.

Hi,
I've got a copy of MTJD, if you'd like to see it. I say "see" it because it really isn't worth reading. The book is so poorly written, it's an effort to wade your way through it. The crime scene/autopsy photos are the only real reason for getting it.
I purchased this particular copy on Ebay directly from Mama Darlie for $26.00. (No way I'd pay 80-100 for this book, even with the photos.) When it arrived, the cover was dirty, the book (supposedly new) was beaten up, and a full section of it had been inserted upside down by the printer.
I'd try to sell it, just to get my money back out of it, but I'd feel like I was ripping people off.
Anyway, if you'd like it, I'll pass it on to you free of charge on one condition--that you not resell it or give it away to someone who is not part of Websleuths. When you're done, just make it available to another Websleuther as I'm doing for you.
There's no reason someone should have to spend big bucks on this thing.
One special bonus. The book's autographed by Mama Darlie herself. ;)
PM me with your address if you're interested.

Oh man absolutely. I've never felt so good in my life. I keep calling it the fountain of youth. It probably has more to do with my quitting smoking than anything else. My emotions are no longer stunted by nicotine, LOL.

aaaaaaaahahahahahahah i feel so good I could body slam two mountain men.
I think the quitting gave me a huge boost in confidence because I never thought I could do it and now here I am a non-smoker.
Cami's thought for the day:
Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Cami - I'm not a big poster here in the Darlie forum, but LOVE to read here. Congrats on being on non-smoker!!! I bet you do feel great!!! I've never smoked, but my hubby does and I'd give anything for him to quit.
Also, thanks for the laugh on the slinkies! Priceless!!

LOl, isn't it. Thanks for the congrats. I am pretty proud of myself. I smoked for 35 years! And yes I do feel great. My hair shines, my eyes are bright, my skin colour is nice and rosy, my teeth are white and I can walk again. Smoking is suicide as far as I am concerned now. It's a lose lose propostion. I've tried for years to quit the dang things, this was my third serious attempt. What it came down to for me was not wanting to put another cigarette in my mouth. I did have help, I joined a program at our local hospital for the insane, in their addiction centre, but I can't get over how easy it was to quit. I should have done it years ago.
All you can do is pray your husband will quit when he's ready. I'll pray for him too.

That's AWESOME!!! Good for you!!! My mother-in-law smoked up to 3 packs a day for 44 years and quit cold turkey 5 years ago. She has done great and I've been so proud of her. She's gone through the same things as you - more energy, skin looks good, eyes, etc.
Hubby has cut back considerably. He smokes about a 1/2 pack daily. Hopefully he will keep dwindling it down to nothing.
Thanks for the prayers!

Please don't take my comment personally. If you knew the history of that book and how many devoted Darlie posters were dying to get a copy, you'd understand why my first concern would be that they get first dibs. :) :) :) Hope I didn't sound harsh or rude, just taking care of my peeps. ;)

Congrats! My husband stopped smoking several years ago after having knee surgery. He couldn't smoke in the hosp. and was forbidden by doc. to smoke for 6 weeks after surgery, so after that he decided to become smoke free. He smoked a pipe. Yesterday I received some "Maxine" books in the mail that I had ordered from eBay. The moment I opened the package I could smell the smoke. I intend to read them because I love Maxine but I want to air them out for a week or so. Don't know quite how to do that though. I got off track. Just wanted to tell you congrats.

I was looking at this thread for names of books to look for at the library since this forum has gotten me interested in reading true crime books. Won't the library order any of the books if a request is made?

I don't know but the names of the books are:
Hush Little Babies by Don Davis
Flesh and Blood by Patricia Springer
Precious Angels by Barbara Davis
Media Tried, Justice Denied by Christopher Wayne Brown
The only one still in print is Hush Little Babies
MTJD is self published so it is available thru the author sometimes.
You might also try ebay. People selling their copies sell them there sometimes.
