7-Month-Old Girl Hospitalized; O'Fallon Police Have Visited Home More Than 60 Times
KSDK-A 7-month-old baby girl is in critical condition after being beaten on Christmas Eve. The infant lives with her 16-year-old mother and her 19-year-old live-in boyfriend in the 800 block of Trudy Lane. They live in the basement while the baby's grandparents and four other children live upstairs.
On Christmas Eve at 8AM, police were called to the house because the infant was unresponsive. O'Fallon, Missouri Police Detective Lawrence McClain said, "On the morning of the incident, the mother of the child went upstairs to take a shower. The boyfriend came running upstairs, we're told, with the baby saying, 'Something is wrong, call 9-1-1.' "

Ok, just when I thought it couldn't get much worse after I read about the 6 year old being beaten on Christmas ... and CERTAINLY not to take anything away from that horrendous crime .... BEATING AN INFANT?
The cops went over there MORE THAN SIXTY TIMES?
UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE.

Hopefully, the baby will recover and this incident will be her ticket out of there. It seems like she's still young enough to have a good chance at being adopted and live a normal life.

Yeah, but what about the four other kids upstairs? They've got to be at least neglected, possibly abused as well. If the cops are over there 60+ times, someone's either doing drugs or alcohol in abundance. That, and the very probable fighting amongst the adults, is reason enough to get all of those kids out of there now.

That part of the story is curious. The story said 8 of the 60 calls were for domestic violence.
What were the othe 52? It's hard to understand that part.

The other four kids upstairs are the siblings to the mother of the infant. At least that's the way I read the story.

That's what I thought too. I just got the feeling that they were all like one beehive of b.s. and fighting. (could be wrong)

Nope, probably not wrong. I think that's the case too. It said the mother of the infant is 16. Wonder how old the siblings are? The article also said that a neighbor had turned them into the Department of Family Affiars... wonder why they didn't take any action? If LE had been out there 60 times - you'd think they'd have done something. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I don't know Julies, but I'd like for them to sterilize these two now.

I can't grasp this family situation. It appears an older couple, with an intact long marriage and their 5 kids live in the house. Along with an illegitimate baby of their teenage daughter and her boyfriend who is technically committing a felony having sex with her. But he lives there regardless of that detail. Meanwhile the boy who is too old to legally be her boyfriend is breaking the babies arms and legs and no one seems to care or notice.
The house itself is a trim, neat middle class home.
The cops have been called 60 times in 5 years, 8 of them for domestic violence and 52 other times for I can't imagine what.
Can all these details really be correct? This makes no sense to me. None. I'm just not seeing that this is really the situation. Fathers who maintain normal appearing well cared for homes don't usually allow for this kind of situation to go on under their noses.
OOPS, SCRATCH THAT. The age of consent in Missouri, with parental consent, is 15 years old. I guess that guy is well within his rights to be living there in the basement with a 16 year old girl who already has one illigitimate baby.

They lived in the basement of the home that beloned to one of their parents. While they may have had a long term marriage/relationship, we don't know if its a good one.

As I understand it Jeanna they live in the home WITH both parents. I've worked with pregnant teens for years, and I've gotta say this is quite atypical. For a teenage girl's father to allow a young man to come live in the house with the teenage girl and brutalize the baby over a period of time - is really unusual. In my observation. So unusual that I think the details of this story may not be correct.
(could the "baby's grandparents" be the baby's father's parents? And they let her live in the basement so the baby would have a place to stay? I still can't imagine them allowing the baby to be abused by this boy)

That's what I mean darlin. Her parents may be booze or drug addicted. There's not a normal family upstairs and these teens downstairs with a baby. The whole house is most likely nuts and/or drug/alcohol addicted. Just because her parents have been together a long time, that doesn't make it a healthy relationship.

Yet another poor, innocent victim of child abuse. In the state of Illinois, no doubt. As a matter of fact, very, very close to where the 6-year old was found dead in his home due to abuse. Do these cops not know how to do their job? What is the problem? Why were the police over at the home more than 60 times, and yet didn't take even one child out of this situation? There is a real problem here when police aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing....protecting the lives of the innocent. I'm so peeved about all these child abuse cases!!!!!!! :furious: :furious: :furious:

I'm not saying it's a healthy relationship. Obviously there are weird things going on in that household.
I'm having a very hard time cobbling these pieces of this story together. The house looks like retired military - neatly kept, lower middle class. NOT the kind of home where a father would allow his teenager to bring a boyfriend to live.
That the boyfriend abused the baby is extremely typical. Every single day babies are brutalized by boyfriends of mothers. Sad, but typical.
This is neither here nor there, and so I guess my curiousity is going nowhere, but if this turns out to be her actual bioparents, living in that same pictured household, I'll eat my hat. That is NOT typical.

"One neighbor who didn't want to be interviewed told NewsChannel 5 he was not surprised by what happened and that he has reported the family to the Department of Family Services many times in the past."
This statement from the link PM provided says to me there are issues with the whole family. "many time in the past" .... I wonder how far back in the past? It makes me think longer than 7 months.
I sure hope this baby survives intact and is forever removed these so-called "parents". After her horrible beginning in life, she deserves a loving family to care for her.
ETA: The boy is not even the baby's biological father. "So far police have not made arrests. But they are trying to find the baby's biological father. Police say he is not a suspect, but police want to notify him of what happened to his baby."

If you pause the video, you can read the police printout. Looks like there was a lot of PSR Public Service, runaway teen, attempted suicide, disturbing the peace, fireworks, suspicious activity, all goes back to 2001.

Thanks , JLJ. When I watch the video it's too grainy to actually read the list.
What's "PSR Public Service?"
Interesting, the house in the video is a different house than was in the still picture of the house. Does anyone else remember seeing a well-kept home in the first edition of the story? The photo is gone now.

Katherine, I wasn't able to view the video. I'm hoping they'll show this on television and I'll be able to see.
for posting most of this story, webtv cannot do the video. This is sickening!! If this happened where I live anyone under 18yrs. would have been removed pronto. The "boyfriend" should be in jail. girl should be in a reformatory until she is 18! At 16 she has a baby and now living with another guy? Where the he** are the authorities in that City? Unless the baby has the real fathers name she should be taken away from the mother and placed for adoption. I hope there is a follow up on this case.Yes they both should be castrated!
