Muskogee officials continue search for missing girl
,
ASSOCIATED PRESS
MUSKOGEE, Okla. Muskogee County law enforcement officers continued their search today of a pond near Summit for the remains of a Muskogee teenager missing since 1997.
Officers and county workers today used a pump to drain water from part of the swamp pond.
About 15 officers walked through the horseshoe-shaped pond looking for clues in the disappearance of Jamie Michelle McChurin.
McChurin was 16 at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen March 18th, 1997, sitting on the porch of a friend's house talking to her friend's mother. She had just finished work at the Muskogee Tastee-Freez.
The pump was used to drain an area where an assault rifle was found.
Cadaver dogs made several hits Thursday and Friday as they fanned out over the pond. Recovered from the mud bottom were a 10-inch bone, the rifle, a magazine clip and eight shells.......snip
