Police will seek kidnapping and other charges on Tuesday against the father who allegedly kidnapped his 1-year-old daughter from her mother’s apartment in Bel-Ridge on New Year’s Day, then returned her after authorites sounded an Amber Alert.
St. Louis County Police officers arrested Michael Donovan, 19, of St. Charles, at a friend’s home in Spanish Lake. He was being held at the St. Louis County Jail on a burglary charge from an unrelated case.
About 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Donovan allegedly broke out a window at the baby’s home in the 9100 block of Torchlamp Lane, entered the apartment and took the child after striking the girl’s mother in the face. The abduction touched off an onslaught of publicity that resulted in the safe recovery of the child.
