I wonder if Lisa had been missing for awhile or just over night? How sad. She is so young. I wonder if she was married or had children? My heart goes out to her family. I hope they find the person who decided that Lisa didn't have the right to live.

Joel Keith Porter has been arrested for her murder.

Turns out he served a 20 yr sentence, for shooting a police officer in 1982

She was his exgirlfriend.

DECATUR, Ala. (AP) — A Decatur man hanged himself in the Morgan County Jail after scrawling a note on his cell wall confessing to his ex-girlfriend's murder.

Joel Keith Porter's body was discovered by a guard Tuesday night along with the message about the killing of Lisa Michelle Sullivan of Athens, whose mostly nude body was found floating in the Tennessee River last month.

Porter, 45, was charged with the murder of Sullivan, 27, and the jail suicide occurred after a court hearing in which he was accused of torturing and strangling her.

Hunters found Sullivan's body in a shallow backwater of the river Jan. 14. Authorities said she was strangled with rope before being dumped in the river. Police said Porter suspected Sullivan was cheating on him, but could not prove it.

Porter's cellblock note also gave the date and time of Sullivan's murder.
