Go to this website and type in your home address. After a few moments, a
map pops up with your home in the center and the neighborhoods that surround
it. All of the little colored boxes you see around your home represent a
registered sex offender's home. If you click on any of the boxes, you can
get more info on the sex offender, including type of crime, a photo and
their exact address.

ETA, Scandi, this isn't ass backwards. It gives the name of the person when you find one in your neighborhood. There is one so close to me I could throw a rock and hit his house. And, he's closer to the school than to me!

Has anyone else found anyone near your home that would worry you? I am going to find out if the man near me and my granddaughter's school is still there and if he is, I'm going to let the school know. A lot of these kids walk right by his house.

Thanks BeeBee, Unfortunately I was met with : "Oregon does not currently publicize the registered sex offenders living within the state. Consequently, we are unable to provide any information about Oregon's sex offender population". It did way tht by July 1st of this year Oregon will be changing this to where they will be publicized.

Good luck on finding info about the guy near you!

scandi, Unfortunate is the word. Every state should have had this a long time ago. I was amazed to find a sex offeder so close to home. We have our share of teenagers who think they're "gangsta's" but I never realized there was perv living so close.

Great, I have an offender NEXT DOOR - We're talking NEXT DOOR! He's on one side of me, the elementary school is on the other side! Kids walk past his house every morning and every afternoon.

I'm VERY upset - but thanks for the link. I'm leaving work early to speak with the school!

The only good thing is, he's recovering from open heart surgery (he's bedridden at the moment).

And there's another offender about 10 houses down the street. I had checked the meagan's law website and these guys were not there when we purchased our home 2.5 years ago.

Don't let the neighborhood fool you - we live in a middle/upper class one. You just never know I guess.

Need to call hubby - I want to move! :eek:

What are the restrictions on offenders living close to public schools? I've mapped six within 3 blocks of the primary school, and they are all level 3s.

I think the laws on proximity to schools differ from state to state and maybe community to community.

Not only did I find out I have a sex offender at the end of my street but he is my friends father!!! I had no idea!

OMG the map lit up like a Christmas tree! I went to High School with one of them. He was odd back then, now I know why.
You know, looking at the pictures of these a-holes, I would not know that they weren't just normal Joe's if I passed them in the grocery store. Which I probably do now and then!!!
