Kelly, 16, and her friend Ermelinda "Ermie," 14, were last seen leaving Ermie's home in Mesa, Arizona on August 24, 1984, to go to a party. Ermie's mother reported them missing two days later. The day after that, their bodies were found in a remote area off Beeline Highway, north of Mesa. They had been dead between one and two days. One body was nude and the other partially nude. Both Kelly and Ermie had been suffocated. Police also believe they were sexually molested but could not prove that due to the decomposition of their remains.
