Went missing in 1999, from a Tacoma bowling alley. A tip has been recieved that a girl living in Dallas is the same child. The girl's family is cooperating with authorities, and has provided records for the girl, so authorities are discounting the tip. But in the interest of thoughness, DNA testing is being performed. The missing girl's mother has seen pictures of the child, and says that she sees a resemblance and she is hopeful.

I did a search, but didn't find a thread for Teeka's Story.
FBI Checking Dallas Girl To See If She's Teekah Lewis (http://www.komotv.com/news/story_m.asp?ID=43140)
TACOMA - The FBI is working a tip that a girl missing from Tacoma for seven years might be alive, although they caution they don't think the tip is going to pan out.
Teekah Lewis was taken from a Tacoma bowling alley in January 1999 and there's been no sign of her since. But now her mother says she might be living in Dallas.
"This is the greatest tip we've had in 7 years," said Teekah's mother Theresa English.
English has always believed her daughter Teekah is alive, but now for the first time, she really believes Teekah may be coming home. Her prayers gave way to hope two weeks ago when Theresa's private investigator got a tip that Teekah may be living with a woman in Texas.

Okay, I looked and I got the names mixed up....sorry about the confusion, thought it was the same person.
Teresa English, Teekah's mother, says she remembers her as a happy child with a dazzling smile. It's a smile that disappeared 8 years ago when Teekah vanished.
"She was there, I looked back she was gone," says English.
Teekah, just a toddler, was snatched from a bowling alley in Tacoma. Since then, it's been 8 years of crying, praying and waiting.
"She needs to come home, the people need to let her go," English said. "It's been 8 long years and pain for my family!"
Teresa's certain that Teekah is alive, and says the missing Missouri boys discovered over the weekend make her believe it can happen again.
"Every child that is found out there it just makes me think my child is one day closer to coming home," insists English.
On January 23, it will be 8 years since Teekah went missing and no one has given up on her, especially her mother. The FBI, Tacoma Police Department, the Center for Missing and Exploited Children still want to find her, but on this day there are no leads, only renewed hope.

I assume this tip did not pan out?I don't think the Dallas girl was Teekah. Here's a seperate thread on that tip:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39059&highlight=teekah+lewis
The mother of another missing Tacoma child, Teekah Lewis, was at the Linnik home Friday to support the dead child's family.
Teekah was 2 when she disappeared from Frontier Bowling Lanes in Tacoma about 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 23, 1999. The girl's mother, Theresa Lewis, told police she saw her daughter standing near the lanes' video games. When she looked back, Teekah was gone.
Despite a massive media campaign, a 24-hour tip line and extensive interviews with people who were at the lanes that night, no suspect has emerged.
In 2001, Theresa Lewis was asked to provide a DNA sample to match against the body of an unidentified dead child found in Kansas City, Mo. The child was not Teekah.
In April 2006, Lewis was notified by a private investigator that he had found a girl he believed to be Teekah living with a woman in Dallas. The investigator, who was hired by the Lewis family more than a year earlier, sent her photos of the girl, she said.
But DNA testing proved the girl was not Teekah.
For a woman who has never stopped hoping, and who replays her last morning with her daughter in her head constantly, the announcement Friday was sobering.
There had been other false alarms, but this time Lewis braced herself for the worst.
"It's never been this close. And now it's here," she said.
Thinking about her next step — how she'll prepare mentally for the possibility that her daughter is dead, how she'll tell Teekah's siblings — Lewis started weeping.
"I don't know, I don't even know," she said, speaking from her mother's home, where a banner hanging outside said "MISSING" and a sign on a van issued this appeal: "Have you seen Teekah?"
Lewis doesn't want to imagine that this might be the end she most dreaded, but added that the anguish is mixed with some relief.
"It would be a lot easier if I had closure," she said.

I use to live in Tacoma, about 2 miles away from that bowling alley.Moved there in October of 1999 and everytime I drove by there I would cry.I really wish a break in the case would happen. My prayers as always with Teekah and her family.
In hopes of solving the mysterious disappearance of Teekah Lewis, detectives are releasing new photos and home video of the Tacoma youngster, who went missing from a bowling alley nine years ago today.
“It’s time to bring her home,” Tacoma police detective Brad Graham said recently. “Nine years … hopefully, that’s loosened up someone’s vocal cords.”
The Christmas photos show the 21/2-year-old with bangs and smiling, giving her a different look than the picture of the serious-faced girl that was released at the time Teekah went missing. On the video, she is playing and making noises for the camera at a family Christmas celebration 28 days before her disappearance.
“Look into that picture,” Teekah’s mother, Theresa Lewis, pleaded in a recent interview. “There is somebody out there that remembers something that night and they need to come forward.”

Ten years ago, Teekah Lewis vanished from a Tacoma bowling alley.
The 21/2-year-old girl was last seen playing near a coin-operated racing game as her family bowled nearby at New Frontier Lanes the night of Jan. 23, 1999. Police suspect a stranger might have snatched Teekah but have never had a description to release.
Her mother says 10 years is long enough for the mystery to go unsolved.
“My daughter has been missing for almost 10 years, and it’s time to find my little girl,” Theresa Lewis said this week. “It’s time for someone to speak out.”
Teekah’s family will hold a candlelight vigil at 7 tonight in the parking lot of the former bowling alley at 4702 S. Center St.
“I wish everybody would come out for this,” Lewis said. “We need all the support we can get.”
The investigation into Teekah’s disappearance remains ongoing. Last year, police released new photos and video of the child taken shortly before she disappeared.
In October, Teekah became the latest missing child featured as part of the Homeward Bound program. The Washington State Patrol and Gordon Trucking of Pacific launched the program in 2006 to help find missing children.
Under the program, photos of 15 missing children have been featured on the sides of Gordon Trucks, which travel the nation’s highways. Lenoria Jones, a 4-year-old girl who went missing from Tacoma in 1995, also has been featured.
Police received a few tips from the efforts but none was substantial, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said this week.
Lewis said 10 years have gone by fast.
“She should be home,” the mother said. “My baby is almost 13 years old. I’ve missed 10, 11 birthdays. It’s just unbelievable.”
Lewis pleaded for anyone with information to come forward. Or, just let Teekah go.
“All we want is her back,” she said. “Drop her off somewhere. Just drop her off.”

I don't think it's coincidence that Lenoria Jones, also an African-American toddler (4 y/o) disappeared from the area only four years prior. I think there is an abductor out there who targets African American children.
I wonder if Zina Linnik's murderer and the person of interest in Adre'Anna Jackson's case - Terapon Adhahn - has been considered.
I hope little Teekah can be found. :(

The family of a Tacoma girl missing for 11 years will gather tonight for a candlelight vigil.
The remembrance for Teekah Lewis will start at 7 p.m. at the site where she disappeared – 4702 S. Center St. – the former New Frontier Lanes bowling alley. (The bowling alley was razed several years ago.)
“Another year gone,” Teekah’s mother, Theresa Lewis, said this week.

But mother Theresa Lewis said she received a new tip at the annual vigil for the missing girl last weekend, which she relayed to the police.
Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said investigators have spoken to the tipster, whom he only described as an "area man." Fulghum said the tip prompted police to begin digging at the Rhododendron Garden at Point Defiance Park.

Search for missing Tacoma girl proves fruitless
A stranger's "vision" about a Tacoma girl who was snatched from a bowling alley 11 years ago prompted police to search a section of Point Defiance Park on Wednesday.
But it was a fruitless search that got Tacoma detectives no closer to unraveling the mystery of what happened to little Teekah Lewis, a 2-year-old who vanished during a family outing on Jan. 23, 1999.
[snip]
The search "didn't turn up anything that would help us," Fulghum said Thursday. "They left last night just before dark, and we're not going back out today."
At this point, the tip is a dead end, though detectives will likely re-interview the man who had the vision, Fulghum said. He couldn't say if the man is a psychic, but Fulghum said he doesn't appear to have any connection with the case.

Lindsey's Day spotlights families of missing
[snip]
Saturday’s event, Lindsey’s Day of Hope and Awareness, was a gathering to support not only Lindsey’s families but all families with missing children. Friends and family of Nancy Moyer, the Tenino woman who disappeared 15 months ago, also participated, as did Theresa Lewis of Tacoma, the mother of Teekah Lewis, who disappeared at a Tacoma arcade bowling alley in January 1999.
Teekah turns 14 on July 4, she said.
“I told her I would be right back,” Theresa recalled about that night. She next remembers seeing her daughter in the arcade, and then she was gone.
[snip]
Lewis told the audience that her heart goes out to everyone who has a missing child.
“Teekah was my world, my everything. That person stole my heart from me,” she said about Teekah’s abductor. “Life is so empty without her.”

Well, the odd thing about this "vision" is that Pt Defiance Park was also the site of the disappearance of Wallace Guidroz in 1983. 1983 was way before 1999 when Teekah Lewis disappeared, but I have seen articles in the local papers postulating whether some person or group has been taking African American children from the Tacoma area for decades.

1999 Child Kidnapping Case Gets Fresh Look
The mother of a toddler who disappeared from a Washington state bowling alley more than 12 years ago is hoping renewed interest in the case will result in new leads.
"I have been through hell in the years since she has been gone," Theresa Lewis told AOL News. "My daughter vanished out of thin air and nobody knows anything. All I want is closure. I need to know what happened to my daughter."
[snip]
Lewis does not believe Adhahn had anything to do with her daughter's disappearance and said she still feels her daughter is alive today. She suspects Teekah could be in Florida and thinks a former acquaintance could have snatched the little girl.
"Prior to Teekah's disappearance, [this individual's] mother asked me if she could have her," Lewis said. "She did not have a girl. I told her no way, she is my daughter. Then, Teekah comes up missing. I've not heard from him since March 1999. Never once has he got in touch with me in the last 12 years to check on things."
Aguirre said that in 2009 investigators had "a person of interest in Florida" and went there to speak with that individual. She did not elaborate on what, if anything, was learned.
[snip]
HLN's Nancy Grace will cover the girl's disappearance on her new show, "Nancy Grace: America's Missing." The show debuted last month and has a goal of "finding 50 people in 50 days." The episode featuring Teekah is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. EST Friday.

Who can forget the smiling face of beautiful 2-year-old, Teekah Lewis? She was with her family, out for a night of fun, at a bowling alley when she disappeared just 10 feet away from her mother.
Her mother looked away for what she says was just seconds to watch her brother bowl. When she turned back around, her daughter was missing. Immediately, she searched high and low for Teekah who was shy and frightened of strangers. The security guard even made an announcement to everyone at the 32 lane alley to be on the look out, but somehow despite being a packed bowling alley no one saw what happened to the girl. Thirteen years later police say Teekah’s case is a cold case. There are no suspects, and nothing to currently go off of that could lead them to the toddler.

Kimster I totally agree with you!! I agree with the mother if the child screamed and would only go to certain people then I totally think it was someone that the child possibly knew or that she was lured some how.
Also I tell you what the more I hear about kids missing the more I fear for MYSELF because I get all the time that I look 13. Just as recent as yesterday I got told by someone that they thought I was 13 years old. I was with my friend(the mother of the kids I babysit) we had to drive an hour away to take some stuff to her house because she is moving from here and back to her house. We had stopped in at her friends place and he asked me how old I was, she wanted him to guess, but on accident told how old I was(I am 26 BTW) and the guy was like "I thought you were 13." I smiled and said I get that all the time. I mean I went to Maryland in 2008 and got handed a menu for 10 and under.

Either someone she knew, or someone who quickly put their hand over her mouth. It's not that hard to do to a 2-year-old. And only 6 feet away from an exit. For an adult, that's about two steps.
Her mother believes she is still alive. I'm not sure what I believe. But I hope she is right.

I hope this was thoroughly investigated. It makes sense and I can see how a family friend might easily pick up the chiod and walk out, without the baby crying or screaming.

Hadn't heard about the cadaver dog leading them to a brushy area, where they also found males clothes that could have *possibly* been used as a disguise. :( A lot of that brushy area was destroyed when the bowling alley was. They erected a Home Depot, Jack in the Box, and bank. I wonder how well the area was looked over during the new construction.
The person the mother suspects in Florida has been given two polygraphs. He failed one, and passed the other.

It can't be taken as fact since it was posted on Facebook, but the area of Florida they are looking at is the Melborne area.

I watched this case tonight on NG and it's so horribly sad! Such a beautiful and sweet child. The mother certainly has a lot of self-discipline. If it were me, I would be staking out that house in Florida personally if I had to crawl there. But, she is probably doing it the right way and letting LE handle it. I hope so much that they find her!

I thought the mother's behavior is beyond strange-it has been 12 years! And it was 2009 when they last had a tip? LE is never as anxious as the family to find out what happened, and depending on what she has told them and who this man is to her, they may not take her seriously. I think she needs to get someone to that house in Fla. in some way. Jean C. is right, she should have been saving up her pennies, if she is claiming that money keeps her from going, which she did.

The man is one of Theresa's ex-boyfriends. At the time, it was his mother who asked her if she could have Teekah. I think they've investigated it. The guy took two polygraphs. I'm not sure if they called at let him know ahead of time, which is possible. That would have given them time to hide Teekah. And Theresa still suspects that Teekah is there. (Of course, it could just be wishful thinking. It would mean her daughter is still alive.)

Here's a picture of the now-closed bowling alley. It looks like it's quite large -- It must have a number of rooms.

TACOMA, Wash. - The mother of a missing Tacoma girl who disappeared 13 years ago says for the first time she is losing hope in her daughter's case.
Theresa Lewis says she has learned from police about other possible child crimes at about the same time that her daughter, 2-year-old Teekah Lewis, vanished from a Tacoma bowling alley on Jan. 23, 1999.

The hunt must go on for Teekah and other lost children
If there’s one thing worse than the death of a child, it’s the disappearance of a child.
Monday marked the 13th anniversary of the vanishing of 2-year-old Teekah Lewis of Tacoma. Bill Clinton was still president when she went missing. The bowling alley on Center Street where she vanished has since been razed.
She was a toddler then; she would be a high-schooler today. And she is still missing.

Police response team will focus on kidnapping
Ann Marie Burr. Carla Wright. Jennifer Bastian. Michella Welch. Teekah Lewis. Zina Linnik.
They are among children abducted in Tacoma over the years. Some were found slain. Others are still missing.
Many of their cases remain open.
[snip]
Child abductions are unlike many other investigations detectives handle. For one thing they often start with a missing-person report and no witnesses.
To try to learn what happened, patrol officers and detectives interview family members and friends to see whether the missing child has run away, failed to return home when he or she was supposed to, or could be the victim of foul play, Wade said.

Teekah Lewis, 2 1/2, disappeared from a bowling alley in 1999 with her family nearby.

My housebound neighbor just texted me to say she heard on the news that Teekah has been found ! Alive. I am in Seattle,so this is local for me... I am trying to find out if my neighbor got it right...Keeping my fingers crossed...
ETA Sigh...my neighbor misunderstood the news. But, it is really strange : a man supposedly tried to lure Teekah's 14 year old sister from a store. When she refused to go with him,he left the store. Apparently he had 2 kids in the back seats of his car... Teekah's sister then told her mother. I thought it was going to be a miracle for a few minutes there... MOO

Missing Tacoma girl turns 16 on 4th of July
TACOMA, Wash. -- Theresa Lewis wanted to have a baby born on the Fourth of July. But now the holiday has an ominous feeling for her.
"I don't like the fireworks," said
She gave birth to Teekah Lewis on July 4, 1996.
Two-and-a-half years later, Teekah vanished from a Tacoma bowling alley and has not been seen since.
While her mother does not like celebrating the Fourth, the family is throwing Teekah a Sweet 16 birthday party Wednesday night.
"We're celebrating like she's here," said Lewis.
Teekah's mother believes her daughter is alive and has been raised by the person who kidnapped her. She hopes her daughter has reached the age when someone might ask for her birth certificate.
"Hopefully she tries to go out there and get a driver's license and nothing matches and it just opens someone's eyes," said Lewis.

Possible break in case of Teekah Lewis' disappearance
The case of a Tacoma toddler who vanished from a bowling alley 13 years ago now has a possible break as police continue to investigate.
[snip]
On Friday and Saturday, Tacoma police dug up and searched the yard of a home on South Hawthorne Street.
[snip]
KIRO 7 searched archives and found that the man who lives at the house, is a man who pleaded guilty in 2010 of child luring at another bowling alley, Tower Lanes. The man was 56 at the time.

Search for evidence at Tacoma home part of Teekah Lewis investigation

“The Teekah Lewis abduction is an active investigation and detectives continue to follow-up leads. On July 20, 2012, detectives contacted a subject who … pleaded guilty to a child luring at a different bowling alley in Tacoma. Detectives interviewed this subject and searched his residence. Detectives are still evaluating this part of the investigation, but have not discovered anything significant at this point.”

Teekah Lewis was two years old in 1999 when she was reported missing from New Frontier bowling alley. This weekend, police investigating the case searched a Tacoma home and questioned the man who lives there.
The man who lives in the home says he was questioned by detectives with Tacoma Police for hours. He said he does not know Teekah Lewis and he did not do anything wrong.
But Teekah's mother, Theresa, is asking new questions.
"There has to be something for them to get a search warrant, and search this man's house and dig up the backyard,” she said.
Police confirmed that they questioned the man in connection with the disappearance of Teekah. Police also say the man pleaded guilty in 2011 in a different case that involved child luring at a different bowling alley.
