RUTLAND, Vt. -- A former Rutland man wanted in New York for allegedly sneaking into dorm rooms of female students at Cornell University has been captured in California, authorities said.

Abraham James Shorey, 25, dubbed the "Collegetown Creeper," and featured on the "America's Most Wanted" (http://www.amw.com/captures/brief.cfm?id=34577) television program, was arrested in San Diego after a traffic stop.

"He was on 'America's Most Wanted,' which shows that they have made significant efforts to get him, and we will make our decision in regard to our matters subsequent to New York's actions," Mongeon said. "We will be communicating with New York authorities later."

Shorey pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of residential burglary of an occupied residence and one count of assault with intent to commit rape.
