The St. Guillen family has hired high-powered attorney Joseph Tacopina. They're going after the bar owners for hiring convicted felon Darryl Littlejohn.

Great news and thanks for posting this. This tragedy most likely wouldn't have occurred but not for the Dorrian's negligence in hiring Littlejohn and remembering this isn't the first time that family has been in the background of a murder. Praying for justice for Imette's family.

Does anyone know what has happened with this law suit? I'm surprised that Joe T is taking the case as he is a defense attorney.

Anyone heard when the trial is going to be? It is usually a year or so after the arrest.

Hi, Bobbisangel. I think that it's not uncommon for a defense attorney to take a civil case for a client. In fact, because prosecutors seldom appear in civil suits, defense attorneys probably constitute a majority of the lawyers involved.

As for your two questions: As far as I have read, no date has been set for the Littlejohn trial. (His most recent court appearance appears to have been in early March.) I would not be surprised if the civil case is postponed until after the criminal trial. That trial record might provide Imette's family with additional testimony and leads for their suit.

I would say that most cases are usually closer to two years than a year.

Even though Joe is a defense attorney he is like Daniel Horowitz that also does civil attorney work.

One thing about it Joe is stylish but he is a hard hitter. He will not hesitate in doing a thorough job against these guys.

IMO
