The 18-year-old woman was in stable condition yesterday following surgery. Authorities say she had walked and crawled a half-mile to find help after her abductors left her for dead Wednesday morning along a highway in Limestone County.

About 4:30 a.m., Dena Lincoln was awakened by faint knocking on her trailer door. She opened it to find the woman standing there, covered in blood.

“I will never, as long as I live, get that look that was on her face out of my mind,” Lincoln said. “She kept saying, ‘I’m going to die. I’m going to die.’ I told her, ‘No, honey, you are going to be all right. We are going to get you some help.’”

Wilson said there still is a lot of work to be done on the case. One thing in particular that he wants to do, he said, is talk with state crime lab officials about whether there are unsolved crimes with a similar modus operandi.

“I’m telling you they intended to kill this girl,” Wilson said of the two men described by the victim. “I really don’t think it was these guys’ first time to do something like this.”

sure, many men are evil and capable of this no matter what their race or country of origin. but why add to the problems we already have, especially when it's so easy for these scumbags to slip back over to where they came from?? be prepared for much more of this folks, as we continue to accomodate illegals and allow "proper ethics" to paralyze us from making any decisive action... hope your cheap labor is worth it. while you sit there prostheletyzing and waxing philosophical from your comfortable white suburban home about "loving all humankind" and "how much our economy depends on them", your daughter (or your job!!!!) could be next.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that a number of our politicians have housekeepers...yardmen...Nannys...etc...working right out of their homes with no legal papers.

I feel so bad for this young girl that was raped and beaten. She sure did have a strong will to live...thank God. I'm so glad that the woman living in the trailer opened her door to this girl and got her some help. In this day and age its a scary thing to open your door at 4 in the morning.

I can't understand how people can be so cruel to another human being. Here this girl is just driving along and minding her own business. These two guys make the decision to push her off the road...rape her...beat her and leave her for dead. They should be taken out and shot. Psychopaths. I hope we don't just end up sending them back to Mexico. They have a lot to answer for here first.

uhh, hello bobbi, didn't you know,, THEY DO~! i work in construction and i see it every day. an entire "underground" economy for the wealthy... all their housekeepers, nannies, chauffers, landscaping people, stonemasons, tileworkers, etc. etc... are all mexican, and no one cares if they are legal or not.. if not, that's even better because they will be cheaper. and if they ARE illegal, they can hold that over their head, and treat them like their own personal slaves, and the "slaves" can't say anything about it. in texas probably 90% of all construction is done by immigrants- whether legal or not... also restaurant kitchen workers, and skilled labor jobs (even though they may not be skilled or trained up to american standards-- or what american standards USED to be). this is the whole problem, why the border has been hemorrhaging for so long... becaue the rich are in charge in this country, and rich want their cheap slave labor force at any cost. and, small business take advantage of it too, so they can be competitive and survive in this cut-throat economy.

I'm glad she survived. I hope she heals emotionally from this and that it makes her stronger. Some people give up - but she seems like a real fighter.
