STOCKTON, Utah -- The couple's air conditioner wasn't working. The woman wanted her boyfriend to fix it, and when he didn't, she killed him and then herself, officers said.
Larry E. Van Camp, 57, of Stockton, died Sunday after he was shot with a .357-caliber handgun multiple times in the back of the neck by Michelle R. Carter, 37, who then shot herself in the head, Tooele County sheriff's Lt. Duke North said.
North said the couple lived together for about three years and had no known history of domestic abuse.
The couple lived with Carter's 16-year-old son and the Van Camp's 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter. Carter's brother lived in a recreational vehicle in the driveway, North said

For the past few days the humidity level has been 95% where i live and sleep has been all but impossible as normally one really doesn't require air/con in Hamburg.
with temperatures in the 90s.
right now, i'd kill for the swamp cooler my best friend - coincidentally near Tooele - shared with me just last week on a visit to her. wonderful things . . . :(

Old BroadMy God. I live in Georgia in an old house that has central air, but it flows poorly. Off myself, maybe, but murder-suicide?
This story is just surreal.

who says that a/c is the reason for this? there has to be more to the story.

For all you men you don't fix things around the house when we ask.....:p
Seriously this is awful. The poor kids that are left behind. How sad.

Nagging is merely the repetition of unpalatable truths.

Before the advent of air conditioning the summer months in this country--especially the South and Southwest--were dupped the "Murder Months". June and July in particular, with August being the start of the downtrend. Heat, humidity, discomfort and the lack of sleep from heat at night frays tempers to the breaking point. Although when then weather gets TOO got (as in Augugust)people without AC either drop dead from dead exhaustion or are too weary to move, much less commit violence.
