Amber Alert Site (http://www.amber.state.pa.us/amber/site/default.asp)
The Pennsylvania State Police has issued an Amber Child Abduction Alert for the Ridley Township Police Department, Delaware County.
Ridley Township Police are searching for a white, non-hispanic female age 15-16 years old, 5'8" tall, thin build, dark straight collar-length hair, with a bloodied face, wearing a white midriff shirt, short black leather skirt and flip-flops. She was abducted and forced into a white color late 70's or early 80's panel van, possibly Ford Econoline, with 12" letters "Hell Raider" spray painted in red on the driver side. The actor is the driver of the van, who is described as a white non-hispanic male, age in the early 40's, 5'10" tall, 140 lbs thin build, short straight red hair and full red beard and mustache, wearing a blue jean jacket and blue jeans. The van had an additional unknown person in the front passenger seat. The van was last seen at 6:00 a.m. heading north on Fernwood Avenue, toward 4th Avenue, from the 300 block of Fernwood Avenue.
Anyone with information about the abduction should immediately contact the police by calling 911.
Affected Counties: Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Bucks, Northhampton, Lehigh, Berks, Lancaster.

This vehicle shouldn't be hard to identify at all...as long as it's still on the road.

Wow! I hope this girl is found safe but it doesn't sound good. What do they mean by "The actor is the driver of the van"?? Are they using "actor" to mean person sought? It is a strange use of the word.
PS. Ridley is in SE PA, near Philadelphia

I found the use of the word actor strange as well. Poor wording, I guess.

If I'm reading it correctly, they use the word "actor" to describe the person committing the act of forcing her into the van. It doesn't sound good but that van should be easy to spot...although I don't understand why the Amber Alert wasn't extended to New Jersey and Delaware as they are so quickly and easily accessible from Pennsylvania. God only knows where they are but I hope she is returned safely.

Me too, luthersmama. I heard the emergency broadcast buzz on the tv at about 9:00 A.M., and that's when I looked for it online. But I haven't found any sort of update or additional information since then. I'm praying that this girl will be found alive and soon. It really doesn't sound good at all.

They don't have any idea who she is. There are no missing persons reports in the area that could be her.
There were two people in the van.
I wonder if she was picked up someplace else and got out of the van in Folsom, then they grabbed her and put her back in.
I think she might be a runaway. I hope they find the van. It is so distinctive.
They just released a sketch of the driver of the Van...

Appparently their were witnesses.. one did try to intervene but was issued a death threat.. he quickly alerted police who are still searching and requesting leads from the public.
This one is too close for comfort for me. I will be keeping an eye out for the van today... but at this hour they could be far away from here. I hope this is not going to end as badly as it would appear its going to... I pray this girl is found quickly and safely.

Actually, here in NE Pa. they not only had the Alert running on the band, but during a Boscovs commercial. You could see the commercial, but only hear the Alert words. I think it is wonderful that the store allowed that. I am more inclined to shop there for their kindness in this situation.........well.........emmmm.......It is my favorite store, so I'd go there anyway. Now, I can be more cheerful when I hand over the bucks.
I hope they find her ASAP........or maybe they have?? Many bordering states, so I hope it went out to the neighbors too.
Doesn't the van sound like it would be soooo easy to spot?

The latest news this morning is that the Amber Alert has been cancelled. They have had no new missing persons reports..."Police said they had received no reports of missing persons, but that they feared for the girl's safety.
State police issued an Amber Alert describing the girl and the van. Police said the Amber Alert, which ends automatically after eight hours, was canceled Thursday evening but officers were still looking for the teenager.
``Our concern is for the girl,'' Ridley Township police Capt. Charles Howley said.
Howley said the witness, who said he was about 75 feet away, appeared credible, though police hadn't made any determinations. ``We don't know if it really is an abduction,'' Howley said."

I saw the witness last night on the news, and he seemed like a normal (but somewhat shocked) middle-aged guy. I personally felt that there was no reason not to believe what he was saying. I'll look around to see if one of the local stations has that video. I think I saw it on NBC.

I agree he appeared to be a relaibel witness.. not someone who would makeup something like this ....
I have to wonder if this wasn't a domestic situation, a call girl who didn't get the job done or tried to leave, or a drug dispute possibly.... or a missing person from another area that managed to break away for a short time...
Regardless this girl needed help.. anyone in that condition needs someone to intervene on her behalf before it goes any further.. No one has come forward and claimed it was a mistake or the witness misunderstood what was going on either...

I would take bets that this is a pimp/street girl type situation. The girl is sadly, probably not missed by anyone that would be willing to report to the police (such as a runaway like suggested above). :( I'm glad someone at least tried to help her. Most of the time people just turn their heads to stuff like this.

The use of the word actor is strange, but as I read it more, I think it was just a typo. I think they meant to type "abductor".
Sure hope she's okay...

There has been no resolution. No girl fitting the description has been reported missing. The local police were still working on it last week, but I haven't seen anything for a few days.

My apologies for bumping an older thread (especially as someone who only has two posts counting this one under his belt) but I'm curious if anything ever came out of this case. Anyone ever find this girl or the van?
Being from PA this one hit hard. Sure, I'm on the western side of the state but you never know if it could show up. Even now I still double-check every older cargo van for the words.

Sadly, MP, I never heard another thing about this. I'm going to try to do a web search to see if anything comes up but I'm not very hopeful. I really believe that this was a public display of domestic violence and not so much an abduction. Not that that makes it any better because I still wonder what became of that poor girl. I hope with everything I am that she's still here somewhere and that if she did know the animal that was doing that to her that she's gotten away from him by now.
And please don't apologize for bumping the thread. I think it's so important to keep people like this on our minds even long after the fact. I'm glad that you bumped it and brought my attention back to this girl that needs help.

Yeah, i'm glad you bumped the thread too. It's very sad that this case seems to have turned into a forgotten one. I really believe this girl was living on the streets and has no one who cares enough to look for her (or no one even noticed she was missing).

I really believe this girl was living on the streets and has no one who cares enough to look for her (or no one even noticed she was missing). That's always been another strong possibility in my mind as well. Who knows how truly horrible her story might be - she might have been a run-away from across the country and could have met up with the wrong people, perhaps forced into prostitution - who knows what. I wish that a larger effort (than it seems) would have been made to find her. She could be in a situation that she can't get herself out of. :(

The word "actor" was not a typo. We use this in our reports pertaining to a person involved in an act.

It surprises me that nobody's found that van yet. It sounds like it would be awfully easy to spot. Of course, it could have been painted over, but a good paint job probably wouldn't be likely, and with a sketch of the abductor/actor and the fact we know it's an older van (there aren't a whole lot of older cargo vans left around here at least; most of the ones I see are probably 12 years old or newer) would make that fairly easy.
Not to be stereotypical here, but it does seem that a lof of drivers of 20+ year old cargo vans these days are suspicious fellows.

Yes...the beat up windowless type! For some reason, whenever I see one, I have the following urges come to me:
1. Grab my phone and a pencil (to write a license down).
2. Have my foot ready to floor it if I've got any ladies or children in the car.
It's scary. And I really feel for that poor girl who got kidnapped. Some of you may be right--she may have been a girl without any chance, really. Who knows what kind of potential she may have had.

"They" who? If the van was local to begin with, "they" might have found it. But the spot where this took place was just off I95. Where are "they" supposed to look? Especially when there was no local girl missing at the time? The Ridley Township police can't go up and down the I95 corridor looking for the van. Hard enough to look in Chester, Camden, Pennsauken and Philadelphia. Hard to justify based on one witness and no missing person report.

Yeah, seems story was there was a party going on, guy/girl fight, he leaves, comes back, grabs her and throws her in the van...witness thought it suspicious.
I am guessing they were able to track down the van fairly quickly.
Case closed.
I agree, sad for the gf.
