"As she sprayed soap over her white Miata sports car, Kenneth Allen McDuff pulled his Thunderbird into the adjoining stall. McDuff walked around the partition, grabbed her by the throat and dragged her screaming to his vehicle. Being a foot shorter and more than 100 pounds lighter than her attacker, she was unable to defend herself. Her screams were heard by people in the area, who also heard a car trunk or door slam. They came to investigate, but only found her abandoned car with perishable items in the back seat, her purse and keys in the front seat. McDuff's accomplice that night was Alva Hank Worley of Belton. He later told authorities the details of the abduction and assault, but claimed that Colleen was still alive in the trunk of the car when McDuff dropped him off after asking for a knife and a shovel."
