These are unrelated stories. At first I thought they were a coordinated effort by they are not. Perhaps these two stories should be separated into different threads?

DOLTON, Illinois (AP) -- A gunman took at least two people hostage Wednesday during an attempted bank robbery outside Chicago, authorities said.
Dolton village spokesman Sean Howard said officers had communicated with people inside the Heritage Community Bank and had the area surrounded.
There was at least one gunman and "at least two to three possible hostages," he said.
Authorities blocked off several streets around the bank as police from at least three towns and FBI agents worked to resolve the situation.
Jorge Hernandez, 21, an employee at nearby Pepe's Tacos, said two bank employees came in around 11 a.m. (noon ET), saying their manager had told them to get away. He said they told him a gunman was in the bank vault with at least two hostages.
"They were scared more than upset," Hernandez said in a phone interview. "They were scared for their co-workers."

CHICAGO -- An apparent robbery attempt-turned-hostage situation ended Wednesday afternoon with no injuries, but authorities said they were still searching for a perpetrator.
NBC5 has learned that no hostages were found inside a bank in Dolton after SWAT teams searched the Heritage Community Bank, located at 550 E. Sibley Boulevard.
Authorities were alerted to a bank robbery when they received a 911 call at 10:46 a.m., said Sean Howard, a spokesman for the village of Dolton. In the initial phases of the robbery, five people, both customers and employees, were able to escape the bank, and those people spoke directly with the FBI, Howard added.
Police blocked off parts of Chicago Road and East Sibley Boulevard in a six-block area around the bank, Howard said.

As of 6pm Chicago time, the robber got out of dodge never to be seen again.
Sort of like Charlie on the NTA...
