12 yo Juliana Medina missing since Sunday night. The thing that bothers me is that her parents allowed her to have an 18 yo boyfriend!
The mother is worried that the bf took her to Mexico. This is especially hard because they lost another daughter to cyctic fibrosis back in May (she was 15)

Police Searching For Missing Modesto Girl (http://www.thekcrachannel.com/news/2798101/detail.html)
12-Year-Old Last Seen Sunday
MODESTO, Calif. -- Police in Modesto are looking for an man who they say could have information about the disappearance of a young girl.
Julianna Medina, 12, was last seen on Sunday.
Her mother, Anna Robles, said the girl went outside to sit in the family car, but when Robles went to check on her, she was gone.
Robles said the girl had recently broken off a relationship with 18-year-old Guadalupe Chavez, who was last seen about 30 minutes before Medina disappeared.
Chavez is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds. He is believed to be driving a burgundy Nissan Maxima.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Modesto Police Department.

The child is 12????
The man is 18????
What kind of parent is so out of touch with their 12 yr. old daughter as to allow such a relationship to ever get to the point of 'breaking up'?
Am I out of the loop here? Is this commonplace for today's kids? My values go back a few generations, I guess.
Very sad story .. but I am appalled that the parents ever allowed their 12 year old to have an 18 yr. old boyfriend.
Perhaps the child changed her adolescent mind and went with him willingly .. the scary part is if she didn't.

These parents need to have their children removed from their care. That is absurd.

I don't think that in a large Mexican community like Modesto that it is unusual for a 12 year old....possibly almost 13 to be dating a boy 18. It is quite common here in San Diego where we have a huge Mexican population. (right on the border of Tijuana Mexico). In fact, my daughter is a teacher in a huge High School here that had predominantly Mexican students. Almost half of Mexican children don't even speak English. Many of them come across the border to go to school here even though it is illegal to do so. At the school they even have a day nursery where they can leave their babies while they are in school. Most of the girls aren't married who have the babies. A sorry state but that is what is happening.
I think at this point, the scenario of this case will end up being that she again got together with her boyfriend...(waiting in the family car til he could pick her up) .and I sure hope that it doesn't end up any worse than that. She may have found out she's pregnant. Regardless, I will sure say prayers for Julianna and her family.

Sadly, this is more common than we may think...a 12 year old girl dating a 17 yr. old boy. AND, it isnt something happening just among the Hispanic community. My town is predominately white and I see it all the time, but then I see a lot of other things going on too. As we are all aware, morals have taken a down slide but the main problem as I see it is that parents lack parenting skills. Many of the parents seem to care little about what their kids are doing as long as they are 'out of their hair'. Anyway, glad to hear they found the girl. Hopefully the parents will tighten the rein and be a little more observant about who their daughter is involved with.

are not that uncommon,I kind of knew a girl in my Jr. high who was married at I believe age 14 to a man in his 20's and both were Hispanic. This was in Idaho, I am really not sure how old you have to be to be married there. Then I had another friend who was married at age 15 also to someone in his 20's due to pregnancy and appears to have had not an easy life by the last time I saw her.

Unfortunately, when parents have a terminally ill child, like this girl's older sister, it takes all they have to give sometimes. They forget they have other children.
But sometimes it is laziness and a tendency to blame everybody else but themselves when something like this happens. Sometimes girls can look older and that can be a problem. Carlie Brucia looked quite a bit older than eleven to me, for example. But this little girl doesn't even look twelve!! She looks like she is nine years old. To me, that makes her boyfriend a creepy pedophile. But that's another issue. The parents allowed this "relationship" it appears... and set themselves and their daughter up for something bad to happen.
Look what happened to Maryann Measles because her :loser: mother thought it acceptable that Maryann was never gone more than a couple of days  without explanation and she always called. WHAT?? :furious: That woman still has three little girls, Maryann's younger sisters. What is my prediction for them? I shutter to think about it.

I don't understand these older men wanting to have a relationship with a child. these people need to grow up for once in there lives. these are the kind of perverts that turn into " joe smiths" of the world. not far from tabitha tuders home, a 12 year old girl is dating a 21 year old man, and may even be getting ready to have his child, of course when you look at the parents it is easy to understand how things in this family is fully disfunctional, to bad for the 12 year old child, no telling where her life will lead too. as far as the boyfriend he is a real :loser: , and ain't got no job, no life, who knows what his parents are like? like I have seen on her many times... to many clowns not enough circuses

I feel truly sorry for the boy who tries to date my daughter before we feel she's able to date. I'm more strict with my kids than most and my daughter won't be going on any "alone" dates for a long long time. LOL NOR will she be wearing any make up!

I see the age of consent in Mexico is twelve. That fit's in perfectly with the majority of the population's lifestyle. Many, many poor people there. I live by the way right next to Tijuana.........the border town. They get married early to get out of crowded shack they live in, to maybe cross the border to work with their boyfriends or husbands.........just a million reasons. Many girl's of twelve are prositutes which pay's better than working in the fields.
I love the Mexican people. They are polite, and very kind. The woman. like in most cultures are very close and take care of themselves and their friends and neighbors. They are very family orientated. Wanna bet this girl spoke both English and Spanish. It is very difficult for these children to really find good friendship's outside of the Mexican Community..while living in the U.S. unless their family's have money. Just around the corner from where I live is a friend of my grandson's...............a she, and she speak's fluently both English and Spanish. BUT this family has money..they're educated, live in a lovely house and drive nice cars. No problem with this family intergrating into an American town whatsoever. This family could never be called an average Mexican.
Edited to add. In Mexico.......if you can get up on a barstool they'll serve you a drink!
I'm so glad they found this little girl...
