Thing is, I don't know if Charlie will be getting out of bed tommorrow for a very different reason. He might have fallen asleep in the hay! Baa Haa Haa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I'd love to stay, but just have to go cozy up to watch my Eccanuba Dog Championship show on The Animal Planet. It is the most prestigeous dog show of all.
Thanks again Sami - OMG, wait till Annie sees this thread. She's gonna go bonkers and keep us entertained forever. I love it. We'll never want to leave, but of course will have to get up on occasion to eat, go potty and then maybe go to work! :D

Next up on IWEE at 9.....Websleuther dies in the middle of an important case.
"and continuing tonights top stories, a regular on the internet's most famous sleuthing website, Websleuths, was found deceased in her computer chair after becoming engrossed in the latest case. Reporter on the scene Ivanna Pea reports....."
"Well, from what we've heard this is not a crime scene. The preliminary autopsy report and initial investigation into a possible crime, shows that the websleuther was indeed seated at her computer when her bladder exploded. No other people were in the room and for that I must say "Thank God". The reports shows the force of the impact at mach 1 and the impact blew a hole straight through the bottom of the seat. I saw that too Charlie. The guy was an investigator I bet, and do you think the woman was the DA Becky? Could be, as she was at the scene. He was a big kinda stocky guy and she was a bit petite with dark hair. In a lovely short red wool coat, so I bet it was the DA.

Serious question here - do you follow any of the WNBL games - in particular the Canberra Capitals ?
I ask because there is a young lady playing for Canberra by the name of Jackie Stiles. She attended college here and played for SMS - she is one of the most awesome female basketball players I've ever seen. She played here in the states in the WNBA but suffered serious "career ending" injuries. She has recovered and is now in Australia playing with the Capitals. Just wondered if you kept up with that at all ?

Thanks, narlacat... That was a really sad, grey week for your country! Wow - hardly time to absorb it all as Steve was a global icon at his young, active life. Love him or otherwise - there's no mistaking his larger than life gave the world larger than WILDlife.
Same thing when Princess Di passed ... 3 days later Mother Theresa passed and - in a way - with the phenomenal magnitude of public attention on Princess D, Mother Theresa slipped out of the media spotlight to a degree. Please know I do NOT mean anything negative whatsoever - maybe I personally feel the Lord chose Mother Theresa to depart this Earth in as humble a fashion as she lived her life: quietly and without a media frenzy.
As for lil Bindi: WHO cannot fall in love with her infectious voice, smile and enthusiasm. Me? I think she's Australia's darling princess all of their own. Glad she's doing OK.

That was 4 months later and by then they'd uncovered a great deal - on top of which ISP probably sped things up with his cr@pola all over national TV.
I have such faith in this dept - that even if it is not JY - I believe they have absolutely thorough circumstantial evidence at this stage. .... Until LE prove otherwise, I feel Jason is involved.

RaisinCharlie,
Loved the horse story. I don't have arenas and big barn, but we have to help 20 horses survive winter. BarnGod made me go out and open the main pasture gate so he could pull the two big bales out to the pasture in the feeders. He dinked around while I froze my rear trying to convince these big draft horses they needed to wait until he came through. Sunday I looked out the kitchen window and saw our five calves rollicking through the north "junk" area. Then glanced over and saw the barn door leading from their pen open a bit. We put two horses in with them and not only was the barn door open, so was the gate at the other end. He went out in his long johns and found the champion gate opener in the grain room. Of course the barn was a mess. After calling the vet, we put the two horses in a separate pen and cut them off from water until this morning. You are right about colic, we lost our Suffolk stallion in August from colic.
We are pretty careful during the winter, but these horses are used to the climate changes and have already grown their winter coats. They have windbreaks and when they predict snow, we bring them all into the pens up against the barn. We can get 10 into temporary stalls in the barn.
Keep warm there Charlie.
:D BarnGod gave you the raw end of the deal for sure ! On a serious note, hope the champ gate opener and partner in crime are alright, you did the right thing. That is a bad deal when they figure out how to get to the grain, and they will figure out how to do it ! Are all of your horses draft ? Beautiful creatures they are! I am sorry to hear about your stallion - I worry myself crazy over colic.
Most of the horses here are not mine, and are pampered show horses so they are use to being in at night during winter and out at night during the summer. They are pretty slick even now. I like your setup better to be honest. My personal horses have stalls but they open out so they can come and go as they please. Right now though - even they are up - not on ice, no, no, no. I think it is healthier for them to be quite free. But some owners insist upon stalling so what's a fella to do ? Spend endless nights in a barn worrying...that's what!
Before this weather we were in the low 60s so this was pretty drastic as it has been down around 4 to 8 at night. Get them all in the barn though, with a bit of heat and it stays around 50 in here so it is not bad. Our power came back this AM but no dent in the ice yet so we are going to be here a while yet. Its warm enough for them but I'm nervous about the ice. The good thing with the ice - their owners are not here with them !!! :D
Next time, grab the tractor before BarnGod !

Charlie,
I absolutely love your dedication to the horses! Just wondered what kind of "pampered show horses" are there? I had a few of the VERY "pampered" AQHA show horses for many years...and my last one is down in AUSTRALIA now! We nicknamed her Diva, she was THAT pampered, LOL. Should have just had her first foal...I'm waiting to hear whether she had a colt or filly! Seems strange to have their foaling season in the fall/winter, vs our US winter/spring months.
Anyways...back on topic, sorry!

So, very pampered AQHA quarters huh ? Reining, barrels, western pleasure ? Great horses and we have a few diva quarters here! Australia - holy smoke, I'm thinking that would be a great place to have horses and just take off for days. We do have a few foals around here from time to time but it is not something I encourage our clients to do. Those little buggers make me worry for sure - but wonderful to be around.
We have a wide variety staying here, mostly warmbloods: Holsteiner, Danish WB, Dutch WB, an Andulasian, a Clydesdale (huge fellow), and some Trakehners. We also have a Peruvian Paso, a Paso Fino, some Missouri Fox Trotters, a few Arabs, a Tennessee WH, and several Quarter Horses. My wife and boys have fox trotters but I have to have my thoroughbreds. So that is the lot here, and not to forget a donkey named Sam who believes he is quite human and talks to me all the time...did you know if you clothespin a donkey's ears together they get quiet ?

RC, we have 6 Belgians. Mother and 4 offspring plus one Belgian filly from Canada. We also have 2 painted drafts. We currently have 8 Suffolk Punch drafts, one mare is in foal. Also have one Standardbred, one miscellaneous good old horse that will pull a buggy also. One Quarterhorse 2 year old (still not cut) out of SS Diego and in direct lines to Weiscamp Skipper W. Two Palaminos (registered paints), two cremello half suffolk/half paint colts from this Spring, one donkey (Bob the pest) and 1 very smart Apaloosa. The Ap is the one that opens gates and knows her way around the barn. It's nothing to be in the barn and find her wandering right in. We've given up trying to figure how she gets in from the pasture. She's also my Parelli horse and works at the sale barn with the BarnGod. There her gate opening trick is an asset. Currently we also have 5 calves.
The grain is a special mix we get from Colorado Soy. The soy is so important this winter. Extra protein. It's mixed to order for our horses. Every horse on the place is gentle and easy going. All are approachable. Babies are gentled as soon as they are born and mothers don't mind our being around. The interesting thing is when I open the gate to the paddocks and they all come in for water, each horse will stop and acknowledge me. They stop for a little pet. Donkey follows me around and if I'm not careful, he'll push me down. He follows so close, his head is constantly in my back.
We love all our horses and I have a hard time when one is sold.

It was ;James', and English Springer Spaniel. He was drop dead perfect. They all were exceptional in the last 7 going for best in show. The German Shepard was masterful, and he was the only dog that was chosen both by America calling in and the judges in his working dog category.
America still wanted him for Best in Show, but the Spaniel, seen in so many classic turn of the century paintings, took it all.
Last year it was the Malmute, the Bloodhound before that and that little Terrier with the smiling face who won the previous year. Always a great competition to watch.

Sounds like donkeys everywhere are generally sweet little things. I'll have to try the clothespin thing with Bob. He wakes up everything around the second he spots us. It's really a hoot.
Please deliver the Pasos to me as soon as you can, ok? I rode one once and would dearly love to have one. At 62, I would love to have that smooth ride.
A good friend of ours, an attorney, has Arabians. The awards are so numerous for them. They travel all over and I believe La Contessa is again Western Pleasure Champion in this region. Such beautiful creatures.

BG,
I like those Belgians, there is a fellow about 30 miles from here that has a whole herd of them and they are gentle and passive, even about their young. Beautiful coloring as well and I like their heads, nice face. He does use his for pulling and they are amazingly strong. Nice babies they are.
I get to hack those Pasos out a couple of times a week and they are a nice ride. I prefer the Paso Fino over the Peruvian though. The only thing about them, the Peruvian in particular, they seem to have suspension problems. Lots of rub downs for them when you get done riding or they pull up touchy. Otherwise - beautiful ride.
The clothes pin - just the fur luv - you get the flesh and you will definitely being hearing about it ! Donkey's are neat little ones - never have met a quiet one. I get tickled watching him with my thoruughbreds - he just runs right under them and just hehaws the whole way - too funny! He does like to play...I laugh a lot.

The lady that bought my diva, has changed business directions now...and is selling her 300 acres in Australia...and all the horses, etc. I'd absolutely love to be able to buy my mare back, but I couldn't afford to purchase her, and pay the $$$ for quarantine and shipment back! I should have bought Reba's (the mare) embryo when it was still in a test tube, LOL. I could have paid for the shipping back for that, haha.
Pictures of this absolutely gorgeous Australian ranch...and my mare (with me on her from 2002, LOL) are on their website. I'll PM you with the website addy if you're interested.
Wow! You have got a mix goin' on at your place. I bet it keeps you busy! I've only been by warmbloods once in my life. They are just huge! A co-worker had a barn specially built for the warmbloods, whereby everything was much larger than normal, or higher than normal. I went back to my 15.3 hand mare and thought she was a pony, I swear.
Ahhh, Sam...how cute! We have a little herd of donkeys down the road from us. They're all so cute and friendly. I think they'd do quite well in my backyard, they just look like big dogs, haha.

RC, you are definitely right about Belgians. Definitely gentle giants. We had a really rare occurance, I think. This Spring, Ginger, our Belgian mare delivered a dark colt. I mean chestnut brown with black legs, mane and tail. She was bred back to the same stud. She's been bred to "Mike" owned by an Amish friend for the fourth time. He swore up and down she wasn't near any other stud the entire time she spent there. She's blonde with flaxen mane, tail and feathers. This colt is a cute little think though. I have heard there are such things as throwbacks in all breeds. Now the Canadian Belgian is one of the Sorrel colored Belgians. She's going to be absolutely huge. Our draft horses pull a wagon or sometimes two. The BarnGod takes them to Burlington's Old Town Museum every summer weekend and drives between the museum and our historic carousel. He also does special tours. The paint drafts look spectacular doing this. We have to get busy and get the younger Belgians started pulling soon. One Suffolk mare and one gelding also pull.
I will be very careful pinning Bob's ears. Ok, hair only. He was given to us by a friend to keep our QH young stud company. However, I think we'll geld him this Spring. He's not fully dropped yet. I was on the phone one day to my stepdaughter while I was playing with him and I wondered if he had been gelded. He wasn't supposed to be. While I was on the phone to her, I reached under and felt around and found he just hadn't dropped yet. She was shocked that I would put my hand under there to find out. But all the horses we have are touchable anywhere. One of the first things I do with a foal is to scratch their butts around and under their tails. They love it. Stepdaughter was horrified one day when Hidalgo (the young stud) backed into me. She was sure I was going to get kicked, but he just wanted a little scratch.

Hi BG,
I'm "butting" in here for a second, as I'm kinda laughing. My friends and I get a kick out of talking "horse talk" when in public, like standing in line or talking on the cell phone...and your post reminded me of that. You know, going on about when the semen is going to be shipped and needing to be picked up at the airport, haha. Or discussions about whether to use frozen semen or not...that'll get you looks in the pizza parlor, haha. Or talking about shoveling sh**...and meaning it :o
Knowing what you mean about feeling whether they've dropped or not  and scratching their rear ends...they do just love that, don't they?

The Sorrel - with flaxen mane, tail, and feathers ? Beautiful - my favorite ! you know, that little could surprise you - might be off-color right now but they can sure change color in a hurry. One time we had a Lipanzaner mare here, she was in foal and out pops this black as coal baby...thing is all the Lipanzaners (well most) come out this way and just don't change until they mature. You could be surprised in the future !
Isn't that funny - non horse people think we are perverted ! Well if one ever has to clean out the beans or take a temperature, they will understand why such things are done won't they ? I also get them use to things in their noses, nothing wierd just sponges and such, but it sure helps if you ever have to mineral oil one. Sure saves a lot of trouble later... I've seen that look of disbelief many a time :)

You bet Deputy. A co-worker has some quarters and one elderly black stud. Years ago he spent a small fortune to have his semen frozen and sells "straws". This is Comet Chex we're talking about. I purchased my stud for $800 a year ago because I liked his confirmation and attitude. I researched him on line later and found his sire and dam were both there. His Weiscamp - Skipper W lines are excellent. His attitude is laid back and I'll bet he won't be hard to start under saddle. I had an offer that I turned down for $2500, because I didn't like the person making the offer. He has a bad rep for cruelty and I won't tolerate that ever.

Lol@horsetalk about semen. you took me back to my teen years staying with my dad on his dairy farm and what happened when dad and I were in the big smoke (the city) at a coffee shop discussing the artificial insemination of his cows....which for the first time I had participated in earlier that morning and had never seen him do before (mom always 'protected' me from that part of farming lol)...
....so imagine for a second that this little teenager (I was 12) was all excited because she thought she'd done a good job helping out and my dad had just finished saying how difficult one of 'the old girls' was.
Now imagine being the family in the booth behind us as I blurted out excitedly just a wee bit too loudly......
"yeah she was difficult. I can't believe you got your arm right up her twat"

Any star watchers here.
Tomorrow 10 December a rare event will occur. Planets Jupiter, Mercury, and Mars will appear in the eastern sky so close together that you can see all three of them. At approximately 6:46 am EST is the best time to view this - due east. Jupiter will be in the middle with Mercurt and Mars to either side. I saw this this morning while hacking out a horse. It will also be visible on Monday morning at approximately the same time just not as bright. None of these will twinkle as they are not stars. Enjoy.
For those in other time zones - back track 5:46 am CST, 4:46 MST. and 3:46am PST.

This is interesting! Wonder when we'll be lined up for this (that's if the clouds disappear!). This might sound DUMB ... as I know very little about Stars ... but I wonder if, when Jesus was bord, these stars were lined up then and that's why everyone saw a Bright Star above Bethlehem?....

Husband and Girlfriend charged in relation to death of murdered woman (not Michelle, which is why this is here...but good news for her case).
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- A Rocky Mount man and his alleged girlfriend were arrested Saturday in connection with the shooting death of his wife.
Mark Bowling, 35, and Rose Parker Vincent, 27, of Middlesex, were charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 45-year-old Julie Bowling, who was found dead inside the garage of the Bowlings' home Friday morning.

Oh happy days ... it's Sunday evening ... and I'm off to UK couple days time, will miss ya'all. Urg! WATCH me miss a biggie in the case. I'll have to give someone my cell number, lolololollllll j/k... :D

Oooh, yes! My hubby is a STAR at the B/butter - I'll buy the cinnamon crepe-fingers ... I will be calling by Waitrose - get some real goodies to bring back for my dinner party - which I do 3 times a year, lol. And also Campbell's Shortbread, Scottish xmas pud (can you remember the brand, lol) In How wonderful to cyber-chat via video over Christmas.
The *only* thing I CANNOT STAND (or swallow) are Brussells Sprouts. Those enter my mouth, do a Fred Astaire Tap Dance on my tongue and teeth and then BOUNCE right out again. Bleck. That and beetroot are just about the only things I'm not fond of. Otherwise, call me a front-end loader, lol!
As my grandmother would say, "What's there not to like about brussells sprouts?". dunno, but i don't like them! :slap:
BTW, i WANT this recipe:
OK ... I have to dash downstairs and commence making & freezng my minced lamb/mint/herbs mini meat-balls (absolutely GORGEOUS in warmed chutney with an added tblspn of honey and a pinch of mild chilli as a sweet-chilli sticky dip) for my Christmas Dinner party on 21 December. 12 people.
is it already on this off topic thread - i seldom read off topic threads. yet here i am. :D
i LOVE lamb!
the mince pies i got from Waitrose are in a black cardboard box and are called All butter mince pies and described as 6 individual all butter pies with a rich mincemeat filling containing cranberries, glace cherries and brandy. i couldn't resist. :)
the Mr Kipling ones are the deep-filled mince pies.
let me know which you chose and whether you were allowed to bring them back on the plane without incident!

Try grabbing a 450 gram tub of plain yoghurt, 1 teaspoon of garlic and finely chop up some cucumber to add. Mix all together, dip your little meatballs in as you eat them and you have my arabic favourite dish :)
The yoghurt dip goes down well with most things, especially boring old sausages :)

Sami - indeed - yes, we have that regularly - it's wonderful ... You probably know the similar one with fresh coriander!
I also love to make unlevened dough blinis with a small dollop of Tabouleh, a smidgeon of cottage cheese on that - topped by sliced Egyptian olives

Goodness, all this food talk has me re-thinking our New Year's Eve "menu". I've often thought of having an international food night so the kids have a taste of other delights. I think I'll have to pass on the mincemeat pie though... Maybe I just never had a tasty one. A brokerage firm use to regale us with holiday treats every Christmas, and mincemeat pie was always left on the conference room table uneaten. I took a bite once, but I couldn't get it down any further than that!
Samiya, can you tell me or direct me to information about the predator mentioned in your signature? "Australia's worst" but a parole board let him free?? TIA!
We are having breakfast with Santa this morning. I mean, the kids are! :D They are getting a little old for it, but my youngest likes it and it's their grandparents that ask us to go. Kind of hard to turn them down!
Last but not least, whispering go Ravens here. Just for BeeCharmer. I'd root for our hometeam but they

yeah, about connections et al. one day mankind will have this stuff licked and we won't have our hard work dashed to pieces!

mincemeat pie is a whole 'nother thing and it has to be named mince pie - even though it is made from mincemeat.
i understand what's wrong for you and it's the same reason i'm allowed to enjoy my stash of mince pies all to myself every season (unless a Briton happens by my house) as i tried them out with Germans 8 years ago and learned my lesson. you just have to be born into the mince pie culture to really love them. :D

Food and Cookin is a fave subject of mine: very involved in that 'world' over here, lol ;)
As a journo, and working for the Culinary Guild here on various projects and taste festivals .... just last year I had the MOST amazing stroke of good fortune over 3 months of visiting maestros: Attended workshop demos and interviewed Gordon Ramsey (he was no way his usual hairy-scary self, lol), Gary Rhodes, Lesley Waters, Anthony Worral-Thompson, Michel Roux (yes! the Godfather of cuisine, lol), Jean Christophe-Nouvelli ... and last but not least ... that living hormone, James Martin - young enough to be my son, so I patted my skirts, fixed my bun ... and stepped into the room gracefully and then nearly had a game of ping-pong with my ovaries, lollll
Och-aye: e's a looverlee lad, e 'is, guv.

FABULOUS! Thanks ... in fact the Culinary Guild over here are talking about putting a book together. We have 193 various communities living together and the food outlets are marvellous - most of the chefs are hand selected from cities all over the world and brought out to bring true traditional flavours, themes, styles and expertise. The most enjoyable 'dinner out' was athe new Korean Japanese outlet at a 5 star place.... fan-triple-tastic.
Thanks, Floh ... I'll look it up. Should be able to get it at ... ugh, what's the name? there are 2 major bookstores in London ... W H Smith ad ??? eck, anyway, the train from H/row goes to Paddington - there's a WHS there.
Much appreciated! See .... little gems on this here thread, lol. Now, I am going to type the lamb and dip thingie-ma-bobbie on word and drop it back here ... but I am dying to catch a couple pages at CTV - rest assured I'll do it for you.
The Warm Sweet Chilli dip is exceptional - and is *stunning* with flash fried houlimi cheese - it's heavenly. The houlimi lasts well after it's been flash fried if wrapped in wax paper and then foil and in the oven however, fresh is best
The dip is incredible with celery stalks and of course, magic for the lamb, mint & herb m/balls. If any is left over - makes a great snack with cold turkey slices on a whole wheat/rye-bread and lettuce - with this dip on top and a sprig of coriander ... Yumble-Bee.
I make one 'load' and use it for 3 different pre-dinner snacks (the above 3!)
VERY EASY:
Empty jar of 500 g mild chutney into small stove-top pot or m/wave bowl
1 well-heaped tablespoon plain honey drip-stired in to above
1 level t/spoon dried chilli
Stir together and heat well - but don't boil because it will go runny and the fruity bits in the chutney will sink in your serving bowl.
As it comes off heat, stir in roughly broken shreds of coriander (not diced) - serve.
Again .. take it to the bank, guys ... take it to a picnic - take it to the table:

Then --------> take THIS, Sportslover: In Feb I'm hosting the US Embassies Food Pavillion. I met 3 of USA's chefs, lord, I am embarrassed to say I can't remembe them, but I am SURE fellow posters will know them!
One TEXAS-SIZED tall, dark & handsome Texas Chef. Wonderful guy
One great warm, excellent sense humour shorter True Southern Chef - has a restaurant in New Orleans - and gave me an unsual recipe for ... deep fried onions in batter and GUMBO! I was bug-eyed watching him make this stuff ... and then he threw me a set of those Mardi Gras beads - which are purple, green and yellow and dangling pride of place in my kitchen...
And then the 3rd chap was the leader - he's written books and came from West Coast. He's got a rest the 'stars' go to and for the living embarrassing life of me I cannot remember him or his rest. I was not working with htme - I attended their demos... and there were lotsa other chefs, but I was at the US section alot ... (good food ... the Texas chef did everything in mega proportions. My husband CHEATS with savory snacks. :banghead:
His fave fool-proof little Variety-Pack winner is virtually from ready-made products, lol :p
1 pack frozen puff pastry - thawed and unravelled & egg brushed.
The entire sheet cut into 1 and half inch squares - separated on sheet so they dont join in baking...
On each square, he presses one each of the following to make 3 different snacks:
A mix of olives and chopped/well strained s/dried tomatoes
Chopped salami and literally a couple strands grated cheese on top
Sprinkles of freshly fried but not too brown/crisped onions, sesame seeds a smattering of garlic
He dusts the whole lot with savory spices (garlic & herb and salt)
Bakes till pastry rises and is golden brown ...easy to freeze - easy to eat.
(OK. I'll give up, lol....)

I went to a party last night and as soon as i stepped through the door i was handed a piece of paper with 7 current affairs questions on it. i hate competitions anyway so i said i didn't have my glasses with and couldn't read it, so there. my friend appeared with a pair of off the shelf glasses saying he'd purchased them and 11 others from a friend for €1 for just such stroppy people such as i! so i was lumbered.
i dun the quiz. out of around 100 people i won. i won because i only have a virtual life and spend all seconds not working on the internet reading . . . everything.
i won a bottle of champagne. one of my friends there tried to tell me it would be polite to open it and share it as the runner-up had won a tin of Quality Street and immediately opened it and offered it round. i asked him if he was on drugs because if he thought i was going to share my champagne when i was staying at the party north of the river absolutely sober with the intention of making it home in one piece he was two slates short of a roof.
which leads me to tell you this: i don't share. i'm an only child and i don't play nicely with other children! :p
That's awesome Floh!!!
Fun, isn't it? around 4 or 5 times a week we have a cup of tea together - english style and talk through the day that's been (mine) and the day to come (hers). :)
my wonderful significant other organised this as we (my cousin and i) both have apple macs. he made sure we both had an isight camera (he posted hers for her birthday) and we contacted the lady who helps her out with her computer to get it all set up for lift-off.
was a day we'll always cherish. :blowkiss:
we get to share so much. been going on around three years now, this video chat malarky, and so much better than email or phone calls.

Anyways, I have this recipe for a Pecan Pie which I got off WS last year. Haven't tried it but I may one day! lol. We have some very good cooks on this site.
PECAN PIE
1 - 9" unbaked pie crust
36 individually wrapped caramels
1/4 c butter
1/4 c milk
3/4 c sugar (white)
3 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 c pecan halves
Preheat oven - 350
In saucepan over low heat combind caramels, butter and milk. Cook stirring freuently until smooth. Remove from heat. Set aside.
In large bowl combine sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt.
Grandually mix in the melted caramel mixture. Stir in pecans. Pour filling into unbaked pie crust.
Bake 45-50 min until pastry is gold brown. Allow to cool until filling is firm.
Piece of plate with spoonful real whipping cream and tiny bit of chocolate sauce.
Love you Floh !!! You best save that champagne, you're going to need it to wash down 18 mince pies !:p Very funny ! Quite the visual - I can just see katherine Hepburn in that role with that dialogue...

Lol, as much as I love being in my kitchen and I swear it looks like a junk-shop, because ANY gadget that is 'kitchenie' - the baking side is my nightmare. One of my FAVE browsing activities is to go to flea-market type shops and stalls and rummage through things. I found a disgusting old flour scale - and the discs were almost the size of tractor-ploughs, lol ... but once I had it cleaned up - it became a piece. You shudda seen hubby's face when I got home, tho bwahahaaaa.
But, it's an ironic purchase: anything to do with flour and baking I just don't have the knack for. So I just buy those products. My crust bases are either too brittle or too soggy. Ugh. I just give up and slap the darn stuff.

ditto ... my baking failures include pasta outside of boiling spag, penne and shells, lol. I have to buy lasagne :banghead: I love roasts - and also love to do baked salmon in skim milk (to DIE for and soooo easy!). It's my one single failproof dish.

There is one thing involving flour that I can make apart from pancakes....german doughnuts. Jam filled but I also let them cool completely and add fresh cream inside with the jam. My house is usually packed then with my lot, their mates and any other mates they can sneak in when I'm not looking, lol. I make 50 at a time.
Being the mom of a 20, 19 and 5 year old is rather fun. My 5 year old had my 19 year old and one of his mates totally engrossed Bratz Genie Magic dvd.
Funny thing is I had no idea about the bigger boys were in there watching it til I hear laughter from my older "kid" and his mate. I snuck a looky into the lounge and here they were totally enjoying Bratz with huge grins on their faces! They still deny it.
Lol .... bwahahaaa. Floh!!! I LAUGH with you, darlin, that I do. Well, I know nutting other than charlie is a "he" name, but he's also mentioned his wife (around bout the horsey-talk) ... :D
Ok. i didn't see the horsey talk. and it's raisincharlie - so i thought s/he was bringing up a boy called charlie. :)

Heh, Floh... he and BarnGoddess had a great horsey chit-chat a while back .... and I just toned down raisincharlie to charlie, lol... :slap:
I thot the same thing about someone with a lil son called charlie (sounds like a name of a true-story book or movie, eh?), but 'charlie' mentioned his nick is derived from two of his fave horses.

Ooooh. Can smell the dougnuts here, lol... 20, 19 .... and 5! I'll bet your 5-yo has the household engrossed in lots of antics. My sister's 2 sons are 14 years apart ... with a dau slap bang tween them. it was awesome to see the older son so protective and patient with the lil one ...
Told my sis her older one is going to make a GREAT dad ...& ...
The younger one is going to make the teachers & girls mad ... lol!

LOL, I was the one who told my smug sister inlaw that her son was going to be gay. She denied it so bad that she slapped me......makes me PML now because 5 years later he came out and she still isn't over it.

LOL, Sami - seems like you have a lot of fun with your family. (NANA :D)
Why does your SIL not handle it b/c her son is gay? In this day and age we're used to accepting people for their opinions and preferences. He's still her son, no?

Raisin is a 17-2 thoroughbred mare - bay, looks like a big raisin, but has the best mind and heart of any horse I have ever known, is extremely athletic in the dressage ring, and she totally loves me.
Charlie is a 16-3 thoroughbred mare - black with white star - pain in the butt but very clever and great fun - she could care less if I live or die as long as she is fed. She is named after a boy I grew up with who could fold his ear up, suck his thumb and the ear would stay folded up - he was also a bug boy with me but he died after being thrown from a horse on the track.
Both of them are mine and mine alone, like Floh there are some things I do not share, and I did raise them from yearlings.
I do have two boys, neither named Charlie or Raisin, and a wonderful wife of 17 years who always makes me :).

He's still her son, no?She's not over me being the one that told her. She's ok with him, lol. She still says I did that because I wanted to be a biatch. I just tell her I did it because she was blind and she needed to be able to help him with any problems he might have coming out...and part of that is being prepared. Gay teen suicide is up over here and my nephew is a lovely kid but a bit troubled.
I have a ball with my family. I was telling my oldest son off a couple of weeks ago when he and his mate raided the icecream (4 litres GONE in 5 minutes!) and he turned around to his mate and said "See! Look what I have to live with. Love your mom and respect her or I'll send mine around"
I am so in love with the idea of being a nana.....I can hand her back! (yep apparently a girl) my 5 year old thinks it's the bees knees. We already have to call him Uncle Liam! lmao....I better change his birth certificate

I saw that Samiya, here's a bit from WRAL:
"Investigators said there was no forced entry into the resident and that nothing was stolen. The firearm believed to be the weapon used in the shooting was also recovered, said authorities.
"Ms. Vincent is cooperating with authorities at this time, and we have interviewed Mr. Bowling and got some information that we needed from him," Jenkins said.
Family members said Mark Bowling was in Florida on a fishing trip when his wife's body was found. He arrived at the Rocky Mount Sheriff's Department Friday afternoon and was questioned by investigators."
Perhaps this story will get the "ditzy sisters" in the MY case to realize they need to re-think their assumptions. Another husband out of town and having an affair....hmmmm

Nicknames always intrigue me, and I thought Charlie was a horse's name that someone was 'raisin'. LOL
Just a note. I am not a taxi, but I am a mom that drives around a lot...or drives you crazy. Take your pick. :D
I've had the cable news on all morning and nada. NADA about MY's murder. I might have missed something when I switched off the Hillary vs. Obama political (yawn) talk...but I really don't think this case is getting the coverage it deserves.

The woman in rocky Mount that was murdered...
Husband's girlfriend confessed to killing the wife while husband was out of town.
Wonder if he had told her that he was NOT divorcing his wife for HER?
