Paultaf's on-and-off boyfriend of two years was the last one who had seen her, at about 8:30 p.m. July 7, Harris said.

The couple had been staying at the Budget Inn near East Rundberg Lane and I-35, spending time together alone, Harris said.

They had an argument, the boyfriend told Harris the next day. Paultaf walked out. He went after her. She told him to leave her alone. Later, he went looking. He couldn't find her.

A few hours after his call, Harris called the police.

I wonder if she got on the freeway and hitch hiked? I hope the boyfriend is telling the truth. Sounds like their relationship was pretty rocky as it was off and on. I also wonder how mad she was when she left. We do some unsafe things when we are furious.

I hope that she called a friend and had her/him come and pick her up and she just hasn't called anyone cause she doesn't want her boyfriend to know where she is. You would think she would know that her mom would be worried though. Of course she doesn't know that her boyfriend called her mom either. Just hope she is alright. Feel so bad for her mom and the hell she is going through. Not knowing is just pure hell.

It was Roxanne's birthday yesterday, January 3. I just heard this on the news tonight for the first time, and it is only about 15 minutes from me. I often don't watch local news--just cable news. I think America's Most Wanted is interested.

Sleuthers let's see if we can be part of the solution once more and help find what happened to Roxanne. If you read the links with corresponding articles, there is some good info that may get us started in the right direction. Her boyfriend told Austin police that she took off after they had an argument. From that point, police say she vanished.
Volunteer search teams combed the area for clues but fell short of finding anything.

This week, family members learned from Austin police that the missing teenager's case will be featured on America’s Most Wanted.

Roxanne's mother, Elizabeth Harris, is hoping national attention can provide some answers.

It gets the word out to more people and let's people be aware that one of our children and we've got to find her," said Elizabeth Harris.

The family isn't sure when Roxanne’s story will be aired on America’s Most Wanted.

Roxanne Paltauf was last seen at a hotel on Interstate 35, just south of Rutherford Lane on July 7.

I have a lot of questions, so I will do more research.

There are some interesting facts involving the disappearance of Roxanne. Her boyfriend was the last known person to have seen her 5 months ago. He said they had an argument, and that she left the hotel where they were staying with nothing but her ID. He waited until the next day and called Roxanne's mother. They went together to the police to report her missing.

Roxanne expressed to her Mom previously how good it felt for her to have a cell phone in her name with a contract. She was just 18, and that meant a lot to her. Yet, she left her cell phone at the hotel--again along with everything else except her ID. A male friend of the boyfriend later claimed that he had Roxanne's ID somehow as a result of driving Roxanne and her boyfriend to the dollar store sometime before her disappearance. Not only is that odd; but, now it appears Roxanne disappeared taking absolutely nothing with her except the clothes on her back. Makes no sense.

Also, the boyfriend stated that she left at about 8:30 pm on the night of her disappearance. The boyfriend made numerous calls from Roxanne's cell phone to an ex-girlfriend in New Mexico. The calls were made AFTER 8:30 pm on the night of Roxanne's disappearance. It was reported in one of the links that the bf made those calls to the ex in NM and said he was in trouble. I do not know more than what I read about those conversations.

Initially, shortly after Roxanne disappeared, her Mom was passing out fliers in the area of the hotel She asked one woman if she had seen Roxanne, and the woman replied that she hadn't. Sometime later they ran into each other gain. The woman asked if she could help. Roxanne's Mom gave her some fliers. That woman was later found murdered. I do not know her name, when exactly she was murdered, or where. It may be a red herring. But, it at the very least is horrible coincidence.

As I've stated before my googling skills need an upgrade, as do my copy and post and all things, "link" skills. If I could get some help and interest in the search for this young lady I, and perhaps her family would be most grateful.

Hi Bobbiesangel. The family seems suspicious too. When I googled Roxanne's name I found and read a thread about her on Crimelibrary. I don't know if LE is just tight lipped or they have their suspicions' but have no concrete evidence to proceed further with the boyfriend. I understand he has been questioned; but' I don't know the results or what was said. I don't know how seriously the ex-girlfriend in NM was questioned. I imagine LE checked the motel room for blood evidence, but who knows?

I am very interested in this case as well, Lionrun. I would love to see it solved. I too strongly suspect the boyfriend. If I had a fight with my hubby I would gather up my phone and purse and leave. What young woman would head out into that part of Austin with no phone or ID? The good news is that APD is pretty progressive when it comes to DV issues. There is a unit that handles DV and they came and spoke to us during my training to volunteer with the shelter here. I was very impressed with what they had to say. Unfortunately in some cities DV is kind of swept under the rug or not taken seriously, which just amazes me. Thankfully APD takes it very seriously.

When I had a PO against my ex husband I went to my small town police department because he was calling both my home and cell phone constantly - I'm not exagerating either. He would call one, hang up and call the other, back and forth. They told me that we would never get him for harrasment because my phones weren't storing all of the calls - the latest call would replace the one before it so I only ever had proof of the latest phone call - not the 4,000 before it! They went ahead and took it to a judge in Travis County - no proof, just on my word and amazingly I got the VPO! He was arrested (at work, I believe) and put on probation and apparently it scared him good because the calls stopped. So there seems to be a pretty zero tolerance policy for DV in our courts and the police really do seem to take it seriously. I will bet that they are looking at the bf, but maybe he covered his tracks well? I am sure that he slipped up somewhere so hopefully they will be able to get the evidence they need.

Roxanne's Mom is frustrated because she does not think LE is prioritizing her daughter's disappearance. I do not understand it. What. She started a brand new life at 18 (she turned 19 the other day) with nothing but the clothes on her back with help from no known friends or family? She expressed that she does not know what else to do.


Does anyone have ideas of how to renew interest either by media (which, may in turn renew interest by LE due to pressure) or Le that may help solve this? Roxanne's family need answers.

Hi Lizzy. I just did a search for free at www.zabasearch.com (http://www.zabasearch.com/) . There were 10 results when I plugged in, the bf's name in Texas. Do any of these names or addresses ring a bell? If so, you may want to consider a search there or near there. Also, you may want to think about first, where are/were the bf's, "comfort areas" i.e. certain park, lake, friends house, family member's house/ranch where he visited and felt comfortable even fairly far back in the past. Perhaps a future well planned search of those areas along with areas nearby the motel and any other areas you think are worth searching may be helpful.

Please let us know how it goes tomorrow, and I am sorry I cannot be there.

I spoke with her the night before, she said she would be home the next day,
next day came ,she didnt show, so i went shopping with my other chidren, arrive back around 4:30, shortly after the boyfriend,Louis Walls, called me, which he never called, because he knew i didnt approve or like him, and asked if I heard from Roxanne, the he proceed to tell me that they had an arguement she walked out the hotel room and he followed, she said leave me the f--- alone and he went back to the room and went back out shortly to look for her and never could find her.
She left behind her purse, cell phone and clothes,
I finally got the phone back about 4 days latter and there were about 7-9 pages of calls on there after he said she went missing,

I only have waht he said happened,
I did speak with some other people who said she was there that day but as for exact times and what not ,it gets confussing.,

I did make him call the police to make a report and I also made a missing report, but the Le didnt catch up with him untill about week later , because between the time the DET was assign to her case and not being able to interview with the BF.
The LE did a interview with him at his resident, I think<
but has never brought him him for questioning or a lie detector test , nor did they go to the room where she was last in, to check for any thing,
this story can go on and on,
I was out searching for her the from very begining, and came across a street girl who I asked if she ever seen my daughter ,she said no so the next day I went back and ran into her again she asked if I had found her, I said no , then she reached for a cross around her neck and kissed it and she said she will help find her, the next thing I new the LE called and asked for Roxannes dental record because they had found a female body across town,
It wasnt Roxanne ,but it was The same girll I spoke who kissed her cross , Her name is Lorretta Lynn Roberts she was killed and dumped , I think it was the last day that I spoke with her that she was last time anyone saw her
I also in searching for Roxanne came across a security man , at a different hotel, just down the street, who said there was a disturbance a couple of days before, where the ploice were called, his wallet fell out and the security guard picked it up and opened it and saw Roxannes ID in It, he was later was questioned about it and said he gave Roxanne and Louis Walls a ride to the store and she left it behind
Roxanne nor Louise had a car
To this day the man who had her ID, still has it
I have asked for it back but I never get any where

as for Roxanne, we dont know what happened to her
Did the BF have any thing to do with
Did some one grab her
We just dont know
we are at a lost
We have searched fields , thank to some good friend of mine who I have known for 20 yrs who he work for the volunteer fire department and help organize a search, no help from LE
its been 6 months now and nothing , nothing at all

let me point out
she had an agurment with the BF not me or family , we had a great relationship she just didnt walk out after the arguement and decide to walk away from everything and everybody in her life, you have to plan for something, just not in the heat of the moment,
she was working and had bank account with debit card, she just got the phone in her name to start aquiring credit, she was working on her GED, she had only one more test to take and then I was giving her car, she was so excited about that, she worked hard for it and deserved it.

the fact that he called her mom after they had a fight is a huge red flag.


he thinks by calling and acting concerned it will take the suspicion off of him, but actually it is just the opposite!!!

There are too many red flags involving Roxanne's disappearance, and the police did not seem to even do the basics beginning with looking in the hotel room for any signs of foul play or even any clues as to where she might have, "taken off to".

The boyfriend did not call Roxanne's Mom until after 4:30 P.M. the next day. If I were him, and my boyfriend (I'm a woman let's do the reverse) left walking near a highway, at night, with nothing but the clothes on his back, no phone, nothing. I'd be calling her friends and where he lived and searching all night. I would not wait until nearly 5 PM the next day to see if he got home safely.

I wonder if he called any of her friends previous to the call to Roxanne's mother. That can be checked. I doubt that the police did check though. And, he made 7-9 pages of calls to his ex-girlfriend in New Mexico on Roxanne's cell phone that she, "left behind"---after the he said she went missing at 8:30PM. What, did he think it would be constructive in their relationship to make countless phone calls from Roxanne's cell phone to HIS ex-girlfriend? Would that help them make up? How would he possibly explain that to her?

He said, that he went looking for her. If he was making calls from Roxanne's cell phone routinely that night after she disappeared, the location of the calls can be traced too. I doubt the police did that though either. I do not understand why. What if the call record holds key evidence to where he actually was that night?

And I don't care what anyone says. It is too odd that a friend of the boyfriend has Roxanne's ID. It makes NO sense to begin with, and it makes NO sense that he still has it after 6 months. What, is he the curator of lost ID's for his friend? C'mon.
Now, to Roxanne. I know of no young woman who would have an argument with a boyfriend and leave a hotel with nothing but the clothes on her back. No purse, no ID, no clothes, no money, no checkbook. And her accounts have not been used since.

She was proud of herself, just 18, had a job and had her first line of credit--for her cell phone that was left behind. She was making positive changes in her life. She was about to finish her GED and receive a car from her Mom as a gift. She got along well with her Mom and family. How does it make any sense that she would disappear, without a trace, without ever calling any family or friends since? I do not know her, But I have a daughter who turned 19 on January 7th. I cannot imagine what Lizzy, Roxanne's brothers and sisters, and other family and friends are going through.

Lizzy, please forgive me if I am pushy about the disappearance of your
Roxanne. It upsets me that LE seemingly has not put forth an honest effort to find her. It seems they did not take her disappearance seriously. They may have thought she was just an angry girlfriend who will show up eventually. But, with all the red flags, I just don't understand why they did not seem too alarmed.
If anyone has any ideas on how to renew LE's interest, and to keep the media interested please post.

11/24/06 - Eighteen-year-old Roxanne Paltauf was last seen in July at a hotel on Interstate-35 and Rundberg.

Her boyfriend told Austin police that she took off after they had an argument. From that point, police say she vanished.
Volunteer search teams combed the area for clues but fell short of finding anything.

This week, family members learned from Austin police that the missing teenager's case will be featured on America’s Most Wanted.

Roxanne's mother, Elizabeth Harris, is hoping national attention can provide some answers.

It gets the word out to more people and let's people be aware that one of our children and we've got to find her," said Elizabeth Harris.

The family isn't sure when Roxanne’s story will be aired on America’s Most Wanted.

Roxanne Paltauf was last seen at a hotel on Interstate 35, just south of Rutherford Lane on July 7.

She was reported missing by her family the next day. Paltauf was staying with a friend at the hotel.

Detectives say Paltauf may have been seen in the area of Rundberg Lane and I-35 North on July 9 and 10, but they have not been able to locate her.

Paltauf is five feet four inches and about 124 pounds. She has green eyes and brown hair and was last seen wearing white shorts, a pink tank top and flip flops.

I have a question or statement,
I want the BF to take a lie detector test but LE says that no crime a bee commited, How is this so ? He was the last to see her and admitted to an arguement, It seems to me that more can be done

About her my space personal acct....go back and check all her and her friends posts..get one of them you trust to do this with you. Someone is saying something somewhere on there. And this Loius Walls...how old is he...does he have family in Austin...u have to find some dirt on him to peak interest. Talk to his family...his father...his siblings. Tape everything said..probably can't be used as evidence but it will help you recall every little detail. There are clues you just have to find them.

Hi Lizzy. Yes, unfortunately, bf does not have to take a polygraph. I wonder if LE told you, "what for?" because they knew they could not make him, that for some reason they do not suspect him, that they are too lax, or that they are doing more behind the scenes than we know. i tend to think the latter might be the case because of their seemingly lack of interest in considering Roxanne's disappearance a priority.


richandfamous has some great ideas. I would contact the ex in NM. Be careful though, she may still,"love him" and want to protect him, lie for him, or at least be in denial. Or she may be clear headed and give valuable insight into bf's behavior. I would sit down with others who you think have good minds for this and come up with a strategy on how to approach her and what questions to ask before contacting her. We can help you too if you like.

What about hiring a private investigator to research the bf thoroughly? I know they are expensive, and you would need to find one with relevant experience. But, it could prove to be helpful.

eta; Get a notebook write down everything. Names, addresses, phone numbers, what was said, location you met them, date...everything. You can miss alot while just talking to people...sometimes the smallest thing is a big clue. That's the beauty of a tape recorder...you can write you notes later. Some people are uneasy if they know you are recording (so hide it).

It was Roxanne's birthday yesterday, January 3. I just heard this on the news tonight for the first time, and it is only about 15 minutes from me. I often don't watch local news--just cable news. I think America's Most Wanted is interested.

Sleuthers let's see if we can be part of the solution once more and help find what happened to Roxanne. Hi, This is Roxanne's Aunt. I really do appreciate all the concerns and support concerning Roxanne. For some reason LE has chosen to distance themself from Roxanne's Mother. I had a detective that I know from here look at Roxanne's info that has been on the news and etc. He thinks that a lot of times they want to tell the family something but can't because of info being leaked to the press. Also, when researching her name on the web, he noticed case facts being leaked to who knows who on the internet and that might be why they are being distance. But what are you to do when you feel like that is the only ones that care. I feel they should at least give her something to show that they have not given up. I got an Email from someone that notice a post that I had made on Rachel Cookes site that read
"My name is Jerry Nance and I work at the National Center for Missing Exploited Children. Since the passage of "Suzanne's Law" we can now assist in cases where the person is over 18 but still not 21. To get our assistance in what is called the Protect Act Cases, the request must be made by the police."
The officer can contact us by calling 1-800-THE LOST. I pray your family will have answers.


But getting police to do that I guess is out of the question.

Hello All,

After spending the last couple of days exploring ways Crime Library could "make a difference" I have gotten approval from the exec editor to have a follow-up article written on this case. I will take to David Lohr in the morning about this case and ask him if he'll do the follow-up. As some of you know - in conjunction with David's piece I will organize a forum wide call to action to put pressure on Travis County DA to investigate this case.

I will need anyone who has talked to anyone associated with this case to e-mail David and send him information on what you know and how to contact you! This is important and will help speed things alone. Also persuing a conversation with the Austin American Statesman to perhaps run David's article there.

I just watched Fox 7 news, and I thought the piece was excellent. I think it may spark even more people to take note, and that possible tips may be generated especially with the combination of John Walsh and you and Roxanne.

Please let me know what I can do. Would it help to call local LE and show a citizen's interest? If so I will be glad to. If there is anything I can do, however small or big, please feel free to ask.

I saw a picture of a man standing close to Roxanne in news piece. Is he the bf? Can you tell me if the bf has any history of violent behaviour that you have heard of, even throwing things or punching walls?

Also, as I recall, the bf, Roxanne, and a friend (the driver) of the bf allegedly went to the Dollar Store shortly before Roxanne's disappearance. Did the bf even have an auto at that time? Did he have access to an auto at that time that you know of? If the bf had anything to do with Roxanne's disappearance, they in fact together at the Budget Inn on July 7th, yet neither the bf nor Roxanne had an auto how far could she be taken? I would think that access to an auto either via passenger or driver would be needed for Roxanne to get very far from the hotel.

If all areas within walking distance of the hotel were searched, then I imagine she went somewhere by vehicle. It may be telling that the bf's friend had possession of Roxanne's license, after her disappearance. And, it is equally odd that the only thing the boyfriend stated that Roxanne took with her was her license.

Let's hope and pray that something comes from this. I will of course be watching tomorrow's America's Most wanted, on Fox 7, at 8PM central standard time, as well.

The case of a missing 17-year-old girl from Austin in getting national attention.

The T.V. show “America’s Most Wanted” will feature Roxanne Paltauf’s disappearance when it airs Saturday.

“I was just happy! I was saying, ‘Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for getting her on there,’” said Paltauf’s mother, Liz Harris, on Friday. “That somebody spots her and just gives us a call or calls America's Most Wanted to say, ‘We know where this girl is,’ or ‘We've seen her in the company of this person,’ or ‘We've seen her in this town,’ or whatever, anything, just so we have something to go on instead of nothing at all.”

Paltauf was last seen in a North Austin hotel in July 2006. Her boyfriend, Louis Walls, claims they were hanging out when Paultauf walked away after an argument. He was the last to see her alive.

Harris is hoping national attention will bring in more clues.

“I know that a lot more people are going to be able to see it and we're going to find Roxanne,” she said. “I have a good feeling that she's going to be found. Somebody's going to see her.”

A local teen who has been missing since July will be featured on the television show "America's Most Wanted" tonight, according to the teen's family.

Family members said a show official told them that a picture of Roxanne Paltauf, 19, would be shown during the fourth commercial break of the broadcast.

The show airs tonight at 8 on Fox.

Bonnie Block, a spokeswoman for the family, said Paltauf was last seen around 9 p.m. July 8 at a Budget Inn in North Austin. Police say Paltauf walked away from the hotel after having a fight with her boyfriend, Block said. No charges have been filed in the disappearance, Block said.

If anyone has information about where to find Paltauf, they can call the show's hotline at 1 (800) CRIME-TV.

Hi Sassygerl:). Well, I thought it would be just a speck more coverage; but, I am glad that at least Roxanne got on AMW, and her pic and info is now on the AMW site.

The good thing is that right after the show they had a good segment on our local Fox news station, and an AMW representative ran a well done piece on dear Roxanne. They said that tips, although vague thus far, are already being called in. Roxanne should be on our local NBC news in about 30 minutes. This is very good local coverage--and most of the people who need to see this live locally.

I have a favor to ask all sleuthers who live anywhere near the Austin area. Please, if you can and you would like to help, print out Roxanne's flyer from our site on this thread, make lots of color copies, and post them anyplace anyone will allow you to. If we can generate public interest, we may in turn generate leads.

Good morning Bobbisangel:). Roxanne was reportedly last seen by the bf, Luis Walls of Austin, at about 8:30 PM on July 7th, 2006. He stated that they argued, and Roxanne left. He said that she took nothing with her except her ID--no cell, no keys, no purse, no belongings except the clothes on her back.

Lizzy, Roxanne's mom later learned that a friend of the bf had and has to this day, Roxanne's ID. The two stated that Roxanne, the bf, and the bf's friend went to the Dollar Store in the friend's auto, and that Roxanne must have left her ID in the auto then.

So, it seems that Roxanne left with nothing but the clothes on her back. She was very proud at 18 tho have a cell phone account in her name. Her phone was very important to her. However, the bf made 7-9 pages of calls to an ex-girlfriend in New Mexico beginning the night that Roxanne disappeared--all on Roxanne's cell phone.

Neither the bf nor Roxanne had a vehicle. The friend of the bf who has Roxanne's ID does and did have a vehicle at that time.

The bf said he looked for Roxanne the night she disappeared. He finally called her home the next day somewhere around 4PM give or take. Lizzy convinced him to go to the police station with her; but, after they initially reported Roxanne missing that day, I read that Walls did not sit down with LE to try and help in the investigation for about a week. He was busy, I think; but please do not quote me on this.

It has been over 6 months, and I have seen numerous media reports where Roxanne's loving family is searching for her. I live 15 minutes from where she disappeared. I have never seen the bf on any news report, and I do not know if he has ever actively searched for Roxanne or not.

My hinky meter is off the charts. I think that the bf and possibly the friend of the bf may know more then what they are saying. I don't know what LE is doing or not doing.

The case of a missing 17-year-old girl from Austin in getting national attention.

The T.V. show “America’s Most Wanted” will feature Roxanne Paltauf’s disappearance when it airs Saturday.

“I was just happy! I was saying, ‘Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for getting her on there,’” said Paltauf’s mother, Liz Harris, on Friday. “That somebody spots her and just gives us a call or calls America's Most Wanted to say, ‘We know where this girl is,’ or ‘We've seen her in the company of this person,’ or ‘We've seen her in this town,’ or whatever, anything, just so we have something to go on instead of nothing at all.”

Paltauf was last seen in a North Austin hotel in July 2006. Her boyfriend, Louis Walls, claims they were hanging out when Paultauf walked away after an argument. He was the last to see her alive.

Harris is hoping national attention will bring in more clues.

“I know that a lot more people are going to be able to see it and we're going to find Roxanne,” she said. “I have a good feeling that she's going to be found. Somebody's going to see her.”

My hinky motor says the boyfriend knows exactly where she is. He called an old girlfriend the night Roxanne disappeared and there were pages of phone calls to her!!! Doesn't sound like he was worried about her in the least.

I have a granddaughter that just turned 18 yrs and she doesn't go anywhere without her cell phone. If her and her boyfriend got into a fight and she left the house in a huff she might not grab a coat but I know for sure she would grab her cell phone. It is always in her hand. I think she would remember to grab her purse too. This girl took nothing with her and never returned to get her belongings. Sounds like the boyfriend is a big liar. I just wonder if LE even check the motel room for evidence or if they have ever checked the friends vehicle. If we can figure this out you would think that they could. If there was blood somewhere and someone tried to clean it up LE could still find it if they have the sense to check the motel and car out.

Does anyone know what kind of relationship they had? Did they normally get along well or did they fight a lot? He didn't seem to worried about her not coming back. It bothers me when the boyfriend or husband don't seem concerned and won't talk to LE or they do it in their own good time. He would be at the top of my list if I was LE.

Maybe we should email AMW and let them know that we are disappointed that they didn't do a full story on this young girl. I guess we could wait a little while to see if any tips pan out but they should have done at least a longer segment for her.

There are some interesting facts involving the disappearance of Roxanne. Her boyfriend was the last known person to have seen her 5 months ago. He said they had an argument, and that she left the hotel where they were staying with nothing but her ID. He waited until the next day and called Roxanne's mother. They went together to the police to report her missing.

Roxanne expressed to her Mom previously how good it felt for her to have a cell phone in her name with a contract. She was just 18, and that meant a lot to her. Yet, she left her cell phone at the hotel--again along with everything else except her ID. A male friend of the boyfriend later claimed that he had Roxanne's ID somehow as a result of driving Roxanne and her boyfriend to the dollar store sometime before her disappearance. Not only is that odd; but, now it appears Roxanne disappeared taking absolutely nothing with her except the clothes on her back. Makes no sense.

Also, the boyfriend stated that she left at about 8:30 pm on the night of her disappearance. The boyfriend made numerous calls from Roxanne's cell phone to an ex-girlfriend in New Mexico. The calls were made AFTER 8:30 pm on the night of Roxanne's disappearance. It was reported in one of the links that the bf made those calls to the ex in NM and said he was in trouble. I do not know more than what I read about those conversations.

Initially, shortly after Roxanne disappeared, her Mom was passing out fliers in the area of the hotel She asked one woman if she had seen Roxanne, and the woman replied that she hadn't. Sometime later they ran into each other gain. The woman asked if she could help. Roxanne's Mom gave her some fliers. That woman was later found murdered. I do not know her name, when exactly she was murdered, or where. It may be a red herring. But, it at the very least is horrible coincidence.

As I've stated before my googling skills need an upgrade, as do my copy and post and all things, "link" skills. If I could get some help and interest in the search for this young lady I, and perhaps her family would be most grateful.

I don't know why but some kids just think that they know everything and that we are as dumb as doors. My granddaughter was the same way and it just drove me crazy. I couldn't tell her anything...I'm old and things are different then when I was her age...or so she thinks. Some things are different but when you get involved with kids that are doing things that they shouldn't be doing...times haven't changed. When your kid is doing things they shouldn't be doing and end up in trouble...times haven't changed. Guys still hand girls lines and girls still fall for them...times haven't changed. There are more drugs then when I was that age and more kids are doing them...that has changed. Basically things haven't changed all that much when it comes to most things. It is scary when you can't get through to your child about the dangers of this world. I always wished my granddaughter would get on this forum and just spend a few hours here. Thank God she has straightened her life up and is working and has a good boyfriend. I swear they can cause a parent or grandparent acting as a parent to have a nervous breakdown....stress. I hope that your daughter does a turn around real soon. I really feel for you.

Well, the good thing is that we know that they received the emails, which means they know that there are some people out here who want them to move on finding Roxanne and what happened to her. It must be obvious by now that she did not just leave, and stay, "left". On their site she is listed as endangered. So at least they seem to realise that.

This case wreaks of foul play, and I want to believe that APD has it as a priority. Like I have said before, I believe that this can be solved. From the way the, "investigation" has proceeded to this day it seems that it was bungled initially. If it is true, for example, that LE did NOT even set foot into that hotel room, then I just don't get it. That spells, B U N G L E to me. If I am mistaken, then I am sorry as I do not want to put our LE down.

Okay, there would be mountains of DNA from everyone underneath the sun who ever went into that sleazy hotel room. But, still it should have been checked out for signs of a struggle, corroboration of what was indeed left in that room versus what the bf stated, obvious signs of possible fresh DNA, and anything else that might be relevant.

(That was my first thought when I heard how many calls were made in so few days.) :waitasec: Could he be a police informant, and that is part of why he isn't being investigated ?:banghead: Lizzy, do you have an attorney, and a private investigator? Maybe they could help get the information regarding those cell phone calls for you? Surely they could also help get that ID back as well. Hi KatK:). You raise some excellent questions here. Yes, the bf is actually 31 years old now. My hinky meter is off the charts on this as I have expressed previously. Have you checked out the thread for which there is a link in a post in this thread? There is a pic of the bf, and a very interesting post that may (or may not be?) from the X gf in NM.

ETA: Not only can I see the butt of the gun poking under his shirt, but look at his pocket. That looks like more than his hand in his pocket. And now the curled fingers make sense! Hmm. Kat, I think you may be right. I see what you see. Isn't there a gang conference for investigators in Texas being held in June in Austin? I will try to find where I put that info and post it. I sure hope LE is going. I want for Roxanne to be found long before June; but, regardless, I hope LE sends some investigators to that.

Would it be helpful for missing persons to chat with the gang department at APD on Roxanne's case? Gosh, I sure hope they are.

True gang members will not position in person or photos with any rival colors. They will certainly not do that if they are flashing gang signs. They will however be in the presence of allies with different colors.

Just say that the one in the Bulls tank is a blood, he would be in company of members dressed in red or brown, dark brown,rust colored, tan and brownish orange (the last 5 colors mentioned are dried blood colors).The "shorties" (females) wear pink, which is in the color variation of red.

I would like to ask if Roxanne's leaving behind her cellphone and other items was due to a forced leaving of the motel room.without her belongings.

Maybe she did not have a choice to take the items with her.
During a heated argument, she very well could have been forced to leave without her phone and other items. or she just left without them in panic to remove herself from the scene.
I know that when I was last with my ex-husband, I took my son and left behind all of our belongings, including our clothes.and personal effects. My thought was preservation to myself and my son. No personal items at all.

The factors of the last moments in that room determines the "flight or flight" instinct that Roxanne felt at the time. The need for personal effects is overriden by the flight instict and I am sure that Roxanne was either in the self-preservation mode or she was forced to leave without her personal effects.

Were the people in the rooms next to that room at the time and date interviewed?

From what I have read LE did not even enter the hotel room to take note of how things looked, or look for eveidence of foul play, or to see what she left behind. I don't think they acted fast enough, and instead treated the initial report by Liz as a voluntary missing person's case.

I understand what you are saying about the fight or flight response. She could have left in a hurry feeling the need to leave immediately or because she was angry. But, I wonder, what about after that night? She has not been seen nor heard from by anyone since. She had no money or credit cards. She had nothing with her to start a new life. And, she had family and friends whom she was close to and would not have just left in the dark, not knowing what happened to her.

So, perhaps some horrid, unknown individual took her after she left the hotel room. But, that doesn't fit with the bf's actions and reactions. What has he done to help find her? Even if he doesn't get along well with Roxy's family, what is he and has he done on his own to help find her? Why would he put 7-9 pages of calls on Roxy's cell phone--after she disappeared--several of which were to his ex-girlfriend's cell phone in New Mexico? Did he not think Roxy would be enraged at that?

Roxy left even her shoes behind. How far, on her own would Roxy have gone with no shoes, no money, no purse, no cell phone, and no credit cards? If that were the case I think she would have called(collect) a trusted friend or family member to help her. Why would he be too busy to talk to the police for the first week after Roxy's disappearance?

I would like to believe that she left of her own accord; but, I think that unfortunately she didn't.

Excellent questions Shadows. LE never interviewed housekeeping, and it has been 7 months. Had they been asked about the room's condition and interviewed immediately following Roxy's disappearance they would have had answers to those important questions.

Roxy's site was taken over by her mother and sister after she went missing so I don't know if any of the friends listed are the original friends that Roxy had. I kinda went through some of the friends and only a couple spiked my interest..the rest were all younger girls/friends of roxy's little sisters and missing persons sites.

Why thank you shadows:blowkiss:. You are so kind. I will be home until about 12 Noon or so. I am getting an abcessed molar removed. The infection is into the jawbone, and draining into my lymph nodes, so I will be happy to have this dang tooth out. Actually, I have never even had a cavity. Years ago I fractured every one of my teeth in a car accident, and the one that didn't heal was this darn molar. It has been my enemy ever since lol.

So, I will be back on the boards tomorrow afternoon/evening or wednesday at the latest.

Come on you guys, I know some of the people from the Rundberg area are reading this board! If you are worried about saying anything, just call anonomously, you could even get a reward...even if you remain anonomous. They have a system where you get a number and no one needs to know who you are. Talk to your neighbors in that area. See what bits and pieces you can find out. No matter how small you think it is, it could be the tip that breaks this wide open. Do the right thing! You need to do this for your own kids, they see how you handle this and it builds character and integrity. Not to mention...the person that did this is still out there and maybe your kid is next!

How involved in this case is LE now? Do they still think that Roxy just ran off into the night and started a new life? It wouldn't hurt for them to go back into that motel room and check it with luminol. There could still be evidence there if something did happen there.

I wish LE would listen to parents when their older children come up missing. First of all ask the parents if their child keeps in contact with them and how often they talk to them. If that child is close to their family and keeps in contact every day or so but hasn't been heard from for a few days then something is usually wrong. Kids that keep in contact with their family don't just stop calling. There is always a way to get ahold of a phone.

Does he belong to a gang or is that a guess?

I can't imagine having a child missing and not getting any help at all from LE.
I'd probably park myself at the police station and refuse to leave until someone listened to me. There is no excuse for that. There have been to many times that someone has gone missing and the police thought they just went off to start a new life....and they didn't. What do they have to say when they find out how wrong they were? It is better to take the time to search just in case.

Hi Bobbisangel. I emailed LE, and received a short reply. I get the impression they are finally working on Roxanne's case. I do think that initially they dropped the ball,, and considered Roxanne to have just taken off on her own.

I think they realize that they were wrong. She is listed on their site as endangered/missing for example.

Unfortunately, they let most if not all leads dry up. They didn't go door to door asking hotel geuests what they saw or heard, and they didnt' check for any tapes in any neighboring businesses. They never set foot into the hotel room to see its condition, what was taken or left behind, and certainly not for even an oblique lighting check or luminol, or test for Roxanne's DNA in that room.

Now it seems they may be working harder on her case. I agree with you totally that LE should listen more to families of missing adults. There should be at least some criteria to initially determine the likelyhood of what happened on a case by case basis. Clearly in Roxanne's case leaving with nothing but her ID (which it turns out she didn't), her case should have been treated as endangered/missing immediately.

I have been checking into a advertising billboard in the Rundberg--IH35 , austin tx area.
This to put a Roxannes name and picture out there for all to see.
I have calls in with a couple of companies, Lamar and Reagan, billboards
to get prices .
Yes it is very expensive
Approx=== $1,100.00 for the art work and $6000.00 for the space and time.
The reason that it is so pricey is the location
I am at my witts ends and continue to come with ideas in finding OUR ROXANNE
AKA TEAM ROXANNE.
This could also be a start in helping other families of missing love ones
maybe start a organzation.Which i have no idea how to go about it, but it is a start

Hi Lizzy:). Okay. The billboard is a good idea, and I remember that one of us (can't remember who now) suggested it. I have an idea on how to get the best responses.

Pets go missing a lot more often than people. So, people who make up, "missing pet" posters have more experience. I am getting involved in searching for missing pets in the future, so I have been doing research.

As it happens, professional pet searchers have found what type of posters work best to get results. My guess is that if we model Roxanne's posters and billboard after those missing pet posters we might have the greatest chance of finding Roxanne.

It is really quite simple. When people read a poster, or a billboard for that matter, they have usually seconds to note what is on it. The 3 things that must stand out in a particular order are:

Bottom: REWARD



In between is where her story (point last seen, who she was with, contact info, etc) would go. But, the three most important things to grab attention are missing, picture, reward.

I hope I am not sounding too business like or uncaring. I am assuming also that whomever may respond to the billboard may not have the most intact values/morals, and the bottom line is we want to find Roxanne.

Lizzy, what if we were to have some type of fund raiser where the money could go towards finding Roxy and getting her billboard up? What if we decided on a fund raiser, and got as many people as possible together for it, and called a press conference(in advance) to get it on the news. Perhaps this could get us more coverage, and more donations for the billboard. Hey, how about a car wash? Donations can go to the billboard and to find Roxy? We could get everyone possible to be a part of it. The media would be more likely to cover it, which in turn would get the word out even more.

Hi Lizzy. What about asking a Non-Profit Organization for financial help towards the $6,000.00(Perhaps we can raise the $1,100.00 through a fund raiser like a car wash) and perhaps have a billboard campaign for the missing? First up could be Roxanne.

I had an idea, is the room that Walls was in that night vacant? If so, rent it and have a csi go in there and see if there is any evidence of foul play. I just can't believe that Roxy left on her own without her stuff. And what did happen to her cloths...Walls gave her mom some other girls cloths. But Walls had her phone and his friend had her ID. Maybe they took her someplace where she couldn't have her ID and phone but she could have her cloths.

Exactly! Even though a lot of time has passed, those places aren't known for their cleanliness. I doubt the housekeeper did that thorough of a job. Why hasn't this happened already???

But, clean up of a large amount of blood may be evident using luminol, which could then be specifically tested. It could be contaminated, though. And, the presence of a large clean up would not be enough, I imagine to arrest anyone this long after--evidence of a large clean up could be from a fight or something as it was not in a good neighborhood.

I was thinking more along the lines of sending in an professional independent csi company...if there is such a thing. And Yes, if there is blood, it would show with luminol no matter how long it's been. Maybe it wouldn't be admissible but at least we would know!

Wow, I imagine we would need to pay for his flight, room, meals, etc.. plus testing. Have you had any luck with finding anyone in the Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio areas?
