Okay, will someone tell me what the "boot" of a car is....I am assuming the trunk?

I am a little surprised that they would die of dehydration with the temperatures around 34 degrees. This is just heartbreaking!

How sad. I hope this was a terrible accident. It would be so much worse if somebody purposefully locked them in the trunk (boot, whatever).

How sad that two little boys lost their lives like this. I wonder if they somehow accidentally locked themselves in the trunk (boot?). I am so sorry to hear about these boys.

How horrible! I am deeply saddened by such a senseless tragedy. The boys didn't know any better, but someone should have.

Am I the only one appalled that 'someone' witnessed them playing in this car and did nothing to prevent this?! I would NEVER allow a child supervised or unsupervised to play around a vehicle. Where are the parents when children get into these types of situations? Leaving a 3 and 4yo unattended at ALL for ANY amount of time to me is negligent. I raised 5 kids and I KNEW where they were at all times. Maybe I was overprotective, but it was my job to be aware and responsible for their safety. I believe in the sight rule. I didn't allow them out of mine.

This truly is heartbreaking. As usual in a case where we have so little information, I am unable to criticize the parents. I am human and have made parenting mistakes. I expect I will continue to do so. Until I hear facts that indicate otherwise, I automatically assume that parents in these situations aren't at fault.

I imagine that the parents of these two boys are absolutely devestated. Whether they share responsibility in the outcome or not, they will forever blame themselves on some level.

You are right. Stories like this sometimes just get to me. I apologize to the poor parents and family. I know this is a tragedy and blame is the last thing they need right now. My sincerest condolences to the people who are truly having to endure such a loss.

Serious, my thoughts went almost hand in hand with yours so don't feel too bad. It's hard not to go there in your head after reading WS for so long now.

South, thank you for the gentle nudge back in the proper perspective.

Peace!

Dubbo is rural, and these type of things tend to happen in rural areas.

It was just a tragic accident by the sounds of it, those poor parents.

It's really hard to keep an eye on kids all the time, turn your back for two minutes and bang an accident and in this case tradegy can happen.

I really understand, SS. When something this sad happens, I want to be able to blame someone too - it's human nature, I guess. Blessings to this family!
