Apparently the grandfather killed his daughter, her two sons, and his SIL, then killed himself. The SIL is a level three registered sex offender who served prison time twice. He was released most recently in February of 2006. I wonder if the killing was in relation to the SIL being a sex offender?

I wonder if the grandfather found out that the man molested his grandkids and was so distraught that he shot him and then the mother because he blamed her. I dont understand killing the kids unless he in some way thought that they were better off. Prayers for the family. God bless those beautiful boys.

Omaha Police say the gunfire that killed five members of an Omaha family early Sunday morning was a murder-suicide. They believe that 62-year-old Richard Wilkinson killed his daughter, two grandchildren and son-in-law before killing himself.

The initial report was phoned in to 911 shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday. Shots had been fired in a home at 12410 Westwood Lane. That's just southwest of 120th and Center.

The victims are identified as 35-year-old Darrell Lee; 26-year-old Jamie Lee; 62-year-old Richard Wilkinson; six-year-old Michael Wilkinson and three-year-old Jacob Shinabarger.

Jamie Lee was still alive, in critical condition, when police arrived. She later died in the hospital.

Darrell's brother, David Lee, says Darrell and Jamie Lee were married approximately one year ago and lived at the Westwood Lane address for approximately six months.

A registered level 3 offender, released in February of 2006. According to his brother, this couple were married approximately one year ago. Where, when and how did they meet? Did they marry before he was released? Why would she jeopardize her two children living with a level 3 offender? What drastic event pushed her father to kill them all, including himself??

Her father made a judgement call that was not his to make. This is horrible. Why kill your child and grandchildren to amend the SIL's crimes? Too illogical and not appropriate. Something else is going on.

I just read the stats on the SIL B*stard and my only thought is, "Karma".

Who knows...the grandfather could be mentally unbalanced and this was over money instead.

It is so heartbreaking those poor boys had to be victims of not only their Grandfather's rage, but they were in a situation subject to being abused in the worst way. I cannot feel the same for that SOB (SIL) and his wife. It is a parent's absolute charge to check out the men we put our children into an intimate relationship with and to act (or react) accordingly. Being they were leaving her father as a Landlord and trying to move to an apt....I see it this way...the boys were placed in a horrid situation or situations no matter what happened. May their souls rest in peace. I am so very sad for them.
