My husband just called me from his job and said a poster was just circulating for a girl missing right up the street from me. Her last name is Bird and her first name starts with a B. I thought he was saying Brianna but it might have been Brenna. She is 14 years old and went missing Saturday. I looked in my local paper and online and I can't find anything. Some of you always seem to find the articles that I can't find so I am hoping someone can get info on her. Please. This girl is the sister of my son's boy scout friend.

Just did Google searches for "Breanna Bird"..."Brenna Bird"...."Brianna Bird" and also tried spelling it "Byrd" and adding "NJ" and "missing" in the search string and came up with nothing. I hope someone else can help.

Hubby just called back. It is Breanna Bird, 14, from Galloway. It turns out she is a cousin of my son's friend. Her dad is a Galloway cop. They found 3 myspace accounts that she created, all of them listing her age as 18. On them, they found some raunchy notes from men as far away as Florida. She left her cell phone behind and they found messages on there too, leading them to believe she went to meet someone. I will keep you updated.

A little more info: Breanna went missing on Saturday evening. Her family was going out to dinner and she said she wanted to stay home. When they returned, she was gone. All she took with her was her purse.

I just received this email from a friend and there is permission to pass it on.
Hi everyone,
A friend of mine asked me to pass this along.
They're looking for a teenager who disappeared
Saturday night. Breanna Bird is a 14 year old
daughter of our friends Harvey and Renee. Harvey is a
Galloway Township Police Officer. Breanna has been
missing since approximately 5pm on Saturday, March
3rd from her home. Even though her parents had thought
they had all the right controls to limit their kids
from the Internet sites they didn't want them on,
Breanna found a way to bypass it all. The police
checked the computer hard drive and found 3
myspace.com accounts and many emails to various men.
Her cell phone also has messages similar to the
emails. Breanna took no clothes. It's unknown at this
point if she was planning on meeting someone at her
home while her parents were at dinner and she was
abducted or if she had planned to leave with this
person. No one has heard from her at all. The local
television station told them they couldn't put every
missing kids photo on TV so up to this point there
has been no TV coverage. I called a gentlemen I know
and his brother works for TV 40 and the ball seems to
be rolling to finally get her photo on the air but we
have lost 3 days. Philly stations will not run it. If
anyone has any contacts that can help get Breanna's
photo on any other TV stations please pass on the
attached flyer.
Harvey and Renee's home number is on there as well as
the Galloway police department. We need all the help
you can give us. Breanna has now been missing for 3
days. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!! There has been what
seems like endless delays in trying to track down
these men because of needed subpeonas.
Breanna listed herself as 18 on the Internet. She is
only 14 years old. Please send this to everyone you
can think of. She could be anywhere.
Thank you for your help- P

Now is the time for the cop dad to use any pull he may have. I normally don't believe in doing things like that but this is his baby girl and if he has to use his influence as a cop....do it.
I can't believe that TV station refused to even put her picture on for even a couple minutes. Why can't they show pictures of missing kids in their area :furious: I wonder who the top dog of that TV station is? Maybe he/she is the one the family needs to talk to.
It sounds like this little gal planned on taking off. Maybe she met a guy at a certain place in town or had someone pick her up. She has no idea what she is getting into. Three MySpace accounts...WOW. I hope they can track all of those guys down. I hope they at least say where they are from in their writings to her. I'm wondering if she just planned on meeting someone but not taking off with them as she didn't take her phone or clothing. He may have gotten her in a vehicle and taken off with her. I hope LE can track her down soon. It's a dangerous world out there.

I don't have a link or proof of any kind yet but word of mouth in my town is that she is home. I don't know how or any details and I don't know what has happened. She must be OK though if she is in her own house and not at the hospital. As soon as I find out more, I will post. Thank you to everyone for your time and for looking at her info.

thank god she is home safe, these young girls don't think that some men out there just aren't at all safe to be with. she is very lucky she didn't get mixed up with a killer. she needs to realize that in this day and time sexual preditors are all over the internet looking for a prime victim to take advantage of.

Once again, MySpace was involved. That site can be so bad sometimes. :(
glad she is home safe. She needs to be more careful!

Here is a link from the Philly station. Looks like they decided to get involved after all. I am trying not to be angry but from this, it looks like Breanna just decided to disappear and then came back home on her own. I know she is only 14 and I need to cut her some slack. I don't know if I am more upset that so many resources were wasted looking for her instead of someone who needs it or that she was so stupid and could have ended up dead.

I hope her parents finally step up and take responsibility for monitoring her internet usage. They should have known that she was on myspace. Too many parents don't pay attention, and this little girl could've ended up dead.

The ironic thing is that there is an assembly tonight at the middle school where police will be addressing the dangers of myspace. You'd think the dad would be all over this long before now. I am just glad she is OK.

I guess we assume that because a dad is a cop that they watch their kids and what they are doing like a hawk but as we can see that isn't always the case. Didn't this girl have 3 MySpace accounts? Someone wasn't paying attention. This girl is just one lucky girl....this time. I would take the darn computer away from her except for school work...also her cell phone as she was having contact with guys on her cell phone too. Those items are a privilege for kids to have...nothing more.
I am glad she is home and safe.
Myspace.com is bad news IMO. I don't allow my kids to go there. However, both of my girls have a class at high school that makes them have a webpage at Facebook.com (I believe that's the name of it). I don't agree with this at all, because you never know who is looking at the webpages.
