This is my first time doing this, so please bear with me. I have been poring over the details of this case for 3 days now and I was wondering if there is anything that stands out or is missing. There aren't too many details except for the fact that there IS some DNA available on the remains. Please help me in my first sleuth by correcting anything I may have overlooked?

MrsG...I think you got something there!
Have you reported this to the doenetwork and the Waynesboro
PA PD and the Madison County, Alabama Sheriffs Dept.
I would contact all three because it is becoming apparent that LE agencies do not communicate well with each other or the citizens that voluntarily work these cases. jmo

I hope it's truly a match. The mouth area especially looks similar.

Good luck!

this is too close to ignore, if I were you, I would contact le right away and let them know of this, you can copy the links down or tell le exactly how to navigate to this page and let them see that the comparison is close enough to check the dna from the remains to the dna of the case evidence they have on file of her.

Mrs G...You are definitely on to something! The teeth especially look like a match from the photo.
1. Height is in range of UID and Angie.
2. Date Angie reported missing to discovery of UID is plausible, 2 years. Their estimate could be off on remains by weather conditions affection decomposition.
3. Age is within Angie's at time of disappearance.
4. Hair color could match.
5. The facial bone structure, especially the forehead. Both are high and wide.

I think this needs to get reported to the authoritis to compare dentals and DNA.

ETA: Remains had on a sleeveless top, Angie disappeared in August. Noticed in Angies missing photo...a broad striped top.

Yes, this could definitely be a match! And the fact that the remains were skeletal could be why there is no mention of the scar or tattoo. Go Mrs G! Keep us updated!!

 Ok I hope this works. You all have taught me so much about this... I certainly hope I've gotten all of my i's dotted and t's crossed so I will finally call this in.

When I first looked at this doe, the "reconstruction photo" they have looks nothing like this, and I almost assumed it was dead wrong. My gut instinct told me to go further, and one of my awesome students who does photoshop superimposed a layer that convinced me to post this.

Look at the hair/forehead line, the cheekbones, and the width of the nose at the eyes... it lines up so well.

Thanks for all of your help- let's see how this goes. I am going to call PA now. Just hope my sleuthing skills are good enough to find their PHONE number. :bang:

I just spoke to Waynesboro Pa police Dept. and they are putting me in touch with the detective on the case, detective King.

Alabama said they need to get back to me, and I emailed doenetwork. Guys, my heart is in my throat right now! eek!

Hi Mrs. G,

Did you intend to attach the superimposed photo that your student made in your previous message? If you did, it didn't work. It would be interesting to see it.

Thanks and good luck with LE.

Hi Utopia
No actually, the thought never even crossed my mind to even ask her for it! She did it for me at school in the computer lab... why didn't I think to ask her to email me the image?

Sorry guys- when vacation is over I'll send it on

No worries Mrs. G, it was just that when you started the message with "okay, I hope this works" and then talked about the picture, I was thinking that's what you were referring to.

I have submitted everything to detective King and the detectives in the sheriff's office in Alabama. Now, we just wait.
Here is my letter

***Hello Detective King
My name is MG, and I'm a teacher from Long Island NY. I am a registered member of the websites http://www.doenetwork.org and http://www.websleuths.com

Most of us at websleuths.com make communities on the internet aware of missing persons and offer support and media attention to cases for families of missing persons. We also use it as a forum to comment on cases in the media. We often try to match unidentified victims off of the doe network with missing persons ads based on family requests or just our own good will to help these families.

I came across this Princess Doe information at the doenetwork.org and I thought you may be interested in looking at it. I believe it may be Angie Daley, missing from Waynesboro Pa in 1995.

http://doenetwork.org/cases/148ufal.html

The clay recreations as well as the sketch seem to fit some of the facial/cranial features in Angie Daley's missing person's poster. (I don't think the composite doe photo looks like her, but again it's an estimate) We have some people that have done a photo overlay using photoshop, and the hairline/forhead/nose/eye spacing seem to match.
Some of the other volunteers on the site seem to think there is enough evidence with a chipped front tooth, approximate date of find/death of the skeletal remains, and timeline to do a DNA test.

Please let me know if you think this is a lead- I'd love to keep everyone posted. I hope I haven't interrupted any current investigation and I am praying this case is resolved soon.***

hey also interesting: Detective said that they were following a lead on Angie out of Illinois.

It looks like you may have found a match---great work!

I looked up Angie's page at the Charley Project:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/daley_angie.html

When I saw that she was missing from PA, but the possible remains were found in AL, I wondered how she got that far. That's why I love the CharleyProject pages--always a little more detail. She possibly left with a trucker.

Congrats on your sleuthing!

Moderators- maybe time to lock this post to prevent false hopes? idk procedure, bear with me.

I just received an email letter from Rocky Wells at the Doe Network. Basically, it outlines some of the proper procedures for filing a possible match and for contacting them first, then LE. According to doenetwork, it may actually hinder a real investigation if we don't go through them first. I'd HATE to be the one to waste LE's time on something that has either already been investigated, or is dead dead wrong.

According to doenetwork.org, the princess doe here is NOT Angie Daley. This lead had already been explored, and according to them, it is not her.

I hope this didn't alarm or cause anyone in her family to jump to conclusions or have false hope. I want to thank all of you here on WS who helped me double-check my info and put this together. In the meantime, back to the drawing board for me.

MrsG728: You did an excellent job! Look at the shirt she is wearing in the picture.

"She may have been wearing a white with blue broad stripes casual, sleeveless top, size unknown, which was found near the skeletal remains outside of the plastic sheeting"

I think they should take another look at this. Anyway....I'm glad you also posted about the doenetwork rules. I had no idea (I'm new here also and do more reading then sluething)....

MrsG, I am sure that you did not give anyone false hope or hinder the investigation, I think you are to be commended for your efforts! Maybe they want everyone to go through them so they can claim credit like they did for Ada?

I'm from Huntsville, AL and have 2 websites on the Huntsville Doe...I am VERY interested any any ideas you might have :o .

I've been looking for years as well. I've talked with Sgt. Berry several times and they have done DNA comparisons (or dental records, I guess maybe) with so many young girls, one even as far away as Canada. I am still looking because her identity is out there somewhere. Check out my 2 sites for her if you get a chance. :D

PS...what about April Pennington for the Huntsville Doe?
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1539dfct.html

In one of the pics she looks NOTHING like her, but in the others, maybe. And everything else pretty much fits. That one pic looks so different from the others, it's wierd.

THANKS!

MrsG-did you ever hear back from LE in this case? I know you stated that the doe network said it wasn't a match, but if the lead had already been explored why was LE trying to compare DNA? Maybe I'm just confused...

I saw a couple of responses about the Huntsville Doe's chipped front tooth and just wanted to add that I have previously spoken w/Sgt. Berry who has been handling this case (I'm from Huntsville) and he said that the tooth was chipped some time during or after the bones were recovered. Just wanted to let everyone know because that does make a big difference when looking for a possible match. The Huntsville Doe does, though, have a gap between her front teeth.

I saw a list of rule outs for this doe, and Daley has been ruled out by dentals.

edit: Pennington is also a rule out by dentals.

that they have checked out. I didn't know about April, tho, thanks for telling me about she's been ruled out. The more they do check out, the more they narrow it down. Something tells me, though, that the HD may not have been reported as missing and that is why we cannot find a match.
