:furious: I am so freakin pissed- the sellers still haven't contacted me. I tried 2 emails and a phone call. I got an answering machine and left a message. I hope that they are just away on vacation, seriously because if it's just them being lazy then........................I am trying to control my mind from calling them what I want to call them! UGH this is so frustrating!

The sellers are from Houston and I believe they are called duffybooks.
Now we just sit and wait. :behindbar lemme oout!

Would you like for me to call them? I won't tell them why I am calling, so they won't recognize my number on caller ID if they are avoiding you for some reason. In fact I can call them and act like I want to buy a couple of things. They will probably pick up pretty quickly then.

Also, I will answer this hear, WT heck. I posted the pic of the ring from its side back when we were trying to discern if it was a mens or a ladies ring. In post 74 on the other WS thread you can see a comparison between Princess Blue's ring and a men's 1975 ring. It is clear that it is a ladies ring. In addition, I later called the Texas Missing Persons Clearinghouse, and the lady I spoke with said that the ring is in fact a ladies ring.

I had posted the email and phone number for the man at Duffy Books -- I had previously emailed him asking him if he would just give us the names from the class so no one would have to buy the book itself.

Sure you can call them because if I do, I won't be nice right now. Plus, I have to make a cheesecake, a lemon meringue pie and a meat pie for easter tomorrow. and I am procrastinating again :loser:LOL

thank God my mom went to Italy. She'd destroy me if she knew I was baking. I'm supposed to be "relaxing" this vacation.

Ok Yearbook arrived and here is what I've got so far! I am posting this info so that you know where to find the info and if you have anything you want me to look up, you can refer to the table of contents to see what is in the book.

It is a green leather book with a gold seal in the lower right-hand corner. It has a total of 352 pages, and it is all in black and white. The coolest thing I have ever seen in a yearbook- a STUDENT INDEX. In the back, it lists all students by last name and where they appear in the whole yearbook.

The inside cover is yellow paper with "saber '75" written in gold ink amongst 4 stripes: Tan, Gold, orange and brown running vertically (pics to follow later)

The first page of the book shows a pic of the front of the school and random students. It says "Robert E. Lee High School Houston, Texas Volume XIII. Steven Ehliger and Maureen Moore, Co-Editors in Chief. Jim Baumgardner, Business manager. Mrs. Margaret Wisdom, faculty advisor."

The table of contents is on page 3. It lists as follows:
Activities........... 12
Sports.............. 40
Young leaders.... 74
Organizations..... 84
Faculty............. 154
Favorites...........176
Classes............. 196
Sophomores.......198
Juniors.............. 222
Seniors............. 246

Senior Honors
Ads, Index.....306

The Juniors DO have individual pics with their names next to them!!

On page 247, it shows the senior cabinet. I think this is important to begin researching them, since they were the most involved. As soon as I have time I will update the spreadsheet.

Here are their names:
Cheryl Medlin, Karen Collins, Dori Hayek, Jo Ann Gaddis, Maggie Urresti, Melanie Weil, Pam Renaudin, Carole Walter, Kathy Allen, Barbara Scott, Nancy Capps, Johnston Wu, David Macdonald, Bill Johnson, Dwight Stein, Marla Reece, Steven Ehlinger, Russell Henderson, Cindy Cutrer, Melanie Bauerschlag, Brad Bonano, Herb Lancaster (herb happens to be the cutest lol) Craig Noonan, Harry Fikaris, Karen Montgomery.

In light of icepickphil's post below, I'm wondering if its possible that we're confusing schools?

Would the Saber 75 notation in the year book indicate this school referred to themselves as "The Sabers" while the quote below indicates the name to be the "Fighting Generals"?

All the best and open to enlightenment,

Mickie

----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hi I am a Robert E. Lee Senior High School graduate class of '75. I was contacted by a member of this board and will be glad to offer any info about the school that I can.

To clarify a few facts about the '75 class: the total number of graduating seniors that year was about 600 -- thus around 300 girls. Robert E. Lee at that time was a school that had primarily white middle class pupils. I'd estimate that the demographics of the class was maybe 80% white, 10% hispanic, and 10% black. As some of you may know the school has changed considerably since then, even changing it's name. Back then we were known as the "Fighting Generals" and the school colors were grey and gold.

I do not have my copy of the yearbook from that year anymore. I never had a graduation ring. I did attend the class 30 year reunion in Houston a couple of years back.

I was somewhat familiar with this crime as all of the '75 graduates received an email from the alumni group leaders a year or so about it."

hi Mickie- You bringup a good point, but usually high schools call their yearbook a name that reflects their newspaper or publishing club's name. My high school was the Oceanside Sailors" but our yearbook was called the "Spindthrift". I teach in Seaford- we are the Vikings and our yearbook is called the "Phoenix".

he yearbook does say Houston Texas and it shows the Fighting Generals on the sports pages.

One of these people listed above is my mother. I am out of town right now and will speak to her at the end of the week and see if she will come on and help. She was a senior and I actually have her class ring from then and it very different. My father also graduated from Lee but in 72 not 75. And his ring looks very masculine and I think my moms looks more feminine. Is it possible that Princess was wearing the ring over another ring she had on. I also know alot of us in high school wore other peoples rings. 11 1/2 seems very large to be a womans ring.. My mother's ring has her initials on the inside. I know because hers are the same as mine. I am going to try and call my Dad and see if perhaps he has some initials and what the "l" could possible be. I hope I have helped some.

I spoke to my dad and he said that the if school initials were on the rings they were RL. He said he new this because he dated a girl who had RL and a cheerleading symbol on her class ring. I askedhim how he remembered that and he said well I wore the ring for three years. Which leads me to other family questions but whatever (I was born in 1976 and my parents married in July of 75) He said that back then the mens rings were cheaper than the ladies so alot of girls went with them. My dad did say that there were 4 girls in my moms graduating class who were pregnant at graduation and are not necessarily in the yearbook because of potential scandal. He was going to call my grandfather who actually coached boys basketball to see if maybe he could think of anything himself. I hope something I can find help. i can tell you my mother and father are very active in the alumni associations and have attended every class reunion ever. My mother was very popular and still maintains many relationships with people from her adolescents and teen years.

Hi all, I have silently been following your progress for some time, and thought I might add my '2 cents' in here...My parents had high school rings made for each other. Therefore, her ring was a womans ring with his high school on it. His was mans, but with her high school...(ahhh, true love, lol) Just another possibility that the ring might be harder to track to an owner, if its a mans size ring...just a thought to share, an idea to keep in mind when searching for its owner....
best to all of you, what great work you are doing here!

Hi, Crash676. Thanks again for this useful info we'll be categorizing into useful data. We will be sending out another mass email as soon as all of the data is compiled from the yearbook. However, if your family prefers not to be included in the mass emailing or is just plain sick and tired of hearing of it, please PM me not to send it. We know that there is private info and I wouldn't ask you to publicise it.

Seeing as though your parents still keep in touch with many alumni, please ask them if they have any suggestions as to how to proceed in contacting everyone from the class. This is going to take us a long time, and any suggestion is welcomed. is it possible that at the time, a BF and GF would have had rings made for each other as the poster above stated?

I wore my BF's class ring on a chain around my neck next to my baby cross during our Jr. and senior year. We both had the insides engraved but not to each other- for ourselves. (we weren't together when they were ordered) By the way, I got my class ring during my Junior Year. IDK why they do this.

Thanks for all of your help and suggestions, people. Keep them coming!

Hi Sadie:). I am adding to the list of ring zebras as we go along. I was thinking that perhaps we could have a sticky with ring zebras that can be continually updated. We could also start a general zebra list and see if we can also keep that as a sticky that can also be continually updated. This way we won't have countless posts to go through to begin tackling the zebra lists. What are your thoughts, friend?

However, I have one possibly very valuable lead. Harry Fikaris was at one time, and may still be, a homicide detective with Harris County Sheriff's Dept. I know that because I saw him on an episode of Cold Case some years ago. He was interviewed about a cold case that he and another detective had solved. There's no doubt it was the Harry Fikaris I knew.

This episode was maybe 4-6 years ago, so chances are good that Harry is still with Harris County Sheriff's Dept. If not, they can probably get a message to him. He may well know about the Princess Blue case itself as well as have some idea about whether she could have been a member of his own graduating class.
