I always think about Tara Grinstead when I hear about a woman found in Georgia.

Prayers for the family of this poor victim. :(

OMG, I was thinking Tara too, especially since the victim has been there awhile. They must know it is a woman based on clothes?

Thanks. So, far enough away to make it less likely that it's Tara, but it definitely still could be.

With all the strange undercurrents in Tara's case it could be her. So many layers that GBI is having a heck of a time sifting through all the nuances and people.

The article says, "The GBI hopes to have a clothing description of what the victim was last wearing by Tuesday."

Today is Tuesday. I hope that they reveal the clothing. Would this help to determine if it were Tara? Has it been reported what she may have been wearing last?

Yes, it would. The FBI VICAP site says it is assumed that Tara was wearing Grey New balance shoes and black sweat pants. That site is the only site reporting what she may have been wearing as much about this case is very tight lipped.

Carnesville--where the first body in this thread was located--has two exits off I-85. The body was found at the intersection of 320, so it was the fourth exit from the South Carolina line.
DeKalb county is about 60 miles south on I-85 from Carnesville.

The area in Carnesville is very rural. Franklin County has the distinction of being the poultry capital of the world! There are millions more chickens than people! :)

To my knowledge, there are no missing persons in FC. I'd guess this is a body dump from the interstate. Hopefully, it won't take to long to ID. :(

The special agent in charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Athens office -- John Heinen -- says it could be a few days before a forensic anthropologist with the agency is able to determine the person's identity, age and cause of death. Heinen says officials have determined that the remains are those of a woman.

http://www.independentmail.com/news/2007/may/15/agents-continue-investigate-skeletal-remains-found/

Agents continue to investigate skeletal remains found near I-85

So far, about 40 percent of the remains have been recovered. Mr. Heinen said it’s still too soon to determine if foul play is involved. The remains have been identified by forensic anthropologist Rick Snow as that of a woman. He estimated the bones have been there for at least three years. More of the remains must be found before work can begin on making a positive identification.
For now, investigators can do nothing but stand and wait until the rest of the creek is drained, a process they hope will be completed today.
“Then we’ve got the terrain to deal with after that ... It’s going to be another messy day for us,” Mr. Heinen said.
He said they have had a number of calls from law enforcement agencies and families who reported missing persons going back three years or more, but as long the rest of the bones remain buried in the mud, there’s little chance of finding out who the woman is.

UPDATE: 5/17/2007 -Skeletal remains discovered in Carnesville swamp:

http://www.franklincountycitizen.com/articles/2007/05/17/news/news01.txt

Although some bones have been located, the skull is not among the recovered remains.

Thomas also said that there were no records of missing females in Franklin County, as of press time.

Although officials are not sure of the age of the body, they said that the remains have been in the swampy area for approximately three years.

They now say they think she died between 2005 and February of this year. They said 2 people are still missing from Georgia in that time (probably Tara Grinstead and Leslie Adams). I still say though if it could have been as late as February of this year that they should also consider Theresa Parker, the 911 operator, that went missing at the end of March b/c that would not even be 2 months later than their timeframe and they could be off. There are things that could be done to speed the decompensation process like burning parts of the body and skin before dumping the bones, which could have made the scatter of bones happen faster, or dismembering the body parts. Maybe they will at least look into this possibility if it turns out not to be Tara or Leslie............

I am registered at onlineAthens and here is the clothing description...

The clothing includes a pair of black Reebok Classic high-top tennis shoes, woman's size 81/2; a medium size, dark colored, long-sleeved Chesley brand sweater; a pair of size 10, dark-colored Courtenay brand Capri pants; and a pair of white athletic socks with gray toes delineated by a green stripe. A breast implant also was found with the woman's remains.

There are pictures at the site of the clothing.

With the sweater and capris, we can assume in this area the victim went missing in the Fall.

Capris wouldn't be usual attire for Winter and a sweater wouldn't be Spring or Summer.

The sweater looked to be open down the front, as if maybe a tee shirt of sorts could have been worn underneath. This could mean it was still warm enough during the day for a tee shirt and capris and in the evening a sweater was needed.

The high top tennis shoes and the capris have me in a quandry...

I just can't see Tara wearing capris and high top black tennis shoes...

In fact, from all photographs I have ever seen, I can't see her in the button down the front sweater with tee shirt underneath, with capris on either....

Would this fit Leslie Adams or Theresa Parker's style of dress more than Tara's?

The breast implants should have a serial number on it. Mine does. I have a card with the maker and serial number in my purse... and saw a Forensic Files show where they used this information to identify a body one time! I even joked with my husband that he could always fine me because of the Serial number on my implants!

This could be Leslie Adams, according to GBI statement:

http://www.gwinnettdailypost.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=1&url_article_id=28251&url_subchannel_id=&change_well_id=2

I note that Lilburn, GA is only 60-70 miles from where the body was found, and Interstate 85 would be the connecting road.

Prayers for a quick resolve.

Here's another article that says they think it could be Leslie Adams. They said she did have breast augmentation. I truly hope this is her and they can bring charges against the boyfriend - he is in jail for related charges of provoking his parole after they found out he broke the restraining order by calling Leslie. He is due to be released in just a few months though.....If this is her she was found just in time.

Investigators may be able to use the serial number on the breast implants to determine if they once belonged to Leslie Adams.

Adams, 40, was reported missing in October, 2005. Officers found a shell casing and blood in her apartment.

http://www.11alive.com/news/article_news.aspx?storyid=97457

Also, However, in Adams’ request (talking about the RO against Cook), she filled in a checklist of what she says Cook did to her, which included choking, hitting, stalking her, in addition to being jealous and controlling of her or threatening to kill her.

What the big secrecy? There should be DNA matches from the bones. This is becoming a pattern.

I also keep thinking about the mother and daughter recently who went missing from Georgia.

If any of these are Tara Grinstead, I would certainly hope that her parents are pushing for expediency for identification purposes.

Animals scatter could have been responsible for movement of the bones but they can tell if it is decapitation vs. disarticulation. After all these months one would have hope they had an ID. I wonder if the perp picked up a hitchhiker and we may never know who the remains belong too. Some family somewhere is waiting for news.
