View Full Version : Gag Order Issued
U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge has issued a gag order to quell pretrial publicity in the federal case against convicted killer Joseph Duncan.
Attorneys, witnesses and prospective witnesses in the death penalty case are barred from talking about the case, other than quoting from what's already in the public record, according to an order Lodge issued Friday.
"There is a reasonable likelihood that a fair trial by an impartial jury will not result unless appropriate steps are taken concerning the conduct of the trial and extrajudicial statements by parties, witnesses and prospective witnesses," Lodge wrote.
The judge noted the "great deal of publicity" surrounding the related state case in which Duncan was convicted of killing Brenda Matthews Groene, her 13-year-old son, Slade, and her fiancé, Mark McKenzie.

Well, I guess that means less discussion in here? I can't imagine anyone in the US who hasn't heard or read something about this trajedy. They would have to go to another planet to find a truly impartial jury.
Yeah, like we've never heard of this case? I can't even say the guys name without wanting to get sick.:(

I don't get it, I thought he had confessed to the Idaho crimes and the boy in Cali and the two little girls in Washington I believe it was. Why a gag order?

You're right. He confessed to Brenda, Mark, and Slade's murders. But there is still an upcomming trial for the kidnapping of Shasta and Dylan and Dylan's subsequent murder.

So, he's confessed to all the murders except for Dylan?
I knew the trial was the Federal one, but I thought there were confessions to everything already.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but yes, I believe so. He did not confess to Dylan's murder or the kidnappings of the two children. They wanted, as part of the plea agreement, for him to have to plead guilty to these charges, but that agreement was not the one that they used in the end.

I hope he is getting the sh*t beat out of him every single day in prison. I hope he's getting beaten within inches of his life, allowed to recover, only to get the sh*t beat out of him again within inches of his life. He's probably "protected" from the general population, though. Anyone know?
Poetic justice....it just doesn't happen enough.
