Annita Maria Price
DOB: March 20,1947
Sex: Female
Race: White
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height 6'0 (well proportioned)
Weight: 155 lbs

Annita was last seen on May 30, 1974 at approximately 8:45 p.m.
She was supposed to be on her way to work at the Flamingo Club in Benwood, West Virginia.

The vehicle she was driving belonged to her boyfriend, and was described as a early 1970's AMC Sportabout (a four door Gremlin) green in color.

The vehicle was discovered the next morning sitting along West Virginia Route 2 which is the major north south route along the Ohio River between Moundsville and Wheeling, West Virginia.

She never arrived at work.

Annita was reported to have been wearing yellow shorts and a blue top.

Annita had severe burns to her left arm and torso from a childhood accident that may be apparent in her bone structure since this occurred when she was about 9 years old.

Annita had been going through a messy divorce and there was a custody battle for her two children. DNA from the victim's children have been entered into the Relatives section of the National Missing Persons Database which is also associated with CODIS.

She was born Annita Maria Musto in New Jersey, lived there for a short time until her father died when she was four. The family moved back to West Virginia where her mother married another man.

Unsure about dental work, tried to locate that at one point, we identified her dentist, but he is dead and the records could not be found.

It is believed that Annita met with Foul Play.

Sounds a lot like the Margie Dodd case in Beckley WV in September 1977. Ms. Dodd left the Cardinal State Bank, and stopped in Beaver, WV where she was abducted (witnessed). Her car was left at the scene. Although, searches were made for months, Ms. Dodd was never found.

A few snippets from the above Missing Pieces link:

she was going through a pretty messy divorce with her husband
she had 2 young children
she wasn't the type that would have up and left her children
they checked out the husband, he's been very cooperative, and there's no evidence of his involvement in her disappearance

Family, Police Won't Give Up on Mom Missing for 36 Years

Annita Maria Price disappeared from Moundsville, W.Va., on a spring evening back in 1974. Thirty-six years later, her family clings to hope that she is alive, and police keep trying to find clues.

[snip]

"I miss her and I want answers," Layne said. "She has nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild that she never got to see. Someone knows something."

I have some free time on my hands, so thought I would check for possible matches to Annita Price, I found these- opinions?

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/8359

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/1589 (in my opinion, reconstruction doesn't resemble her, but included anyways)

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/4804 (including because of multiple abdominal stria- could be burn scars?)

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/2128 (the age and clothes are off, but, the height and weight are exact match to description, and sketch resembles Annita's photos somewhat)

"I was too young to do anything as a child, and as an adult I keep running into brick walls," Price's daughter, Madonna Layne, said in an interview with Sphere.com. "I have tried to get interest and information circulating in the media, but most agencies are not interested because the case is so old.

"To spark this case forward, we would need a tip to locate her body."
Police thought they had received that tip in February 2004, when they received information suggesting Price might have been buried at a location south of Moundsville. "Multiple searches were conducted, but we never found her body there," Swiger said.

http://projectjason.org/forums/index.php?topic=5832.0 She was 6' tall. Maybe an experienced sleuther recalls a 6' unidentified female found in the WV, PA, OH area?

"We excavated in an area south of Moundsville," he said. "The tip indicated the body was buried under power lines running parallel to W.Va. 2 - but we found nothing."

I keep wondering just how well this area was searched.
